For Nausea/Vomiting "I have anxiety, but I was prescribed this medication for my vertigo and sickness problem I randomly have ATM, and I’m so dizzy. But after taking these, I feel better. I then read that it can help with anxiety, and my panic attacks have been so bad I just wanted them to stop. So I started taking the medication for anxiety, and I haven't had an attack in 2 days, really. But I’m reading all these reviews, and now I’m scared to take it because my panic attacks got worse. I have no idea what I would do, to be honest. Not sure if I should carry on taking them if they give you permanent damage anxiety-wise."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "It has been a little over six months since I was given Compazine through my IV when I had a migraine, and I am still not right. It’s important to note that prior to the injection, I have never had any problems with mental health besides intermittent anxiety (mild). I went to the ER for a severe migraine that had been lasting a few days. I was given Compazine through my IV for the pain. I immediately had the worst panic attack of my life. I can’t even compare it to other panic attacks I’ve had because it was profoundly horrific. Wanting to escape, suicidal thoughts, terror, wanting to rip the IV out of my arm, and extreme restlessness. I have had debilitating anxiety ever since. After reading many of the reviews, I see most people feel better after a few days, but that hasn’t been the case for me. I have now been struggling with never feeling at peace or comfort. I can no longer feel love, happiness, joy, or even experience laughter. I walked out of that hospital a different person. Please avoid."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Took this for a migraine cycle, and while it helped with the migraine. When the nurse gave it to me, it made my heart race, and it made me have the worst panic attack. I couldn’t stay still because my legs were restless, and I was extremely hot and loopy. I won’t take this again."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER for stomach pains and nausea. I am allergic to so many pain medicines that there is little I can take. They gave me Compazine, and as they put it in my IV, they told me it could cause severe anxiety in some people. Well, I can tell you now, it was horrific. I have had one major panic attack in my life, and this was 20 times worse. I started pulling off my clothes and ripped the IV out. They had to give me a big dose of Benadryl to 'reverse' the effects. Please, please think twice and consider other choices before taking this!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER when I was experiencing headaches and vomiting due to a new medication I was put on. The doctors gave me Compazine, Toradol, and Benadryl through my IV. After a few minutes, I experienced the worst feelings of my life. I was thrown into a huge panic attack, I couldn't sit still, my heart rate rose to over 130. I had to stay in the hospital for 5 extra hours just to get my heart rate to return to normal. It took 24+ hours for the initial panic feeling to go away, and now going on 48 hours, my head still feels all foggy and I get dizzy when I stand up for long periods of time. I hope I return to normal soon, and I would not recommend this medication to anyone!!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I suffered with Meniere’s and was given this medication, prochlorperazine, via my GP. Whilst on the medication, I was fine. The problems began as soon as I stopped! I developed severe anxiety and horrific panic attacks. Prior to taking prochlorperazine, I never had panic attacks. The panic attacks would sometimes last from evening all throughout the night until morning. I’d never known such feelings of terror, dread, fear, etc. I still suffer with mild anxiety, and it’s been more than a year since cessation. Avoid at all costs!"

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "I remember thinking I wanted my migraines back because of how this med made me feel. I still feel horrible and jittery and panicky. When they gave it to me, I wanted to run, and I couldn’t sit still, and I was freaking out. I do not recommend this at all, ever."

Prochlorperazine "I went in to the ER with a headache and numbness in my face, arms, and legs. I was immediately given Benadryl and Compazine. I started to feel very restless. I couldn't stop moving. My heart rate increased, and I felt like I was checking out of reality. All I could feel was sheer panic. I wanted to run around, scream, all I could do was beg everyone to help me. Because of this, I'm afraid to take medicine, and I'm afraid to go back to the ER. I was amazed to see others had similar reactions when I was made to feel crazy during my visit to the ER. I think the people administering these medications should be aware of the side effects and have something readily available to stop the effects or be able to sedate a patient and keep them to prevent them from feeling those effects. I was not in my right mind to choose to go home and feel that I scared my family when I did choose to go home because of how irrational I was feeling/acting."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was given this drug in the ER for nausea and a bad headache. The nurse gave me this drug but said it was a Benadryl 'cocktail.' Immediately when I felt it pushed through the IV, my skin began to burn, and I started to have a choking sensation. Honest to goodness, I felt like I was going to die. I started to have the worst panic attack of my life. The heart monitor I was hooked up to started beeping like crazy, and my blood pressure shot through the roof. I was so scared because I drove myself to the ER. I felt like I was losing my freaking mind on this drug. The only thing the doctor on call said to me was, 'Well, I guess you are allergic to Compazine.' I was like, YOU THINK!! The next day, they let me drive myself home.... To this day, I have no memory of how I made it home, but I'm so thankful I made it safely. Word of caution, please be careful if you are ever given this drug. I feel like I have PTSD from that terrible night in the ER because of it. It's a HORRIBLE drug."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I feel for all of you very much. All of those bad experiences, I also had. Plus, doctors and nurses don't seem to care, at least most don't. About 13 years ago, I went to the ER for nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. I didn't feel well when I went in. As soon as they put Compazine in my IV, I felt terrible panic, restlessness, anxiety. I could not sit, lay down, or stay in one place for more than 5 minutes. I pulled my IV out and started running to my friend. I thought maybe I had a stroke. I didn't know. My friend tried to talk to the doctors. I was outside, I couldn't do anything to feel any better. I waited to die. I was afraid I would hurt someone. I was one of the top weightlifters in the world. I started banging my head as hard as I could on the concrete wall. Then I went back in the hospital bleeding. I thought then the doctors would do something to help me. They called the police, my friend got me home. I was worse. I took some Xanax. I still have anxiety from that experience."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Was given this at the ER about 4 months ago for gallbladder-related nausea, had the worst panic attack I have ever experienced, tried to rip the IV out of my arm and run out of the hospital, have had many extreme panic attacks since. I have had panic attacks before but never within 6 months of each other. I get them at least 10 times a month now. Wish I had never taken this medication."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Normally I am given Nubaine. However, this time a younger ER doctor was hopping on the 'no opioid' bandwagon. Everything seemed fine, then all of a sudden I wanted to rip out the IV. Benadryl made it better, but I now seem to be prone to panic attacks in closed rooms. I never had this before. Are opioids worse than this? No!"

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "I was given Compazine about 3 weeks ago. Most horrible experience of my life. I tried to pull out my IV. I felt like I was literally going to die, and now, thanks to this medication, I suffer from PTSD because it was so traumatic. I have constant panic attacks. Compazine has ruined my life."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Went to the ER for nausea and dizziness. They gave me this horrible medication in my IV. Once it hit my bloodstream, I went straight into panic mode. I wanted to rip the IV out and run home. I had anxiety and panic attacks since they gave me this horrible medication. It needs to be taken off the market. Doctors need to warn patients about the side effects before giving it to them. Just horrible."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Compazine during inpatient chemo treatment in 1999 (as a cheaper anti-nausea med, as I was on Medicaid). The doctors said it 'may' cause agitation/work poorly for younger people (I was 25 at the time). The agitation and horrible feelings were immediate. It got so bad I ended up just twitching, crying, and moaning into my pillow. My skin was crawling, I was flooded with anxiety/panic. I could not lay/sit still. The next chemo treatment was the same, so I never asked for/took it again. I'd rather have gone without anti-nausea meds than go through that again. I later found one of the night doctors who was sympathetic, and I got samples of the good (modern) anti-nausea meds. No akathisia at all."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I took prochlorperazine medication for seasickness and had no idea about the side effects. Since I have had this medication, I have felt the worst anxiety, fearful, tired, depressed, feeling like I want to just be knocked out and make it all go away. Having severe nightmares followed by shaking, panic attacks, and terrible thoughts. I really wish I had read these reviews first. I took some temazepam last night to relax, but it's not really doing anything. If anyone could make any suggestions that could help, I would appreciate it so much."

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "Please do not take this medication. I went to the ER for a week-long migraine. They gave me this along with something else. I can’t take Benadryl, so I refused that. Minutes after it was put in my IV, my heart was in the 140s for hours (I already suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and was already nervous). Mind you, I’m on metoprolol as well, which lowers your heart rate, and even that didn’t bring it down. I was restless to the point of insanity, scared, anxious, and alone, and had a panic attack. I had to call the nurse who sat with me while I was having a full-blown panic attack. He was great, thankfully. After discharge, the panic, fear, and restlessness lasted hours. I couldn’t be alone because I was so scared. I am also sensitive to medication and refuse a lot of stuff due to a bad prior experience with something. This is why I do not trust anything anymore. This drug was horrible, and I recommend you DO NOT take this drug ever."

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "I went to the ER yesterday for a migraine. Was given Compazine. It gave me the worst panic attack of my life. I couldn’t stop moving. I felt like I needed to tear the skin off my body. I was screaming. I wanted to rip out my IV and blood pressure cuff. Struggling to maintain control of my body/thoughts, I lied and told them the headache was gone and to discharge me immediately or I would leave on my own. Told the nurse I wasn’t okay. She said, “The Compazine does that sometimes, but it will pass.” It didn’t pass. It hasn’t passed. I have never felt so uncomfortable. Today, I feel like my skin is crawling. I can’t sit still, can’t sleep, or lay down. I can’t focus, and every part of my body just feels off. I’ve been desperately calling any medical professional I can think of to get help/relief. I refuse to go back to the ER. I would take a severe migraine any day over how I’m feeling right now. I already suffer from depression and anxiety, and this has thrown me into a tailspin."

For Nausea/Vomiting "SCARIEST drug on the market. This drug forever changed my life and not for the better. Three months after a single intravenous dose in an emergency room for nausea, I still randomly and suddenly re-feel the effects of this drug. It honestly makes me feel awful whenever the effects re-emerge. The hospital deemed me 'allergic to the medication' after experiencing seizures that keep occurring for 72 hours, along with severe restlessness accompanied by dizziness, involuntary movements, and severe panic. I paced back and forth, unable to sit or sleep for five days straight. MY SKIN STILL CRAWLS AND MY BONES WANT TO JUMP OUT OF MY BODY BECAUSE OF COMPAZINE (discontinued name for prochlorperazine, FYI). READ AND BELIEVE THE REVIEWS, PEOPLE!!!! THIS DRUG IS ABSOLUTELY DANGEROUS and truly destroys lives. I have never been so afraid and disoriented in my entire life as I was on this medication. I never could have imagined what an 'out of body' experience was truly like until I was administered Compazine."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Refuse this medication. Went in with the worst headache of my life, confusion, and a heavy, wave-like sensation in my body. Was given Compazine and Benadryl through IV, was told I’d have anxiety. I have generalized anxiety disorder and pharmacophobia, so that in itself was irresponsible, I think. Instant panic attack, feeling of being on the edge of blacking out, constant, horrible anxiety, the wave-like sensation, mood changes, and akathisia for the past month since being treated with this medication once."

"Had the worst effect ever! I went to the hospital for a wild and scary migraine that affected my right eye. They put the medication through the IV, and after 15 minutes, I started feeling this discomfort. It was really scary. I wanted to rip off the IV and run home. They did not even tell me about the side effect of this medication, which is so bad. I had the worst night ever as I had a panic attack and felt out of this world. Would NOT recommend this medicine to anybody. I had to go back to the ER to know what type of medicine they gave me."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I can only iterate what people on here have been saying. I was admitted to the ER for feeling nauseous, and without asking me, they injected Compazine into me. At first, my symptoms got better, and I felt fine. About 30 minutes later, I started to feel really, really terrible. I became so anxious I had no idea what to do with myself. I was meant to be waiting with a couple of friends of mine in the ER for my blood tests, but I ran out and left my friends to go home. I paced my house and couldn’t stop. I felt so anxious and restless that I thought I was dying. I was convinced I was having a stroke. My heart was racing, and I couldn’t breathe. I’ve never had a panic attack in my life. It was the worst experience of my life, and it lasted almost 48 hours. I genuinely have PTSD from this experience. Do not, under any circumstances, take this medication."

Prochlorperazine "I went to the ER with a spinal headache after a lumbar puncture. This medication was given with Benadryl, and it made me flip out. As the nurse gave me Compazine, I felt my ability to speak leave my body, and I couldn’t keep my mind on track. At first, it was great and really knocked the headache back. Then, the crazies started. I was tossing and turning, I couldn’t get comfortable. I felt like I wanted to run naked down the halls screaming. I started to panic and ended up sending my mom to get the doctor. It was this fear of panic and dread, all I could think was how long it would last. Initially, I refused any more medications because I was so scared. They ended up adding Cogentin after talking me down, which knocked me out because I was so upset. Not a great experience."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Went to the hospital today because I was suffering from vertigo and nausea. They gave me this medication to stop that, and instead, I had the worst-ever panic attack and could not stop shaking. Felt like I was about to jump out of my own body and just all around a very disgusting feeling of not being able to sit still. Thankfully, went to another hospital that gave me an antidote against this. Felt better almost immediately and fell asleep. Still feeling a little jittery at the moment, but not as bad as before, which is good. But I wouldn't recommend this. Ask the hospital for a different drug to treat you, this was the worst experience of my life."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Was given Compazine for the first time in the ER. It was mixed in a cocktail for my headache. After 3 minutes, I started feeling uneasy, and I started to have a full panic attack. I’ve never felt that in my life! I ripped my IV out of my arm and started kicking the walls and stomping, they thought I was insane! I told them it was the medicine, they didn’t do anything, just released me, and I felt like my skin was crawling for 3 days. Was the absolute worst experience of my whole life!"
