Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the hospital due to a severe migraine and nausea. I was given Compazine via I.V. Oh dear! I immediately began having chattering teeth, severe anxiety, and uncontrollable clenching of teeth. I also could not remain still, as if I wanted to get out of there as fast as I could. I called the nurse in, and the response was, 'Oh, yeah, you feel kinda outta it?' Well, yes, it will pass, don't worry! ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW! It's just by the grace of God that I got home safely. My teeth continued to chatter, and I could not sit still! I had to go back to the ER to get medicine to counter the side effects. I feel a little better now. Day 2 and still feel out of it. I WILL NEVER TAKE Compazine again!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Was given Compazine for the first time in the ER. It was mixed in a cocktail for my headache. After 3 minutes, I started feeling uneasy, and I started to have a full panic attack. I’ve never felt that in my life! I ripped my IV out of my arm and started kicking the walls and stomping, they thought I was insane! I told them it was the medicine, they didn’t do anything, just released me, and I felt like my skin was crawling for 3 days. Was the absolute worst experience of my whole life!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I wish I could give this drug 0/10 stars. This is not a drug that I would give to my worst enemy-and I have tried many drugs for migraines! I was given this with the migraine cocktail in the ER, which also includes Benadryl and Toradol. I experienced extreme anxiety and restlessness. I wanted to rip the IV out of my arm and run out of the hospital... not that I could have done this anyway because it caused me to have extrapyramidal and dystonic side effects! When I got discharged from the ER, this was the worst night of my life. My friend had to sleep over because I was freaking out. The side effects lasted for 2 days."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Worst medication! About 9 years ago, when I was in high school, I caught mono and was vomiting a few times when my mother took me to an ER/urgent care. They gave me an IV with Compazine and a prescription for home. It wasn't until maybe the second day I couldn't move my muscles. I had ZERO movement in my body and could barely walk or get dressed. Nothing. I constantly shook like I was having a seizure. I couldn't sleep for an entire week! Let alone sit still. It was constant anxiety. It's like I lost all ability to relax. It was a living hell. When I went back to the urgent care, the lady literally told me it was mono. I went home and continued to take this medication, not knowing I had a severe allergic reaction. Finally, I went back again and got a doctor who actually knew what was going on! He told me to stop taking Compazine ASAP. People get PERMANENT damage from this! It took over a month for this to leave my system, and until this day, the anxiety is still there."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Do NOT use Compazine!! I went to the ER for a severe migraine that lasted a week. They put me on Compazine, and within just a few minutes, I was shaking uncontrollably, couldn’t keep still, and had extreme anxiety, like if I didn’t leave the hospital RIGHT AWAY, my entire life would just go down the toilet. This was the only time I ever ripped out an IV. I called the nurse in, and I could only mumble “Oh God, what did you do to me” over and over again. After some of these other reviews, I count myself lucky that my symptoms only lasted a single night and the migraine did go away. But still, I will never take it again!"

For Anxiety "I was put on this for labyrinthitis, which was making me super anxious as I was so disoriented and nauseous. It helped with all those things, didn't realize how much until I forgot a pill and felt super anxious and awful. Staying on it until further notice!!!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I get severe nausea from IBS and anxiety, the only thing that has helped is prochlorperazine 5 mg! Don't be scared by these reviews, 95% of the bad reviews are talking about IV/injection prochlorperazine, which clearly reacts very differently to the much lower pill dose. Within 30 minutes, all of my nausea and most of my anxiety disappear, and it doesn't make me sleepy or dizzy either - unless I take more than one pill or take it with other medications that cause drowsiness. I never review medications, but I had to show that not everyone has a bad experience with this med."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "It is absolutely horrible. I went into the ER yesterday with a bad headache on one side. They wanted to give me some cocktail that included Compazine and Benadryl combined. I said no. I should have done my research on Compazine prior to getting it intravenously. The worst mistake of my life. I had shakes, anxiety, which I don't have, the worst dry mouth of my life, that I almost choked on my sugar pill. I felt like it had been out in the desert for a year. I could not keep my mouth moist fast enough. It has been almost 24 hours, and I'm still not back to 100 percent yet. That drug is toxic. I would never, I don't care how much pain I'm in, ever take that drug."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Was prescribed this for an ongoing condition of vertigo to help with the nausea. I took two pills, and it gave me the worst anxiety I have ever experienced. It felt like I wasn’t even in my own body. I lost my appetite for about a week, my heart rate was through the roof, and it was a struggle to breathe properly. I’m only 20 years old, and it took me a good month to recover fully from this drug. Whilst my vertigo had gone the next day, the side effects were so much worse than the original problem."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "It has been a little over six months since I was given Compazine through my IV when I had a migraine, and I am still not right. It’s important to note that prior to the injection, I have never had any problems with mental health besides intermittent anxiety (mild). I went to the ER for a severe migraine that had been lasting a few days. I was given Compazine through my IV for the pain. I immediately had the worst panic attack of my life. I can’t even compare it to other panic attacks I’ve had because it was profoundly horrific. Wanting to escape, suicidal thoughts, terror, wanting to rip the IV out of my arm, and extreme restlessness. I have had debilitating anxiety ever since. After reading many of the reviews, I see most people feel better after a few days, but that hasn’t been the case for me. I have now been struggling with never feeling at peace or comfort. I can no longer feel love, happiness, joy, or even experience laughter. I walked out of that hospital a different person. Please avoid."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER last night with nausea and vomiting. I was given Zofran, but it had soon worn off. I told the doctor, and he said he would give me something else. The nurse came in with the Compazine. She gave it to me through my IV. Within minutes, I started to feel really jittery and restless! I started to become anxious and fidgety, and I wanted to rip my IV out of my arm. The medicine worked for the nausea, but it's definitely not worth the side effects! It was the worst feeling ever!!! It has been 21 hours since, and I still don't feel right. The symptoms have calmed down a lot, but I'm still not 100%."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I have been given Compazine in my IV, and it was one of the most horrible experiences of my life! It almost immediately made me very anxious, I wanted to pull my IV out and just get out of the hospital! I felt zombie-like, and my face went numb. I had side effects like these for about 3 days! Never again will I take Compazine!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "The absolute worst experience with an antiemetic I have ever had. I literally panicked in the hospital to the point I almost pulled my IV out. Zofran stopped working for my hyperemesis gravidarum, but I would rather live with nausea and vomiting day in and out than feel the uncontrolled anxiety and restlessness I felt with Compazine!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have cancer and have been going through chemotherapy. I was prescribed prochlorperazine to reduce the nausea related to the chemotherapy. For this purpose, the drug did work. I would become less nauseous after taking it. This drug did come with a hefty list of side effects. It gave me chest pains like heartburn and a feeling of anxiety. It reduced my feeling in my face to the point where it felt like I was wearing a mask. I also had a hard time falling asleep, and when I was asleep, I had very vivid, crazy nightmares."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I thought I had the flu, so I went to the ER to get tested. It came back negative, but since I had a migraine, they gave me a “headache cocktail” which my sister had a bad reaction to, but I had forgotten (after all, I had a migraine and couldn't think straight). I got the IV meds, and one of them was Compazine...the awful liquid itself. Immediately, I had trouble getting comfortable, and my throat felt like I had a shrunken airway, but the doctors said it was just anxiety. So, it’s 4 in the morning, and I’m stumbling around the hospital waiting for my prescription and my stepdad to come pick me up, and I’m falling asleep any time I sit down. As soon as I got home, I fell into bed and couldn’t sleep unless my legs were writhing around. Then I slept off and on for almost 20 hours. I sweated most of the medication out, thank goodness, but I’ve never had anything like it happen before. I was by myself and was terrified. Why is this medication even still given?!?"

For Anxiety "I went to emergency with a migraine and had Stemetil, aka prochlorperazine. After only receiving half of the IV, I was so bad I felt the urge to jump out of my skin. The anxiety was more than horrendous, the need to want to take my own life was huge! I can’t explain the feeling or what it did to me. I was then sedated, and it still only took away the feeling slightly. It’s now day three, and I feel better but still not 100%."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I had been suffering from severe nausea and vomiting on and off, including migraine, fever, and flank pain. It was my second time in the ER, so they gave me Compazine and I'd never had it, it relieved my nausea and migraine, but I started feeling so restless. I was freaking out, like I wanted to rip out my IV and leave and run away. Then they told me it's a side effect, and I already suffered from severe anxiety, it made it 1000x worse. I had the worst time trying to sleep, then had the weirdest dreams of my life. They gave me morphine shortly after, which calmed me a little and took the rest of my pain away, but I was hoping it'd honestly put me out. 24 hours later, and I still feel that restlessness in my body, but it's so much better than it was."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I suffer from severe headaches on occasion, and usually Excedrin will do the trick. I had a headache several months ago that was there for 3 days. I finally broke down and went to the ER. They gave me Compazine and put me in a waiting room. Within five minutes, I felt terrified, like I had to get away. I told my wife to tell them to get my IV off me, or I would rip it out of my arm. They let me sign out AMA, and I fled the hospital. For several hours after, I felt like the walls were closing in and doom was imminent. I hate this medication and will NEVER take it again. Beware!!!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER for stomach pains and nausea. I am allergic to so many pain medicines that there is little I can take. They gave me Compazine, and as they put it in my IV, they told me it could cause severe anxiety in some people. Well, I can tell you now, it was horrific. I have had one major panic attack in my life, and this was 20 times worse. I started pulling off my clothes and ripped the IV out. They had to give me a big dose of Benadryl to 'reverse' the effects. Please, please think twice and consider other choices before taking this!"

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "I really wish I would have read these comments before I was given Compazine through an IV. Only let them give me half the dose after I started feeling like I was going to pass out. Worst experience of my life. My heart rate was 174 for hours, and I couldn't stop pacing back and forth for hours. Anxiety at its very worst. I honestly thought I was going to black out constantly and also felt like I was going to rip my IV out of my arm, take my clothes off, and just run. I wish this drug upon no one. The hospital should be sued for giving this drug to patients. Stay away... I pray no one else goes through this. It's been 30 hours, and I do feel better than I did, but I still feel a bit jumpy and not myself..."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "My doc gave me this medication over 20 years ago for nausea. I ended up having an allergic reaction. I had anxiety, and I couldn’t relax all day. I went to the hospital because of dystonia. Awful day. It also induced OCD, which I have been dealing with ever since. Has this terrible medication triggered OCD in others?"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I suffered with Meniere’s and was given this medication, prochlorperazine, via my GP. Whilst on the medication, I was fine. The problems began as soon as I stopped! I developed severe anxiety and horrific panic attacks. Prior to taking prochlorperazine, I never had panic attacks. The panic attacks would sometimes last from evening all throughout the night until morning. I’d never known such feelings of terror, dread, fear, etc. I still suffer with mild anxiety, and it’s been more than a year since cessation. Avoid at all costs!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was given this awful medication in a migraine cocktail. Within minutes, I was so anxious that I yanked my IV out and ran out of the hospital room. For hours, I couldn't stop moving my legs. It's been 3 days, and I'm still so anxious. I made the pharmacy write in notes that I was allergic to Compazine - prochlorperazine, so this never happens again."
