Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "BLEAH! This stuff was foul tasting, and while I was able to get down the first dose, which I took at 6 p.m., my body wasn't having anything to do with finishing the second dose, which I started at 6 a.m. I had just finished the third glassful and promptly threw up. No heaves; just opened my mouth and it left in a hurry. Now I'm due for another colonoscopy, since obviously the prep for the first one didn't work, and I'm going to try to take Suprep. Wish me luck."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "You know how the dentist always had that fluoride paste that they let you choose the flavor of as a kid, bubblegum or orange or chocolate, and the supposed 'flavor' was always a lie? This is like that but worse. It supposedly tastes like mango. I've never had a mango that tastes like saltwater. The flavor and consistency is disturbingly similar to semen. So hard to get it down without retching. I swear the prep I did for years ago, which made me want to die, was less disgusting than this one."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "So I was absolutely terrified to use this medication due to the reviews and the fact that every time I have done a colonoscopy prep, I get violently ill, like both ends going at the same time. It is just horrible. But this one surprisingly did not make me vomit. I will say this time around I made sure throughout the day I stayed very hydrated, and I took Zofran prior to starting, which I think helped a lot. I did notice chills at the beginning, and then I did have some body aches, but this went away. I kept the prep super cold and drank it slowly. I also put mine over ice and chased it with water or apple juice. For reference, also I am 23 and 112 pounds. It is a tough prep but just breathe and take your time. :) It is all for a good cause."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "This is a revolting substance. Managed to down a liter in an hour and a half (started at 5 pm, it is now 7:40 pm). Been on the loo since about 6:45 pm, it is certainly working. However, I am DREADING taking the next liter at 8 pm and wondering how I will make it downstairs to actually retrieve the solution! I threw up the last glassful I took. Surely there is a better way than this?!!! ☹️"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I have had 4 colonoscopies due to a family history of cancer. This prep was absolutely awful. It was so salty, and they ruined my love for mangos by giving it a mango flavor to hide the wretched taste. The 2nd dose was worse. I could hardly get it down and then felt like vomiting. They flavored this one 'fruit punch.' I told the doctor that I wanted it charted to never prescribe Plenvu again!"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Upon completion of the first dose, I vomited immediately. The dose tasted so awful, I felt as if I was drinking poisonous chemicals. I prefer the old way of bowel preparation, more complicated, however, it never made me violently vomit."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Honestly, the worst thing I have ever drank in my entire life. The texture was so bizarre. Was prescribed 2L to drink, only managed 1.25L because I kept vomiting. Was okay, though, because it still cleared my bowel, ready for my colposcopy and endoscopy."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I'm currently struggling to drink this disgusting liquid, and I'm just ughhh. It tastes like a nasty lemonade with no sugar. With each sip that I take, I'm gagging and trying not to throw up. I am, however, feeling a bubbling sensation in my stomach, and I've only taken 10 sips."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I just had a colonoscopy on 8/4/21, plus I am years post-op Bariatric Surgery. Well, I was told to take Plenvu, and it made me throw up both days due to taste and quantity. It did do what it was supposed to, but the taste is awful. I then found out I could have taken 24 pills total (very expensive) or Suprep (not as expensive as pills) unflavored but more to drink. Plenvu is nasty tasting, no matter how you take it!!!"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Started the first dose at 3:30 pm. By 4:45 pm, I had 3/4 down but had to quit because I was gagging and almost throwing it up with each drink. It's 9:20 pm, and nothing has happened yet. I feel like I have to go, but nothing is happening, like I'm constipated. I'm worried because I know they will stop the procedure and make you come back if you aren't cleaned out. I have my second dose planned for 4 AM. Hopefully, it is working by then."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "A two-day prep. Colonoscopy set for the afternoon. So Dose 1 at 6 pm yesterday evening. Wish I had a straw in the house after reading these comments. Trying to get the stuff down while simultaneously sipping weak orange squash had me gagging somewhat, and I think I forced it down quicker than the 'sip slowly over 30 minutes' recommended in the instructions, solely to get it over with. Started working about an hour later,... then about 4 or 5 times after that. Dose 2 was worse, mainly because my first drink of choice as soon as I wake is a nice strong tea with milk, not a hideously sickly sweet and salty powder concoction, with a side of weak squash and a sinking feeling of an impending long visit to the bathroom to follow. Hurrah. On the whole, it does what it says on the tin. I am at the clear yellow stage, though I do wonder when it will ease off as I have been in and out of the loo for about 2.5 hours now. Bearable discomfort for necessary probings later."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Horrible! The first 8 oz, okay, 2nd, okay. Got to the last 8 oz of the first liter, and I want to vomit! I am not one to throw up, but I am begging myself to keep it down. I am chilled. It's okay. Started at 5:45 and already watery stools at 7:26. I cannot fathom having to drink the next liter. Why can't I just take pills??? Tried hard candy-no, tried chilled-no, straw not helping! Look, I would rather be on a liquid diet for 3 days!"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I had this for the first time on the 26/11/17. What can I say? The amount you have to drink in the time scale is a lot. I chilled it and used a straw to manage the first liter, no problem. A bit gagging, it's not so much the taste but the consistency of it. The 2nd lot: well, I managed 1 glass, then the next glass I vomited it up. I started at 5 pm and was still pooping at 6 am (I got up at 2 am, 5 am, and 6 am, it was only the one movement each time). I went for a colonoscopy, I hoped I had prepped enough, and I had, thank goodness. I had no cramps or bloating with it."

For Bowel Preparation "Had to take it before my colonoscopy, and really had trouble keeping it down. I gagged and threw up more than I got down (or so it seemed), but it did begin to clean me out. Almost through the first course (started at 7:45 pm and it's now 9:40 pm), and I'm already dreading the second round that begins at 2:00 am for my 7:15 am appointment. Not looking forward to this again. Will ask for something different the next time. I would forego the colonoscopy just so I could skip the prep, but with pre-cancerous polyps found three times in the past, I can't skip having my yearly colonoscopy. God help me!"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "The most difficult experience to take this I have ever had with drinking medicine. Struggled not to vomit and had to block my nose to reduce the taste. I could not finish drinking either of my doses within the advised 30-minute drinking time for each and had to drink each over an hour. I tried using chewing gum mint and polo mints to help with the taste, but it didn't really work. I suggest using a straw and avoiding your taste buds completely. I had chills and became incredibly anxious as I felt drinking it would never end. Traumatizing has been used to describe this by others, and I agree. It worked with its bowel clearing, but it took me so long to drink the second dose I had to finish it on the toilet because things started moving before I could finish. After the second dose is taken three hours after the first, as prescribed by my particular doctor, it was five hours until I could sleep in the middle of the night, as I kept needing the toilet from my bowels."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "The first dose was horrible but productive. The second dose in the morning went down but was extremely horrible, and I threw the whole thing up. Awaiting a callback from the doctor to see if the colonoscopy was canceled! I do not recommend it."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "3rd routine colonoscopy. Received this product from Kroger pharmacy. This was by far the worst prep experience. Lemon flavor okay, getting it down okay, but esophagitis all night, bloating, pain, nausea, vomiting x 8 with pink color. I did not vomit until after all prep down. The clean out was good. I never had this with prior."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "First dose was bad. Really bad. Tried to be proactive with taking Zofran about 40 mins before. Still struggled to choke it down. It was thick, sweet/salty. Absolutely disgusting. Fought off gagging with every sip. Struggled trying not to vomit it up. 2nd dose was worse if that's possible. I have done a colon prep 2 other times. First was over 10 years ago. They gave me a gallon jug with a powder you mixed with water. Did another back in June prior to hysterectomy. That time was Dulcolax, 8 oz bottle of Miralax mixed with 64 oz of Powerade. So much better than Plenvu. And it cleaned me out fine! Not sure they use Plenvu. Plus, it's expensive and not covered by insurance. I will not be doing this again."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "There are a lot of negative reviews of Plenvu on this site (and other sites), possibly because people are more likely to post negative reviews of a drug/medication than a positive review. I've never taken a bowel prep before, but have to say that with Plenvu the experience wasn't as bad as I expected..... - Taste: It's not *that bad* in my opinion and tastes a bit like a saltier version of a sports drink. Refrigerate it beforehand and drink it through a straw and you'll be OK. Why are people complaining about the taste? - It's a medicine, not a cocktail. - Volume: It's only 2 liters (1 liter of prep and 1 liter of water) - less than many other solutions. - Effectiveness: It does its job. I didn't experience any nausea/vomiting, no chills and no cramps - and I would class myself as someone with a sensitive digestive system. You will be dehydrated afterwards, so continue to drink plenty of water up until the procedure cutoff time."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "OMG! My fourth colonoscopy and this is the worst, foulest, horrible, tasty prep I have ever had. Not only is it disgustingly putrid, it has an odd jelly-like texture. Had nausea on and off. But on phase 2, it was not as jelly-like texture-wise, but still not good flavor at all, and unfortunately, nausea came on immediately, and after I was done, I ended up vomiting up about half of the second dose. Now I don't know what to do about the colonoscopy scheduled at 7:30 tomorrow morning. I guess I'll just sit here and continue to drain and then make a phone call in the morning. This was horrific in flavor."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I followed the low-fiber diet for 4 days, the last day I followed the instructions provided by the Plenvu manufacturer, not by the hospital leaflet. I dissolved two doses of Plenvu in bottled water in the morning and kept them refrigerated until the required time. I had a last meal of scrambled eggs, white bread toast, and soft lactose-free cheese with a cup of chamomile tea at 2 pm. I started sipping the first dose of Plenvu with a thin straw at 6 pm. The taste reminded me of the taste of salty water/concentrated tears mixed with sweetener and flavor. It was quite difficult to consume, but I did not have any nausea or gagging. My first bowel movement happened 70 minutes after I started drinking Plenvu. I drank 1.5 liters of water between 6:30 and 9 pm. The second dose was more difficult to drink and tasted worse, I made 3 sips at a time, followed by a small sip of water each time. I drank 1 liter of water after it. The bowel was completely clean by 11:30 pm. The colonoscopy was at 11 am, and I was told my prep was great."
