For Bowel Preparation "I'm 26, this is my 1st colonoscopy. I have nothing to compare the prep to. Dose 1 is FOUL. Gag with every sip, even when chased with ice water. Projectile vomit twice, one halfway and one when done. I had to lay down and shut my eyes because of the nausea. I had a migraine all day, so that probably contributed. I was bloated, but did not have a BM until I started dose 2. Whoever suggested a hot bath is a SAINT because I felt so awful after dose 1. I didn't know how to cope, the bath helps. Dose 2 is much more tolerable. Less powder, less thick. Flavor is better. Still very salty and needs an ice water chaser. The liquid BMs have been really frequent since starting dose 2. It's been hard to drink in between. However, there is no abdominal pain involved. It is amazing compared to the awful pain I have had that has driven me to get this done. All in all, I was scared to death about dose 2 because of how awful dose 1 was. But that made dose 2 seem kinder."

For Bowel Preparation "First bowel prep for colonoscopy. Dr. recommended a two-day approach. The first dose taken the day prior to the procedure is pretty bad. Envision a child making you a mango drink only to realize they just put a cup of salt followed by a cup of sugar. Had a glass of ice water as a chaser. Tried gulping down as much as I could. I do not suggest this method as I came close to vomiting! Had to use some serious mental fortitude to finish. Finished in 20 minutes. Took about an hour to start working. Ten total visits to the toilet by 5 a.m. the next day. Started dose 2 at 7:30 a.m. Dose 2 was better tasting if we are allowing for degrees of hell. Worked in 30 minutes. Visited the restroom at least 7 times but seemed milder than dose 1. All in all, it worked as expected, but the delivery method could be improved. I would swallow 30 fast-dissolving pills if it meant I didn't have to drink that mango drink."

For Bowel Preparation "I was glad I only had to drink half as much prep as I did ten years ago, but the nausea, vomiting, and chills were unexpected side effects. I know there is some really bright person who can develop a better prep that doesn’t include drinking horrible liquids that cause such nausea and vomiting and a general feeling of being ill. I am not exaggerating when I say this prep tastes horrible, and the thick salty sweet is almost impossible to drink. I hope it works, and I can have the procedure tomorrow morning. If not, I won’t repeat this prep again and will ask for the older stuff that was bad but didn’t make me sick."

For Bowel Preparation "I need a yearly colonoscopy because of a high-risk malignant polyp found in 2015. So I have had several different preps. Plenvu is the worst. The first packet was sickeningly sweet and very salty. I followed all directions. The second packet was just as bad. About 30 minutes into drinking the second packet, I vomited, while bowel was evacuating. Unbelievably terrible experience. Nothing good to say about this prep."

For Bowel Preparation "The worst bowel prep I have ever tried. I’ve had two colonoscopies before with no problems. Back on my feet the next day. Not this time!! Managed dose 1 but could not keep down dose 2. Violent vomiting. Had to cancel the colonoscopy. Two days later, I can’t eat; still have horrible cramping and watery stools. I’m pretty tough, but this has tipped me over the edge. And without having the actual procedure!! Hate to think what state I’d be in if I had dose 2!!! Do not take this!!"

For Bowel Preparation "On the day before the colonoscopy, I woke up and took my high blood pressure pill with a sip of water. I ate 2 gelatin at 3 pm and drank a glass of Welch's white grape juice. I mixed the GaviLyte solution the day before so it could get nice and chilled. At 5 pm, I drank the 1st 8 oz every 10 minutes for the next 3 hours until consumed. To my surprise, it went smoothly. I didn't experience any nausea or vomiting, but I felt a bit lightheaded at first. The trips to the bathroom came after about 45 minutes, and I was able to catch a few zzzz's later in the night w/o too many interruptions. (I had a colonoscopy last year and found some precancerous polyps, so I'm going back for another checkup today). GaviLyte G with lemon pack is the best!!!"

For Bowel Preparation "I had used GoLYTELY as prep for a colonoscopy. I was required to drink 2 liters between 4-6 pm and another 2 liters at midnight. That’s a lot of liquid. I don’t think I could drink that much of something I loved. Needless to say, I couldn’t get through the first two liters and ended up canceling my procedure because my system was not sufficiently flushed. The taste wasn’t an intense or gross taste—at first. But as I kept drinking, it began to taste like salt water. My body naturally decided that drinking two liters of this stuff was too much, and I began vomiting. This was meant to be my second colonoscopy, but my first time using GoLYTELY as the prep. Very disappointed in this stuff and the fact that there are doctors who still use this 4-liter prep approach when, apparently, there are much better and lesser-volume options available."

For Bowel Preparation "Took my first dose, it was horrible tasting. I could barely take a sip without gagging in disgust. I got a method of a sip of the medicine, then a sip of apple juice going, and that worked. About 8 hours later, I started my second dose, which surprisingly tasted even worse than the first dose. I drank half, and after 5 minutes, projectile vomited everything. I waited about 10 minutes and finished the rest and laid down, thinking I would be fine. Nope, as soon as I got back up, I projectile vomited the rest again. Hopefully, I will still be able to have my procedure, but seeing as I threw up all of dose 2, I’m not sure how that will go. 0/10 would not recommend, if you have any other options, please go with those."

For Bowel Preparation "I followed the instructions exactly as prescribed, as well as switched to a low-fiber diet, avoided foods on the do not eat list (nuts, fruits with seeds/skins, legumes, etc.). The day before I had a breakfast of 2 boiled eggs and a potato roll with a little soy butter. After that, it was nothing but clear liquids. I took my first prep dose and within an hour, it seemed to be working. I took the 2nd dose, and this one almost made me vomit as I felt faint. I had nothing to drink after my 2nd dose and still did not have a successful colonoscopy. I now have to go back for a second one in a few weeks... aaaggghhhhh!!!"

For Bowel Preparation "This was the worst thing I have ever experienced. I took the first dose at 6 pm, nothing started happening until 10 pm, and I then spent the whole night on the toilet. No sleep whatsoever. I was shivery and dizzy and felt quite unwell. The second dose was taken at 6 am, I promptly threw up most of this, which the nurse told me was quite common. The Plenvu is by far the nastiest thing I have ever tasted. I did not feel as if I was completely empty, and this was confirmed at the hospital."

For Bowel Preparation "Started tonight with the first dose. I’m not good with liquid medicines at the best of times, but this stuff is horrid. The taste I can cope with, it’s the texture and how it feels in your mouth. Only managed 50% before giving up, as it made me vomit, so I didn’t know which end to point at the loo. Will try again in the morning and add more water to the mix to see if that helps. Can you design a pill version, please."

For Bowel Preparation "I've used this prep twice: the first time I drank it as prepared in the container and followed the instructions: drink 3L within 3 hours. After about 2 1/2L, the nausea became too much... it felt like my body was refusing to allow the prep to leave my stomach the right way, and I ended up vomiting what seemed like an entire liter. The next morning, I tried to drink the remaining 1L, but again I started vomiting. The next time, I used lemon for the prep and ginger ale to wash my mouth out, and I decided to extend the 3 hours to 4. That helped in giving the prep a tolerable taste, and I didn't feel rushed to gulp the solution, but regardless, after 1 1/2L, my stomach said 'no more' and I began vomiting copious amounts. The next morning, I managed to drink only 2/3L. The fact is, for some, GoLYTELY is just not a viable option - for whatever reason, the body won't tolerate it. With the nausea and headache the next morning, I felt like I had literally poisoned my body. I know I will NEVER use it again."

For Bowel Preparation "It's a lot to drink, but you can do it. I used a straw and just chugged it down. I did use the lemon flavoring packet. It really didn't taste too bad. My suggestion is that when you first feel an urge to go... go! This stuff works. My doctor had me take 8 oz every 30 minutes, after the first two doses, it started working. I spent the rest of the day on or near the toilet. An hour after my last dose, I was done. I did not have any cramping, nausea, or vomiting. Overall, not a pleasant experience, but this liquid is not too bad."

For Bowel Preparation "I started taking GaviLyte-G in prep for my colonoscopy. I had to drink 2 liters the night before and 2 liters the morning of. I drank the 2 liters in 2 hours as directed and then began to vomit. After vomiting, I did have diarrhea for several hours. The taste was pretty nasty. It tasted like baking soda, salt, and metal. It was difficult to drink, but I continued to meet the guidelines of 8 oz every 15 minutes in order to consume the 2 liters in the prescribed 2 hours. Having this much liquid in such a short time caused bloating and nausea."

For Bowel Preparation "I'm 29, and this is my second time in less than two months having to take MoviPrep. They couldn't complete the colonoscopy the first time around. Everyone has different side effects, but for me, it makes me so sick. I have to get a colonoscopy every two years, and this terrifies me. I'm very petite, and my stomach just doesn't hold out to 2L of it. I took the first batch at 5 pm, and it took me 2 hours. The second batch is not so easy. I started at 9 pm, and it's now 10:30 pm, and I can't stop vomiting. I've drunk half of the second batch, and my bowel is clear, so I'm hoping that will be enough for my colonoscopy tomorrow. The no eating and sitting on the toilet doesn't bother me at all, I wish there was something less nauseating!"

The fishy aftertaste was also horrible! I vomited just as much as I went to the loo! Ugggg! There has to be a better way to cleanse the colon, people... cause this is pure torture!!!!"

For Bowel Preparation "I thought the second dose was going to kill me before I had even drunk 2/3 of it. I was nauseated and lightheaded. I took a sip of decaffeinated tea, which was quickly followed by simultaneous projectile vomiting and diarrhea. I am so angry that I don't intend to ever have another colonoscopy, let alone attempt to ingest this product EVER again."

For Bowel Preparation "So far, (after first dose, before second) satisfactory. Finished first dose, followed with equal volume of water. Not a great taste, but no gagging or nausea. No other side effects. Liquid bowel movements at 1 and 2 hours after. No anal area problems. May have helped that my instructions included a three-day low fiber diet, then only clear liquids 36 hours before the first dose, and Dulcolax laxative 24 hours before the first dose, so my system was already empty. Also, I weigh 265 lb, so effects possibly different than for smaller people."

For Bowel Preparation "I know many people have trouble with the whole colonoscopy experience, but I really don't know why. To me, it's a very comical experience. Drink a glass every 10 or so minutes, and soon you'll be timing for the bathroom about as frequently. I liked the added note on the GoLYTELY to jiggle your tummy to help remove extra poo. I have to admit, after the whole GoLYTELY experience, I wanted to watch what the whole fuss was about. Watching the scope do its thing was amazing. Now that I have to do it all again, I will not drink quite as fast (I wasted some by projectile vomiting some of it back up ... also comical), but I will dance and jiggle my bowels about to get them as clean as I can. My biggest concern is what flavor to get. Pineapple? NOT."

For Bowel Preparation "Getting ready for colonoscopy and unsuccessfully tried Go-Lightly before. My doctor said to mix with Sprite or Gatorade. I did and used the container provided, put the Sprite in, then Plenvu, and it erupted all over the countertop without stirring or shaking. I was excited to try this new prep, since my family has a history of colon cancer, this is a necessary evil. First gulp, I was horrified! It was so nasty tasting! I tried a few sips and got very nauseous. I wanted this to work, so I added apple juice too. Much easier, but still gagging. I finished it, added more apple juice, and just couldn’t finish the last inch of liquid in the bottom of the container. Very, very slow acting! It has been 4 1/2 hours, and my insides are rumbling, but not much else. I am very disappointed."

For Bowel Preparation "So I've taken MoviPrep Orange, and at first it's not too bad, sort of a salty orange flavor. But then you start to notice the thick, gloopy texture and honestly couldn't stop gagging, absolutely foul taste. Took my first liter at 4 pm, and at 5:30 pm, the movements started. Attempted to take the second liter at 8:30 pm but only managed to get half down. Currently 11:55 pm and still making trips to the bathroom every 15-20 minutes... I'm only a tiny 18-year-old girl. Feel so bad. Definitely don't need the full 2-liter dose, but we'll see tomorrow. This is my third bowel prep, and I will not be doing it again."

For Bowel Preparation "I get nausea and motion sickness very easily. For me, any bowel prep is going to be a challenge. With this in mind, I took some anti-nausea medicine before the first dose (4 mg Ondansetron). That worked well. The second dose was 14 hours after the first. It didn't taste or smell too bad. The ascorbic acid taste (vitamin C) helped a lot. I didn't take any anti-nausea meds for Dose 2. Ninety minutes later, I had forceful vomiting. Cleaning it up at 3:30 a.m. helped to take my mind off the bloating! :-) I had to run several more times up to 4 1/2 hours after starting the second dose. The procedure went smoothly and the endoscopist said that the prep was great, despite the fact that I probably threw up half of the second dose. Next time, I will ask for enough anti-nausea meds to cover both doses of bowel prep. I suggest that others consider this if they are prone to nausea and vomiting. Even good doctors don't think of meds, as less than 10% of people throw up with bowel prep."

I'm now into my morning dose, but I just can't hold it in anymore. I gag after every sip, starting to feel dizzy again, my cheek is cramping up, and I can't even take the smell anymore... If they ever start producing this in pill form, I'll be the happiest man alive."

For Bowel Preparation "Drink MoviPrep chilled and through a straw. The taste is a salty lemon, vile, awful, thick sludge. Use a chaser of ginger ale or white Gatorade. It’s easier to just chug through a straw. Do not. I repeat, do not go far from the bathroom once you start drinking. It started working within 15 minutes, and I had fasted for 26 hours already. And low fiber before that. I got chills, nausea, gagging from the drink and the taste. The chills lasted three hours. The bathroom trips lasted for 4 hours or more but slowed down. You cannot control it. The urge comes, or sometimes does not come. It just happens. Then it’s time for the second dose. I could barely get through the second one, and I’m more nauseated even after a prescribed anti-nausea pill I had on hand from a previous issue."
