For GERD "This website has saved me. I thought I was going crazy! I started taking this drug 2x a day in March of 2021 to cure my chronic gastritis and GERD. At first, this really helped me out because the pain I got from gastritis was unbearable and caused me nausea and appetite loss. Over the summer, I was prescribed to take it for another year. So around October, I started to feel like I wasn’t myself with extreme anxiety and depression. There were many times when I started shaking and panicking for no reason at all. I passed out 2 times, had 3 traumatic panic attacks, and have been dizzy for days. Finally, in December, I was at my lowest and started having dark thoughts. I was so anxious, tired, dizzy, nauseous, had stomach pain, and was depressed. I was so upset that I started feeling this way and cried to my mom. She found this page and became livid! Why would my doctor prescribe me with this medicine for mild gastritis and GERD for a 20-year-old for a year? Horrible. Don’t take this."

For GERD "I've been on pantoprazole for one week. I was sent to GI from my PCP because of inflammation in my throat. The doctor said I may have GERD and wants to do an endoscope in one month after being on this medication. Since taking it, I've been dizzy, had heart palpitations, experienced anxiety, insomnia, and a ridiculous headache. I'm not taking any more after today, I can't take the side effects, nor do I feel this is my issue. I also went to my endocrinologist, and she informed me that the inflammation is from my enlarged thyroid after doing an ultrasound."

For GERD "Awful, awful experience!!! I used to take Nexium for GERD, but my doctors switched me to pantoprazole when I had to start taking a blood thinner, and I couldn’t do Nexium with that. I developed chronic diarrhea (10+ times per day!), daily headaches, severe dizziness, and a feeling like I was spinning when walking and just basically felt like crap for a month before I figured out that it was the pantoprazole! I will never, ever take this drug again!! It might work for some people, but not for me!!!!"

For Erosive Esophagitis "I have been using this treatment (Pantoprazole 40 mg) for 8 days now to treat acid reflux, which resulted in esophagitis irritation. I have tried all natural remedies to no avail. My ORL placed me on this medication. I'm having some negative side effects, like pains in my lower abdomen, hips are painful after 5 days of use. Dizziness each time I take it, can't sleep well, no relief at all. Pain in the lumbar area too. I think I will stop taking it and call my doctor right away."

For Stress Ulcer Prophylaxis "I've been taking Pantoprazole for 2 months, and I feel absolutely awful. Nausea, lack of appetite, dizziness, crying, and pain attacks. I didn't feel this bad before I started taking them. I went to the A&E department just yesterday and explained my symptoms. She doubled my dose! I'm already taking 20 mg twice a day, and she advised 40 mg twice a day. I don't plan on taking these and will finish my packet of 20 mg (only 4 left). I would strongly advise anyone who is thinking of taking Pantoprazole to reconsider."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "prescribed pantoprazole after 2 trips to the ER. Checked for a heart attack and then friend sent me to a gastro doctor. The scope found heartburn scars. Prescribed and now feel dizzy and cramping in the abdominal area and chest. Gonna stop taking it. Feel dizzy all the time and a sense of confusion. Not sure what to do."

For Stomach Ulcer "I thought pantoprazole was a miracle at first. It worked fantastically for my stomach issues. However, I soon started having strange problems. I had COVID previously and thought it was long COVID. I was experiencing brain fog, unreal levels of insomnia, it felt like gallons of adrenaline were flowing through my body. I slept less than 4 hours in 5 days. Utter exhaustion, dizziness, headache, racing heartbeat for no reason, high blood pressure. I never had high blood pressure before. Nausea, weight loss, ringing in my ears that won't stop, panic attack. When I was convinced I was going to die if I closed my eyes, I got off this horrible drug. I've never had a panic attack before. I'm very slowly improving from the side effects, but they are still there after a week off. I was on pantoprazole for about 2 months, it feels like this horrible drug has ruined my life."

For Laryngopharyngeal Reflux "I was given pantoprazole for silent reflux. I took 40 mg in the AM. After 5 weeks, I developed a horrible cough with white mucus. I was fatigued and dizzy, passed out. Requesting blood work discovered my kidneys were compromised. I have been off of it for 1 week, my kidneys have improved, and I’m feeling better, but still have a metallic taste, and my tongue is white. I wonder if I will ever feel better. I believe it’s a toxic drug for me."

For GERD "No, I’m not one to leave a review, but probably like most of you, I’ve been scrolling through Google while thinking I’m dying. This drug was great day 1 and 2. Day 3 and 4 have been the worst I have ever felt. The dizziness and brain fog are nearly unbearable, and I never felt so broken and depressed in my life. 2.5 mg of diazepam seemed to work for a few hours, but then it came straight back. Use this drug for 2 days max."

For GERD "I’ve been on pantoprazole for 2 years for stomach acid, never thought about the fact I went back in the doctor's office with pain in my legs and body. Sent to a rheumatologist who diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. Then I started having pain in my stomach, I started having pain in my feet and was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. Extra heartbeats, had an ablation done. My voice started cracking, had a cyst removed from my vocal cord. All while experiencing dizziness, foggy head, loss of sleep, and headaches. When I’m being put on more medicine to help with what this drug is causing. Wow, reading these reviews is everything I’ve been going through since I’ve started taking them. I’m currently still on them until now, I will not take another one. I can’t believe how long this has been going on and all the different doctors I’ve been going to."

For GERD "I have been on Pantoprazole for almost 3 years. About 4 months after starting Pantoprazole, I started becoming very fatigued and light-headed, but I continued to take it because it helped tremendously with my GERD symptoms. In the past 3 weeks, I’ve become very nauseous and dizzy after taking the medication. Today my new primary doc switched me over to Nexium, and I finally feel relieved of all the bad stuff that Pantoprazole was causing!"

For GERD "Started taking this a week ago for unknown origin chest pain. Was cleared by cardiology, so doctor prescribed this horrible med. On it for a week; heart racing, total anxiety, tightness in chest, dizziness. Wondering what the heck was wrong with me! Didn't help my symptoms at all, either. Done."

For GERD "Went to a doctor because of stomach pain. My own diagnosis is gallbladder/gallstones; he said no, no other explanation and prescribed me pantoprazole. I took it because he knows better; he is the doctor. Took it as soon as I got the meds; unexplainable - belly pain got worse the next day, feverish, lower back pain, anxiety, emotional roller coaster, fatigue, dizziness - it was ugly. It was a very ugly experience! You think you get better taking meds; this is the only medicine that I took that made me feel worse. By the way, I was prescribed 40 mg for 30 days. I took it for 8 days; the original pain location got worse when I was taking this to the point that I wanted to go to the hospital. Also, the pain location changed; I wish I had figured it out earlier. I thought I was going to the hospital kind of pain during the 8 days. I have no idea why he gave me GERD medicine. I didn’t complain of any heartburn. I will try to see if I still have any pain in a week and find another doctor."

For GERD "A miserable medicine. Didn't do a single helpful thing but did provide a horrid headache, and get this - I went to the doctor with severe chest and abdominal pain and needing help for nausea that has been persistent for more than a week, even water wants to, and sometimes does, come back up. I am badly dehydrated. So one of the side effects of this medicine is nausea. Pain is still a real problem, as is nausea, dehydration, plus dizziness. This stuff is worse than useless, and off my list, as is the doctor with a single focus who ignored most of what he was told."

For GERD "Had the flu for almost 4 weeks, then the doctor examined my mouth and said I have a throat infection and gave me some antibiotics and paracetamol for headache along with pantoprazole. After taking it for 3 days, I started getting angular cheilitis and dry mouth. Then I thought it might be because of vitamin deficiency. After finishing my dose, a week later I started having terrible dizziness, malaise, body aches, dry mouth, and a burning sensation in my tongue... then finally came the rashes. Does anybody get rashes after taking pantoprazole?"

For Barrett's Esophagus "Do NOT take Pantoprazole! The absolute worst reaction to medicine ever! Within two hours of first taking it, I became blurred vision, foggy-minded, speech impaired, face dropped, limbs went numb, no feeling in my right arm, so weak I couldn’t stand, uncontrollable body twitching. Anxiety level was so extreme. I never dealt with anxiety like this. Was taken to the ER, given the tPA shot as my symptoms were similar to a TIA. Strokes run in my family. I’m 60 and was so scared I was going to be paralyzed. Was released the next day. Instructed to take it easy. A few days later while driving, dizziness hit me again with anxiety. I talked myself out of the anxiety. Pulled over, got out to take deep breaths to calm my thoughts. I encountered the same feelings while on vacation in San Diego. Stopped taking Pantoprazole 17 days after first starting it. (Yes, it helped my severe belching and acid reflux, but the side effects are NOT worth taking it!)"
