"In my experience Afrin or similar off brand nasal sprays smell like mildew after temperature changing in the bottle. Getting warm and cold, warm and cold, mostly from being in your pocket or in your vehicle. It’s essentially stagnant water that grows bacteria, hence the mildew smell."

"Afton works very well, however the last 3 or 4 bottles of the spray the I purchased over a year started smelling like mildew after a month or so. What is causing this? The expiration date on the container is 2 years away."
