"I have been on Trileptal for about 1 1/2 years. It has worked for the most part with keeping the seizures at bay. I have gone from having around 5 seizures a month when I was first diagnosed with epilepsy to around 2 a year. When I was first diagnosed, I was put on Dilantin, which did not work. I continued to have seizures, one of which resulted in me crashing my car through my garage door. The problems I have with Trileptal are that it has caused me to break out with acne, especially on my back and face. Also, it causes me to have a drunken sensation for about half an hour after I take it. I talked to the doctor about this, and she told me it was because I was eating either right before or after."

"My neurologist prescribes Trileptal for photophobia and phonophobia resulting from a massive hemorrhagic stroke. The symptoms are inordinate sensitivity and abnormal reactions to lights, action, sounds. I often experience visual and aural hallucinations. This medication seems to lessen, not completely abate the symptoms noted."

For Seizures "My daughter is 5 years old and has been healthy and has been developing at a normal rate. I heard a loud thud. I found my daughter on the floor. There was vomit on the bed, and my daughter was on the floor. It lasted 15 minutes. It was so scary. She was jerking very violently, and her eyes were rolling in the back of her head. It was horrible. No one should have to see their child like that. My doctor is saying she's had seizures. She had an MRI, an EEG, they did a spinal tap. After returning from the hospital, my daughter experienced vomiting. I could not bear to see my daughter going through this problem at the early age of her life. I read a lot of fake testimonies at blogs, Facebook, and websites of people that were cured from seizures."

"If there was a fire and I could only grab one of my assorted bipolar drugs, it would be Trileptal, even before Klonopin, and that’s saying a lot. Trileptal brought me out of the abyss. Love it."

For Trigeminal Neuralgia "It's great for trigeminal neuralgia pain. Aside from forgetting words and not being able to spell and weakness, the side effects are not too terrible. It is MUCH better than the TN pain."

"I have been blessed with MS, but I am also one of those unfortunate ones who have developed trigeminal neuralgia. My neurologist, at the time this first happened, started me on Tegretol. When it was discovered that it helped to prevent the face pain, I was switched to Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) because of the better risk-to-benefit ratio. I doubt I could function without Trileptal. The face pain of the middle branch of cranial nerve V is like having a wire brush that is plugged into an electrical outlet hammered into my face constantly and then set on fire with a blowtorch. Trileptal prevents this pain for the most part. Occasionally, I will have breakthrough pain and the dose is increased. The major side effect for me is ataxia, so I do not walk very well and sometimes take some real nasty falls, but the face pain wins so I deal with the side effects of Trileptal. I take a 300 mg tablet at bedtime and often 150 mg or 300 mg again during the day depending on breakthrough pain."
