For Seizures "I have taken the drug for about 6 years with positive results for seizures. The seizures have subsided to about 1-2 partial complex seizures per month. I do go through periods of depression, especially when the prescribed amount is changed. I'm currently taking 1200 mg in the AM and 1500 mg PM. It's probably the best seizure medication I've taken to date, and I've been on almost all of them at some point in my life over the past 30 years or so."

For Seizures "Due to possible heart failure about 15 years ago, I started having partial seizures, waking up in airplanes or hotels not knowing where I was for some time, and then gradually became alert until I started having many severe seizures. I started with Tegretol and then switched to Trileptal, which was very effective. I forgot to take it a few times and had seizures until I became very conscious of the need, and since then, I am quite well. I need to stay far from confrontations and conflicts. I currently take 1,500 mg daily (600 in the morning, 300 at dinner, 600 at sleep). My sodium level suffered a lot, but I am good on it now. The way to balance it is with coconut water, sports drinks, and adding a bit more to home cooking. It is a super medicine. I miss my red wine!"

For Trigeminal Neuralgia "I use it for trigeminal neuralgia and it is working great! I was first prescribed Tegretol, and it worked for about a year, but then the pain started to return. The doctor said the Tegretol was being metabolized at a faster rate, and she switched me to Trileptal. It worked in about eight hours! And, as others have noted, you do struggle for words and have a bit of short-term memory impairment, but the pain is gone! Also, so is your libido! Tegretol was like taking Viagra, it increased libido! But it's still a better life without the pain."

For Seizures "My son has been taking this medication for about 2 months now. Before he got on the medicine, he was really mean and talked back. I found that he was not happy, crying all the time for no reason at all. He would have a seizure about 10 times a day. It got to where it was really hard. I finally got him to see a great doctor. She put him on this medicine, and there hasn't been a seizure yet. He is playing, laughing, and having fun again. I really thank whoever came up with this medicine."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have been on Trileptal for nearly two months. I have tried many medications because I am drug-resistant. I take three tablets during the day. When I take a tablet, I can feel a very comfortable soothing in about 30-40 minutes. This lasts for a few hours, then I need to take another tablet. This is the best medicine yet. At least Trileptal provides quick relief."

For Epilepsy "I got diagnosed with epilepsy on 7/3/15 after having 9 absence seizures in a 3-hour period. I was put on Keppra 250 mg 2x/day, and over the years it’s increased to 1000 mg 2x/day. The seizures weren’t going away or becoming less frequent. In August 2019, I was put on Trileptal 300 mg 2x/day after finding out I was also having complex partial seizures, and this pill was my miracle. I haven’t had a seizure since!"

For Seizures "I'm a 33-year-old female and was diagnosed with seizures at 31. They came out of nowhere. Had an MRI and an EEG, no signs of anything, they were normal. With not being able to find what type of seizures they are, it's hard to find help from anywhere. I tried this medication, Trileptal, and it is a nightmare for me. I started with 2 tablets a day along with Keppra that I was already on. They may not work well together. But I've been on Trileptal for 1 month now, and since the seizures have picked up, which I didn't like at all. I called the doctor, who is supposed to be a seizure specialist, and she said to up the medication. And that's when I noticed they were coming more than they normally do, and I noticed upset stomach. No success with it at all!"

For Epilepsy "Taking Trileptal for 5 months. Female. 450 mg twice a day. No seizures, but memory is now horrendous, and I'm so dumb and numb. Also, the 5-7% chance of having a deformed baby is not worth it, but I'm stuck because all the seizure meds are horrid. Also, now experiencing constipation."

For Seizures "I was having seizures off and on for almost 4 yrs. Diagnosing this was difficult because I could never have a witness or could describe the symptoms. I was averaging 1 per month, then I got worse. I had 4 in two weeks, but all of them had witnesses. I called my doctor, and he ran heart tests and an MRI on my head. That's when he said I had partial epilepsy and gave me the Trileptal. I've been taking it for 6 weeks and haven't had any problems since then. I like this pill very much, and the best part is it's only $4 a month."

"This is the first drug that has EVER worked for me. I have been medicated since I was 11 and I am 32. I have trauma, I have cancer, and I am very disabled. This is to give you some insight on some of my struggles. Four days ago I started Trileptal. I am telling you that I went from hating everything to bliss. No explosive outbursts. I will leave another review when I have been taking it for longer, but try it. It doesn't interact with my Adderall, Wellbutrin, Gabapentin, OR Elavil. It is covered by my government benefits. It helps me sleep, but not too long! I can still wake up when I want to! I actually cried because it's a miracle. My only complaint is that it makes me a little foggy. I am already ADHD so the extra brain fog is a little annoying, BUT keep in mind that I DO have cancer, fibromyalgia, AND PTSD so I am already pretty foggy as is. But I still have SO much energy and that's important when you have cancer. I just love it. Please try it?"

For Seizures "I have been taking Trileptal for almost 1 month now, and it's such a lifesaver. I have been suffering from partial epilepsy for more than a year. I have been going to the hospital for almost 5/6 months, and they could not discover what the problem was, so I had to see a private doctor who diagnosed me with partial epilepsy and put me on Trileptal. As soon as I took these tablets, it reduced the attacks to 1 every two days, and after a month, it completely got rid of it, so I am really happy with these. However, I do feel slightly drowsy after taking them, but that does not matter since it's taken all the seizures away, which was my main concern since life just felt like hell prior to these. So I would definitely recommend it."

For Epilepsy "My son had a head injury when he was very small and started to have seizures. Scared me so much at the time. Was told it was febrile seizures at the time. Over the past 3 years, he started to have these 15-second tremors. We went to see a neurologist, and she prescribed Trileptal for him after having an MRI and EEG, which both came back normal. The medicine really does help with stopping the seizures. Because of the type of epilepsy he was diagnosed with, he probably won't stay on the meds. But for now, it's a big help. Seeing a child having seizures is so hard to watch."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have been on 1800 mg Trileptal for 3 years now for rapid cycling manic bipolar. I don't have the depression part like most do. I absolutely love Trileptal. For the 3 years before that, I had tried a handful from Lamictal, Topamax, and Wellbutrin. They all resulted in violent outbursts. For about 2 years, I took 1 mg Abilify along with it, it worked okay, but I would still get very annoyed with everything. So it then got paired up with Geodon, and it's worked wonders for me! It may have taken 5 years to get it just right, but when it's right, you will know!"

For Trigeminal Neuralgia "Compared to taking Tegretol for TN, I would give it a 10. Much less problem with taking and no Tegretol level or white blood cell counts needed, and I can take a lesser dose. Mostly get by with 2 a day, with the other medicine, it was a minimum of 3, but mostly 4 a day. I do feel much better physically with the smaller dose, of course. Kinda looped for a week switching medicines as you take both to wean off Tegretol and onto Trileptal. I definitely would try it."

For Bipolar Disorder "After reactions to Lamictal and Topamax, Trileptal didn't space me out and levels my mood. I take it with nothing else for mild bipolar episodes. No weight gain, and my hair loss is not as drastic, if at all. Lamictal and Topamax made it fall out."

For Bipolar Disorder "If not for this medicine, I would have failed college due to the bipolar disorder. Although I got some side effects at first, and whenever my dose is upped, they last for a day or two. My moods are way more even, and combined with Klonopin, I can finally sleep!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I'm going into my second month using Trileptal and started at 600 mg a day. My Dr. just upped it to 900 mg because it wasn't stabilizing my moods as much as I would like. I also take Klonopin for anxiety and the Trileptal for my bipolar. So far, no side effects like the Topamax with tingling, but I'm hoping it starts working better. My Dr. wants to throw in an antidepressant along with something for ADHD but wants to wait till this kicks in."

For Anxiety "Completely messed up my stomach - constipated, nauseated, vomiting, rectal bleeding. Agitation, sleep problems, and muscle discomfort (restless leg syndrome) upon discontinuation of medication. I also believe the increased agitation and abdominal discomfort led to an increase in my blood pressure."

For Seizures "My 13-year-old son developed unexplained symptoms, which started as hypersalivation 2 years ago that progressed to frequent daily choking and vomiting. We saw all the specialists, and I work in oral surgery. His symptoms got worse and worse, and he was being described as a 'medical mystery.' A few months ago, we went on a ski trip, and he was suffering from severe altitude sickness and dehydration. On our last day, he had his first seizure. We chalked it up as a fluke. A month later, he woke us up to another seizure. He immediately started on Trileptal, working up to 300 mg 2x a day. And within a few weeks, his symptoms dramatically improved. He still has mild hypersalivation. So we upped his dose to 450 mg 2x a day, and his symptoms have completely subsided. A lifesaver for a middle schooler, not just quality of life, but we were fearing he could choke to death."

For Seizures "Been taking Trileptal for about a year. Mostly because every 5 to 6 years, have to change my medicine because I tend to get immune to them. Have taken Sodium Valproate, Tegretol, and Carbamazepine over the last 30 years. With Oxcarb, seizures are controlled but not totally gone. Also, am putting on an extraordinary amount of weight, looking for other options for what is becoming an obesity problem."

For Epilepsy "Was diagnosed with nocturnal focal onset epilepsy on June 22, 2020, and this medicine has been a lifesaver ever since. The only downside is that I'm having to take 2400 mg every single night all at once to control my seizures. I am a heavyset person at 360 lbs, so I guess that is normal. But it works, and I'm able to sleep peacefully. They recently changed the design of my pills. It used to be like a peach-colored oblong tablet, but today when I got a refill, it was brown pills that were smaller with an easy-to-swallow coating, which I am so happy about. And it kicked in in only 20 minutes, whereas the old ones took about 45 minutes to an hour and a half to kick in."

For Trigeminal Neuralgia "I developed TGN in 1997. This is not the typical TGN since it was caused by a stress ulcer about 3/4' from the left side of my mouth over the junction of three facial nerves. About a year after the ulcer healed, the facial pain abruptly developed big time. I was first prescribed Tegretol, but it made me feel like a dope. Trileptal was then prescribed, and I have cut it down to only 75 mg at night. I occasionally take 150 mg Trileptal 1 X when my facial pain really tunes up. I also rub in a little dab of Metrocream topically over that painful area that numbs my face just enough to minimize any pain."

"One thing I can say about this particular medication is that it stopped my overthinking. It also stopped my impulse to do something and that I'm not so quick to do something I'd regret later. I'm also calmer, and that in itself is amazing. I'm not walking around like a zombie, but I am a bit airheaded at times, but that feeling should subside the longer I'm on it. I give this med a 9 out of 10. Good luck and best wishes."

For Bipolar Disorder "I took Trileptal over 2 years ago and had horrible side effects. Started at 1500 mg with no change in mood and with no side effects. Raised it to 2400 mg (max dosage) and was in a constant drunk/high haze all day. Twenty minutes after taking it, I couldn't walk in a straight line. My parents would spend an hour some mornings trying to get me to wake up. My managers wouldn't let me work because it was too noticeable I was 'high'. Trileptal seems to help a lot of people, so this isn't to discourage people from taking it."
