Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Dry Eye Disease "Horrible, horrible product. After a week of use, my eyes became extremely irritated, itchy, puffy, and just all around uncomfortable. Eyes would feel good for 1-2 hours after use, but then feel horrible, more dry, and worse than before. Definitely some sort of rebound effect."

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Dry Eye Disease "Two weeks after eye surgery (cataract), I went in to see my eye doctor. My vision was great. He said my eye looked wonderful and was now completely healed. I was delighted! Then he gave me these Refresh Optive Mega-3 eye drops to use. I told him I finished the other eye drops and didn't want any more due to the filmy cloudiness they caused, but he insisted I use them. So I went home and put one drop into my eye, and oh, was that a HUGE MISTAKE. My eye turned red, swelled up, and it felt like someone had punched me in the eye. Watering, burning, and PAIN! I returned to his office, and he told me to go home and hold an ice bag on my eye for 15 minutes at a time. It's been six hours, and still no relief. BEWARE OF THIS PRODUCT!"

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Eye Redness "Have been using SYSTANE on and off for a few weeks and have experienced severe redness, swelling, and itching around my eyes. Couldn't figure out at first what was causing it, so narrowed it down to this product and made note when I used it. Sure enough, SYSTANE seemed to be the cause. While using this eye gel and naturally blinking after it is placed in my eyes, some gel gets onto the surrounding skin around the eyes, and it has caused the redness, itching, and swelling. So, be aware of this side effect."

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Eye Redness "I have used Systane for about 9 weeks and have been experiencing severe swelling and irritation of my eyelids, including splitting of the skin and drying out of the sore areas. Have narrowed down the cause as Systane, and not blepharitis."

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic "Doctor said my eyes were dry and scratched. Said to use Systane. Now my eyes are dry, scratched, puffy, and red. Eyes worse now than before Systane. Will never, ever use this product again. Into the garbage go these overpriced eye drops. They said other drops were all marketing - guess what, my eyes didn't get puffy and red."

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Dry Eye Disease "I only used Systane for 3 days for mild blepharitis. It caused blurriness and extremely pronounced puffiness under the eyes (with a red vein very pronounced). It also caused a migraine. Over-the-counter allergy pills seem to have a better effect on relieving most of the symptoms. Will not use it again."

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Dry Eye Disease "What a miserable experience! Something that is this expensive and preservative-free shouldn't cause such discomfort. It has been a nightmare. My eyes got swollen, irritated, and the entire eye socket area became/is bright red. I still haven't recovered from it. It looks like I got punched in the eyes. I've tried many brands and drops before and NEVER had an experience like this. I'm taking them back and will never, ever buy this brand again."

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Dry Eye Disease "I have used this product with no problem, then I got pneumonia and wow, my eyes went ballistic. Red, inflamed, puffy, itchy, and I went to the doctor. He showed me a picture of eyes with problems like mine, and the cause was Systane. I was so shocked. It is really terrible."

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Dry Eye Disease "Crazy. My eye doctor pushed these eye drops so hard, and using these eye drops made my eyes dryer and dryer. It took 2.5 years to discover that I should use preservative-free eye drops instead—because lo and behold, I was allergic to the regular drops! The regular drops caused more inflammation, which interfered with my normal tear production. Thousands of dollars later, a lot of pain and suffering, two ulcers on my left eye, and it was the office receptionist that suggested I try preservative-free eye drops! And, within a couple of weeks, my devastating dry eye symptoms were gone."

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Dry Eye Disease "Went to optometrists/opthamologist for eye exam. Said I had dry eyes. Gave me sample bottles, said to use 4 or 5 times a day for the first two weeks, then no less than 3 times a day. My eyes are swollen, vision blurry, I wake up with goo and gook in my eyes, it is awful. I stopped today. I hope it clears up soon, I drive for a living."

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Dry Eye Disease "I have allergies, and my eyes get itchy, so I thought I would try Systane to soothe my irritated eyes. When I put a drop in each eye, my eyes became blurred over, and I could not see! As it dissipated some, I could not longer read the information on the box! It damaged my eyes! I flushed my eyes out three times with water, and it still didn’t help! They felt itchy and sticky. That evening, my right eye had a lump that appeared on my lower lid, which is still there! And my eyesight from the eye drops on Friday is still not back to normal! How can a company produce a product that is not safe to use? I am going to call my attorney!"

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Dry Eye Disease "Almost from the beginning, my eyes felt better for a few days, but on the third day, I noticed my eyes stayed swollen, red, began to have headaches, crust around my eyes, and now I can’t see as well, so I have to have stronger eyeglasses. Also, I noticed the outer rim around my iris continues to thicken. These drops are horrible, and I do not recommend them to anyone, and they should be taken off the market."

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic "Bought this because the eye Dr. recommended it, and since I started using it, my eye is worse than ever... watering nonstop, puffy, redness, and blurry vision. Today is so bad I can't even see clearly to drive! I work in the medical field, and I will be telling everyone I can!!!"

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Dry Eye Disease "I'm 79 years old, and my eye doctor told me my eyes are very dry and to use Refresh Liquigel for relief. After using it in each eye about three times, I wake up with swollen eyelids and a rash around the outside of each eye. My skin seems to reject a few drops that tear out of the eye after dropping into the eye. I had to stop using it and wait it out with ice compression and allergy medication. I am very allergic to whatever is in this eye medication. Thank God that my eyesight and eyeball were not affected, only the eyelids and under-eye."

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Dry Eye Disease "I have used Oasis drops for only 1 week, and my eyelids are swollen and painful, as if I have a stye on my upper lid. I've stopped using them and hope this painful situation resolves quickly and that I don't need to see a physician. This product should be pulled off the market."

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Dry Eye Disease "I had used Lacriserts for over 15 years with very good results. In the middle of 2020, my pharmacy stated they were on back order. They were again available the last quarter of 2020. I started having problems using Lacriserts. Instead of slowly dissolving in my eyes, they started to dissolve into a gluey clump of sticky substance on my eye that was difficult to remove. My vision was becoming increasingly worse, with constant blurred vision in my right eye. I made an appointment with my optometrist, and after several tests, was prescribed Prednisolone acetate for inflammation for 3 weeks; with a follow-up at that time. We agreed to stop the Lacriserts for now. However, I doubt if I will ever use Lacrisert again. After the Lacriserts became available the last quarter of 2020, the product was different, as if the chemical formulation had changed or something."

For Dry Eye Disease "I was given samples of Blink Tears for my dry eyes and was already having a slight eczema breakout, which I made very clear to the doctor. Since using these drops, I found for the first hour or so my eyes feel a little better but now have a full-blown rash all around my eyes. They itch and burn and are very red and inflamed. I cannot believe how bad this has gotten to the point I can’t go outside. Will not use this product any longer."

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Dry Eye Disease "I too used GenTeal and liked it when I first started using it. That is, until I woke up with what appeared to be an allergic reaction, with the bottom of my eye swelling and itching. I actually took a picture of the eye in case I needed to show my ophthalmologist. I compared the ingredients (and the amounts of each) to other night ointments I have used with no reaction and believe that is the problem."

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Dry Eye Disease "After brief use for occasional dry eyes, I had extremely bad side effects. Tissue around my eyes red, swollen, itchy, burns. No relief since August. Working with doctors. It’s the preservative in this product. Shame on FDA approval for a bad preservative."

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Eye Redness "I was sold this medicine as a natural remedy. All it does is make my eye worse and irritate the one eye I have used it for. It became inflamed and even redder. No wonder really as it contains a cocktail of acids, including hydrochloric. No more natural than anything you'd find in a lab. I think I'll use distilled water."

Ocular lubricant ophthalmic for Dry Eye Disease "My eye doctor gave me Systane drops to use for dry eye. About two weeks later, my vision became very blurry, and when I looked at anything digital, it was double and triple vision. After a complete eye exam, it was determined my retina and optic nerve were fine. The only thing he could come up with was at a microscopic level, the cells of the cornea might be having some inflammation. In the meantime, I switched to Refresh Tears. About three months later, my blurriness was getting somewhat better. I went out of town and forgot my eye drops. My friend had her Systane drops with her, (I still hadn't connected the dots yet), so I used them. The following week, my blurry vision was back just as bad as it originally had been! There is no doubt that it is caused by the Systane product."
