For Smoking Cessation "Whoever developed this nasal spray has got to be a masochist. Burns like fire and causes instant excessive nose run. Burns through the sinuses for quite a long time post-initial spray. However, does quench my want for a cigarette as I am too busy blowing my nose and screaming from the pain it causes if you forget and sniff at the same time you're delivering a spray to the nares."

For Smoking Cessation "The Nicoderm CQ patch, in my opinion, worked great. I've been smoking for over 19 years. I've tried before (cold turkey) & (pregnancy), but always went back. I smoked up to 1.5 packs a day. I made the most life-changing choice in Dec 2016 to stop smoking. I researched the patches and was very leery because of my withdrawal symptoms. I decided to try Nicoderm CQ patches. I completed the whole 3-step, 10-week program without 1 slip!!! I'm very proud of myself. Now, be aware that you will experience a slight burning, itching sensation when you first apply the patch (lasts about 1 min). Also, sometimes the patch will not stay on, just simply apply a Band-Aid over it. That's about it. I would recommend this product. Works GREAT!!"

For Smoking Cessation "Dr. told me I have to quit smoking (pneumonia-related recurring illnesses), didn't get a choice. She recommended gum because the patch just wasn't enough for me, angry cravings, and I knew I was going to smoke again. So I used patches and gum for breakthrough nicotine urge. For me, even with the 'chew then park' method, I still have a burning sensation in the back of my throat very similar to the burn you get off a pull from a cig, not pleasant but also familiar. Pluses: immediate relief with hit of nicotine, flavor is nice, relieves the angry withdrawals, I do feel better after I chew. Cons: obviously not recommended for long-term use, the peppery/burning is slightly uncomfortable - I call it zappygum because it reminds me of electricity, especially with the speedy nicotine - and frequent use upsets my stomach. As for the patches, the adhesive wears off easily so it tends to fall off towards the last few hours, also, I have really strange vivid dreams wearing the patch when I'm sleeping. Using both together and so far, 0 cigs since the Dr."

For Smoking Cessation "So today is my first day of stopping smoking. Previously, I have tried to stop using the patches but later learned that I was allergic to them, resulting in a rash. Anyway, today I’m using the gum, and after only trying one of them, I would much rather go cold turkey than to have them every day! After a minute of having it, I started to get a burning sensation at the back of my throat, which is a common side effect, but one I would rather not have. Then I started to feel faint and dizzy, so I chucked it in the bin, I couldn’t take it anymore! It’s currently been more than five hours since I’ve taken that single bit of gum, and I’m now getting really bad stomach pains, nausea, dizziness, and fatigue. Not only that, what’s the point of taking the gum, which has addictive nicotine in it, to try and stop smoking? It doesn’t make sense. I actually didn’t know that when I bought it, silly me, but in my opinion, I would much rather go cold turkey than to put my body through all that pain to stop smoking!"

For Smoking Cessation "Commit really works if you want to stop smoking. The cons are: stinging or burning at first, which goes away; heartburn definitely if you use them frequently; gas. The major con is Commit really is addictive itself! Considering that we are dealing with an addict in the first place... we will use Commit constantly. I have a lozenge in my mouth constantly... even while sleeping! There has to be a better way. Trying to go down to the 2 mg lozenge and use according to the directions. Certainly don't think of cigarettes. Hate them now. Have been on Commit since 2003. Have bad heartburn and ulcers. Concerned about the effect on my red blood cells."

For Smoking Cessation "I have tried vaping and the patch previously. I did research on what method I would like. I knew I wanted control of delivery of the product, and I thought I wanted something that resembled smoking as close to possible to begin. The doctor wrote the prescription wrong and put the nasal spray instead of the inhaler. At this point, I am so happy she messed up. The awesome parts of the spray compared to any NRT that you put in your mouth is no wait time to eat or drink. This is also the lowest dose of nicotine delivery for any NRT. I was not a heavy smoker, but I was a long-time user. I like that it is a low enough dose that I can pretty much spray anytime I need it. But I have discovered to get rid of the burning in my nasal cavity, be consistent. Make a schedule and keep to it. The one complaint I have is that it seems like the amount of sprays is 180ish, not 200. Quality control isn't great. I am an ex-smoker after 40+ years."

For Smoking Cessation "I have smoked between one pack and two packs a day for 54 years. Even the stroke nine years ago wouldn't get me to stop smoking. One of my songs had the formative line of 'And a cigarette is my best friend.' After the stroke, I had to take SSDI early and could not reach my full retirement age. Therefore, my fixed income is quite low and I qualify for Section 8 housing, which requires no smoking anywhere on campus at any time. One offense and you're out. When I got contacted by my preferred complex, I knew I had to quit or go homeless. Well, it's about time anyway… After trying a few other flavors of the Nicorette, none of them were even decent except the cinnamon, which is EXCELLENT! Not only that, it is an extraordinarily good gum. My chewing gum doesn't lose its flavor on the bedpost overnight. After 10 days, I have cut my smoking in half with very little effort. Zero is coming soon… My only complaint is consistency-some tingle, some burn, and some do nothing at all."
For Smoking Cessation "After being smoke-free for almost 16 years, I started to smoke again. Six years went by, and I was miserable most of the time being a smoker again. I have been using the patch for four days now, and it is working. I am really amazed, no cravings or major urges. If I get the urge, it just lasts for a couple of minutes, then I am good again. I smoked about 14 cigs a day and decided to start with Step 2. I will probably do Step 2 for about 4 weeks, then go to Step 3. I do not sleep with the patch, but take it off right before I am ready to go to sleep, then just reapply in the am. It takes about 10 minutes to start working. It feels a little funny at first, like burning or itching, then that goes away. Other than that, I have had no other side effects."
