"My 2-year-old daughter recently had a G-tube put in, which became infected. After 4 days of antibiotics and Neosporin, as prescribed by the Dr., the infection seemed to become worse. She was then prescribed mupirocin and a different antibiotic, and literally the very next day, the infected site seemed to be about 75% better! Impressed and happy, especially for my baby girl."

For Skin and Structure Infection "MD prescribed mupirocin cream for what he thought was impetigo, but the swab was negative. Turned out to be rosacea. Cream did not help and actually caused nausea, diarrhea, and dizziness. After I stopped using the cream, my symptoms disappeared. I'm hypersensitive to antibiotics, and this one is now on the list."

For Nasal Carriage of Staphylococcus aureus "I guess it worked. Mupirocin nasal twice daily for 10 days for MRSA for prep for surgery. Is there any other side effects? Or did MRSA spread using this? May cause increased anxiety and agitation. Increased fatigue and insomnia. Diarrhea. Itchy eyes. Difficulty concentrating."

For Secondary Cutaneous Bacterial Infections "Rx for small area of cellulitis on leg (with Amoxicillin Clav) - Mupirocin caused a worsening, spreading rash around the original infection site and spread to cover half my lower leg, and after 5 days, as it got worse, I stopped using it. Was then given Desonide (with Doxycycline) and in 7 days very much improved. Have never had cellulitis or rash before."

For Secondary Cutaneous Bacterial Infections "I've used this on my 2-year-old's rash and saw noticeable results within 1 day. He would pick his face in his sleep, and I couldn't clear it with anything until the doctor prescribed this. I keep it in my diaper bag all the time now. It also works amazingly for diaper rash and any small cut, scrape, or infection. No side effects on my son, daughter, or myself."

For Skin and Structure Infection "I had lost a layer of skin under my wrist the size of a half dollar, and I used mupirocin ointment and covered it with a Band-Aid for two days. The third day, I had lost the soreness, and the skin was coming back, and I only used a little for two more days without a Band-Aid, and all was good. No side effects."

For Impetigo "I seem to get this impetigo every year, and it really sucks! So, what I found helped me is spraying alcohol on it whenever it itches. Sure, it hurts like anything, but at least it wasn't as bad as when I put mupirocin on it. Within 5 minutes, I was at the gross stage of a weeping honey-crusted mess. I mean, this erupted on the right side of my mouth. So basically, I washed that stuff off and sprayed alcohol on it, and it's better. Hopefully, your experience will be better. I am also on doxycycline, which has helped in the past. Warning: if you feel a little tingling on your face, act quick-spray alcohol, get antibiotics, and pray it won't last as long as mine did before-too many months."

For Skin and Structure Infection "It seems the mupirocin cream is helping with the skin involved with my cellulitis. I cannot not use ointments, and the cream wasn't covered by insurance. I'd like to know why insurance is not covering the cost. I used a discount card and got the price lowered."

For Nasal Carriage of Staphylococcus aureus "The side effects began the first day I took mupirocin. I had a terrible stomach ache, chest pains, and flu-like symptoms for the entire duration of taking the antibiotic. If possible, ask your doctor to give you a different medication."

For Impetigo "That only made it worse - kept it wet, which made it ooze. Dreadful! The only thing that worked for me is spraying alcohol directly on it! Every time I felt a little itchy, I still spray alcohol - it burns like fire! But it dried it out and made it go away with doxycycline along with the alcohol spray! I would and had gotten it off and on often. And it was bad right below my nose or on my chin! I would just sit at the computer searching for different ways to make it go away."

For Skin and Structure Infection "It worked but... I hope I never have to use this medicine again. I was prescribed mupirocin by my doctor for a bad rash on my face. Was told to apply twice a day for 10 days. Right away my rash started improving without any side effects. All seemed good but on about day 9 or 10 I broke out in hives on my neck and chest and experienced intense itching. Itching similar to poison ivy. It was miserable and kept me up at night. I had to resort to steroid cream that I was desperately trying to avoid. The rash on my face did completely heal and I of course stopped using the mupirocin. I'm on day 4 of dealing with the itch in my chest and it has gotten a little better so I am hopeful it will subside soon. This cream will work but be aware of the side effects."

Mupirocin topical for Nasal Carriage of Staphylococcus aureus "I'm suffering from severe tendonitis/arthralgia or bursitis that is excruciating, to the point of absolute tears, when I awaken. It takes all I have to endure the sharp, searing pains that race through my shoulders, elbows, back (lower and upper), and I am still recovering from back surgery/instrumentation, my legs and feet, my hips. I can honestly say I am experiencing pain on level '12' on a 0-10 scale. I would not wish this on my worst enemy. It takes me a half hour to get out of bed. By about two hours, my pain medicines from my back pain (intractable) take effect and I am able to hobble. Throughout the day, I gain a little more mobility. I watch the symptoms move about my body; not diminishing, only moving. At night, it starts again."

For Skin and Structure Infection "The actual cost of prescription Bactroban Mupirocin 2% cream was $291.69 for 15 grams. My drug plan only required my payment of $3.60. But $288.07 is being 'paid' for by all of you (us), in high insurance and health care costs. This Rx has been on the market for a long time. I should have asked about the actual cost before having the prescription filled, as I would not have had it filled, even at no cost to me. And, because prescriptions are electronically filed, I never saw that 15 grams-far too much had been ordered. I am filing complaints with every government entity and the manufacturer. I won't let this happen again. As to the length of time using mupirocin calcium cream 2%, it has been used very sporadically for the last 8 years, and in tiny amounts. I have had no side effects. But I might have seen results with other cheap, OTC antibacterial/antibiotic ointments. I will rate the cream at 10 because it provided relief and possibly healing."
