Megestrol "I have been taking Megace, in conjunction with Xeloda, for the past year to help treat my Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. Since my tumor is estrogen feeding, this medication takes the estrogen out of my system. Tumors have considerably shrunk since I've been on this medication."

"320 mg total of Megace daily taken in 4 doses. No side effects after the first few days. Want to avoid major surgery - hysterectomy. My tip is to eat before you take it so you are not hungry. Eat clean food - mostly alkaline plant-based. No sugar or caffeine. I feel great! Saying a prayer that each of you (and me!) can avoid major surgery and keep our female organs!"

Megestrol "I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer (very early stage) at age 40. As an alternative to hysterectomy, I tried hormone therapy: 160 mg Megace every day. Endometrial thickness dropped from approximately 2 cm to a few mm in 6 months. No change in appetite. Skin oil production in the face dropped, which was great as I normally have oily skin. I had small uterine fibroids before Megace, which started to grow big and fast, which was the worst side effect."

"Gained over 25 lbs. On it for uterine cancer. It helped stop horrible bleeding before my surgery and also gave me back my appetite. Since then, weight loss had been very stubborn, and I became 'thick' all over, the kind of fat you see on Santa's belly. My mood swings were bad, I was constantly irritated and lost my filter when it came to reacting. I was constantly tired as well, but that could have been cancer-related fatigue. It's been 8 months now since taking megestrol, and I have lost maybe 10 lbs."

"I had an oophorectomy due to a tumor on one ovary and had lost so much weight and could not eat or function properly. I had increased anxiety, insomnia, and no appetite. Megace helps me sleep, and I eat normally while I'm on it. It has helped me gain almost 15 pounds in three months of being on it, with regular sleep and no cysts/tumors! Truly saved me!"

"I was on Megace for uterine cancer. I was diagnosed early with stage one uterine cancer when I was 34. I hadn’t had children yet and was hoping to conceive still. My doctor said we could try this medication before doing a hysterectomy since my cancer was a low grade. I was also in the middle of a weight loss journey so the side effect of weight gain freaked me out. I was on Megestrol for 6 months and beat uterine cancer with this drug. Additionally, with a strong mental attitude, I was able to work out and lose weight on this medication and did not let myself overeat. I’m almost 36 now and currently pregnant with a baby girl. I was desperate for stories like mine, but couldn’t find any when I went through all of this. If you’re in a situation like me, don’t give up hope. You’ve got this!!"
