Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "Just wanted to share my experience with Provera. I was prescribed 20mg for 30 days. I had heavy bleeding with huge clots on 4th day of taking Provera. I was bleeding for two weeks while on Provera and then it stopped. Just give this medication the time, it works."

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I wish I could give this a ZERO star. They warned me that I could have some abnormal bleeding, but nobody warned me that I'd be bleeding enough to support the Red Cross. My blood count is low, which it never has been before. Not to mention the acne, the attitude, the sore breasts, and the emotional instability to go along with it. The REAL reason this works as birth control is because nobody on this medication is doing anything even remotely related to sex (oh yeah, I forgot to mention - no sex drive). Even if you had a sex drive, it's a bloody war zone! Nope! Hopefully, someone, anyone really, will read this and think, 'nope, I'll go a different route,' and I will have saved someone some MAJOR heartache and struggles."

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I'm approaching the third calendar shot for me, and now that I have begun to bleed unexpectedly, I've taken the time to evaluate myself. Since beginning the Depo-Provera in February, I've noticed a series of uncontrollable headaches, as well as a spike in my blood pressure. I was administered a better dosage of hydrochlorothiazide to reduce the effects of this blood pressure spike, but immediately preceding my dosage, I started experiencing this unexpected bleeding. Taken aback by such abrupt change, this makes me reflect on the changes my body has experienced throughout the short course of being administered Depo. I had even begun to experience anxiety here and there, not to mention fatigue. Later came the abdominal cramps and pains, with vaginal adverse side effects."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I am 46 and live on the UK, i've just been put on this Provera medication today. I have had numerous blood tests and have have been told that I am on my way to menopause, kick started after having my left ovary removed due to a cyst in 2015. I have been lucky in the sense that periods weren't too bad for me growing up, but over the last couple of years they have been very irregular. Lately though, I have had quite heavy flooding and are awaiting an appointment to have an hysteroscopy. My last period finished Christmas eve and since then I have had spotting every day, sometimes a lot. Hot flushes, headaches and irratic sleeping patterns. I am taking prescribed iron tablets and vitamin D as I feel exhausted. So, today the doctor put me on Provera, 2 tablets a day. I am hoping that they will help."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "My cycle has been on for over 3 months, so I went to the doctor. She prescribed Provera. The first day after starting the medication, I cramped (I'm not a cramper). The cramps stopped, but the bleeding never did. About two weeks on the pill, I started bleeding really heavily and passing too many clots, then I came to research. I wouldn't recommend this drug to anyone."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "Been on this medication for nearly a week now. I am bleeding terribly, really bad cramping. I am 42 now, and I have had irregular periods for 3 years, but now it's a nightmare. It just feels like you are the only person going through this, it drags you down. Ladies, any idea how long these pills take to kick in to bring the bleeding to an end?"

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I started my first Depo-provera shot at the beginning of January and have been bleeding lots of bright red blood for about 2 weeks now. After reading everyone’s reviews about the nightmare not ending even after stopping the injection, I’m really regretting this decision. I’ve had the worst cramps ever and I’m bloated and feel exhausted everyday. Having a full period for 2 weeks is ridiculous and the fact this can last for months is stressing me out. I was very optimistic about trying out another form of birth control since I had issues with the combination pill. My doctor said I would experience just some light spotting until my body adjusted which isn’t accurate. Please avoid this injection at all costs! It isn’t worth the possibility of being stuck with these horrible side effects for months until it’s out of your system and maybe even beyond that! This was the worst mistake ever and not worth it."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I went to the OB because I had been bleeding for 6 months straight. Ultrasound showed nothing, no fibroids, nada. So they gave me Provera, and I have been on it for 5 days, and not a thing has happened. I feel like I am on Groundhog Day. I want this nightmare to stop, I just can't take this. I have no life, and I have lost so much weight, it is not funny, no matter how much I eat."

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I was on Depo for a year, and had my last shot om 7th March 19, when I was on depo I would have the occasional bleed but overall it suited me. However since I have stopped taking it OMGoodness....so I kept a diary. Injection wears off roughly 12/13 weeks after last injection so 1st week in June. 4 day bleed in July, 3 day bleed in August, 9 day bleed in September, 15 day bleed in October, 5 day bleed in November and get this...... last period started 30th November and today is the 12th January 2020 and I am STILL bleeding!!! Sick of my life!! I am off to the doctors tomorrow as I cannot handle this anymore 44 days of solid period (no let up) and I am done. If anyone had told me this might of happened then I would have for sure never ever take this injection."

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I started the Depo-Provera injection in Jan 2020 after I had my son in Dec 2019, all was well. I would have a period on the first month, it was long and heavy and then no period or spotting for 2 months. I was quite happy, then my OB had to go for a surgery in July, I was not due till August for the shot, so he said it would be fine to get the shot half a month early. O M G! Wish I didn’t listen to him. My periods have been longer that 15 days, then spotting in between and now a period again! It hasn’t been super heavy but it sure is annoying as anything! I’m due for a shot on Oct 7 2020 and I’m not going on it again! I’m diabetic and already exhausted from that, now this."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "Provera has been a wonder drug for me. I have been taking it for about 4 years now. I have no more periods. They were so bad after I had my son 15 years ago. I couldn't function. This drug has been great for me. I will continue to take it as long as I can."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I have abnormal Uterine bleeding and after bleeding for 2 months straight I was given provera 2x before It actually worked. On top of it all it took almost 5 days to fully stop my bleeding. Thank god I stopped bleeding, but I still have cramps. It’s been exactly 17 days that I have not bleed. But now I’m wondering my pills are almost done. What going to happen to me? Am I going to start bleeding heavy again? Is it going to never stop again? I’m so afraid of what will happen when I’m done with provera. Ugh!!!"

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "My experience with Provera has been a very painful situation. I am 26 and was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome at the age of 22. I never had regular periods since the age of 15. I was always on some form of birth control to regulate. I was taking the Depo-Provera shot (depo shot) for about 6 months before I decided to get off due to the excessive weight gain. The Nurse Practitioner weaned me off of the shot and decided to give me the Micronor birth control pills, which did not help as well. I have been on my cycle for 2.5 months. I cannot afford insurance, the only thing I could do was go to the emergency room. I saw the ER doctor there, where she gave me the Provera 10 mg four times a day. My bleeding has gotten heavier."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I always had regular periods and never took contraceptives & have no kids. I took Spironolactone for severe acne at age 49 and I had non-stop bleeding/spotting for nearly 2 months afterwards. The bleeding got worse and terrible cramps started. I have anemia and also a large fibroid. Ended up in the emergency room. Provera 10mg 3 times a day & Tranexamic acid 500mg 3 times 2 tablets were prescribed. I did not take Provera at first because I was worried, it's another hormone pill. A day later, I noticed Tranexamic only works for 8 hours and if the next dose comes late, I bled heavily again. So, I started taking Provera. Miraculously, within 3.5 days, the bleeding stopped. Side effects were reasonable: cramps, headache. I read all reviews before taking Provera and saw a 35% chance. I am glad I took the pill because it worked for me. I found a common negative review. All women stated they never had regular periods and they were on and off contraceptive pills before the irregular bleeding. I feel for all women who go through this, it is awful!"

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I am 31 years old. Since the birth of my first child, I've had very heavy, painful periods. Often irregular, as in a couple of times a month. But I have been bleeding for almost 5 months now. Three months ago, I was put on Provera 10 mg once a day. It lightened my bleeding after a few days, then I had brown discharge for a few days. But I started bleeding again even while taking the Provera. I first had a 10-day supply, then a 30-day supply, another 2 weeks, and now 2 more. But it has changed nothing. I'm bleeding and cramping nonstop and still have no answers. No fibroids, polyps, or cysts."

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I've been on the Depo for over two years now. For the first 9 months, I experienced light bleeding/spotting, but the doctors told me to continue as it won't be long until my body got used to it. After my third shot, the bleeding just stopped completely. It is best to carry on with it because I haven't had a period in over a year, just occasional spotting every couple of months, if that. Weight gain was a problem for me, but I'm not overweight, and I can lose it if I stick to a healthy diet. Other than that, I've had no problem with the Depo, it's really not as bad as people are making it out to be. Once you get past the months of bleeding, you don't have to worry about a thing. :)"

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I took one depo provera shot in October 2019 and started a period 2 weeks later. Basically that period hasn't stopped till today February 4th 2020. I have tried other hormonal treatments to stop it and all that would happen is that it would stop and start again. Very heavy bleeding with huge clots. It's all very alarming and annoying. All this even though I didn't take the second shot in January. DO NOT TAKE IT!"

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "Age 50. Provera was the worst for me. Heavy non stop bleeding for a month. Took megace. Per doc waited a week. Now on provera. Provera caused the following . Anxiety. My blood pressure went up. Cramping. Huge bloating. Ovarian cyst rupture. Into my second round of 10mg for 10 days. Hate it. I am going back to ask for birth control pills. Anything to right my cycle that doesn't make me crazy."

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I have been using the Depo for 2 1/2 years now. I noticed during the first year I would spot lightly when I usually got my period, and my cramps went away. After the first year, my period pretty much went away for the most part. However, when I do occasionally get spotting, it lasts for about 2 weeks, and it comes at random times. In the past year, I can recall it happening three times. For me, it still beats getting regular periods, and it has taken away my horrible cramps, so I deal with it. The pill always made me sick no matter what brand I tried, so that is another plus with the Depo. But everyone is different, and everyone will react differently."

Provera (medroxyprogesterone) "I went almost 3 months without a period. I should've known I was in for trouble, but I just let it slide until the day I started my period. I bled for 5 weeks non-stop. It was very heavy with lots of large clots. I went to the ER eventually, and the doctor prescribed me Provera 10 mg for 10 days. It was awesome for 10 days-almost no bleeding, just spotting here and there. I came off of Provera, and 2 days later, I'm bleeding 10 times worse and a lot more clots than I was before taking the drug. Something's got to give, I just want to be able to be normal again!"

Had a vaginal ultrasound and found no signs of cancer. Yesterday I started again, today I started taking provera. I am hoping it stops the bleeding. Heavy bleeding, cramps (front and lower back) and clots."
