"Caplyta is one of many antipsychotics I have tried, but it's the only one that makes me feel like a normal person. I have been taking Caplyta for about 1.5 years, and it has been wonderful. I really don't remember any major side effects when I first started taking it, but I'm absolutely miserable if I miss a dose. I feel on edge/unstable, and I am literally unable to sleep. I'm currently feeling those effects because my pharmacy screwed up, and I had to go without it until they received the medication to fill my prescription. But I love Caplyta! If your insurance won't cover it, the manufacturer has a discount card!"

"(Prescribed for bipolar II) This was the worst experience I’ve ever had with any prescription ever, and I only took one pill. In common with other antipsychotics I’ve taken in the past, it made me so lethargic I practically felt drunk. But what was so concerning I actually called the doctors after hours was that I felt unbelievably chilled to the bone (and I’m usually always hot). I was in bed freezing despite wearing four blankets, warm fuzzy socks, slippers, pants, two sweatshirts, and a beanie. Before the “drunk” feeling kicked in, I had to drive my son to work up the street, and I was blasting my heat in the car at 86 degrees! My skin began to burn badly. I can’t explain better than it being like on the verge of frostbite but was warm to the touch on the outside. My feet were and still are the worst. It’s been 8 hours since I took the meds, and I’m not too cold anymore, but my feet have felt like they’re on fire so bad I’d love to go stick them bare in the snow."

"When I first started taking Caplyta, it was good. No side effects or anything. My head wasn't racing, and my mind was clear. I was a happy girl. However, the longer I've been taking it, I've seen hives and I've been lightheaded a lot more. A lot of the side effects were coming into play. But the overall experience with Caplyta is awesome. It makes my moods much nicer, and my thoughts are happier. Life is a lot better with Caplyta, because without Caplyta, I would probably be divorced now. My friends and family wouldn't be around me if I was off this medicine. Even my boss says so."

"First week: sleeping through the night, previous 2 years waking every hour, muscle soreness in the entire back-upper/lower, dizziness when sitting then standing, beginning to walk, swollen under eyes first 2 days after a night sleep, shortness of breath, extreme fatigue, body temperature changes."

"Took 1 pill (low dose to start) in the evening. I don't remember if I took it with food. 1 hour later, my hands and feet started feeling a burning sensation as if I was putting them under a hot heat lamp. No degree of cold (cold water, ice water, ice) helped with the intensity of the feeling of burning. My hands and feet were red but at a regular temperature to the touch. I was eventually able to go to sleep, and the burning sensation stopped by the next morning. With that side effect, I did not take another dose. After reading many other people's reviews, I found only one person who had a similar reaction. It must be very rare. Most reviews I read were very positive. Wish mine had been too. I also contacted the company that makes Caplyta to inform them of the side effect."

"It's been about 2 weeks since I started taking Caplyta, and so far, I've only noticed the side effects and not so much of any drastic change in depression. Maybe a little more clear-headed and calm, but it still needs more time to work. The side effects I've noticed seem weird and uncommon compared to other reviews. It definitely puts me to sleep, so I take it at night. I've noticed the palms of my hands are super red, but I'm not hot at all. Also, my acid reflux came back, frequent urination, the occasional headache, and my hair is shedding a lot/falling out :/ (assuming it's the medication). On the bright side, I'm losing a lot of weight, have no changes in libido (thank God), and have no feelings of suicide, which most other meds cause for me. Going to keep taking it as I hear the side effects should be going away soon. * Will be taking vitamins for my hair though."

"I have been on Caplyta for 3 months now, and I have nothing but great things to say. My mood, attitude, and emotional outbursts are about 95 percent better. Also, my sleep is great!!! So glad to have been prescribed this medication. I have been on around 15 different medications, and they would do ehhh, but this is the best ever!"

"The first time I tried this med, the side effects after just one pill were unbearable. But, I contacted my doctor and asked him to switch me to another antipsychotic that I could titrate up. He then wrote a script for Caplyta again, but at a dose of 10.5. They’ve recently released lower doses (10.5 and 21 mg). I think they did this because a lot of people were reporting terrible side effects when starting at 42 mg. I believe they did this because of all the negative reviews from starting right at 42 mg. So starting at the 10.5, I still had side effects for a week or so. The headaches hung on the longest. I’ve been on it about two weeks now and the side effects have completely subsided. I’m starting to feel better. My mood is lifting, I’m more productive, and I’m even getting my libido back! I’m so glad I tried again."

"I started Caplyta about 6-7 months ago for bipolar 1. Caplyta has changed my life! I never knew it wasn't possible to not have terrible, bad thoughts randomly. Caplyta, no joke, has completely stopped mine. I'm not having any yucky side effects, but I am starting to notice a little uncontrolled movement in my jaw and hands, though. I recommend Caplyta so highly I'd do a commercial for them! :)"

"Caplyta has been great! I’ve had no major side effects and I’m sleeping well! It’s not as sedating as Seroquel, which is nice, and I don’t feel groggy the next day. I get restless legs for no more than an hour about 2-3 hours after taking it. I have noticed a big improvement in my mood, and I’m a lot more hygienic than I was before. I highly recommend you try it! Very expensive ($1500/mo), but with the coupon it’s $15!"

"I've been on Caplyta for about 5 weeks now. I've been through seven different medications in the past year and a half that have caused severe side effects including suicidal thoughts and uncontrollable jaw movements. Caplyta is the first medication that has worked for me with only minor side effects. I get minor headaches, dry mouth, and I have to pee a lot but I can deal with it. My house is clean for the first time in years, I can feel happiness for the first time in years, and I have hope for the first time in years. I don't seem to need Klonopin anymore which is a major plus!"

"I am currently taking the 42mg of Caplyta and they make me extremely sleepy. I slept 20 hours the first day. A week later already and still sleeping too much, 12-16 hours, and when awake, a feeling of confusion and sleepiness to the point where I can’t even drive. Overall, the sedation is too much. I will try the lowest dose (since I only weigh 114 lbs at 5’ 7”) and see if it will improve that problem."

"Caplyta is an amazing medication for me! I have largely treatment-resistant Bipolar II depression for 25 years. Caplyta is the BEST antipsychotic used for bipolar disorder that I have ever been prescribed. Only one side effect (stomach upset and diarrhea) the first 3-4 days. I noticed a difference in myself after about 10 days of taking Caplyta. Negative obsessive thoughts, bleak outlook, listlessness, and motivation/energy were the symptoms helped the most. I am living a fuller life filled with hope and motivation. Again, amazing med!"

"I first took Caplyta last night. Within 30 minutes, my skin was on fire! No hives, but like someone else said, Icy Hot. Then I projectile vomited all over my bathroom: nausea, diarrhea, terrible headache, and body aches. I was chilled to my bones and then had hot flashes. Fever of 102.1 that didn’t go away with ibuprofen. Then at 5 am, I started seeing aliens from the corner of my eyes. I took Benadryl and slept with my light on. I had to call into work, and the kids missed school because there was no way I could drive. My body does NOT like this stuff. One and done forever!"

"I started Caplyta 42 mg and everything was fine at first. After a month, I started having severe anxiety and could not function. My body temperature could not be regulated, and I had to pee all the time. I felt groggy and weak every morning too. This continued from August until October. When a severe depressive episode began, I finally had to get off this drug. My psychiatrist put me back on Abilify."

"I got this medication this week. The first night I took it, and an hour later I had a huge headache, and when I got up, the whole room spun so badly I had to hold onto my bed. The next morning I was getting up for school, and nobody could wake me up for a long time, even shaking me. I eventually woke up and was exhausted even though I had slept 9 hours. I couldn’t even stay awake while on my Adderall prescription and fell asleep doing my makeup on the floor. Then all day people were telling me I looked like I was on something, and I seemed drugged up, and I really felt like I was. I also had a major migraine and extreme dizziness, and the exhaustion stayed the whole day. The third and second day was pretty much the same as the first two, but it just seemed to be getting worse. Supposed to take my fourth dose tonight, but I’m not. Worst med I have ever taken."

"This medication has completely transformed me and my life. I am bipolar with drug-resistant depression. It took a VERY long time to get a correct diagnosis and get on the correct meds. I was told I just had depression, which was partially 'my fault' because I viewed my mania as me just feeling fine/normal. It took a lot of self-insight, journaling, and research to figure out it was mania/hypomania. Once I reported this to my doctor, we settled on the correct diagnosis. I have been on/tried SEVERAL medications with little to no improvements yet luckily with few side effects. I switched doctors about 1 year ago and 5 weeks ago today, I was put on CAPLYTA after reading a brochure. I requested to try it. INCREDIBLE results. Everything about me has improved. Literally everything. I would highly recommend talking to your doc about this. If I could give it a 100 out of 10, I would!!"

"I have been on Caplyta for probably about 8 months. I take 21.5 mg along with Seroquel 200mg. I have Bipolar I and lean more depressive. I can 100% say that this medication has stopped my suicidal ideation and thoughts. This is the only medication (except Abilify) that I would say has genuinely improved my outlook on life. Some days I still get random bouts of depression, but I'm able to take a step back and realign my feelings (crazy concept, I know). After taking multiple different medications over the past four years, I can confidently say this has been one of my most effective medications."

"I was started on Caplyta 42 mg, which literally knocked me out and into the ER. The side effects ended after about 8 hours. I didn't take any more, but surprisingly I felt better (I was in a BAD depression). When I went back to the doctor, I asked him to reduce the dosage to 10.5 mg, which he did. I made sure I was in bed and did not have to get up before I took it (which I highly recommend doing). A few days later, I upped the dose to 21 mg, which is working great. I feel better than I have felt in over 5 years. I was at a crossroads: death or change. The Caplyta was the change I needed. I am 3 times as active as I was before, kind of hypomanic, but feel wonderful. The side effects I have are a stuffy nose one hour after taking (I use sinus spray for that), lightheadedness within 30 minutes, I need to go to bed, my blood pressure drops about 20 points systolic and diastolic, and I occasionally have trouble swallowing when I try to make myself swallow. No weight gain."

"I have been on Caplyta for three months now, and it has been life-changing for me. I switched from Invega, which for me was ineffective and had a huge array of side effects, and the day my psychiatrist made the switch, I felt so much better! It took a couple of weeks for the psychotic symptoms to actually fully stop, but I instantly had my energy back, and I could participate in life. The biggest thing for me was that I had been on various antipsychotics for three years with little success, but Caplyta has hugely improved my quality of life! It has some side effects, I can’t take it with dinner because it makes me very drowsy about an hour after I take it, and I have to go to bed. The first night I took it, I had the sensation of a bad sunburn on my arms and legs, but this for me went away after the initial use. For me, it’s been incredible, but I know it’s not right for everyone."

"The storm cloud overhead is smaller, not gone but smaller. Better. I'm actually smiling again. But Anhedonia is a problem, especially with food. I get hungry but don't WANT to eat. I have no interest in eating. It's hard to force myself. I'm working with my doctor and therapist."

"I have been on Caplyta for over a month now. I've been in such a better mood and lost 15 lbs. But I have been experiencing side effects: dizziness, lightheadedness, feeling of heaviness in my chest, headaches, and feeling like I'll pass out. I thought it was Caplyta, but I'm also taking Depakote 1000mg. I got my Depakote levels checked, and they were very low (I haven't missed a dose of it). So that explains all of my side effects. I Googled if Caplyta interacts with Depakote, and from what I've seen, no, but it does. I'm currently tapering off Depakote, and each day I'm feeling better. I'm in better moods, not dwelling on the past, or having vivid visions of awful things happening. So I can't wait to feel the full effects of Caplyta once the Depakote is out of my system. I do recommend this medicine!"

"I was nervous taking this after reading of the possible side effects. The day after my first dose, I had a horrible headache all the next day, but no symptoms continued after that. Day 3 and I’m already feeling better! Depression has been horrible this past year. But now I have a will to live again! Would recommend trying it for bipolar depression."

"The first day I took it, my body went into complete shock. I was so scared, I panicked to the point I couldn’t feel my heart beating. I called 911 and an ambulance came. They helped me get back to a normal state and reassured me that the medication was doing its job and I would feel better soon. They were right. The next day, I felt amazing. My thoughts were clear and not racing. I didn’t feel manic or depressed. I could stop and recognize my emotions. I was able to make sound decisions. I felt like a whole new person. If Latuda didn’t work for you, or you don’t do well on generic brand meds, I would try Caplyta. 10/10 recommend."

"I have been taking Caplyta since April. I take it with Zoloft. I used to take Latuda before I switched to Caplyta because I kept gaining a lot of weight. On Latuda, I was always hungry. Now, on Caplyta, I almost never feel the need to eat. But I've noticed when I don't eat for several hours, I'm insanely irritable, and I get manic. That's when I realize that I am not only hungry, but starving. I just can't really tell when I'm hungry anymore. I just woke up out of a really deep sleep. I was almost paralyzed with exhaustion even though I got enough hours of sleep, and I was shaking all over, and my head is moving 100 miles a minute because I haven't eaten in over 12 hours. Is this normal?"
