For Schizophrenia "I have been on Caplyta for a week for schizoaffective disorder. I have had mild nausea, and so far, I have gained 2 pounds in the week I have been on it. Will not tolerate weight gain, and so far, my psychosis is still happening. May go back on Geodon if my symptoms do not improve."

For Bipolar Disorder "This medication has saved me!!! I have suffered so long with horrible mood swings, mania, and depression. I have tried lots of things, but I went to a new psychiatrist, and she started me on Vraylar, which gave me terrible anxiety and wouldn’t stop. Then she switched me to this. I read lots of bad reviews about it, but I took it anyway because I know everyone’s different. I take this, along with Wellbutrin & Vyvanse, and honestly, it’s great because I can sleep at night. Everyone tells me how much happier and alert I seem. I’m actually motivated now! I think it’s a combo of all 3 meds, but I know this one definitely made a world of difference for me! I say ignore these bad reviews and give it a try, my husband said this med saved my life!!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I’ve been on Caplyta for just about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks. The first couple of days, I felt unbelievably drugged up. I couldn’t walk without losing my balance. The first 3 to 4 days, I had an insane migraine. My appetite disappeared and has yet to come back. I’m more shaky than I have ever been. It might just be the anxiety, though. My anxiety is not diminished at all on this medication. I’ve been diagnosed with bipolar II, and I’m starting to believe that this medication is boosting my irritability; I’ve been agitated easier and more intensely. The first week, I felt more productive, but now I feel like I’ve always felt. My emotions are intense, my thoughts are loud, and my insomnia is worse. This medication may work for you; be mindful that you will most definitely not see improvement within the first weeks. I’m hoping to see changes, however, I’m doubtful."

For Bipolar Disorder "Took 1 pill (low dose to start) in the evening. I don't remember if I took it with food. 1 hour later, my hands and feet started feeling a burning sensation as if I was putting them under a hot heat lamp. No degree of cold (cold water, ice water, ice) helped with the intensity of the feeling of burning. My hands and feet were red but at a regular temperature to the touch. I was eventually able to go to sleep, and the burning sensation stopped by the next morning. With that side effect, I did not take another dose. After reading many other people's reviews, I found only one person who had a similar reaction. It must be very rare. Most reviews I read were very positive. Wish mine had been too. I also contacted the company that makes Caplyta to inform them of the side effect."

For Bipolar Disorder "(Prescribed for bipolar II) This was the worst experience I’ve ever had with any prescription ever, and I only took one pill. In common with other antipsychotics I’ve taken in the past, it made me so lethargic I practically felt drunk. But what was so concerning I actually called the doctors after hours was that I felt unbelievably chilled to the bone (and I’m usually always hot). I was in bed freezing despite wearing four blankets, warm fuzzy socks, slippers, pants, two sweatshirts, and a beanie. Before the “drunk” feeling kicked in, I had to drive my son to work up the street, and I was blasting my heat in the car at 86 degrees! My skin began to burn badly. I can’t explain better than it being like on the verge of frostbite but was warm to the touch on the outside. My feet were and still are the worst. It’s been 8 hours since I took the meds, and I’m not too cold anymore, but my feet have felt like they’re on fire so bad I’d love to go stick them bare in the snow."

For Bipolar Disorder "Caplyta is one of many antipsychotics I have tried, but it's the only one that makes me feel like a normal person. I have been taking Caplyta for about 1.5 years, and it has been wonderful. I really don't remember any major side effects when I first started taking it, but I'm absolutely miserable if I miss a dose. I feel on edge/unstable, and I am literally unable to sleep. I'm currently feeling those effects because my pharmacy screwed up, and I had to go without it until they received the medication to fill my prescription. But I love Caplyta! If your insurance won't cover it, the manufacturer has a discount card!"

For Bipolar Disorder "When I first started taking Caplyta, it was good. No side effects or anything. My head wasn't racing, and my mind was clear. I was a happy girl. However, the longer I've been taking it, I've seen hives and I've been lightheaded a lot more. A lot of the side effects were coming into play. But the overall experience with Caplyta is awesome. It makes my moods much nicer, and my thoughts are happier. Life is a lot better with Caplyta, because without Caplyta, I would probably be divorced now. My friends and family wouldn't be around me if I was off this medicine. Even my boss says so."

For Bipolar Disorder "I've been on Caplyta for about 5 weeks now. I've been through seven different medications in the past year and a half that have caused severe side effects including suicidal thoughts and uncontrollable jaw movements. Caplyta is the first medication that has worked for me with only minor side effects. I get minor headaches, dry mouth, and I have to pee a lot but I can deal with it. My house is clean for the first time in years, I can feel happiness for the first time in years, and I have hope for the first time in years. I don't seem to need Klonopin anymore which is a major plus!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I started Caplyta 42 mg and everything was fine at first. After a month, I started having severe anxiety and could not function. My body temperature could not be regulated, and I had to pee all the time. I felt groggy and weak every morning too. This continued from August until October. When a severe depressive episode began, I finally had to get off this drug. My psychiatrist put me back on Abilify."

For Schizophrenia "I've been taking Caplyta for about two months, and I have improved so much. Other medications I've tried just made me gain weight, and they were just sedatives that did nothing but make me sleep and eat. I would go back to the doctor and complain and then just get another one to make me sleep and eat. But Caplyta is different, it actually gets rid of the hallucinations instead of sedating and numbing my head."

For Bipolar Disorder "It's been about 2 weeks since I started taking Caplyta, and so far, I've only noticed the side effects and not so much of any drastic change in depression. Maybe a little more clear-headed and calm, but it still needs more time to work. The side effects I've noticed seem weird and uncommon compared to other reviews. It definitely puts me to sleep, so I take it at night. I've noticed the palms of my hands are super red, but I'm not hot at all. Also, my acid reflux came back, frequent urination, the occasional headache, and my hair is shedding a lot/falling out :/ (assuming it's the medication). On the bright side, I'm losing a lot of weight, have no changes in libido (thank God), and have no feelings of suicide, which most other meds cause for me. Going to keep taking it as I hear the side effects should be going away soon. * Will be taking vitamins for my hair though."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have been on Caplyta for 3 months now, and I have nothing but great things to say. My mood, attitude, and emotional outbursts are about 95 percent better. Also, my sleep is great!!! So glad to have been prescribed this medication. I have been on around 15 different medications, and they would do ehhh, but this is the best ever!"

For Schizophrenia "I'm sensitive to antidepressants because of my condition. Schizoaffective bipolar type. I was dealing with morbid depression and invasive thoughts. Caplyta changed my life. I've been taking it now for close to 3 months. I'm dealing with life without invasive thoughts and depression. I'm incredibly grateful for this drug."

For Bipolar Disorder "I started Caplyta about 6-7 months ago for bipolar 1. Caplyta has changed my life! I never knew it wasn't possible to not have terrible, bad thoughts randomly. Caplyta, no joke, has completely stopped mine. I'm not having any yucky side effects, but I am starting to notice a little uncontrolled movement in my jaw and hands, though. I recommend Caplyta so highly I'd do a commercial for them! :)"

For Bipolar Disorder "The first time I tried this med, the side effects after just one pill were unbearable. But, I contacted my doctor and asked him to switch me to another antipsychotic that I could titrate up. He then wrote a script for Caplyta again, but at a dose of 10.5. They’ve recently released lower doses (10.5 and 21 mg). I think they did this because a lot of people were reporting terrible side effects when starting at 42 mg. I believe they did this because of all the negative reviews from starting right at 42 mg. So starting at the 10.5, I still had side effects for a week or so. The headaches hung on the longest. I’ve been on it about two weeks now and the side effects have completely subsided. I’m starting to feel better. My mood is lifting, I’m more productive, and I’m even getting my libido back! I’m so glad I tried again."

For Schizophrenia "I have trialed this medication for 8 months and previously had a raving review about weight loss and more manageable symptoms. Problems have arisen since my initial review that have changed my opinion. It costs $2000 out of pocket and is not available in generic, so it is also not the most accessible. This medication raised my prolactin levels outside of the normal range, resulting in visible hair loss (I am a young woman). Raised prolactin levels can also affect fertility, and I could not tolerate either. Taking this medication while in school negatively impacted my schedule and caused me to have to take a medical leave. Immediately after taking the drug, I am extremely exhausted and cannot think. I could not dedicate evenings to getting schoolwork done as needed, due to slow cognition and lethargy immediately after taking. With this medicine, there is initial weight gain and then eventual weight loss, but if you miss a dose or doses, the weight comes right back."

For Bipolar Disorder "Caplyta has been great! I’ve had no major side effects and I’m sleeping well! It’s not as sedating as Seroquel, which is nice, and I don’t feel groggy the next day. I get restless legs for no more than an hour about 2-3 hours after taking it. I have noticed a big improvement in my mood, and I’m a lot more hygienic than I was before. I highly recommend you try it! Very expensive ($1500/mo), but with the coupon it’s $15!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I first took Caplyta last night. Within 30 minutes, my skin was on fire! No hives, but like someone else said, Icy Hot. Then I projectile vomited all over my bathroom: nausea, diarrhea, terrible headache, and body aches. I was chilled to my bones and then had hot flashes. Fever of 102.1 that didn’t go away with ibuprofen. Then at 5 am, I started seeing aliens from the corner of my eyes. I took Benadryl and slept with my light on. I had to call into work, and the kids missed school because there was no way I could drive. My body does NOT like this stuff. One and done forever!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I got this medication this week. The first night I took it, and an hour later I had a huge headache, and when I got up, the whole room spun so badly I had to hold onto my bed. The next morning I was getting up for school, and nobody could wake me up for a long time, even shaking me. I eventually woke up and was exhausted even though I had slept 9 hours. I couldn’t even stay awake while on my Adderall prescription and fell asleep doing my makeup on the floor. Then all day people were telling me I looked like I was on something, and I seemed drugged up, and I really felt like I was. I also had a major migraine and extreme dizziness, and the exhaustion stayed the whole day. The third and second day was pretty much the same as the first two, but it just seemed to be getting worse. Supposed to take my fourth dose tonight, but I’m not. Worst med I have ever taken."

For Bipolar Disorder "Caplyta is an amazing medication for me! I have largely treatment-resistant Bipolar II depression for 25 years. Caplyta is the BEST antipsychotic used for bipolar disorder that I have ever been prescribed. Only one side effect (stomach upset and diarrhea) the first 3-4 days. I noticed a difference in myself after about 10 days of taking Caplyta. Negative obsessive thoughts, bleak outlook, listlessness, and motivation/energy were the symptoms helped the most. I am living a fuller life filled with hope and motivation. Again, amazing med!"

For Bipolar Disorder "The storm cloud overhead is smaller, not gone but smaller. Better. I'm actually smiling again. But Anhedonia is a problem, especially with food. I get hungry but don't WANT to eat. I have no interest in eating. It's hard to force myself. I'm working with my doctor and therapist."

For Bipolar Disorder "I am currently taking the 42mg of Caplyta and they make me extremely sleepy. I slept 20 hours the first day. A week later already and still sleeping too much, 12-16 hours, and when awake, a feeling of confusion and sleepiness to the point where I can’t even drive. Overall, the sedation is too much. I will try the lowest dose (since I only weigh 114 lbs at 5’ 7”) and see if it will improve that problem."

For Bipolar Disorder "This medication has completely transformed me and my life. I am bipolar with drug-resistant depression. It took a VERY long time to get a correct diagnosis and get on the correct meds. I was told I just had depression, which was partially 'my fault' because I viewed my mania as me just feeling fine/normal. It took a lot of self-insight, journaling, and research to figure out it was mania/hypomania. Once I reported this to my doctor, we settled on the correct diagnosis. I have been on/tried SEVERAL medications with little to no improvements yet luckily with few side effects. I switched doctors about 1 year ago and 5 weeks ago today, I was put on CAPLYTA after reading a brochure. I requested to try it. INCREDIBLE results. Everything about me has improved. Literally everything. I would highly recommend talking to your doc about this. If I could give it a 100 out of 10, I would!!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I was put on Caplyta after Invega Sustenna made me gain around 60 lbs. The first two weeks, Caplyta made me so sedated I had to start taking it at night, but after I switched to that, it worked well. On Caplyta, I was finally able to start losing weight, and I would say it’s weight neutral. Unfortunately, I think I will have to stop taking it because I am having problems controlling my bladder. It isn’t a lot, but enough to notice. At first, this symptom went away after a month and a half, but it has come back, and I don’t feel like being 29 and incontinent is worth it, so I will be looking for something else."
