Ativan (lorazepam) "Ativan 0.5 mg as needed for panic attacks. Not good for long-term use, in my opinion, because you will always need more, the body will tolerate the dose and need more for the same calming effect. But it's a short-acting med for anxiety and panic attacks and has been working wonderfully for me for years. I have bipolar 2 with rapid mood cycling and bad PMS symptoms, and it's a blessing when I do need it. I never take more than 1 mg at one time, though, because it is a strong drug. Peace. This too shall pass."

"This is an amazing medicine, in my opinion, the best for anxiety and panic disorders! It is the only anxiety medicine I have ever tried, and it allows me to get over that attack feeling quickly, and then continue the rest of the day normal again without getting so tired that I have to sleep. With Ativan, I am able to stay awake and functional for the rest of the day! Work, ball game, whatever I'm doing that day, I can take just 1 mg and be fine the rest of the day without being too tired or sluggish the day after. I know that everyone is different, but I speak on behalf of my own experience. If you haven't found something to help with your personal disorder, I would definitely recommend talking to your doctor about Ativan."

Ativan (lorazepam) "Potent medication. What makes this medicine so useful for panic/bad anxiety is that you can dissolve it under your tongue in case you need to get the anti-anxiety/panic effect quickly. It tastes 'sugary'. A tip my doctor told me about. Same for Klonopin. Very effective medicine."

"To anyone who reads this. I was driving my car, and all of a sudden... BAM!!! Out of nowhere, my heart was beating very rapidly and hard. I could feel my body shaking with the heartbeats, then an extreme pressure on my chest, then my throat got a weird feeling... like a burning pressure, and then my teeth hurt!! I was flipping out!! Then I got lightheaded and thought I was having a heart attack. It was 19 degrees out, but I put the window down to get air, which didn't help. It wouldn't stop. Then the lightheaded feeling made me think, OMG I'm gonna pass out and I don't want to have an accident and kill someone!! I was on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, so I pulled over and put my four ways on. A cop came, and he red-lighted it 120 mph to the hospital... ATIVAN SAVED ME!"

"At 16, I had a traumatic experience that gave me my first panic attack. Since that day, I have suffered from on-again-off-again anxiety that sometimes spirals into full-blown panic attacks. Simply put, this medication has been a gift from the heavens. I rarely take it because I am told it is addictive, but if I feel like I am getting anxiety and spiraling, it literally stops a panic attack cold. In fact, since I have been prescribed the medicine, my panic attacks have plummeted, simply because I have gained control over them. I know in my head that if my anxiety wants to test me, I can stop it. This gives me a feeling of control and has reduced my attacks by 95%. It has changed my life."

"Recently, I started experiencing panic attacks for no apparent reason. I stopped taking caffeine, still had the panic attacks. I don't drink alcohol, so no need to stop that. Stopped smoking, still panic attacks. Stopped pretty much everything I could think of that triggered these attacks. Still had that horrible death feeling that all of us who suffer with panic disorder experience. Even hearing the words panic disorder from my doc... it was a sobering experience. My GP prescribed me .5 mg Ativan taken as needed, and they are lifesavers. Within 10-15 minutes, I begin feeling normal. I can function again. I can work again. I don't know how I'd survive without these little helpers."

Ativan (lorazepam) "Honestly, I have been taking Ativan for 2 years now, 1 mg twice daily. It does help, but it should be used as a tool for panic attacks, NOT A SOLUTION. I have tried so many antidepressants as well, such as Cymbalta, Cipralex, and a couple more. The best thing is to talk to close friends and family or even a psychiatrist. Talking to people and venting is honestly the best thing you can do for yourself, even though it takes a lot of willpower to do it. I would love to hear other people's opinions."

Ativan (lorazepam) "I began having panic attacks in the middle of the night a few months ago, and my doctor prescribed 0.5 mg of Ativan to take as needed. He told me it was fast-acting and would be out of my system in 6 hours. The first time I took it, my panic stopped in about 15 minutes. It was like someone turned the faucet off, just completely gone. I was able to get to sleep without a problem for the first time in weeks. I did notice that it becomes considerably less effective if I take it more than 1-2 times in a week, so I try to do everything I can to calm down before reaching for the bottle. Currently starting Zoloft to help with underlying issues (have been on and off it before), and I keep this handy for any random anxiety spikes while my body adjusts."

"I always keep a pill or two in my pocket in case of a panic attack. I first try to calm myself down - if that doesn't work, I take 0.5 to 1 mg of sublingual lorazepam, and the panic attack goes away in a matter of minutes (usually 10 minutes). Also helped me getting sleepy when I would get anxiety attacks before going to bed and couldn't keep calm. It may be habit-inducing, however, in some cases, it is necessary. It is the best solution when nothing else seems to help. In my opinion, it's the best benzodiazepine for panic attacks."

"I am 20, I started having anxiety attacks 3 months ago, and I am now diagnosed with panic disorder. I was rushed by ambulance to the hospital, and they gave me 0.05 mg of Ativan. It calmed me down so fast, and I felt better. Now I take it as needed, and it saves me from cycling into a worse state during my attacks. I love it."

Ativan (lorazepam) "Medication works great and how it is supposed to. I was on generic lorazepam and would find the quality would differ based on manufacturer and it wouldn’t affect me. After switching to brand the effects are more consistent and it seems so much more potent. It was a fight getting my insurance to completely cover it but it was worth it. 0.5mg and I’m so tired and don’t have any anxiety to worry about. Calms my panic and helps with nausea quite a bit."

Ativan (lorazepam) "My experience with a serious panic attack was thought to be the onset of a heart attack. I was monitored, had lab work, even x-rays. No heart attack, my heart was found to be totally clean of blockages. So the doctors conferred that I was indeed having a full-scale panic attack. I was given a single 1 mg pill of Ativan. Within minutes I was calmer, breathing returned to slow and regular, I felt warmer and secure, clear-headed yet a little sleepy. The other meds I take are one 75 mg Effexor XR nightly and a single capsule of raw thyroid nightly. I do take a vitamin and mineral supplement when I think to. The Ativan prescription was issued for short-term and serious times of panic only. It was recommended I receive counsel, as well."

Ativan (lorazepam) "I have had panic disorder for 19 years. It started with 'status panicus' (continual panic), which was treated by a year of imipramine. When that was tapered off, I switched to concentrated EPA Omega-3 oil, which has controlled the panic for 18 years. But it sometimes breaks through, especially when I am building up antibodies to an infection. That is when Tofranil (lorazepam) comes to my rescue. A 0.5 mg dose will quell the aura/breakthrough symptoms. A similar dose at bedtime will get me the crucial night of sound sleep that I need to get the disorder back into its cage. Sometimes one good night is all I need to get back on track - a lifesaver."

Ativan (lorazepam) "I’ve had Panic Disorder for 5 years and was recently diagnosed with agoraphobia in the past month after having probably 60 something panic attacks under my belt. The first time I ever tried half of a 1 mg tablet, I was in tears of happiness and relief because I had never been able to find a medication that was more effective for my panic attacks. This pill saved my life. I take 1x - 2 mg tablet as needed whenever I feel a panic attack coming on and I am so grateful that this drug exists. It helped me to get my life back together, to be able to function properly in public and not call off work every other week because I feel like I’m going to die LOL. I 100% recommend Ativan to anyone suffering from panic attacks or agoraphobia. 10/10."

Ativan (lorazepam) "Ostensibly prescribed for Meniere's and vertigo, it had a huge impact on my panic episodes and anxiety, only slightly less effective than Xanax, but slightly longer lasting. Also, was a smooth, warm feeling taking it. The downside after a month's use, after a week of nothing, the nausea and vomiting kicked in heavy, so I shy away from this one... That time delay of withdrawal was awkward in public places. Still, if I were to ask for an adjuvant, I'd pick Ativan over the more powerful Xanax."

"I started taking this medication at 0.5 mg and thought I was okay. I had to get the dose upped to 1.0 mg to sleep, but what has been happening is I cry all the time, am angry and sad. I cry most of the day, every day! I am having what a doctor called PTSD from seeing my mom pass 2 years ago and am dealing with anger issues there still, but now all I do is cry! Does anyone else feel this? I feel so alone! Rose"

"I am now 46. I started experiencing panic attacks a year ago. The daily life stress and depression attributed, in my opinion, to my panic attacks. I would have an attack about once to twice daily, some mild, some severe. I had the worst one in Sept/2015. I called 911, I was at home alone. I truly believed my time had come and that I was about to die. I was transported to the ER, and by the time we got there, I had calmed down and started feeling normal again, and that's when the ER doctor officially diagnosed me with social anxiety disorder and prescribed me... you guessed it, lorazepam 1 mg to take as needed. The best thing ever happened to me. I love this medication. Life-saver."

Ativan (lorazepam) "This medicine is powerful. It does stop panic attacks, however, it can leave you drowsy and with difficulty concentrating. It's still a tremendous help with my symptoms, but as I was a programming student in college, my ability to concentrate was still compromised. If you need quick relief from panic attacks, this likely is your medication, but depending on what you do, you may want to look at SSRIs instead (though they take longer to take effect)."

Ativan (lorazepam) "I take 2mg on occasion for sleep I try to go no more then two 2mg pills a week. For SEVERE anger, panic attacks I will I take 2mg. I really try not taking them every time I have an emotion because some are normal. Everyone is different and respond differently and need tailored to their life. Personally, I would rather not take them but realize I have to. Side effects are feeling a little fatigued, down BUT that's the only side effect for me. So I'm very careful with using them."

Ativan (lorazepam) "I'm a young man, 24 years old. I have several issues with my brain since many years ago. I have Major Depression, GAD, SAD, OCD, and Panic Disorder. I've tried many options, I tried Hypnotherapy, Emotional Therapy, CBT. Also, I have been to some psychiatrists in Indonesia and Singapore. Finally, I met the best psychiatrist in my country, and with him, I found the best medication and finally cured my problem. You all have to try this too and talk to your psychiatrist to ask for a prescription. Every morning I take 1 mg Ativan and every night I take 5 mg Zyprexa and 150 mg Zoloft. Please try this, please. Enjoy your life. Also, CBT is good as well."

Ativan (lorazepam) "Currently taking 2-2.5 mg every 5 hours. A little higher than prescribed. I'm still anxious, but not at a crisis level. I feel sleepy, but not so much that I can't function. This medication is inexpensive and definitely worth the try. I'm waiting to see if it gets more helpful as time goes by."

"I suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder with a Panic Disorder. I literally cannot leave the house without this medication because certain things can set me off. I take a rather high dose and have tried to wean down, I got down to 3-2 mg tabs daily from 4, but can't go out at night without a PRN dose in my purse. It literally is a lifesaver if you have debilitating anxiety or PTSD. I am calm and in control on it and have no outbursts. It also helps with my lung cancer when I get shortness of breath. I can start to panic, which makes it worse. I know this is a very easy drug to abuse, but I take it only as prescribed because it is so important to my functioning and having a good quality of life."

Ativan (lorazepam) "I have been having these episodes of panic since '19; after a breakup with my baby's father, I woke up one day, couldn't breathe and went to the hospital. Thought I was dying or having a heart attack. They didn't know what was wrong with me after all kinds of tests. I was going back and forth five times a day; finally, they figured I had an anxiety disorder/panic attacks! I have taken biofeedback, relaxation techniques, therapy, and medications until I found out that Ativan 3 x 1 mg/day or I will be a regular in the E.R. Xanax works, but not as long or as well."

"I’ve had anxiety for a long time but reared itself in early 2017. Then in 2018 I had a small stroke which increased my anxiety. 2018 I lost my dad after being his caregiver for the last 8 months of his life then he died. After his death I had a bad case of kidney stones and had to go through two surgeries to remove them which finally took me over the edge. I’m taking lorazepam not everyday but when needed and so far so good. It’s 0.5 mg."
