For Birth Control "I would never recommend the Liletta to anyone. I gained 20-30 pounds in the first couple of months after insertion and have had the worst time getting rid of the weight, even after removal. While on Liletta, my moods were drastically changed. I experienced sad, dark, and depressing thoughts. Normally being rather optimistic, I knew something was very different about my mood. I experienced an unpleasant, strong vaginal odor all of the time, which was embarrassing. Just every terrible side effect imaginable. Just a week or two after removal, most side effects are gone... except this pesky extra weight. DON’T DO IT, LADIES! Love your lady parts and don’t feed it poison!"

For Birth Control "Horrible, horrible, horrible experience! Worse was only Mirena! I’ve been on it for over a year…still everyday spotting, still awful cramps…mood swings, acne (which I have never had before). Protects - yes, for pregnancy it is 100% - no issues with that, but be prepared for the nightmare of its side effects."

For Birth Control "I had Mirena inserted two years ago, after I had my fourth child. When it was inserted, I did not feel anything at all, I even had to ask the doctor if she was finished, lol. For the first year or so, I had unexpected periods-some short, some long, some heavy, most very, very light. For a short while, I was able to predict when I was going to get my period because my mood swings would go crazy. Now it's been two months that I get less than a day of periods. It is only a little spotting done. I feel good, I have not gained any weight, no pain, no more mood swings. It does not interrupt my sex life with my husband. I would recommend Mirena to anyone."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Tried pill form birth control for a few years before getting off of it because it caused some strange mood swings/anxieties. Felt better off birth control for 1 full year but decided to try Mirena because I was getting my period after like 10 days from stress/etc. I took 4 Advil the morning of, and the procedure was a bit uncomfortable, but it kind of reminded me of getting an ear piercing... it's painful, but it's not like the worst type of pain ever. I just did a lot of deep breathing through it. Had cramping for a few days, but just keep the Advil pumping! Discharge in the beginning, but pretty much smooth sailing now 2 months later. It's great!"

For Emergency Contraception "So I took Plan B twice before. The first time was after a date rape incident, and after I took it, my period came on time, no side effects. The most recent time was a couple months ago. A day after my period ended (Dec 11), I took Plan B 8 hours after unprotected sex, and I wasn’t worried until 5 days after my period was supposed to be here (period was supposed to start Jan 6) I started freaking out, reading all types of reviews, crying, preparing for the absolute worst. I had fatigue and horrible mood swings. I spotted for 2 and a half weeks on and off, and then I finally got my period February 2nd, and it lasted until February 15th. The first week it was very light and got heavier the second week, but was still lighter than usual. I was late a whole 27 days!! Don’t worry, ladies, it works as long as you aren’t ovulating. I won’t be taking it again, though I didn’t like how much it delayed my cycle."

For Emergency Contraception "My partner and I had sex on Jan 22. We're ALWAYS careful, but this time the condom broke. After freaking out, I got a Plan B and took it IMMEDIATELY, like within the hour. Didn't have symptoms at first, then I felt more headaches, bad mood swings, and hungry. I knew I hadn't begun ovulating since I didn't have an increase in discharge and my boobs weren't sore. Five days later, I saw pink spotting, got SCARED AS ANYTHING. Thought it was implantation bleeding. It turned bright red the next day with painful cramps. Lasted six days, and I saw clotting. It is now Feb 11th, I should've gotten my period yesterday. I took a pregnancy test... it was negative! So my period either came super early, or it's coming super late. To all my ladies, track your periods! It really does help when it comes to situations like this. If you don't, use an ovulation calculator. Don't stress out, and make sure to take a pregnancy test to rule out everything as that is really the only way to be sure."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had the Mirena put in 6 weeks ago to help control heavy periods. The actual procedure was uncomfortable, but not 'painful,' although I did take paracetamol and ibuprofen beforehand (as recommended). Week 1, I had no symptoms at all. Then, week 2, I started to bleed. Now at week 6, and I haven't stopped bleeding since week 2. When my 'period' was due, I had double the duration of my normal cycle (where a tampon was required), but the other weeks have been pad only. I haven't had any mood swings or cramping that are any different from before Mirena, so I'm going to bear with it and hope I come out the other end with the intended result... lighter periods. Watch this space!!!"

For Emergency Contraception "DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL!!! My boyfriend had used it in the past with another woman and said it was fine, but I’m used to Plan B, so I had doubts. We got the Take Action, and I took it two days after having sex. I had VERY SEVERE CRAMPS in my pelvic area and lower back. I FELT SO EXHAUSTED, AND MY EMOTIONS WERE OFF THE WALL. I started bleeding the 3rd day after I took the pill, and it is THE WORST PERIOD OF MY LIFE!!! I usually use regulars for a few days, maybe 1 or 2 supers and a lite tampon at the end, but I’ve NEVER bled through super plus tampons within 1-2 hours. Changing panties every 3 hours, doubling up SUPER PLUS TAMPONS AND A SUPER PLUS PAD. I’ll wear the super plus pad at night, by the morning, it has overflowed. I’ve been bleeding like this for 10 DAYS, and it’s the worst I’ve ever felt in my life. I’m still having severe pains and bad mood swings, I even bust out in tears at random times. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL! The effect it has on your body is TERRIBLE!"

For Birth Control "I'm 27 with no kids. I do not want kids and never have. I wanted something long-term that was more reliable than the pill and wouldn't mess with me in the way the shot does. I've had Mirena for several months now. At first, the cramping was odd and painful, nothing I couldn't handle, it would happen sporadically and would subside after a few minutes. A few months into it, it's pretty much gone. No periods and minimal spotting. It was literally, for me, 'stick it and forget it.' I'm very happy with it. No weight gain, no acne, no mood swings. I'm still my regular self. For the insertion, I was really scared, and my OB gave me something for nerves. Honestly, it just felt like a deep cramp. I didn't feel the pinch, but it's different for everyone."

For Emergency Contraception "I’m 22 years old. My boyfriend is 20. We had sex, and we haven’t had sex in so long, and it just felt amazing. I had him cum inside me. I know what y’all are thinking… like what? I know, RIGHT! And I’m not even on birth control. Plus, he did it the day of my ovulation, which was worse, so I took Plan B ASAP. Ladies, let me tell you, it was awful. I was bloated, I felt sick, I felt like crap!!! And my mood swings were off the chain! It felt like I was pregnant!!! But it’s crazy how your mind makes you think that. My period was a few days late. The Plan B does work, please don’t listen to those Google posts about it not working if you take it during your ovulation. I took it, and my period still came. Just trust the pill! DO NOT PANIC, and please don’t be like me. Please have protected sex, no matter how amazing it feels…"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have used Mirena for 12 years so far. The first insertion was very painful; my doctor explained that the cervix can tilt, and that is why it was painful. Mild discomfort for two or three days and very light spotting in the first year or two. From then on, no pain or spotting. Occasionally, I have had light spotting after sex. Subsequent insertions by female doctors were pain-free. Having had incredibly heavy, painful periods of 14 days and longer, using tampons and pads at the same time and still having embarrassing leakage, having a Mirena is wonderful. I was anemic and exhausted most of my time before Mirena. Oral contraception made me emotional, and I felt so unsettled I came off them after a few months. I haven't had PMT or menstrual cycle-associated issues since my sixth month or so with the Mirena. My quality of life improved immediately without the fortnightly worry and pain. There are positive outcomes using a Mirena. I would highly recommend giving this IUD a trial at least."

"Get this thing out of me! I was told I would potentially have some spotting following the insertion of Kyleena... well, that spotting ended up lasting 4 months. Since then, it’s a crapshoot as to whether I’ll get my period or not. They’re irregular and impossible to track. I have never been prone to acne, but I now have relentless acne on my chin, and no matter how well I take care of my face, it keeps coming back. Also, I have never experienced any concerns regarding my mental health. Following my IUD insertion, I now find myself horribly irritable, on edge, emotional, anxiety-ridden (unwarranted panic attacks included), the list goes on. Again, these are all highly uncharacteristic of my personality, my nature, and are unrelated to COVID as they appeared prior to 2020. Finally, the last and the absolute worst. I get a persistent morning sickness sensation??? Sometimes it lasts throughout the day (disclaimer: I am not and have not been pregnant). Like painful/uncomfortable waves of nausea. All in all, 0/10."

For Emergency Contraception "I’m writing this because I said I would if it worked, and it did! So I took the pill an hour after it happened, I wasn’t fertile, I had just gotten off my period, so I wasn’t ovulating. However, he said he might have slipped up, so we rushed and got the pill. It’s real easy to take. However, the side effects were terrible for me. I was emotional, mean (often got into fights with my loved ones), cried days upon days. Just upright and angry. Cramps came occasionally. A week after taking the pill, I experienced withdrawal bleeding, which lasted 3 days. I didn’t get my period on time, I got it two weeks after my expected day. If taken on time, you will be fine! It works! Relax, ladies, and get protection, and don’t stress. That’s what pushed my period back and the fact that I had withdrawal bleeding. But it came! I definitely learned my lesson."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Got my Mirena inserted in April '19, today is Oct. 17, roughly over 6 months. So far, all the days were nothing but one horrible pain covered with never-ending bleeding. I will dismiss my headaches, almost like horrible pressure and cystic acne (always been envied of my skin), nausea, mood swings, insomnia, feeling depressed, and lack of libido. However, I can’t believe that something that small could put me through this hell. What else can this be called if for the past 6 months I didn’t wear a pad maybe for 5 days tops? This past week it got so heavy and long with so many huge clots, I feel more insecure than I’ve ever had on my worst period day. My spouse is very supportive, but it’s me that is losing patience with it and about to lose my marbles. Will call my gyno the first thing tomorrow morning to have it removed and won’t leave the room until I see it outside my body. I refuse to be so naive as to be told to wait months to see results. Will keep you posted once I have it out."

For Birth Control "Thank you for these reviews. Finally, I realize that I am not crazy. I have had the Mirena for almost two years. Insertion was almost painless, and at first, everything was wonderful. Slowly, I have noticed awful side effects: mood swings, hot flashes, panic attacks, left arm swollen, insomnia, and too many more to count. I have been to the hospital on four separate occasions, thinking I was having a heart attack, it turns out it is stress from all the other health problems. I am having this removed. I hope everything returns to normal soon."

For Emergency Contraception "I took the Plan B pill in October of 2019. Yes, the pill worked for me because I'm not pregnant. It's now February, which makes 3 months since I have taken the Plan B pill. It took me through mood swings badly, it interfered with my cycle so badly. I used to have a cycle for 5 days straight. Now I’m having my cycle longer than 10 days with really heavy bleeding and clots. I’m getting a period every two weeks out of a month. If I should’ve been more careful and just got on birth control, I wouldn’t be dealing with these prolonged side effects I’m having from the Plan B pill. They tell you that your body should return back to normal the following month after taking Plan B. WHICH IS THE BIGGEST MISLEADING LIE EVER. Yes, I understand it does interfere with your cycle, but telling us that our bodies should be back to normal within a month is false in my case."

For Birth Control "I've had Kyleena for 1.5 years, and I LOVE it. Insertion was uncomfortable, and I definitely cramped for a day or two after; nothing that Advil couldn't handle. For anyone who's had a PAP/period cramps, the pain should be familiar and tolerable. My periods have been shorter and lighter since month one (light/moderate for 3-4 days), and now, more than a year in, I frequently miss periods! As far as side effects, maybe it has affected my mood, but I've had a harder year, so it would be difficult to say either way. I have also experienced some vaginal dryness with intercourse, but this is easily resolved with lube, which I previously used, just more frequently now. My sex drive, which has always been high, is the same. My experience has been positive, and while I know it is not the same for everyone, I wanted to share to help balance off the bad experiences people tend to share; nothing wrong with that. I just think it is nice for women to know that some women can and do have good experiences with IUDs."

For Emergency Contraception "I left a previous review about how amazing Aftera was for me, but I have a disclaimer: It CAN delay your period. It CAN cause mood swings and irritation. It CAN give you cramps, weakness, and simply make your body feel off-whack. But for the wonders it worked, it was totally worth it."

For Emergency Contraception "Plan B worked!! I took Plan B on August 9 after making out with a partner (not my boyfriend). Precum could have been there, so I took it just in case. My period came a week early on August 20, heavy with bad cramps for about 5 days. I was expecting my second period to come on September 20, but it didn’t come. I panicked because I had pregnancy symptoms like sore/swollen breasts, depression, cramping, headaches, and bad mood swings. I took 3 pregnancy tests, all negative. I was 13 days late on my period, and today I finally got my second period, day 43 in my cycle, but I’m happy I’m not pregnant!!! In my opinion, everyone’s body is different."

For Emergency Contraception "My partner and I were having sex when the condom accidentally broke! It was the 14th day of my cycle, so I was fertile. As you can imagine, I was terrified. I took the pill 13 hours later. I was worried that it wasn't taken soon enough. But if you take it within 24 hrs, you'll be fine. I experienced lots of cramping and mood swings for 2 weeks. I seriously thought I was pregnant. I'm not ready for a child and sadly was contemplating abortion. My period came on the day it was expected and I couldn't be happier to have my period! I'm going on the BC pills so I never have to experience this! Just relax & take this pill ASAP as timing is crucial."

For Birth Control "So I have had 3 IUDs in my life-no kids. This was my first time on the Kyleena. Insertion was fine, no issues. I had a period my entire time on the Kyleena. My periods have always been somewhat irregular, and Kyleena sorta regulated them a bit, but the side effects that came along long-term were not worth it in my opinion. Probably after a year or so of having it, my mood swings were insane. Every emotion I felt was intensified. It caused me to become depressed. I would have suicidal thoughts ONLY ON MY PERIOD. My period cramps got really bad, I had multiple UTIs, bacterial vaginosis, and yeast infections. At one point, I had BV and a UTI at once, and the back-to-back antibiotics caused me to get hemorrhoids. My eyelashes started falling out a lot, the vaginal dryness I experienced was horrible. Like I said, I've had 3 IUDs and never experienced these symptoms before. At first, I didn't connect them all to Kyleena, but after doing some research, I figured it out. Please do your research."

For Birth Control "Overall, this has been amazing!! I had so many negative side effects from birth control, such as mood swings, no sex drive at all. I went from being a very sexual person to never wanting to have sex, insomnia, and I would uncontrollably cry before my periods. Since switching to the Kyleena, I have returned to normal and feel like myself again finally! I have had no negative effects besides some random mild cramping...truly just feels like period cramps! The insertion was not horribly painful, and I have a low pain tolerance. It was 3 minutes of pain for 5 years, definitely worth it in my mind! If you're considering switching to a Kyleena IUD, don't let other people's experiences on here discourage you, it works differently for everyone and was the best decision I ever made for me!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 45 and never pregnant (my husband of 17 years has a vasectomy, so pregnancy is not the issue). Got my Mirena on Nov 6, 2015, to control heavy (gushing) bleeding every time I get my period (which was quite regular and predictable). I have bled pretty much continuously since Nov - have had maybe 10 days total where I didn't bleed or have brown discharge. Cramps hit randomly and are severe. It's seriously starting to affect my marriage too - mood swings, constant bleeding = no sex, arguments because of no sex, etc. Called my GYN office today and told them I want this OUT - waiting to hear back from their nurse. I'd rather bleed heavy for 2 days and know it's coming than to maybe bleed or spot or cramp at any given time. NEVER AGAIN!"

For Birth Control "I decided to switch from the pill to Mirena because I was not great at remembering to take the pill, and I am 21 and not ready to have a baby, so I wanted something I could not forget to take. I went online and read reviews and almost did not go through with it because, even though there were some great reviews, the bad ones terrified me, especially because I had a lot of problems on multiple birth control pills before (depression, mood swings, sore breasts, etc.). The initial procedure for me was not bad at all, and the pain was less than a normal period cramp. Since then, I have had no pain and no adverse side effects, and I have nothing but great things to say. So much better than the pill, and honestly, the best decision I have made about bc."

I love everything except the mood swings and anxiety. I'm not the same with my family. Also my sex drive, but if I can only get a hold on this anger, I believe my sex drive would get better. Going to talk with my doctor about it and go from there. Hopefully, it gets better."
