For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've had Mirena for 6 months now, and I'm starting to lose my patience with this thing. The first 3 months, I bled/spotted continuously with little breaks in between. Now, although the spotting has stopped, Auntie Flow has gone from my normal 5 days of bleeding to 14 days of bleeding. I am so miserable. I've talked to my doctor, and she says to give it some time, but I was hoping for things to have gotten a little better by now. My mood swings are very bad, as I find myself angry for no reason. I have gained a few pounds, and at times I feel depressed. I just don't know what to do anymore. I want this to work so badly, but I'm afraid I will just be wasting my time."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had the Mirena inserted 2.5 months ago for very heavy periods and birth control, and up until now I've been hating it every single day! I’ve had continuous bleeding for the last 2.5 months, and it’s driving me nuts! My Dr. also insisted I stick it out and that it will get better, but honestly I wonder! Also, I'm very moody and extremely tired!"

For Birth Control "After my last child and not being comfortable on the pill, I had the Mirena inserted under mild sedation. I felt nothing when I woke and only had slight bleeding for the first month. Thereafter, nothing. I had it in for 8 years - no problems and no bleeding. I am now menopausal and on estrogen patches. My Mirena has been replaced with a new one - it's been 3 months now, and I've only had a day or two of very light spotting. The best thing ever."

For Birth Control "I wanted to write a review because before I got my IUD, I did a lot of research and want to reciprocate for others. The IUD is the greatest decision I've ever made for my health. I personally found the insertion experience completely fine. It was mildly uncomfortable for about 30 seconds while my doctor inserted it, but I took a deep breath and was fine. I had a little bit of spotting right after. Over the following three weeks, I had a mixture of light to moderate/heavy bleeding every day. This wasn't great, but it seems like a minor inconvenience compared to the years of benefits I will get from it. Over the past 6 months that I've had it, I have had light, irregular periods. I am getting them less frequently. Mirena's great. Get it!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 48 years old and have been on the IUD now for 5 months to treat extremely heavy periods. Before getting the IUD, my blood pressure dropped to 90/60, 118 lbs, ferritin levels 6, and because of it, I had two iron infusions, and suffered from migraines and heart palpitations. The IUD was inserted with general anesthesia because the doctor wanted to do a D&C and clean my uterus out. The lining was very thick. I had very heavy hemorrhagic periods going into the IUD. First month, awful bleeding all the time with painful cramps. I had to take tranexamic acid during my period to reduce bleeding. Second month, bleeding and spotting all month long. I couldn’t go without a pad. Painful cramps. I wanted the IUD out, but kept with it. Third month, bleeding is still heavy, spotting all the time. Fourth month, periods are getting lighter but spotting all the time. Fifth month, period is definitely lighter and lighter spotting."

For Birth Control "I was lucky and was having another procedure done at the same time, so I was under anesthesia when they inserted mine, and I didn't experience the pain of insertion that some have described. My body is confused though, because I was supposed to start my period the week after, and I had just had a D&C for a biopsy (which was benign, yay!). So my body tried to have a period, I experienced intense, angry mood swings. I saw others had experienced that on Mirena. Very little bleeding, a little more intense cramping, but Advil took care of it. Mood swings passed after the first couple of days, now I am back to normal. You can feel the string if you search for it in there, but my partner doesn't notice it during intercourse. I will update in 6 months."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had the Mirena inserted about 8 weeks ago. Main reason was to improve heavy flooding periods and ease peri-menopause symptoms. I feel fantastic, more energy and motivation (I was day sleeping a lot). But I have been having spotting/brown discharge or bleeding for 36 days out of 54. It's driving me insane and affecting my intimacy with my partner. I will give it more time because the positives are worth it so far. But if this bleeding, spotting doesn't settle by 6 months, I will seriously consider removal."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I got Mirena inserted about a month ago. I have been bleeding since the insertion, and it's really annoying. I've read some good and bad reviews. Mostly, women complain about the bleeding and weight issues. Hopefully, it works out for the best, or else I'm taking this thing back out!"

For Birth Control "I have only had the Mirena a couple of days, but I really wanted to comment on the pain of insertion. Although it is a very, very uncomfortable type of feeling, it was NOT excruciating pain like some people had. I'm 26, have had no kids, and am overweight (if that helps). It is over with fairly quickly, no longer than a minute or two. I felt some intense cramping and a couple of pinches of pain, but the pain spread into just a bad cramp. Just breathe and you'll be okay. I got this put in because I was sick of breakthrough bleeding on the pill. I wasn't on my normal period when I had it inserted, but I was bleeding a fair amount. This made insertion easier."

For Birth Control "I got Mirena inserted December 15, 2014, and I LOVE IT! I am 21 years old with no children. The insertion was very, very painful. I bled and cramped the day of the insertion and the day afterwards. So far, it's been one week, and I feel fantastic!"

For Birth Control "I chose Mirena after having my fourth child. I was spotting lightly for 6 weeks and almost wanted to take it out, but I waited and the spotting passed. I had that Mirena for a full five years and only had two periods on it. I removed the Mirena and waited for three months to have it replaced. The insertion was just a tiny pinch, no pain really, and lasted about 30 seconds. I had some very light spotting this second time around, maybe a drop of blood during the first day and no bleeding afterwards to my surprise since. My doctor suggested I will probably not have any periods again. I highly recommend this wonder product. It is a miracle product. I never had any side effects from it."

For Birth Control "29 years old and two kids. I've had the Mirena since February 2013. I would recommend it, but my only issue is I bleed for a day or two after sex. But not during, so it's no problem with my husband and me."

For Birth Control "I have been using the Mirena for almost 5 years. Before starting it, I had problems with low iron due to heavy bleeding. At one point, my ferritin level was 4. With the use of iron supplements, I got it up to 30. After using the Mirena for a few years, my ferritin is now over 80. I have almost no bleeding-usually, I menstruate around every 34-35 days, but it's so light I don't need any liners. I had very little discomfort with the insertion. I will be getting a second one inserted in December. After that, I may be through menopause since I am now 46. It's great. I highly recommend it."

For Birth Control "I’m 42, had the Mirena put in August 2019. It is January 2020, and I am still bleeding. The doctor said to give it a little more time, well enough time has passed and I want it out. This was not a great idea, having more cramping than I had before and also weight gain."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm a healthy and active 24-year-old. I had Mirena placed when my second child was 10 weeks old. I bled quite a bit the first 2 months, but then all of a sudden it stopped. I have not had a period or spotting in the last 4 months. I have the occasional cramp, but that's it."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had Mirena inserted on May 27th. Terrible pain, but only for a minute. My doc was quick and talked me through the procedure. Since the 27th, I have bled constantly. It is terrible. I have an extremely heightened sex drive, but the bleeding is getting in the way. My husband wants it out, he said I was better off without it. I have been very moody and tired. I also notice a weird odor, but no infection is present. Ugh."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "This is my second Mirena I have had. No pain with getting it inserted and no periods for 10 years. I am now 50 years old, and I'm overdue by 12 months to get it removed. Going in October. It has been the best thing for me, and I would recommend it to anyone with terrible bleeding. I couldn't cough or sneeze without having blood all over the floor. Had to sit on the toilet for hours until the bleeding would slow down. Best thing ever."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Unfortunately, Mirena made my bleeding worse for me. Instead of 2 days a month of heavy bleeding prior to Mirena, about every 10 days I got 2 or 3 days of heavy flooding bleeding, which would start without any warning. I had to leave work about 5 times, and my husband also had to leave work to pick up the kids from school. I also had anxiety/panicky feelings and a foggy brain. I became so stressed each morning, not knowing if the flooding would happen again. After 6 weeks, I went for an ultrasound to check placement due to the heavy bleeding, and they couldn’t see it properly due to a large fibroid. So, I ended up in emergency, had an X-ray, and it was in the right place, but I asked for removal as it wasn’t helping at all. I couldn’t afford more time off work, etc. I was also worried that if it ever needed to be checked again, they couldn’t see it on ultrasound. It is 2 days since it was removed, and I feel so much better already."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Don't do it. I got Mirena in March of 2016 and bled for a few weeks. I got a period every month until August. No period August, September, October. Starting early November, I began bleeding. It's now January, and I'm STILL BLEEDING. It will not stop. I am having it removed in a day. I cannot wait to get this thing out of me."

For Birth Control "I had the Mirena IUD as part of HRT. I didn't really do a lot of research before I had it fitted. Glad I didn't because most reviews online are negative. So the insertion was horrible, and the 3 weeks after that, I bled. 4 weeks in, now I'm feeling good, and my menopause symptoms have now reduced greatly. I actually feel normal again!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm in my 40s with no kids. I have endometriosis and very painful periods. I got the Mirena a few days ago and I have had cramps nonstop since, my doctor told me to expect cramps and bleeding. The procedure was very uncomfortable. But I'm hoping this will help with my endometriosis and painful periods."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I got Mirena inserted about 3 months ago, and I am so happy that I did. I had been on 4 different types of birth control pills, and each of them affected me differently. I gained weight, had terrible mood swings, didn't have a sex drive, and was always fatigued. Now that I have gotten Mirena, everything has changed... I lost almost 10 pounds, now back to where I was before I ever started the pills! I weigh around 122, and when I was on the pills, I weighed 132, and I was miserable. Mirena has made me have light bleeding here and there, but my doctor said that it is just my body adjusting. I am very satisfied with it, and I hope that it treats me well for the next 5 years!"

For Birth Control "I had Mirena inserted in February while I was on my cycle. The insertion wasn't killer, the pain came after when I was leaving the doc. Felt like pulling over and crying. The next day was all good. I bled through April. It stopped for about 3 weeks, and now the bleeding is back with a vengeance. I'm bleeding like crazy. I hope it quits soon."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I got my Mirena IUD in October, and I was super excited about it. The pain getting it in was pretty mild, but my biggest problem is bleeding. I haven't had a period since before I started Mirena, but since I've started, I've been bleeding for at least a month straight. I get more intense headaches, really bad cramping, and a serious loss of appetite."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Inserted July '16 to control extremely heavy periods. Insertion tolerable with a day of cramping. Within a week, I started having constant leakage-requiring a liner every day. Cycles 1-3 were lighter-but LONGER. (10+ days compared to 5-6 days) I also started cramping, which I hadn't done since puberty. The leakage NEVER stopped. I scheduled a removal because constant leaking and wearing a liner every single day wasn't something I could deal with anymore... Feeling unclean made being intimate with my husband very difficult. AND in 3 months, I've gained 10 pounds. Sadly, a family emergency required me to put off removal by a week. This 4th cycle is a nightmare. HEAVY bleeding with golf/baseball clots. I wish I'd never had Mirena inserted."
