For Birth Control "Normally I have a 3-5 day flow with cramps/back pain for 2 days. After a pregnancy scare, I decided to get this IUD put in. Insertion was a bit more painful than I anticipated, and I had some bleeding for a day or two. I'm now on my first period with it, and I've been having some form of bleeding for 10 days now. I am extremely frustrated. I did read that periods may be heavier/irregular for the first 3-4 months. I suppose I mentally anticipated a heavier flow rather than a normal/lighter flow for a longer period of time. I would much prefer the former. I have cramps every day now for about an hour or two, and even when the flow darkens I get cramps and back to bright red blood. It feels like I'll have my period forever. Will update."

For Birth Control "I have had no prior birth control for 10 years. I have 3 kids. Done. Asked my doc for advice on a permanent solution. He gave me Liletta. I've been bleeding ever since. 8 weeks now. That's right, 56 days in a row of 6-8 saturated tampons!! This is the worst decision I could have ever made. Best birth control. Who wants to have sex while they are bleeding profusely??!! Clearly, not what I was wanting. I'd rather risk another pregnancy than keep bleeding like this. Postpartum was 4 weeks of bleeding/spotting at worst. My periods were 30-35 days in between. Now it's a freaking blood bath of 50+ days straight. I'm done. This thing is coming out tomorrow."

For Birth Control "Got my Liletta at Planned Parenthood in early December 2016. I'm 22, never been pregnant or had a pap before. My doctors were very nice, and the procedure wasn't that bad. They even gave me a heat pack to put on my tummy. It was uncomfortable, and the insertion felt like a really bad cramp for a second or two, but nothing I couldn't handle. Afterward, I bled constantly for 30+ days, heavy at first, but then a medium-light flow. After that, I didn't get my period for about 3 months. Then it returned, but it's now VERY light but WAY longer, about 10-14 days when it used to be 5-7. During my periods, I now don't have cramps, but a couple of days before, I get horribly painful random cramps that last 10-60ish seconds. Still not Prego though."

For Birth Control "So I got Liletta inserted about two years ago. Previously, I had the Skyla IUD. Removal of the old IUD and insertion of Liletta were honestly not bad. I had heard horror stories of the pain from friends, so I had mentally prepped for it to be awful, I think. It was obviously uncomfortable, but tolerable in my experience. The first 4-6 months with this thing were rough for me. Liletta is larger with a higher hormone dose than my prior IUD, so maybe that's why my body had so many issues. I actually went in for an ultrasound because I thought it was displaced. Turned out everything was normal. I had a lot of random bleeding and really bad cramping frequently. After about six months, these side effects subsided. Since then, it's been a lovely birth control. I don't have a period at all, don't get cramps, and won't get pregnant! What more can you ask for? It's FDA approved for six years, so I guess it was worth the first speed bump and six months of pain. I will say I think it has caused some acne."

For Birth Control "I had the Liletta IUD inserted in February 2019. I am happy to say that as of June 19, 2019, it has been removed. The insertion was slightly painful, and the removal was just a quick, sharp pain, which was tolerable. I experienced bleeding every day except two weeks from the time of insertion. The last 4 weeks were the worst. It is great birth control because you are bleeding so much you don't want to have sex. It did help with the excessive cramping I experienced during my menstrual cycle prior to the insertion. It took me from heavy bleeding once a month (prior to insertion) to spotting daily (after insertion), which went to brown, then red, then to light bleeding. The last straw was when I started bleeding daily for almost 4 weeks. Unfortunately, two days after removal, it is like I have started my period again with heavy bleeding and clotting. I am just glad it is out of there. Good luck, ladies!"

For Birth Control "So my insertion was August 2016. It was horrible. Everybody said it was gonna feel like a pinch and be over in 5 mins. The clamps that they used to extend your cervix hurt so much, and they were having a really hard time inserting the IUD. I had to take numerous breaks, I was in so much pain. I have multiple piercings, nipples being one, multiple tattoos, so pain isn't too much of a problem for me. After insertion that day, I had terrible cramps. I bled for 2.5 weeks. But 6 months later, I love it. My periods are super light if I get it at all. No pain. I can't feel it during sex, and I'm still not pregnant. I am noticing I am a little extra emotional, but it doesn't bother me."

For Birth Control "I got the Liletta placed April 5, 2017, it is now June 9th, and I am still bleeding. I didn't start bleeding till a week after insertion, which is what it takes for it to be effective, and I have been bleeding ever since. I got the Liletta to help with blood clots and heavy bleeding, and it has helped, but the heavy bleeding turned into constant bleeding. It is hot out, and pads and tampons are getting expensive."

For Birth Control "Update: I am still bleeding. This makes it 70 days straight. I have not gotten pregnant, so it definitely works, but it's not because of the device itself, but because of having a perpetual period = no sex."

For Birth Control "I've had the Liletta IUD for about 4 months now. When I first got it, I chose not to be put to sleep, and it hurt really bad and was a little traumatizing. I'm 4 months in and have no extra acne or weight gain. I've been bleeding most of the time I've had it, but they said that is normal for the first 3-6 months. I honestly think it's a great birth control for me, however, everyone is different."

For Birth Control "I'm 26, never had kids. My doctor proposed an IUD as an 'easier' alternative to a hysterectomy. Honestly? With the amount of pain and bleeding I have experienced, it would have been better to just get the hysto. The insertion was EXTREMELY painful. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but I was literally screaming with tears flowing down my face during insertion. I then had debilitating, truly debilitating cramps that 24/7 max dose ibuprofen couldn't ease. I was in bed from the pain for about 2 weeks. It's now been another 3 weeks (so about 5 weeks post-insertion), and the pain has subsided, but I have literally been bleeding nonstop since insertion. The constant pain and blood have made sex basically impossible. I'm also extremely exhausted and depressed. Liletta is wrecking my life. They say to wait 3 months to give your body time to adjust, but if things aren't way better by then, I'm just going to have this removed."

For Birth Control "Liletta is not great for me. I had it inserted months ago and have bled EVERY day since. The bleeding ranged from heavy to spotting, but there hasn’t been a day without blood. Also, I have random cramps all the time, abdominal and in my back. I feel bloated in my lower abdomen and I’m holding on to so much weight despite working out 5x a week and eating clean. I've also had bacterial vaginitis (BV) twice since getting it, and I’ve never had it before that. Wouldn’t recommend this to anyone."

For Birth Control "I got the Liletta in me in February 2016. It wasn't painful at all. I did bleed almost every day for a couple of months. The blood wasn't heavy, it was very light, but it was still annoying. I am now frustrated because every time I have sex, I start to bleed, which kills the mood. And sex is painful for my partner. If I exercise my abdominal area, I start to bleed as well. If I take a bath, I start to bleed. I'm tired of bleeding! This has to go!"

For Birth Control "I've never been on birth control, but decided to try Liletta since our insurance covers it. I got it inserted 8 weeks after having my daughter. Sex was painful for both my husband and me. We had to get the strings cut, and the IUD fell out and had to do it again. I've been bleeding for almost 6 months now, off and on. This birth control is very annoying."

For Birth Control "Had the Liletta IUD in for 2 1/2 months, and just this week I started getting horrible anxiety, and my body is so, so tired and leaves my head foggy from the tiredness. My muscles felt like I just ran or worked out, horrible pain from period cramps where I couldn’t move. I started bleeding from insertion for about 3 weeks, and then it stopped. Now, ever since I got my period again, I’m still bleeding. I’m on my 10th day of bleeding, and I’m still bleeding. I feel hopeless, having nightmares, and I just don’t feel like myself anymore. Hopefully, this all goes away after I have this thing removed ASAP!!"

For Birth Control "I hate it. I got mine on August 4th, 2017, what was supposed to be the last day of my period, and I've not stopped bleeding since. I'm going on almost 3 months of nonstop bleeding, my OB/GYN says this is normal for some women - well, I just want it out!"

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted at the end of June 2017. The procedure was quick, and I felt only a mild discomfort. I haven't had cramps, but for the first 4 months, I had continuous bleeding. It has finally subsided a bit, but my periods are very irregular. I never know when it's going to start. After sex, it definitely triggers a flow... which makes me want to not even have sex. Also, the worst part is that I am always hungry. I have gained at least 10 pounds. Depression has become a concern as well. I really want to have this taken out, but I don't know that any other birth control will fare any better as far as side effects."

For Birth Control "I got this IUD inserted immediately. My period started in October, it was so painful, but I guess I have a low pain threshold. Anyway, my only problem with this is I basically bled from the time I got it inserted, some days heavy, other days spotting, with cramps that I have never had before (and I have never had kids) till my next period. It was after that period that all cramps and spotting stopped. So far, so good. I think I am supposed to be having my period now, but I'm barely even spotting, I just have mild cramps. For the three months I have had it in, I can say minus the first rough month, I am really loving it... so convenient. And I haven’t gained any weight or had any acne problems. Aside from the occasional cramps, I wouldn’t even remember it's there."

For Birth Control "I've been on Liletta for a year now. If you never had children like me, you will find the process very painful. I had severe cramping for about an hour after insertion and slight bleeding over a couple of days. My periods are very light now, basically spotting, but they last longer. My acne has not changed; I still break out around the time of my period. And I feel like this IUD might be making me put on weight or not helping me to lose it. Overall, very effective to prevent pregnancy."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted 6 weeks after having my daughter. It's now been 3.5 months since insertion, and I've decided I don't like this IUD. I am tall and somewhat petite (typically 127 lbs at 5'9, weight gain was 27 lbs during pregnancy), and I have noticed that I am actually gaining back the weight I lost after the baby with this birth control. I am very cautious of what I eat and I exercise, I also intake very little carbs (I have a gluten allergy). I should be keeping weight off, however, I have gained 13 lbs since getting Liletta. I am also experiencing oily skin with acne (first time in my life), along with lower back pain, mild hair loss, and 2 months of consistent bleeding or spotting. I'll be making an appointment to get it removed tomorrow."

For Birth Control "So I got the Liletta about September 2016, and the insertion was super painful for me, during and after. I got out of the doctor and felt super lightheaded, and the cramps were terrible. I had to sleep for the rest of the day, my cramps literally lasted 3 days. I mainly got it because I have fibroids, so I needed something to make me bleed less. As I thought, the Liletta was supposed to give me less periods. Granted, my periods are lighter, before, my periods would last 6 days, but after I started this IUD, they last for two weeks! I barely have any time to get intimate because I'm always bleeding, and it's uncomfortable for me. I'm already going to have 6 months in, and I think I'm going to remove it. Everyone is different, but it's a no for me."

For Birth Control "Okay, so I got my Liletta 4 days ago. I've never had sex, never had birth control, and the only pain I had (which was really 75% discomfort) was the speculum and having to have my cervix widened/dilated. I didn't go on my period, and I went without any ibuprofen. Why? I really don't know, but regardless, still wasn't that bad. But I have a high pain tolerance, and everyone's body is different! Day 1: moderate cramps like usual, light bleeding. Day 2: spotting, slight discomfort. Day 3: slight discomfort, no cramps. Day 4: light 'one drop' spotting. Yeah, I would recommend this!"

For Birth Control "Got this IUD inserted February 2016, it's now July, still bleeding, very bad diarrhea, cramps, acne, weight gain, anxiety, and probably the WORST and most often migraines I've ever experienced in my life-like every other day I have bad headaches. Getting it removed this week, can't wait."

For Birth Control "So this is my 90-day review. I had my Liletta inserted 4/28/17. It took me a week to start bleeding after I got it installed, since then, I have yet to stop bleeding. It was heavy spotting for the first 2 months, and the past month it's been flowing like a river. I've been going through a pack of pads per day. I gained 13 lbs... after just 3 weeks. I've since lost the weight with diet and exercise. My biggest concern is the bleeding, I just want it to stop. I've also developed a cyst on my right ovary since taking this. I'm going to talk to my doctor about other birth control options. I will give it another month, but that's it."

For Birth Control "I got the Liletta inserted on October 3rd. I was expecting the insertion to be excruciating after reading tons of reviews, but it wasn't bad at all. It was definitely uncomfortable, but it was just mostly cramps, and I have a very low tolerance for pain. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate the insertion pain a 3. I did take 800 mg of ibuprofen and a muscle relaxer an hour before my appt. I've had pretty intense cramps off and on every day. My doctor prescribed tramadol, which I just started today. I take ibuprofen, and that helps a lot, as long as I take it before the pain is really bad. I bled every day, but it stopped 3 days ago. It was regular bleeding and then brown discharge, which is annoying. Overall, I think it will help me in the long run."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I had terrible menstrual cycles that were heavier than normal, but I mostly got it because of the common side effect of it stopping periods. Every month, I would have really bad menstrual cramps - I'd have to drop on the floor in a fetal position out of nowhere because it hurt so bad and was hoping birth control would help. Before my appointment, I had taken some ibuprofen because I heard that it was painful, and to be perfectly clear, it was. The pain was on a similar scale to my menstrual cramps and had some slight bleeding. That being said, the pain was quick and over with, the levels tamping down to slight pains for a couple of hours after my appointment. I had a regular period with lighter pain levels the first month, then I had some light spotting for the next 3. After that, my period stopped altogether. The only reason I give it a 9 out of 10 is because of the initial pain of insertion, slight weight gain, and some random cramping maybe once or twice a year. It's very worth it to me."
