For Birth Control "I'm not sure what other people experience months after the insertion, but I had my Liletta inserted in mid-November and I have bled or had spotting every day since insertion. I either have to use tampons or a pad depending on the day, but I can never go without one or the other. It is super effective as birth control for me, as I never want to have sex with my husband because of all the blood. I will be looking for an alternative birth control method."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted in January 2018 at Planned Parenthood. After insertion, I was bleeding for about 2 months. It was pretty heavy. Today, July 21, 2019, I still have it in me. I want it removed, following my gaining 30 lbs. This IUD gives me severe anxiety, depression, and agitation. I always feel tired, my legs get swollen, and I just randomly started spotting. I wonder if it moved its placement a bit. Scheduling an appointment to remove it."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta placed in February 2016. It was very painful. Heavy bleeding for two straight months. Then my period became lighter and regular. It is now October 2016. Eight months after having it placed, I found out I was six weeks pregnant with the IUD still in place. I got the IUD removed right away."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted in the fall of 2020 after I gave birth to my daughter. I didn’t really experience the pain that some describe, but I did spot bleed for quite some time in the beginning, and gradually my periods are gone, which was one of the main reasons I chose this birth control. However, I think this birth control has given me miserable side effects. I have lost all energy, my anxiety is 100 percent daily, and I constantly feel like something is wrong with me. I’ve gained over 50 pounds on this. For the longest time, I have been trying to figure out what’s wrong with me (I’ve always been a healthy person overall), and I’m coming to the conclusion that it’s this BC! I’m definitely making an appointment to get this removed and look at other options, this just isn’t the way of life!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Liletta for 5 years. I was 24 years old, 125 lbs. I'm 5'7. I'm 29 and 160 lbs now. Issues I've personally had are - having the IUD implanted hurt real bad for me. I literally almost fainted, I felt so awful when I left. I got to my car, I balled my eyes out - heavy cramps, bleeding for the next week - bleeding with some cramps for the next 3 months straight (not super heavy, just normal) - extreme nausea at night to the point I feel like I'm going to puke but never do (it's weird). Happened when I first got the implant, has kind of dissipated now I'm at year 5, but not much - bloating, fatigue - cramps got worse for me in the last 2 years, along with my periods coming back to actually bleeding vs. spotting - sex was rough for about 6 months - sexual partners stating they can feel it or it pokes them. It got rid of my sex drive for about 8 months - so far no babies, no close calls. I will close with this: if you can take something else that isn't as invasive or hard on your body as this, I highly suggest it."

For Birth Control "I've had Liletta for about 2 weeks, and I've had a great experience. I didn't take pain meds for the insertion. It hurt, but you can get through it. It only takes like 2 minutes, and then it's over. I had moderate/mild cramping for about 6 hours after. I just went home and went to bed. When I woke up in the morning, I had zero pain. I had mild bleeding for 2 days, but it's hard to tell if that was from the IUD or my normal period. My insurance covered it 100%, and now I don't have to worry about birth control for 3 years! I wanted to share my experience because I feel like a disproportionate amount of people writing reviews had bad experiences. Keep that in mind and don't let the reviews scare you. IUDs are awesome!"

For Birth Control "I had this Liletta birth control inserted about a week ago, and so far I have been bleeding nonstop with only a few breaks in between. Cramps are very strong here and there, but manageable too. The insertion is painful, but with deep breaths, you'll be fine. Intercourse is impossible at times because of the bleeding, however, I got a break and tried it, and my boyfriend couldn't feel the strings, so that's a plus. But I'll keep you updated with this experience."

For Birth Control "The Liletta insertion was okay, it took about six to eight weeks for my uterus to get used to it. There was mild bleeding and spotting during those few weeks, but aside from that, it's been great. I'm breaking out a little more, and my hair is growing darker, but those are mild inconveniences compared to the nightmare that was my heavy period."

For Birth Control "I got the Liletta put in May 2016. A little discomfort at the time of insertion. Light spotting and cramping the day after. Overall, for me and my husband, he doesn't feel a thing. I totally hate the spotting. Literally bleeding for 3 weeks. Then normal for 2. Maybe a little exaggerated on the 3 weeks. But I've figured out the process. 2 weeks of daily, consistent spotting. 1 week menses. Normal the week after menses and the week of ovulation. Trying to wait the 6 months. My doctor says it stops around that time. Wish me luck."

For Birth Control "Absolutely horrible. My hair is falling out, bloated all of the time. I had to start a pill to stop the constant bleeding, short temper, major depression. I have little control over my emotions now, cramping, acne. I've been losing bits of bloody skin, weight gain, and my anxiety has gotten 10 times worse. I'd never recommend this to anyone. I almost cried when the nurse told me that she couldn't get me in until next week. I don't know if I can handle this any longer, and I've only had it in for two months."

For Birth Control "I'm 19 (no kids), and I got this inserted because regular birth control pills were giving me extremely unhealthy side effects like blackout migraines where my vision would blur. The insertion was definitely painful, and I bled for several days after. My cramping was excruciating the first 2-3 days but settled afterward. I had occasional cramps for weeks that would hurt a lot but not unbearable. I still get my period, but it's very light, and I experience spotting a few days before my period and a few days after. However, I'm so happy I got an IUD rather than continuing to take pills. I think it's definitely worth it, and now, 3 months later, I barely experience any side effects. I still have occasional cramps during my period but not bad at all."

For Birth Control "Worst experience. Insertion took way too long and was so painful. My doctor had to cauterize me with silver nitrate to stop the bleeding. I was nauseous and dizzy for half an hour after. They did an ultrasound to be sure it was in place, it was. After a week with horrible cramping and bleeding, I went back in for a recheck. Another ultrasound showed it had rotated and was lodged in my uterus. Removed and will never have this IUD again. If I could give zero stars, I would."

For Birth Control "I had the insertion on April 19, 2017. As expected, the procedure was uncomfortable and caused some cramping that lasted for the day. I had been struggling with acne breakouts prior to getting the IUD, and the breakouts have definitely subsided. The only downside is that, almost 2 months later, I am still bleeding. Although it is light, still very inconvenient and annoying."

For Birth Control "Got my Liletta inserted today, 06/15/17, which happens to be the last day of my period. I will tell you that I went into this without ANY type of meds, and the insertion was awesome. I did feel a slight pinch a couple of times that felt like a cramp, but honestly, I barely noticed it. I was told the cervix is more dilated when on your period and is the best time to get an IUD... FYI. I did spot and bleed for about an hour after I had it done, minimal cramps though. Overall, this has been way better than I expected. I hope it all continues to be a breeze. I'll let you know in a couple of months."

For Birth Control "I have had the Mirena in the past for 4 years, had it removed, and successfully conceived my daughter just 4 months after removal. After I had my daughter, I decided I’d try the Nexplanon (implant in the arm). I had that for about 7 months, and no joke, I hated it! I bled for what seemed like the whole time, I was extremely moody, and gained about 20 pounds. So I decided to take it out, and at the same appointment, I agreed to get back on an IUD and decided on Liletta this time. I’m so thankful I did! I’ve had it for about 9 months now, and I love it! The bleeding from the Nexplanon stopped 24 hours after having it removed and having the Liletta placed, and I haven’t had any bleeding or spotting since! I have no mood swings, no cramping, lost the 20 pounds I gained, and my sex drive is great. The only side effect I do have is that my breasts are sometimes tender for a few days but only last a few days! I highly recommend Liletta."

For Birth Control "Had Liletta for 3.5 years, had it removed and replaced with Mirena as I had met the deductible for insurance this year. Liletta is pretty much the same as Mirena in terms of hormone release per day. 1st insertion - large dilator, cramps, bleeding for about 3 months - then - no more heavy cycles, improvement in cramps. No mood changes or weight changes and the best - no pregnancy scares. Then on to the replacement with Mirena - Liletta came out easily, few big cramps with dilators/insertion, all manageable with ibuprofen. I took the afternoon off from work to watch bad soaps with a heating pad. Back to the gym the following morning with no pain or cramps. Now I am good for 5 years with the most reliable contraception out there. Will never go back to the birth control pill with this available!"

For Birth Control "Liletta was effective. I didn’t get pregnant while I had it, but it wasn’t a good experience. Insertion wasn’t too bad, but my doctor told me to take some Tylenol before I came in. I spotted for the first 6 months in addition to my longer periods. One night, having sex, it must’ve moved. I had cramps off and on for a month, and sex hurt. I called the doctor; they were unconcerned because I could still feel my strings. I finally gave up, called to have it removed. Removal was fast and easy, but a day after I started to feel very tired, started bleeding very heavily with lots of clots. I’ve also gained 17 pounds over this last year. It is effective, but my expectations weren’t met: painful sex, lots of spotting, longer than normal periods, weight gain, headaches, and moodiness. Won’t ever use any IUD again."

For Birth Control "Insertion of Liletta was painful for a quick minute. Bled for a few days. Week 1 - couldn’t find strings. After bleeding stopped, I got nasty, smelly discharge. Called Planned Parenthood, they said take a probiotic. Ok? Week 2 - EXTREME cramps for a week straight, worse than insertion. Tender breasts, constipation, then diarrhea and vaginal bleeding whenever I had a BM? Couldn’t get hold of Planned Parenthood. Cramps stopped, and then I had HEAVY bleeding. Bled through a regular tampon in a half hour. Was bleeding nonstop 24/7 for 4 days after a full week of bleeding with cramps. Still couldn’t get hold of anyone to help me. This morning - (end of week 2) woke up, and the IUD had come out. Okay??? Cool, didn’t like you anyway. I’m more dissatisfied by how I was treated as a patient than I am with Liletta. I’m pretty sure it was misplaced and that’s why I had weird issues. Might try again with a different provider."

For Birth Control "I’ve had Liletta for 9 months now, and personally, I love it! No more periods, I don’t have to worry about getting pregnant, taking pills every day, or getting a shot. I am 22 (was 21 when I got it) and do not have any children. However, I would STRONGLY recommend taking some ibuprofen or some kind of pain meds before going to get it inserted. Not sure if it was because my cervix is tilted, or if it’s because I’ve never had children before... but I cried from the pain. After insertion, I had slight cramps and a little bleeding for a few days. But since then, no more periods!! Since about a week after getting it inserted, I can’t feel it, it’s like I don’t even have it! I have and will recommend this product!"

For Birth Control "I went on Liletta in July 2020, and honestly, I’ve had a pretty awful experience. I have since gotten 2 yeast infections, BV, and 2 UTIs. I have been bleeding nonstop since November, with usually 2 or 3 days of freedom before it starts again. I know this works for other women, but it’s been a really bad birth control for me. Upside: I’m not pregnant, lol. Disclaimer: I’ve tried like 5 different pills before this and had bad experiences with all of them as well. Could be a me thing :)"

For Birth Control "Soooo, I just gave birth this year in January. This is my third child. Before I wore Liletta, I used to have Mirena, which I was really requesting, but apparently my OB office didn’t carry it. Anyways, I’ve had the Liletta since April of this year 2019. Here I am in December 2019, here are some things I don’t like about it. When the doc put it on me, I bled. It gave me cramps for a couple of days; worst of all, I hated it. I was on my period for a good 2-3 months. I kept calling almost every other week requesting to take it out, but the NP kept insisting that I give it more time. Finally, the bleeding stopped. Until now, I hate it more. From my last 2 pregnancies, I was able to go back to my regular size, which was around 115-120 at the most. Now I am literally at 140-145; the heaviest I’ve ever been in my life. No matter what kind of diet I change or eat so little sometimes, just eating 1x a day, my weight doesn’t change. With that being said, I am really considering going in and removing it."

For Birth Control "I got the Liletta IUD inserted 3 months ago to this date, and over that time period, I have felt my mood become destroyed. At first, I was just a little moody and irritable, but now I am so uncontrollably anxious and depressed I can't really function like normal. Panic attacks out of nowhere (which I never used to have), and just some really dark thoughts that make me feel crazy. This is not like me at all. I am normally so upbeat and happy, and this has just made me a mess. Some weeks I would feel fine, so I would convince myself, 'oh, it's just something else that's causing this anxiety.' But on month three, I feel so far from my normal mental state. My sex drive was all over the place, and the bleeding was almost nonstop for the first two months. But that is nothing compared to the way it has mentally affected me. If you are sensitive to drugs at all, you should not get this IUD."

For Birth Control "I’ve had the Liletta for about 5 days now. The insertion was not what I expected, it was really painful, and I had bleeding for 2 days, which is all normal. Also, I instantly got a UTI after it was inserted, and it still has not eased up or gone away with medication. My cervix hurts. It feels swollen and just uncomfortable. I got this a year after my son was born, I’ve never been on birth control before. I’m calling tomorrow to get it removed, especially after reading some of these comments. I’ve already started breaking out, and my stomach is so bloated every night. I’m not waiting around for any of the other symptoms to start. I don’t know how else to explain it other than my body just feels weird and uncomfortable. I want it out. The only plus side is not having to worry about popping up pregnant, but it doesn’t outweigh the worry of what it’s actually doing to my body. This is just not natural, and I don’t like it."

For Birth Control "Normally I have a 3-5 day flow with cramps/back pain for 2 days. After a pregnancy scare, I decided to get this IUD put in. Insertion was a bit more painful than I anticipated, and I had some bleeding for a day or two. I'm now on my first period with it, and I've been having some form of bleeding for 10 days now. I am extremely frustrated. I did read that periods may be heavier/irregular for the first 3-4 months. I suppose I mentally anticipated a heavier flow rather than a normal/lighter flow for a longer period of time. I would much prefer the former. I have cramps every day now for about an hour or two, and even when the flow darkens I get cramps and back to bright red blood. It feels like I'll have my period forever. Will update."

For Birth Control "I have had no prior birth control for 10 years. I have 3 kids. Done. Asked my doc for advice on a permanent solution. He gave me Liletta. I've been bleeding ever since. 8 weeks now. That's right, 56 days in a row of 6-8 saturated tampons!! This is the worst decision I could have ever made. Best birth control. Who wants to have sex while they are bleeding profusely??!! Clearly, not what I was wanting. I'd rather risk another pregnancy than keep bleeding like this. Postpartum was 4 weeks of bleeding/spotting at worst. My periods were 30-35 days in between. Now it's a freaking blood bath of 50+ days straight. I'm done. This thing is coming out tomorrow."
