For Major Depressive Disorder "I was diagnosed with depression when I was 14 years old. Now that I'm 22, I decided to take control. I was basically a guinea pig by trying all sorts of different medicines to help me feel better. I was just recently diagnosed with anxiety and also PTSD. I started to talk to my doctor after my episode, and she put me on Fetzima. At first, when I started it, it made me sick and nauseous, and I was constantly so tired. She helped level the medicine out and put me on Wellbutrin to help keep me less tired. With these medicines, I have been on them for 2 months, and I can honestly say I feel normal again. I still have negative thoughts, but they only last a few seconds. I love Fetzima. It has seriously changed my life for the better."

For Major Depressive Disorder "My experience with Fetzima has been terrible. I have never had so many side effects in my life with a medication. At 20 milligrams, I felt a little sick to my stomach. After two days, the Dr. told me to increase to 40. I felt more sick and then got a bad headache. The pharmacist said this should go away after a couple of weeks. In about a week, I started throwing up and sweating along with the headache. My doctor told me to reduce the milligrams to 20 again. I didn't feel any better. Now I have gone off it after 2 weeks and 3 days. It's been another 4 days, and I'm still deathly ill. Hopefully this will go away soon. The medication started to help the depression and anxiety, but I can't live with the side effects."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Mixed feelings. Took a while for Fetzima to take effect, I was very nauseous. It helped some with moving on from anxiety, and I didn't have the bad nightmares I had on other medication (my sleep has actually been really excellent). I felt more motivated and stable on good days. As for depression, it helped some. It's hard to say as it's 2020 and I've had physical health issues. Main concern: it might have caused elevated heart rate/abnormal BP I experienced on the dose of 80 mg. This may be due to my thyroid disease. I am switching off of it due to this and concerns of how expensive it is. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have good insurance and check the cost of the co-pay. I didn't have the huge appetite that I've experienced on other meds. I think side effects were limited. I'd consider going back on this in the future if it weren't for the $ and worries about tachycardia. It's definitely better than many I've tried-that list is ever approaching 30. Good luck to everyone with med change in this pandemic!"

For Depression "Was on 20 mg for about 6-8 weeks. It worked really well with my anxiety, but I stopped it because of the sexual side effects and insomnia. It’s been over a month, and I still feel the medicine’s effects on me (positive and negative), along with discontinuation symptoms (can’t sleep, nausea, headaches, shaking). It’s truly awful, and I don't know when I am going to be back to normal."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Developed a condition of depressive ice disorder that I couldn't even get out of bed - odd for a type A person of high activity, but doctors decided it was a form of norepinephrine depression related to a high dose and bad reaction to fludrocortisone. I had to take Fetzima, which was the only medicine of 13 tried to have sufficient efficacy. It was truly amazing that a chemical imbalance can result in this inertia. However... early on, jitteriness, nausea, insomnia, irritability, and lower anxiety threshold made me wonder if this was a good decision.... After 9 months, efficacy there - good enough for me to do the heavy lifting to get myself into new habits, new social situations, etc. Irritability itself waned, sleep problems continued, causing more problems."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've been on this medication for approx a month now. Sleeping a bit better, thoughts are a bit clearer, but I feel so angry and aggressive. Anxiety is through the roof, and it's making my home/work life a pure nightmare. I feel nauseous most mornings, and a couple of times my chest became very tight with excessive sweating. It's early, but so far not impressed at all."

For Depression "I started taking this medication two days ago and have already had a severe reaction to it. I am having severe panic attacks, nausea, body pain, headaches, and I keep uncontrollably crying. It seems as if these are very common side effects, and I am basically a walking zombie. I have no emotion, no feeling, and can’t think straight. I wouldn’t recommend this medication to anyone."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I'm not sure about Fetzima's effectiveness, as I'm on day four of treatment. As for side effects, I noticed that I started sweating more on day 3 (40 mg), a lack of appetite, and some minor nausea. Occasionally, I'll get anxious, but I'm not sure if it's specific to the Fetzima or my general anxiety."

For Depression "I've taken several different SSRIs and SNRIs. This medication is the worst I have ever taken. It makes me feel worse than I felt before I started taking anything at all - sweating, hot flashes, my mouth constantly tastes like I drank salt water, constipation, bloated, nausea, exhausted. You name it. EXTREME RAGE! Stay away from this med. It's a scary thing."

For Major Depressive Disorder "The worst drug I have ever taken, and I have taken at least 50. Caused extreme anger/rage outbursts over simple things. It jacked my heart up 45 beats, I was having serious AFib. Not to mention, after four years, I have never experienced a drug this physically addicting. More physical and intense withdrawals than coming off Benzos, by far intense stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, migraine, dizzy, just feel horrible, and this is a taper. This medicine turned me into a very scary human being, and discontinuing it is just as scary. Don't take this medicine, if you do, be prepared to deal with insane rage."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I was prescribed Fetzima 20 mg ER yesterday. I have only taken one pill and will never take one again. I had a heavy onset of 'highness' or 'altered perception' 30 minutes after taking it (took at 12 pm). I was really happy for two hours, then the nausea, headache, and panic kicked in. I violently threw up, almost went to the ER because I couldn't breathe from throwing up. Constant stomach pain and inability to eat. Hypertension. I finally fell asleep at 3 am to be up at 7 am with heart racing and feeling wired again. It's 3 pm, and I feel like I've had a bad trip on a drug. Never again."

For Depression "Where do I begin? I’ve exhausted almost all of my options for approved antidepressants in Canada, with my fair share of negative and positive experiences. Fetzima is the second worst I’ve ever taken, right above Moclobemide. After only a couple of days, I had the worst headache of my life, felt like my brain was in a hydraulic press, couldn’t even open my eyes. This lasted four more days until I stopped taking this medication. I experienced nausea, but not as bad as some other reviews state. I experienced the body tingling, although this wasn’t too bothersome. I experienced heart palpitations accompanied by chest pain. There is a disabling brain fog that comes with this medication, it certainly numbs your severe emotions, but leaves you with a miserable feeling of apathetic melancholy. I also experienced ear popping and severe sinus irritation, although I’m unsure if this was related to the medication. Not even close to being worth a try for me, but everyone is different."
