Leuprolide for Prostate Cancer "Been on Lupron now for 3 1/2 years. I’m 84 years old with metastatic prostate cancer. Lupron did take my PSA from 196 to almost zero. However, I have all the side effects… fatigue, hot flashes, ED, and a 13-pound weight gain around the middle. I’m alive but have very little quality of life. There are new studies showing that very high doses of testosterone (I know it sounds crazy) have been shown to reverse the cancer and give men a much better quality of life. I’m going for a new treatment soon as the Lupron is starting to fail as my PSA is creeping up. My advice is if you can avoid Lupron, do it at all costs. Your life will change with the first shot."

Leuprolide for Endometriosis "Within one week of starting Depot Lupron, I was struck with severe headaches and fatigue. Muscle and joint pain set in, and sleep became impossible. I have had no relief from my endometriosis pain. Pelvic pain is daily and constant. Dull aches in my lower abdomen and sharp shooting pain through my colon. Even with add-back therapy, I have had hot flashes and severe waves of nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. I wish I had never gotten it. This is the second time my doctor has put me on this 'medication' with zero results or relief from my symptoms. I only feel worse. It has made me and my relationship suffer. It's not worth it."

Leuprolide "I was given Lupron depo for my endometriosis. My husband and I had been having issues having a baby. I was supposed to have 3 shots total. After the first shot, it wrecked me. It messed with my bowels, my period was more painful than ever, body pain, insomnia, and extreme fatigue, one night I had to call 911. My skin was burning from the inside out, and my heart started racing to the point where I could barely breathe, and my heart was palpitating. I refused the next 2 shots. Since then, I've continued to have bone and joint pain, fuzziness, I can't retain thoughts or remember simple words. My teeth became really sensitive. It caused nothing but hardship."

Leuprolide for Endometriosis "I just started the Lupron shot, and so far it's helping, but it's also come along with hot flashes, dizziness, prolonged QT heart interval (I already have the heart problem, but it is amplifying it), body pain which is slowly going down, brain fog, insomnia, fatigue, inability to breathe, and is making some of my connective tissue symptoms worse. I'm hoping at least some of these symptoms go away. If they do, I will continue the monthly shots since the endo symptoms are getting better (headache, bowel issues, insane amount of bleeding every month, and debilitating pain)."

Leuprolide for Prostate Cancer "Tried Lupron Depot every 3 months two times, but severe fatigue, occasional dizziness, and passed out. Side effects were not acceptable to me. Orgovyx + Xtandi is much better. Although, without testosterone: fatigue, no erection, lack of enthusiasm, and weight gain."

Leuprolide for Prostate Cancer "Some hot flashes for short periods when thinking hard and only for maybe 2 or 3 minutes. Zero sex drive. Maybe joint pain. Maybe less energy. PSA at 0.25 after 3 or 4 months. There is some merit in not wanting to have sex often for that has been cured."

Leuprolide for Prostate Cancer "Given all the things that testosterone regulates in the male body, none of the side effects are unexpected. My blood work indicates that it’s working. The hot flashes, weight gain, fatigue, and mild vertigo (among other side effects) subsided in a few months, just in time for the next every-four-month injection."

Leuprolide "I've only been taking this medicine for 7 months, so it might be too soon for me to tell if it's working. I guess if the cancer doesn't come back, then it's doing its job. I have noticed the relentless fatigue I'm experiencing."

Leuprolide for Prostate Cancer "The 7 months of treatment I am on, along with 9 weeks of radiation, appears to be working well. My PSA (with stage 3 prostate cancer) went from 7+ to 0.05. That said, I am fighting brain fog, fatigue, slight weight gain, loss of sexual interest, nearly chronic dry cough, general itching, and joint and muscle pain. Looking forward to the product wearing off starting around 6 weeks from now. Strongly recommend resistance exercise, it helps a great deal!"

For Prostate Cancer "I was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer-non-metastatic-in July 2019, with a Gleason score of 9, 8, and 7. Began Elegard/Lupron in August 2019, 2 months prior to 45 days of radiation, and have continued on a 4-month regimen of Lupron injections. During the first year on this drug, I had the basic side effects of hot flashes, chills, mood swings, and some aches. Now going into the second year on Lupron, I have severe side effects with a lump on my left knee with severe swelling with overuse; pain in my hips and shoulders that come and go; tingling and numbness in my hands that wake me up at night; ringing in my ears; fatigue; and I have lost the ability to use my right thumb that comes and goes like severe arthritis. I was previously a very calm and caring person, but now I become angry and have high-risk behaviors, not caring if I get into an argument with someone, which I try to control. I used to be an avid runner but cannot do this anymore due to severe pain and swelling in my left leg."

Leuprolide for Prostate Cancer "76YO. Got Bicalutamide pills and a Lupron shot twice before my 'High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)' operation to kill my prostate in 2019. Fatigue was my worst side effect. Did serious and intense Max Gerson Cancer Protocol therapy for three years. Totally off alcohol and mostly vegetarian. Mostly no carbs. Lost twenty pounds. When PSA started creeping up, my urologist put me on strictly Bicalutamide pills once a day (50mg). Negligible PSA for almost two years until tender breast and some enlargement took me off it. Been off for six months and back to normal in every way, including testosterone. PSA is creeping up again, and I think I will go back to the pills but only once or twice a week and see how my PSA does. I get the PSA checked every other month. I feel very good."

Leuprolide for Prostate Cancer "Have been getting 3-month injections of this for 4 cycles. Also had Docetaxel and Nubeqa. Apart from low energy, I have had no side effects from any of these drugs. I mean nothing. Low and lowering testosterone and PSA. I do not expect prostate cancer treatment to leave my sexual function unchanged. I am nearly 79 years of age. Eligard seems to be working and is causing me no ill issues."

Leuprolide for Prostate Cancer "I have had a prostatectomy followed by biochemical recurrence, and my physician recommended one year of Lupron Depot and 45 sessions of external beam radiation, provided simultaneously. I selected the 3-month injection due to reports of possibly fewer side effects. I am nearly finished with my first 3-month Lupron injection and only have 15 more radiation sessions. Side effects from Lupron have been extremely minimal. I had no injection site reaction or pain. I experienced body heat at times, especially when sleeping, but it has been minimal. I just have to remove my sweatshirt or uncover in bed. I do keep my bedroom cooler, and this helps. I have been dizzy but had dizziness before the Lupron or external beam radiation upon getting up from a seated position. Walking required me to slow down due to mild dizziness. I work out daily with free weights, 100 crunches, and 20-30 minutes on a stationary bike, and I firmly believe that this has helped. I had fatigue with exercise for the first week."

Leuprolide for Prostate Cancer "I have been on Lupron for 16 (of scheduled 18 months) to help suppress the return of prostate cancer. So far, the cancer is resolved. The side effects for me have been tiredness, mild depression, leg weakness and mild leg pain, mental fog, weakened memory, diminished thought clarity, significant muscle reduction, and lack of energy. Also, occasional diarrhea. Use was probably effective as cancer has not returned."

Leuprolide for Prostate Cancer "I'm 74, and I've been fighting prostate cancer for 8 years: radical prostatectomy, then heavy doses of radiation when the cancer returned the first time. Then another round of radiation when the cancer returned again. Last week, I started hormone therapy (Eligard), and I can barely get out of bed, I am so fatigued. Can anyone tell me if the fatigue situation improves with time? No way I can live with this for very long. Thanks."

For Endometriosis "Started this medication 9 months ago for a large endometrioma found during exploratory lap surgery for the pain from this. So far, I've been profusely sweating and fatigued. It was supposed to stop my period, it hasn't. Pain is still there, don't think it's working for me. I have lost over 20 lbs, but it's hard work: diet and exercise. So, it is possible to lose weight on it, or at least not gain. Not rating this high because, for me, the side effects outweigh what might be some relief, not enough to warrant going on it again. I've already had one endometrioma removed many years ago. They don't want to remove this one because it's huge and will leave a large space, might end up with a bad hernia. Would have been nice if they would have figured it out sooner."

Leuprolide for Prostate Cancer "I was diagnosed with high-risk prostate cancer. I opted for complete removal of the prostate and follow-up treatment of ADT and radiation treatment. My first injection was June 2023, and the second was January 2024. PSA test every three months since the first injection, and PSA was 0.00. I experienced many of the normal side effects from the Lupron injections, the worst has been the fatigue, joint pain, sweats, and hot flashes. It has been almost a year since my last injection. I still have some lingering side effects, with the worst and most often the sweats and hot flashes."
