For Rheumatoid Arthritis "On a leflunomide daily dosage of 20 mg. It caused chronic GI upset: diarrhea and gastritis. It did relieve RA symptoms, but I felt sick for 8 months. Endoscopy revealed gastritis. I would not recommend this drug."

"In retrospect, I found out it wasn't even standard practice to prescribe Arava for my disease because I don't have arthritis (I have IgA vasculitis). But anyway, the rheumatologist I saw at the time in 2018 already put me through plaquenil, prednisone, and methotrexate before deciding to prescribe Arava. Oh man, did that cause some pretty bad IBS and explosive diarrhea. So I only took it for a month before I had to quit from side effects. Ironically, afterwards though, I was in remission for almost a year (as in symptom- and medication-free) before symptoms slowly started coming back in 2020. Now I'm in much better care with a different provider, but my current medications (colchicine, lisinopril) only suppress the symptoms, with me still feeling unwell, probably due to smoldering disease activity. Sometimes I almost wonder if not for the intolerable side effects, whether another short-term course of Arava could be more effective. But it's hard to say, and probably not worth taking over newer meds available."

For Psoriatic Arthritis "Serum-negative RA diagnosis. Swollen joints and tendons, fatigue, headache, brain fog. 20 mg/day. The API is well tolerated, no diarrhea, no GI issues. Increased blood pressure. Started to have efficacy after 3 weeks. Works well. Have scalp issues not resolved yet (50% hair drop, red painful bumps not folliculitis, white scale, just started meds.)"
