For Anxiety "Great for unclogging your nose, horrible for anxiety. It made mine bad enough on several occasions that I ended up in the ER. It also gave me dangerously low blood pressure, heart palpitations, hallucinations, and an overall terrified feeling. I wouldn't recommend this at all for anxiety."

For Anxiety "30 years ago in my first marriage. I was severely abused. I was trying to commit suicide, always fighting, crying, and hallucinating. My doctor put me on Vistaril, and it changed my life. First, it made me not care about what my ex-husband was doing. I became more confident and was able to get myself out of that situation. Now I have been prescribed it again due to surgery, and I am planning on replacing my citalopram, loratadine, and hopefully, with God on my side, grasp at a better future."

For Anxiety "Horrible medication! Was given this antihistamine for anxiety. It gave me hallucinations and nightmares about people dying and cartoon animals trying to kill me. The feeling didn't go away the next day. It took me two days to get it out of my system. Worst medication ever!!!!"

For Anxiety "I took this at bedtime to help my anxiety. I started sleeping less and less, increased panic attacks, weight loss, and paranoia. I felt like a meth addict. After about a month, I realized it was the meds and I wasn't going crazy! Don't take this stuff, it was seriously terrifying!"

For Allergies "My son, who is 33, was given Vistaril after going to the emergency room with an autoimmune rash that was flaring up. He was told to take one to two 25 mg capsules every 6 hours as needed for itching. He began acting very strange. I worked, so I was being told of his behavior by his brother and stepdad. I told him to stop taking it, then I took the pills away and flushed them. I counted them, and in the 6 days he had them, he only took 5 pills. This is what Vistaril did for him: it caused visual and auditory hallucinations, severe paranoid anxiety, extreme dry mouth, tremors, stuttering, and many other things. He thought everyone was trying to kill him, everyone he looked at had rivers of tears running down their face. It is killing me hearing all of it. He’s been very traumatized. Hopefully, he will be able to feel better soon."

For Anxiety "My mother has cancer. With that, she has anxiety. The doctor prescribed her Vistaril 25 mg. Granted, it kind of helps anxiety, but it contributes to hallucinations. When I leave her off of it, she has anxiety. When she takes it, her dreams are vividly real. Weigh your options or decrease the dosage, but if a loved one is taking this medication before a mental diagnosis, try replacing or removing this drug for at least 48 hours."
