For Anxiety "Wasn't sure how to rate this for skin allergy or anxiety/stress, as the skin allergy was subsequently caused by anxiety/stress. Originally, the allergy was caused by amoxicillin. Itching was so intense, I was digging into my skin with anything I could find to bring relief. The doctor told me to take Benadryl - no help - then prednisone - no help. Almost 2 weeks later, I woke up feeling like I was covered by thousands of fire ants and went to the ER. I am on disability for anxiety and panic attacks and take Ativan 2 mgs 4x a day, but evidently, this skin allergy was controlling my life! One pill not only totally calmed me down, but I have not itched in 24 hours and slept 14 hours straight. Plan to talk to the doctor about keeping this as a when-required medicine for emergency anxiety/panic attacks."

For Anxiety "I take it often since I have anxiety a lot at school, but now I have been very itchy and have had a loss of appetite. It doesn't work that well for anxiety, and these side effects are horrible. (It's as needed.)"

For Sedation "I took this for the first and last time (hopefully) on July 9 when I was having an Ativan withdrawal. I had constant panic attacks, fits of rage, impulsive violent behavior, and this behavior also happened in the waiting room of the hospital, so they wheeled me back to a room, and I hysterically demanded Ativan, and they told me they didn’t have any (I knew that was a damn lie), so they gave me hydroxyzine. I never took it before, but I was desperate to calm down, so I took it, and within 10 minutes, I was calm, relaxed, and extremely sleepy. The only difference is I was extremely itchy on this, and I complained to my nurse, but she said it stops itching, but it did the opposite for me. It made me even more paranoid and made me nauseous, so eventually, I fell asleep, and when I woke up, I still felt groggy and clumsy. I think I will stick to Ativan and Xanax, never trying new drugs."

For Allergic Urticaria "I can't believe my doctor did this to me. I kept talking about how I hated the drowsy feeling that I had all day if I had to take Benadryl at night because of my eczema-induced hives. Three Benadryl didn't do to me what this stuff did. I took it last night because I was starting to get a little itchy, and I've been a stinkin' zombie all day! I have slept my whole Saturday away! I am so furious that I put the pills into the garbage disposal and will be changing doctors. Why don't they listen instead of pretending to listen? Don't take this stuff, definitely don't drive for several days after you've taken it! I've been taking several Allegra at a time, and it's taken away the itching, and I've been willing and able to complete daily tasks."

For Sedation "Hydroxyzine doesn't do anything. I'll take up to 100 mg and still be up all night. It's terrible and is only good for allergic reactions or itchiness."

Hydroxyzine for Allergies "This medicine had the exact reaction for me that I was being treated for - it made me itch on my neck. I feel like I can't contain myself. Did anyone else have this problem?"
