For Endometriosis "I was diagnosed with endometriosis at 19. I am now 43 and have had 2 laps with laser. My gynecologist told me I would never have children, but I went on to have 3 boys. I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago, oophorectomy with cyst 2 years ago, and a second oophorectomy with cyst 1 year ago - 3 operations in the last 3 years! I wanted a total hysterectomy, but my obstetrician refused. My endo is worse than ever. Please think twice before having a hysterectomy because, like in my case, it doesn't cure endo. I now have severe endo all over my bowel and it's still growing. They refuse to operate anymore due to the number of operations I've had. I am now trying Zoladex. The depression and mood swings are really bad. The worst part of endo is that it's an 'invisible' illness. I feel like no one cares because your leg isn't falling off or you don't have a plaster cast anywhere."

For Endometriosis "Brittle nails, hair loss, severe depression, memory problems, difficulty concentrating, skin rash, hot flushes, sleepless nights, short temperament, intolerance to alcohol, joint pains, nausea, fatigue, IBS, low libido, painful sex... This drug compromised my mental well-being for a few months of pain relief, it cost me my relationship and almost my job, not worth it at all!"

For Endometriosis "The horrible side effects (even with HRT) were not worth it. The hot flashes, joint pain, mood swings, depression, and long-term effects on my bones were NOT worth it. I really wish doctors would stop trying to give me this as it only does harm. Endometriosis can only be helped by excision by a skilled surgeon and will only last for up to a few years. Please stop getting doctors to postpone proper treatment with this."

"I was prescribed Zoladex to help stop the growth of my fibroid, it did just that. However, I was thrown into menopause at 21 years old, which is far too young to be experiencing such symptoms. It was awful: the sweating, the irritability, the weight gain, which I’m still, to this day, having so much trouble losing. I stopped Zoladex twice, the first time my period returned within three months, the second time stopping Zoladex, my period still hasn’t returned, and it’s been six months after my last injection. Still to this day, I’m irritable, and I believe Zoladex has made my depression far worse than it was before starting it. There is a chance my periods won’t return, which is devastating as I am still very young. I would go as far as to say Zoladex has ruined my life. I do not feel the same person as I was before taking it."

For Endometriosis "I was given a 3-month injection with terrible side effects culminating in night sweats every 40 minutes, shivers, difficulties in breathing, headaches, neck pain, and eventually severe depression. The side effects started showing at week four. I had never experienced depression prior to this. After 6 months, sufficient levels of the medicine remain in my system to continue affecting me. Other medication (Provera) prescribed by my gynecologist to counter those symptoms have given me some relief, although it took 3 weeks for that to occur, rather than the 4 days expected."

For Endometriosis "I have severe endometriosis and multiple, persistent fibroids and have had two courses of Zoladex - one for 6 months in the run-up to an operation. The other was meant to be for 4 months, but I only managed three. I found the side effects too much to cope with: hot flushes, joint pain, depression, anger, tearfulness, hair loss, insomnia, appetite changes... I already have a lot of joint and body pain due to other health problems, which may be one reason why I found it hard to cope. For me, the worst thing is the low mood, which isn’t helped by the insomnia. I hope I never have to take this drug again. For me, it was a terrible experience."

For Bleeding Disorder "I’m 40 and have no children. I was suffering abnormal bleeding due to fibroids, but no pain. I was losing so much blood, I had been rushed into the hospital on several occasions. The bleeding caused me to suffer severe anemia. I was really happy when Zoladex was suggested, as it meant I didn’t have to have a hysterectomy. Unfortunately, my experience was not good. I had my first injection, and about 2 weeks in, I was having cluster headaches, depression, my whole body ached, I was getting confused, the hot sweats were unbearable, I put nearly 2 stone on, and I was an emotional wreck. I still had the second injection and was taking HRT to help, but the Zoladex was taking over. The gynecologist had then told me not to have the 3rd. My last one was 7 weeks ago, but I’m feeling so much better already. I would never have Zoladex again. I’m booked in for a hysterectomy now and can’t wait for it all to be over so I can get back to being myself. I would never take Zoladex again."

For Endometriosis "Have been on Zoladex once a month injections for a year now. Awful side effects for the first 8 months. Terrible joint pain, hot flushes, bowel habit changes, bad mood swings, complete lack of sex drive, depression that drove me to contemplate my place on earth, lethargy. Also, massive weight gain... over 2 stones. The plus is I now am free from periods and the horrific pain I endured. Prior to Zoladex, I had an ablation where they burned off my womb lining. This was unsuccessful. Make your choice as the side effects are really awful, but the pain I suffered was so life limiting. I would be screaming out in pain, unable to move a muscle. Now I am pain free."

For Prostate Cancer "I was suffering from anxiety/depression before I took the once-only 10.5 Zoladex jab (pre-op) and felt even more depressed after the injection. Luckily, I don't have to take it anymore. I've also had terrible pain in my knees and insomnia. Only take it if you have to and remember that the side effects are only temporary."

For Bleeding Disorder "The Zoladex injection has been my only savior. I am now 24, I was put on the drug to initially ‘reset’ my reproductive system to see if it could stop my excessive unexplained bleeding, but once coming off Zoladex last year for 6 months, the same pattern emerged. I have now had over 20 Zoladex injections with the intention of continuing this until I have children. I have been lucky in the sense that I have regained my life in being able to participate in normal experiences without worrying about bleeding everywhere. I’ve experienced some of the side effects, including hot flushes, weight gain, headaches, and bone pain, which comes and then goes just as quickly (besides the weight, sadly). Depression is definitely something I have mildly developed since being on the drug, but the continuous bleeding was leading me down that path anyway!"

For Bleeding Disorder "Years of heavy bleeding. It got to the point of me collapsing in a pool of blood and being rushed into the hospital a few times on blood transfusions. Fibroids were the cause. I started on Zoladex in August 2020, only one positive is no bleeding. I can go on forever with the list of negatives. Depression, looking 9 months pregnant for the last 9 months even though I'm not. Hot sweats that are so bad at night that I sleep with a fan on full and cut off my long hair to cope. I have itchy, lumpy skin all over. Feeling tired, no infection, exhausted, due to my 10th Zoladex and still waiting for a full hysterectomy. Apparently the list is long, I'm on category 2, which is urgent. I can't see an end to this nightmare. I am hoping for surgery soon and to get my slim body back and live life again."

For Endometriosis "I was diagnosed with adenomyosis. My period pain was so bad. My doctor suggested Zoladex. I am approaching my 4th injection of 6. I am currently experiencing mood swings, nausea, and I am depressed. I lost weight as well. I am trying to eat better. I don't have much of a sex drive either. I honestly just want to get to the end and hopefully that all I have been through was worth it. I pray I never have to go through this again. Currently, Gravol is my friend."

For Endometriosis "Diagnosed at 29, Zoladex for 6 months. Endo pain only subsided since you do not get periods while taking this drug. However, I experienced terrible inflammation and water weight gain, my clothes stopped fitting after the second injection. I work out and eat healthy, mind you. I am constantly fatigued and lack motivation. Brain fog is real on this drug. The hot flashes are so miserable, couple it with the insomnia and it has been a miserable 5 months. The cellulite and weight gain have been the hardest for me since I am into fitness. I feel like I’m in someone else’s body. I get headaches daily and usually suffer a migraine within 24 hours of a dosed injection. I’m on my last dose and I’m hoping after I can get back to my normal self. I dealt with sciatic pain with the endo, it’s not as bad but still around. I’m still trying to figure out if this treatment has been worth it. We shall see by April."

For Endometriosis "So I have been struggling with endometriosis since I was 16 years of age and have had the “invisible” disease that was left undiagnosed with endometriosis. I have been suffering for years and have really been on so many trials, Zoladex was my last resort. I have only been on it once and there is still severe clotting, heavy bleeding, painful cramps that never go away, and it’s constantly me crying in a ball. If anything, I’m not going back on this again, I know I’ve only had it once, but it’s not helping me at all. I’ve had no morphine to help, no laparoscopy that would help. I have been trembling and crying since last week, been feeling nauseous, angered, tearful, depressed, change of appetite, and as someone who has such a short temper, it makes my temper worse."
