For Anxiety and Stress "Took it for about five days and haven't been able to eat or sleep. Had pain in my chest, so I stopped taking it this morning, and I've had an extremely high heart rate all day. Doctors were worried, but the ECG looked okay, they said. I still had racing thoughts and anxiety. Just didn't work for me."

For Anxiety and Stress "Even though my suicidal thoughts have decreased, I find I actually have panic attacks more than I did before I was on fluoxetine. I suffer with headaches worse than before, and I’ve lost a lot of motivation to do things from time to time. I am also a binge eater, and being on the fluoxetine has helped me lose 3 stone from not having much of an appetite. Guess my experience is a bit confusing, but when I weigh out the pros and cons. This is just a short list of my side effects, some good, some bad. I’m better on them compared to being off of them."

For Depression "I was on and off Fluoxetine for about 3 years. It worked for me initially, but eventually just didn’t really have any benefit on my mental health. On top of that, the initial side effects weren’t fun. I was super skinny to begin with because I was so depressed and anxious that I felt sick even thinking about eating anything - Fluoxetine made it worse. It is known to initially decrease your appetite, so not a good option for someone who is already underweight. It also made me feel nauseous, and my depression did get worse for maybe the first two weeks. That being said, all antidepressants come with side effects. I just don’t believe this particular one was the right fit for me."

For Anxiety and Stress "I have been on this for 3 and a half weeks, and I will be going back to my old meds. It hadn't helped with my anxiety, it has made it worse. I have been waking up in the middle of my sleep with anxiety attacks the last 3 nights. I can't get through a meal without gagging on my food (something I have never done before), and my appetite has completely gone. I have had more anxiety attacks than my old meds."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I started taking Prozac in 1993. I actually was suicidal and depressed in 1972, but the kind of treatment prescribed was to see a shrink, which I didn't talk to. I tried to kill myself (unsuccessfully) many times. I just didn't want to live anymore, a very terribly sad feeling of not belonging, even in family gatherings. In 1993, I started 20 mg of Prozac, the first week was great...I was very energetic, and I didn't feel like eating, but after that, it evened out and I felt better. I then went up to 40 mg. Two years ago, I started pulling my hair out. Went up to 80 mg, but it was too much, and my doc kept me on 60 mg. I still can't stop pulling my hair out. Does Prozac cause this OCD? I thought it was supposed to help it."

For Anxiety and Stress "This is my second week of taking fluoxetine at 20 mg once a day. My mind feels really blank. Don't feel sad or happy. I feel nothing. I still find it hard to get up in the morning and have found that I have less energy. I have been having side effects of stomach pains and loss of appetite, and now my whole body just hurts! I can say, though, that I worry a whole lot less about my future and that the little things that got me down don't really bother me as much anymore. I will keep taking it as I have seen in these comments that the side effects go away after a while, so hopefully, if that happens, maybe I can really start to enjoy my life again."

For Depression "My 16-year-old daughter has major fatigue, depression, and anxiety after 2 weeks of COVID from Sept 2020. Six months later, still recovering. Tried 20 mg Prozac, 100 mg Zoloft, Latuda, 5 mg Abilify, 54 mg Concerta, Ritalin, 60 mg Vyvanse, 40 mg Adderall XR, and Adderall IR. Nothing has worked, except taking 10 mg Adderall IR hourly, helps with 10% of schoolwork. Tomorrow will begin combo 20 mg Prozac and 5 mg Abilify, as many studies show this combo effective for non-responders. Hopefully, as we increase Prozac dosage, we're hoping to see a turnaround. Many reviews show 40 mg Prozac is the dose that had a good effect. So between the enhancing effects Abilify has on Prozac, or with the upping of Prozac dosage, we're hoping to see improvement with fatigue, low mood, poor sleep, and low appetite."

For Anxiety and Stress "I’m on my second round of fluoxetine. Anxiety came back with a vengeance in December (COVID lockdown). I’ve been put on 40 mg of fluoxetine, 40 mg 3x a day, beta blockers, and diazepam when needed. Although 75% of my symptoms, which include insomnia, weight loss, dry heaving, shaking, sweating, no appetite, crying, just to name a few, have subsided, I’m still having intrusive thoughts and trouble staying asleep. I’m also having talking therapy to then move on to CBT. I’m hoping it will all pass soon as it’s been 5 months."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I really liked Prozac initially. I was prescribed for OCD, panic disorder, and generalized anxiety. I have had depressive episodes in the past, but not my main concern. I was really sweaty and headachy for the first few days. After that, I had little appetite and no sex drive, which was disappointing. I could not sleep for the life of me on 20 mg or 10 mg of Prozac. My doc had me stop because I had a pretty lengthy derealization episode that was scary. It worked better than fluvoxamine for me though."

For Depression "I am 23, and I have been using fluoxetine for about a month and a half. I have noticed an improvement in my depression. I am able to think straight again and am more motivated. I do have two side effects from it: dry mouth and lack of appetite. I have lost a bit of weight since being on this. But feeling lighter and happier cancels those out."

For Panic Disorder "The first week starting Prozac was wonderful. I felt no anxiety, and the feelings of emptiness were gone. Now, if only it stuck that way. Fast forward to today, and I'm on day 10 and had to go to the hospital because I was vomiting and had the shakes. Thought I was dying. With this said, and the loss of appetite and nausea I had, I had to stop it. Being sick triggers me, and I can't afford to lose my job."

"I started this medication about two weeks ago for PTSD after already trying sertraline and citalopram, and it's really benefited my anxiety. However, my doctor told me I've been one of the unlucky ones with the side effects. I spent two hours trembling the other night, with my body jolting constantly, almost fitting. I've felt suicidal more often than not, and I've had really horrible and real hallucinations and delusions of trauma that happened months ago. Not to mention feeling sick, unable to eat, and waking up several times a night, often to nightmares. If you struggle with PTSD, I would recommend you do NOT take it at all. Now I'm on it, I see no positive way for me to come off it despite how I'm feeling due to the withdrawals people experience. Stay away from this drug."

For Anxiety and Stress "For about a month and a half, I was taking Buspar with Viibryd for my anxiety. In the past week and a half, I've had so much anxiety, it's made me sick and have terrible stomach heartburn/indigestion. Just about 4 days ago, my doctor decided to take me off the Viibryd and switch me to fluoxetine. Currently, for this week, I'm still on the full dose of Viibryd and 20 mg of fluoxetine, and will slowly taper off the Viibryd as I continue the fluoxetine. Right now, my biggest issue is a lack of appetite, which is so hard for me as I've always been considered underweight, so losing weight isn't ideal. I'm hoping the fluoxetine, with the Buspar, will be the right combination for me, and I won't have to go through any more trial and error. I'm just ready to get my life back. I guess we'll see how it goes from here."

For Depression "Being on Prozac was a nightmare experience. I have something called adjustment disorder with depressive episodes and anxiety attacks. My psychiatrist put me on 10 mg to start with in conjunction with my Wellbutrin. The first week was fine, and then I went up to 20 mg. I started feeling restless and anxious all the time, and my appetite was completely gone - I didn't want to eat at all. I had to literally force-feed myself, and I was losing weight rapidly. Then, over a month later, I had increasingly bad rage episodes where I would scream at people for no reason whatsoever. I yelled at a total stranger while driving and then had a panic attack. I stopped the drug, and it went away."

Fluoxetine for Depression "It’s been one week since I’ve started this medication, so I cannot say much yet since it’s not at its full potential; but even after the first day, I’ve already noticed improvements as far as motivation, less anxiety, and less irritability. So far, I’ve been feeling a bit sleepier, unable to eat much, and a bit of stomach discomfort and dizziness - which will hopefully go away soon. I was off SSRIs completely for a few months and found myself very passively suicidal and irritable. So far, Prozac has helped with that. Hoping to come back when it’s at its full potential."

For Panic Disorder "10 days I'm feeling a bit out of it-tired then wired, but it has alleviated the tense feeling from Pristiq 100 mg, and 50 mg isn't enough to keep all anxious depression symptoms away. I think I need more of the S than the N in the SNRIs. I've taken Zoloft previously with success, but changed to Effexor then Pristiq for a little more motivation 4 years ago, but it does cause weight gain for me compared to SSRIs. Prozac has killed my appetite and don't even think about food-bonus! I know it will improve in weeks. I started at 5 mg for 10 days, kept taking Pristiq EOD, I'll go to 10 mg and Pristiq every 3rd day, then cut Pristiq. Don't do withdrawals, and why do people have an obsession with trying to get off meds? If they work, stay on them, of course you will crash, you idiots!"

For Anxiety and Stress "So I’ve been taking this for 13 days. I was on sertraline for 4 years but felt like I wasn’t improving on it anymore. I had to reduce from 150 mg to 50 mg to switch. I’m experiencing withdrawals and shiny new side effects because of the new meds. I’m honestly at my worst. I'm having rolling panic attacks, no appetite, and I wake up with palpitations. I’ve been given a low dose of pericyazine to deal with this, so I’m going to stay on it and push through. I will update in a week or two."

Fluoxetine for Anxiety and Stress "I took this medicine for 7 days, lost my appetite the 3rd day, worsened my insomnia, it did not help with anxiety. By the 7th day, I felt even worse, finally decided to come off it. This is my second day off Prozac, and I still cannot eat, sleep, still have bad anxiety and feeling sick to my stomach and cannot eat anything. I'm extremely nauseated, haven't eaten much in 4-5 days. I hope my appetite comes back soon! This med did not work for me, it made me feel horrible."

Fluoxetine for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I tried this medication for a week and had a horrible experience. I didn't sleep for two days and completely lost my appetite. I did not eat anything and lost three pounds. I was already skinny to begin with. So, if you want to be malnourished and sleep-deprived and feel like a crack addict, this is the medication for you. It does help with anxiety, however."

Fluoxetine for Anxiety and Stress "I bore the side effects of this medication, 20 mg for 6 1/2 weeks. Nausea, no appetite, no sleep, tired from morning till night, then I couldn’t sleep! It did nothing for my anxiety. I actually felt worse!!! I’m so glad I’m off of this terrible drug. Going to try something more natural, like the naturopathic route or laser for anxiety. Goodbye, Paxil! Don’t let the door hit ya in the 'you know what' on the way out!!!!!"
