For Depression "I have been on Prozac for about 2 months. It started feeling positive effects after about 3 days. I became more social and outgoing, had less crying spells after a month, and I feel less physically dependent upon others and more stable with the ability to handle my own problems. Overall, I think Prozac is a great medicine, and it has definitely helped me so much! It has made me feel more caring, generous, and sympathetic towards others. It has also made me more motivated to focus in college and gave me the ability to enjoy the activities that I take part in. So far, the negative side effects I had were headaches on and off, feeling jittery almost as though I couldn't keep still (although this wore off after about a week), yawning, weight loss, etc."

For Panic Disorder "I was prescribed this drug for anxiety. I had a really bad reaction. From the first pill, I felt nauseous and had a terrible headache. On the third day, I had a panic attack, dizziness, I didn’t feel like myself. It was really scary. I stopped this medication, and I experienced the side effects for a few more days."

For Panic Disorder "I had a mild panic attack, doctor gave me 1/4 Klonopin and after 1 month he prescribed paroxetine, I just took half paroxetine 20 mg for 3 days, but it made me so nervous, so I stopped it, then the doctor gave me fluoxetine 20 mg plus alprazolam. I got really addicted to Klonopin, could not go out without that, but finally after starting alprazolam, I stopped Klonopin. Although I just took fluoxetine for 4 days, I could not sleep, mild headache, insomnia, nausea, the worst one nervous feeling which killed me. It was one of the worst things that happened in my life, stopped the pill after 4 days, I felt pain all over my body, I am on alprazolam 0.25, today I feel better, less nervous, but I don't know how long fluoxetine will stay in my body."

Fluoxetine for Anxiety and Stress "Anyone thinking about going on Prozac, DON'T DO IT! Unless you plan to take one month off work. But trying to come off is a nightmare, so you become dependent on Prozac. I took it for seven days, then enough was enough, I had every side effect. I also lost my job, seeing as I couldn't focus on small or, let alone, big tasks. The first night not taking it, I experienced headaches so bad I thought my head was going to explode. I also had uncontrollable leg movement and jaw locking. I didn’t sleep until 6 a.m. in the morning and woke up at 3 p.m. I will say, though, I did experience myself becoming overly happy on the third day. Hopefully, I feel back to my normal self within a week."

For Depression "Was on Lexapro 10 mg for 3 months, then 15 mg for 2 months. Lexapro reached a point of not working. Switched to 20 mg Prozac. No twitching, headaches, or sick stomach. Find appetite has increased."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I have been taking this medication for 33 days, after having the worst meltdown ever right before my period. I have had PMDD since I was 13 (21 now, so 8 years) and had tried fluoxetine in the past. I suffer from depression and anxiety, but I had never been depressed before menarche. This time around, I insisted I began with a low dosage of 5 mg, and took that for two weeks until my luteal phase, where I upped it to 10. I took the 10 mg for another two weeks and I'm planning to go back down to 5, then up to 10, etc. I have felt a lot less depressed, but have had headaches and panic attack onsets, which sucks! I exercise and meditate daily so I can tell some others would really struggle with the increased anxiety. I hope the anxiety is an initial side effect that will go away, so I'll be monitoring it closely. I consider fluoxetine to be somewhat effective for treating my PMDD so far. I still get grumpy and sad, but not crying-myself-to-sleep-until-my-tearducts-are-bruised level sad."
