For Birth Control "I started TriNessa because I had horrible cramps to the point where I would lay on the bathroom floor for days, and my doctor said that it would fix this. Although it lessened this symptom somewhat, I have had insane mood swings, depression, and nausea. Crying for no reason with depressing thoughts for 10-14 days is not worth a little less stomach pain every month. I'm going to try to switch brands soon."

For Acne "I was on the mini pill for about a year and really didn't mind it at all. However, I was weaning my baby and had some breaking out, so wanting to try the regular pill instead as recommended by my doctor. One month in and so far it is TERRIBLE. I get terrible cramps now, nausea all day, headaches, and my emotions are out of whack! I already have slight depression and anxiety, this pill made it SO much worse. My acne is the worst it's been since I first had my daughter, especially around my jawline. I am going to give it two more packs and then switch to something else."

For Birth Control "I started taking TriNessa in November, and this is by far the worst pill ever. During the first and second month of taking this pill, I was super nauseous, and I experienced terrible ovulation pain if I did not take my pill at the exact time every day. Currently, I have horrible mood swings, depression, and my skin is breaking out like crazy. The only thing this pill didn't do was gain weight. Going to my doctor next week to change my BC plan."

For Birth Control "I've been taking TriNessa for about 4-5 months now, and it hasn't been too bad. It's the first birth control I've ever used. I never have had bad acne at all, but the first month I was on it, I had terrible acne, but that's normal, and now I'm seeing I get acne more the week before my period on this pill. Also, the first month and a half, I noticed I was getting depressed, but that went away. I've had a severe decrease in my sex drive to the point where I usually don't even want to masturbate, but it's kind of coming back 5 months later. I haven't tested out its effectiveness yet because of my low drive. Other than the low drive, I don't really have any problems with it, but if I forget to take it, I will get a headache until I take it."

For Birth Control "I was switched to Trinessa by my new insurance and was told it was just a different generic for OTC Lo, which I had been on for about 3 years. Prior to the switch, I was recovering from anxiety and depression triggered by grad school. After switching, I spiraled down, and it took more than 6 months for me to put 2 and 2 together. The last 4 months, I was barely working 3-7 hours a week. I was suicidal. I was crawling out of my skin with anxiety. I was also getting treated by a psychiatrist and seeing a therapist weekly. I was doing everything I was supposed to, and it kept getting worse. One week off Trinessa, and I finally turned the corner. Still having bad days, but it is much more bearable. I'm now slowly starting to get my life back."

For Birth Control "I have been on TriNessa for 3 months now. I am 14 years old and am taking it for consistency in my period, acne, and consistent flow. I was very excited to start it because I didn't have a doubt in my mind that it wouldn't work the way I wanted it to. The first month I was on my period for 24 days. In the short time I've been on it, I have gained 15 pounds!!!! I used to weigh 100-108 pounds, now I weigh 120! Makes me want to cry. I haven't changed my diet, and I have always exercised daily and remain very active. My acne has not improved, these two things are very devastating to my confidence. It has left me somewhat depressed and moody. I don't think I would recommend this, however, every person is different, and it may work differently for them."

For Birth Control "I'm just trying TriNessa for the first time, and I absolutely hate it. Every day, there's a point where I'm very nauseated. I feel depressed and just so sick. Yeah, it shortened my period by 2 days, but I just hate feeling like this every day. It may work well for others, just my experience."

For Birth Control "Been on Tri-Nessa for almost 3 years now, and in the beginning, my mood swings and depression were all over the place. In the beginning, my periods were lighter and I was in less pain, but now it seems to have switched to more heavy periods and more painful currently. Yes, my skin is clearer, but I’ve developed hyperpigmentation (melasma) on my cheeks from using Tri-Nessa and the hormones."

For Birth Control "Every birth control is different. This was my first time trying out birth control, and after reading all the reviews, I was very nervous. However, I have absolutely no complaints. My acne is completely gone. My periods are regular and have gone from 7 days to only 3 days of very light bleeding. I have experienced NO weight gain. My breasts have gotten bigger, and the best part is no bad mood swings or depression, which is what I was the most scared of. No pregnancy scares either! However, my sister tried this medication, and even though it worked for me, it caused her to become extremely depressed."

For Birth Control "Used TriNessa for a little over a year. At the beginning, I was satisfied with this pill. Throughout time, I gained about 10 lbs. I've been really skinny my entire life and have difficulty gaining weight, so I was happy about that. My boobs grew too. I'm not prone to acne, but it helped keep my skin clear. Got headaches here and there, but nothing too severe. Eventually, I had to stop taking it because it gave me major depression and sad dark thoughts. I'm a happy person and didn't feel like my normal self at all. I also had 2 yeast infections during this time. Went back to my doctor and switched to Kariva."

For Birth Control "After being on Mirena for 7 years (2 rounds), I had my IUD removed after developing severe acne and depression. My doctor prescribed Trinessa, and I was hesitant to use it. I went birth control-free for 2 months with little to no improvement in my acne. I was also using Retin-A to help with it. I have now been on Trinessa for four months, and I'm so impressed. I rarely break out, and it clears up quickly. I still have scarring that's improving. I discontinued using Retin-A when I began using Trinessa. I gained about ten pounds, but it's not noticeable, and I actually feel more confident with my body now. My breasts did grow about one size as well. My mood also changed dramatically, I feel happier and more relaxed. The only negative I can say is the irregular periods. The first two months of use, I had very long periods, like three weeks at a time. Now I just skip the 'placebo week' and only get a bit of spotting 1-2 days. Overall, very happy!"

For Birth Control "I have been using TriNessa for 2 years now, since my daughter was born. This is my first birth control, and I am using this one because the name brand one my doctor recommended isn't covered by my insurance. At first, I thought everything was fine and that my life was just adjusting to being a new mom, but I feel like the birth control contributes to my feelings of depression, like I just can't shake it. I don't feel like myself and am having a hard time feeling happy. I have horrible mood swings, and it is putting a strain on my relationship with my husband, my libido is down the drain. While I haven't gained weight, it's been difficult to lose it, which wasn't such a challenge prior to the baby. I am very sensitive to smells, some things, like air fresheners, make me want to vomit. I get occasional nausea, but it's random. The plus side is that my seasonal allergies seem to be gone, and I have successfully not become pregnant."

For Birth Control "I just started this pill about 3 weeks ago and am starting to have many negative symptoms now. I was on Microgestin, had minor symptoms, so I switched to TriNessa, which made me severely depressed within the first couple of days of taking it. I started this pill and was not having these symptoms, but have recently felt overly tired and depressed. I did not think it was possible to feel the emotional pain I was going through from Estarylla again, but now that I am on TriNessa, I am back where I was with Estarylla. I feel that I could cry any moment over anything, and I overthink anything anyone does. Other than the depression, this pill has not shown any other bad symptoms, but I don’t know if I can handle this emotional stress anymore. I would not recommend starting this pill if you have anxiety already, as this has just made mine increasingly worse. I am hoping to stop this pill and am going to talk to my doctor over my uni break."

For Birth Control "Been on TriNessa for over a year and just within the last six months, everything has changed. The week before my period, I usually got mood swings, depression, anxiety, acne, back pain. But this month has so far been the worst. I can’t eat, I’m anxious all the time, I want to cry for no reason, and I have no control over my thoughts."

For Birth Control "I’m 18, and I decided it’s time to get back on birth control because I am sexually active. I thought maybe I should try TriNessa again, because when I was 15-16, I was taking this, I would forget to take the pill, so maybe that’s why I had problems (throwing up, hormonal). This time around, I haven’t missed any days so far, and I’m about a month in on taking it, and so far I am super depressed. I am usually a super nice person, I have a good job, great friends and family, and an amazing boyfriend. But it seems like lately, I feel worthless, and I am having really dark thoughts. I feel so dark and trapped, and it is terrible. I have been so awful to people surrounding me lately, including my boyfriend, and I just hate how I feel. I have been hearing that I just need to try to stay on it for a few more months for my body to get used to it, but we will see how that goes. If this continues, I am going to get off this one and try a new one."

For Birth Control "I had been on the Depo shot for about 8 years when I switched to the Nexplanon implant. That was the worst decision I ever made. I had never been so depressed or sore or had to deal with out-of-control periods until I got it inserted. I couldn't deal with it anymore, so I told my doctor that Orthotricyclen Lo had worked well before (I didn't want to do the shot again for various reasons - mainly work-related), so I requested to be put back on that. I have super predictable periods again, I'm far less depressed than I used to be, and my skin has NEVER been this clear before. The ONLY thing I hate about it is the fact that my breasts hurt all the time. There are very few moments when they don't hurt. More pros than cons for me, though."

For Birth Control "I started this bc when I was about 17 years old. I had few side effects, but over the course of a few months, I started developing UTIs. I'd never gotten one previously, but at the time, I didn't associate it with the bc pills. The UTIs became frequent, multiple UTIs within a month, even peeing after intercourse, taking cranberry supplements, wearing looser clothing, etc. After a couple of years, my prescription ran out (away at college). The UTIs immediately stopped, and I haven't experienced one since. Another long-term side effect I experienced was depression and irritability. I was treated for that and am still recovering from the depression. I've been off the pill for over a year now, and things are finally just now normalizing."

For Birth Control "I have been on Trinessa in the past for acne, and it had worked beautifully. I went off of it for 2 years and just got back on and am on pack 2. Unfortunately, I am having a terrible time adjusting. I spotted (or straight up just bled) for the entire first pack. I am struggling with anxiety and random panic attacks and constantly feel depressed. I'm also breaking out in hives. I've been taking the pill at night, and like clockwork, I break out just shortly after I take the pill."

For Birth Control "Been on TriNessa for 6 months because my insurance won't give me Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I used to just go to the health dept and get Ortho for free, I was on that for 15 years and didn't have a single issue. TriNessa makes me bloated, irritable, depressed, sore, swollen breasts. I cry a lot, and I've gained 20 lbs! No babies is the only plus."

For Birth Control "Oh my God, I wish they could take this off the market! I'm 3 weeks in on TriNessa after being on Trisprintec for 5 years (ran out of refills and was put on TriNessa before the doctor could get me in). I have experienced terrible anxiety and thoughts of depression. I have never felt this way in my life... I'm so happy, but it is astonishing. One moment I start to feel down and sad... FOR NO REASON. Also, my acne has gotten worse. One more week and I'm back to Trisprintec, thank God!!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've been on TriNessa for 5 months and experienced moodiness and depression for the first month of taking it. The second and third months I got vaginitis, nausea was always present, and in the fourth and fifth months, a horrible face rash with hives. I'm switching and going on Nexplanon and hoping that that works more to my liking. Not worth the face rash, though, and having to wear foundation is annoying, but hey, I didn't get pregnant."

For Birth Control "I took Lessina birth control, but my acne got very bad, and my doctor put me on TriNessa. My acne started clearing away immediately when I started. I get terrible mood swings and nausea. The nausea would hit me in the morning and last anywhere from a few minutes to hours. Sometimes the nausea is so bad I have to leave work. I've been diagnosed with moderate depression/anxiety since starting this medication. Overall, this birth control is okay. My periods are light and last anywhere from 4 to 6 days. Cramping is mild/moderate. I haven’t gained any weight being on this birth control, and my skin looks great. After getting prescribed sertraline, I feel like it’s helped my mood swings/depression a lot."

For Birth Control "At first, I’ve been using Lo Loestrin Fe for 6 months and had to switch due to being depressed all the time. I’ve never experienced depression until I took the pill. I would wake up every morning crying and feeling like a soulless human being. It was horrible to be feeling very low in life and starting my first semester of college. I finally decided to change to Trinessa Lo in hopes my depression would go away. Trinessa Lo has made me feel so much better, and I was myself again. The first month of using it, I did notice I broke out, but it stopped after the second. Another thing about the pill is I’ve noticed I’ve gained weight. I’m a skinny girl and have always been in shape, but now I can see I’ve got weight on me. I’m happy overall with Trinessa Lo because I’m no longer depressed. I don’t regret much in life, but taking Lo Loestrin Fe is something I wish I’d never encountered. It did ruin my confidence and relationship, but I’m in the process of healing again."
