For Birth Control "I decided to try this birth control to regulate my menstrual. I'm finishing up the first pack now, and I will not continue. I knew it was these pills making me feel depressed. I noticed it when I was in my 2nd week of pills. I was crying and feeling down and everything for no real reason, and over petty stuff. The first thing I thought of was the pills. So, I decided to research it and see that I'm not the only one. I just got over depression and definitely don't want to go back down that road. I'd rather deal with my menstrual over this feeling."

For Birth Control "I have never really been able to take birth control because it makes me unbearably moody and depressed. TriNessa seems to be doing the same thing. I have been taking this pill for about a week now, and I don't feel like I want to do anything, and I seem to be unusually frustrated with everyone and everything. I'm not sure if this will get better or if it will continue to make me feel this way. Judging from the other comments on this pill, people have been having the same problem."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on TriNessa for about a year now, and it’s been the worst year of my life. At first, my doctor told me it would take a while for my body to get used to it, so I didn’t stop taking it. I didn’t gain weight, but I’m having trouble losing weight. I go to the gym regularly and eat well. I’m a happy person, yet now I have never felt so depressed. I randomly cry, I’m always sad, I find it hard to get out of bed, and I’m always stressed. It’s about to ruin my relationship unless I get off of it. Any recommendations on what other birth control won’t make me depressed?"

For Birth Control "I have been on TriNessa for about 10 months. I will say that, as far as birth control goes, it's pretty effective. My periods were basically 3-ish days long and were super light, and, most importantly, I never got pregnant! That being said, I was extremely moody and went through a pretty bad depression. After reading some reviews, I now realize that there are plenty of women who have had similar experiences. I've been off of TriNessa for about a month now, and my mood has had a drastic improvement. Now on to looking for a new birth control."

For Birth Control "I've come to the end of my first month on this. I started taking it to help regulate my period. It has helped do that! But the anxiety and depression have been high. I get crazy moods where I can't stand anyone, and I don't want to be around anyone. I feel more bloated since taking them."

For Birth Control "TriNessa just makes me extremely tired all the time, and hungry even after I just ate! I went from barely finishing 1 meal a day to wanting 3 and snacks in between. Not to mention the added-on depression and EXTREME anxiety."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Trinessa since I stopped breastfeeding my little one about 9 months ago. My periods have been heavier and longer, and I’ve had stronger cramping than I did with my previous birth control. I’ve gained about 15 lbs since I started this medicine. I’m hungry all the time! And I get nauseous fairly regularly. Also, I’ve been very depressed. I’ve always had a tendency to struggle with anxiety and depression, so I wrote it off to that, or maybe even postpartum, but I took some time off of this birth control and have come to realize that it may have been a big cause of my unhappiness lately. Going hand in hand with my depression, I’ve had no libido on this pill. Overall, the pill has done its main job because I’m not pregnant, but after the research I’ve done, the negative side effects are going to cause me to change birth control."

For Birth Control "I've been on TriNessa for the past 5 months, and I've had nothing but horrible experiences. I started the first pill with my period, and I was okay up until week 1. It was prom, and I got extremely nauseous and threw up twice! I felt horrible (uncontrollable nausea, headaches, crazy mood changes, dry mouth) during the first month, but I decided to stick with it since the side effects were 'normal.' Months 2-4 were better; barely any nausea, only slight mood changes, regular light period. Now in month 5, I'm noticing how much I have changed (because it's summer) and how different I've become. I've become depressed; even thinking about crying makes me cry!"

"Trinessa is the best birth control I've tried! I've been faithful to it for 5 years now, with no side effects whatsoever. I used to have bad acne, and within a month or so of taking it, my face is completely clear! A godsend. It also doesn't affect my mood whatsoever or weight changes. I love it! I moved to the UK, and Trinessa isn't provided here, so I tried a different pill. It made me break out and made me very depressed, so I stopped. I'm having someone send me Trinessa from America because it is so good! I've also tried other pills before, and they all made me moody, whereas Trinessa just makes me feel calm. Definitely recommended."

For Birth Control "One of the very first side effects of this drug was spotting, which I was okay with, but during the very first two months, I experienced horrible cramping, way worse than the cramping of my usual period. I literally felt like my uterus was going to explode... it hurt that bad. Along with that, also came the side effects of a burning vagina - very uncomfortable and, worse, it lasted a while, to the point where I didn't want to have sex. Also, for 2 weeks, I was very depressed. This drug caused me to be extra sensitive to everything. Along with that, on the 4th month of taking this, I started to get hives all over my forehead. They were terribly itchy, and nothing made them go away. Even after I stopped taking it, it took months for it to go away :("

For Birth Control "I began taking birth control pills a little over a year ago and started on Ortho-Lo. My skin began breaking out, so my doctor switched me to TriNessa about 4-5 months ago, and I am a walking disaster area. My mood issues started out as mild, but have now blown into nonstop anxiety, depression, anger, and irritability. My boyfriend and family have all noticed. I am tired all the time and have lost motivation and interest in things I used to enjoy. I'm an absolute terror to be around on my period, and worst of all, my skin is terrible. I can't leave the house without makeup on and am constantly self-conscious about it. Each month has gotten worse with these symptoms, and I finally contacted my doctor and am switching to Yaz this Sunday."

For Birth Control "I've only been on this pill for 4 days, but so far, so good. My face has been clearing up, I haven't noticed any weight gain and haven't noticed any major changes in my mood. Before TriNessa, I tried Minastrin, and it was the worst experience of my life. I had to stop after day 4 because I had horrible mood swings, depression, and anxiety to the point where I almost went to the hospital. The only complaint I have so far is that my stomach has been super weird, and my period was the worst it's ever been. I started it the 1st day of my period, and it was super heavy and full of blood clots, and I had cramps for 3 days. Hoping my stomach issues stop and my mood doesn't change. I will update in a month or so."

For Birth Control "Well, I personally do not recommend this pill. I have been so sick since I began taking it about a month and a half ago. I was doing some research today and think I might be having a bad reaction to it. Not only have I developed acne, I've been having palpitations, racing heartbeat, depression, severe anxiety, chest pain and heaviness, and to top it off, unbearable migraines every single day! I feel like rubbish every single day, and I do believe this medicine is the reason. Bummer."

For Birth Control "I have taken Yasmine and the patch before and had to stop at 2 weeks because I immediately started experiencing side effects such as weight gain, nausea, vomiting, depression, and decreased sex drive. In addition, wearing the patch gave me back pain and lots of soreness at the patch site. The IUD came out after my uterus kept contracting (total failure). I recently started taking TriNessa (started 1st Sunday of my period @ 8 pm every night) and this is my 5th day. So far, I am only feeling very mild nausea. I have noticed I feel more energetic than before, so I am wondering if this might be actually balancing my hormones. I have been having irregular periods (2x month). I will update to see if it helps with my irregular periods and if there are more side effects."

For Birth Control "I took TriNessa for about a year, and I should have stopped way sooner. The side effects were bad: decreased libido, mood swings, depression, complete dryness in my vagina. It did clear up my skin, but I would not recommend it to anyone."

For Birth Control "I was on TriNessa for about 2.5 years. At first, it was fine. I was having sex. Never got pregnant. My acne was minimal. No serious weight gain. My mood swings and depression, however, were through the roof. I felt like I was going insane. I thought I was bipolar. I went off it, and I’ve been mostly fine. It’s a good birth control, but the depression/anxiety/mood swings absolutely were not worth it to me."

For Birth Control "I was having a lot of problems with spotting, so my doctor put me on TriNessa, and it was terrible. Each month, like clockwork, after finishing the second week of pills, I would have spotting that would last until I took my last pill, and then it's period time, so basically had a period for two weeks. Also, when I was off the active pills, I was really emotional. I would always be very, very depressed the first day of my period, and I would just remind myself it was because of the pill, but no one wants to willingly feel that way. My doctor has switched me over to Seasonique, and I am starting that in two weeks. I hope that helps me, as I've been dealing with spotting issues for almost a year and have been on probably four different pills, and nothing has helped."

For Birth Control "I was using Ortho Tri-Cyclen for about 2 or 3 years. I absolutely LOVED it. Before birth control, my periods used to be really heavy, and sometimes I'd go 2 or 3 months without one (which is super scary if you're sexually active). On Tri-Cyclen, my period started on the morning after I took the 3rd green pill every month. It was perfect. The new pharmacy I started going to didn't carry Tri-Cyclen, only TriNessa. I was hesitant since my body was already used to the other birth control, so I took about a year off. Just recently, I started TriNessa. On the first month, my period was normal. My depression and anxiety are MUCH better than when I wasn't using BC. I'm on my second month now, and everything is great! Can't tell a difference from Ortho Tri-Cyclen!"

For Acne "So, I am only within my first month, and this is scary. I have always had bad acne, but within this first month, it has made it worse. The kind of cystic acne I get now, I cannot get rid of as soon as I used to be able to. Most pimples would go away for about a week, and these have lasted for almost a month. I am also starting to take tretinoin and doxycycline in addition to the birth control because I feel so hopeless. Please, someone tell me this is supposed to happen? You know? Worse before better? Thanks."

For Acne "I was taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for many years. I don't recall having any problems. Up until last year, for some reason my prescription changed to TriNessa because it was the 'generic' version of Ortho. I went back to the doctor to get a refill last month, and they put me on another generic brand this time of TriNessa. Within the first week of taking it, I was getting bad migraines. The second and third week, I was feeling nauseous all day with also bad stomach pain. I noticed I was feeling depressed and unmotivated. One thing that scared me was my mood swings. I wasn't aware of it at all until my boyfriend said I went from being happy to irritable within minutes. After not even a full month of taking this pill, I will be switching."

For Acne "This medication definitely reacts differently for everyone. This is my ninth birth control I've been on in my life. I used to get cystic acne terribly on my face, and every birth control has had a different side effect for me. This one has been pretty bad. I no longer have terrible cystic acne on my face, but now it has appeared all over my back. Also, if you are taking depression medication, I really don't recommend it. This has absolutely made me more depressed, and I've also gained a lot of weight after almost 3 months of it. I think the pill makes me need to emotional eat."

For Birth Control "I have been on TriNessa for 3 months. My insurance no longer covers Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, and I've been told this is the closest generic to Tri-Cyclen Lo. It's been terrible. I've been emotional, sad, and irritable. I have highs and lows throughout the day. I've had very depressing thoughts. I have cramps the first day of my menstrual cycle for the first time in my life, and I'm 32 years old. I spot between periods. I now have acne, so I am going to the dermatologist to get a prescription for that. Everyone says to give it more time. That, because I was on Ortho for almost 20 years, it will be an adjustment. They tell me that TriNessa is forgiving and my body will come around. I don't know what I'll do..."
