For Acne "I have no idea what's going on. I started TriNessa mid-September, and it started to clear up my acne beautifully within 2 months. Best skin I've ever had! Since mid-December until now, however, I've completely regressed, horrible acne on my face and breakouts on my back as well. Has anyone else had the experience of it working, then not? Or any suggestions of whether to switch to Ortho Tri-Cyclen instead of the generic?"

For Birth Control "Okay, so, I've been taking this birth control for five years now. It does its job at preventing pregnancy. Been with my boyfriend for three years, never used a condom, never pregnant. That's basically the only good thing about it. My acne has been terrible the entire time I've used this birth control. My mood swings are insane, cramping makes me nauseous, and I would bleed for five to seven days. I'm diagnosed with depression, and I noticed the week before my period I would get insanely depressed. I'm guessing it was this birth control, considering it happened every month during the last week of pills. Switching over to Yasmin to see how that works."

For Acne "Ok, well, I just started this less than a week ago, and I can't tell if my acne is getting better or worse. My periods are definitely lighter and less crampy, but I'm breaking out on my cheeks (I've only gotten the occasional pimple on my cheeks). I notice my chin is clearing up a little bit, which is good compared to my usual 10 spots on it, now I just have 2. Although not only are my cheeks breaking out, but my forehead is kind of bumpier than usual. I'll have to wait a little more and see, I heard it gets better with time."

For Ovarian Cysts "I've been on TriNessa for about 9 years now. But for the last 3 years, I have been having major issues that TriNessa had previously helped with. These past 3 years, my acne has come back, my skin is flaky and oily, I have unwanted facial hair, my periods have become much shorter, which for me is not good. I have seizures during the 2 weeks leading up to my period, I am in immense pain and have severe fatigue during those 2 weeks as well. I'm not sure if the birth control has stopped working or if something else that the gyno hasn't found is causing this mess. Either way, this month I will not be taking it so I can see if being off of it helps anything."

For Birth Control "I originally switched to this brand after having severe mood swings/increased depression while on Seasonique. My doctor suggested skipping a month of the pills, which helped a lot. We determined Seasonique was not the best option. She prescribed me TriNessa, which has been a major step up since Seasonique. However, my acne has not changed any, and my sex drive is through the roof. I’m likely going to be switching to an IUD after the next few weeks to solve the problem."

For Birth Control "I was originally on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for years. Later on, my doctor prescribed me TriNessa, assuring me it was the exact same BC, just a generic name. The first few weeks appeared to be normal, but I have horrible cystic acne. Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo helped significantly with it, but with TriNessa, my acne was coming back and in waves. I also experienced horrible spotting, my periods would last almost 2 weeks with TriNessa. I thought it was just a fluke thing. I was originally 118 lbs, with a very physical routine, I was up to 135 lbs with the same eating habits and routine. Weight gain, all due to TriNessa. My breasts went from C's to DD's. This pill causes the worst depression, completely lost the will to try, to want. Worst medication ever. Scary."

For Acne "I went on TriNessa to regulate my periods and help with acne I would get around my period. My dermatologist prescribed it to me, so I never thought it would make my skin worse, but it did. I got severe cystic acne all around my cheeks, jawline, and neck. I did it for three months. When my acne got really bad in month two, I saw a dermatologist, and she said to stay on it for three months, and if my breakouts were still bad, then to get off it. So now I’ve been off it for about a week, and my acne is the worst it has ever been. My skin was completely clear during the summer, and now it is so severe I never want to leave my apartment. My dermatologist now thinks I’ll need to go on Accutane to fix what TriNessa did to my skin. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND."

For Birth Control "I'm in the middle of my third month using TriNessa. I'm 17, and it's the first form of birth control pills I've tried. Overall, these first few months have been a positive experience. I had minor acne which is all gone, and I never break out. My periods are much lighter. I only have to use a 'regular' size tampon for four days, but then I will usually spot for three to four more days, in which I'll just use a panty liner. My first week and month on TriNessa was pretty difficult, it messed with my vision and definitely my mood. I became very depressed and even suicidal at times, but things have gotten better since then. I have not gained or lost any weight on the pill and still have the same appetite. Also, it has been a great contraceptive."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've been on this pill for 4.5 years. Started right before freshman year, and I gained 20 lbs within a couple of months, which left HORRIBLE stretch marks. I lost that after a year and got back to my original weight. Good for birth control, but I have to switch due to spotting after my period and periods becoming heavier... it's just not strong enough for me anymore. Would recommend, but unfortunately, I just need something else. It also really helped my acne. Switching to the shot now."

For Birth Control "I love this. Acne was a little bad when first starting, but it cleared as I started drinking more water while taking the pill daily. I haven’t had any weight gain at all, matter of fact, I’ve been less hungry! Everything I eat pretty much fills me up. Although I have been way more tired and emotional than usual."

For Acne "Worked great for me. The first two months I did break out, but after month 3, I started to see clear skin. Still have 2-3 pimples and some brown spots, but overall much better than when I started. You definitely have to be patient and let your body adjust. Period is okay, but shorter, and I do get cramps on the first day, but at least it’s over after 4 days instead of 7."

For Birth Control "I'm 36 years old. I used TriNessa Lo for 3 months for the purpose of birth control. I recently decided to stop taking it because I had so many side effects from it. The worst side effect that I experienced was daily nausea. It was as if I was feeling morning sickness all day long the entire time I was on the pill. The only time I had relief was when I was having my period. I could barely tolerate foods and drinks that I normally consume. I also experienced hypersensitivity to smell... certain smells (like air fresheners) made me feel sick. I also experienced occasional headaches and broke out with more acne than I have had in years. I also found that I felt significantly more depressed near the end of my cycle before my period started."

For Birth Control "This is the only birth control I've ever taken, and I just started it at the beginning of the month. I don't know if it's supposed to get better, but I've been so emotional, and I've been gaining weight, about 10 pounds in less than a month. I work out and eat healthy. I feel bloated, and I want to stop taking this. Would not recommend. My acne hasn't even cleared, it's gotten worse."

For Birth Control "I give Trinessa a rating of 3 only because it was effective as birth control, but the side effects were not worth it. My skin broke out badly the very first day I was on Trinessa. I had inflamed, painful blemishes on my chin, always in the same areas until I started taking the placebo pill; then it gradually got better. I was also super emotional the entire time I took it; I even missed a day of work because I couldn't stop sobbing. Had a similar experience switching from Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo to TriSprintec; only side effects were even more severe, so I only took it one week. For me, definitely worth paying $60 more a month."

"I have been on TriNessa for about 4-5 months. For me, the worst things about it are constant breast tenderness (except for the week of my period) and acne right before my period. However, lately, the tenderness has significantly decreased, and the acne can be controlled as long as I take proper care of my skin. I also get pretty bad cramps, but it's only for the very first day of my period, and it's nothing Midol can't take care of. Everything else I have to say about TriNessa is positive. My periods are regular, I don't experience spotting if I miss pills, my mood is stable, I have no nausea, I'm not pregnant, and my sex drive has increased dramatically. All in all, an excellent pill."

For Birth Control "I've been using TriNessa for about 7 months, and it's been a roller coaster of an experience. As I continue to take this medication, my periods have become lighter and shorter, but at the same time, I still have cramps and abdominal pains for all 7 days. I have only noticed my acne getting worse, but the medication is inexpensive and effective, so I can't complain too much."

"I've been using TriNessa for almost a month now, and it was going good until about a few days ago. I woke up with an inflamed face. I've had small bumps on my forehead that had been going away, but now I have an even bigger problem. My face looks broken out all over. I've read the reviews, and they say give it some time to work and adjust, but I don't know if my self-confidence can handle it. But I'll see what happens in the next few weeks with it. Wish me luck!"

"I used to have very irregular periods, but while on TriNessa, they came right when they were supposed to. It did not, however, help at all with the heaviness of my period or my mild acne! And I gained 10 pounds. I am going to talk to my doctor to see if anything will make me not experience weight gain (and acne)."

"TriNessa pill is okay. I’ve had a slightly better experience than with others. In the first 30 days, it was cool, didn't kill my libido, no vaginal dryness, no acne. Now I am 10 pounds heavier, that cystic acne is cranking up again, and I am bloated! To the point where I look pregnant. I have also been dealing with some serious leg cramps, shooting pain up and down my leg. I'm going to hold off on taking this for a while."

For Acne "Don't do it. I went on this birth control because I was sexually active and I wanted something that would also minimize my breakouts. I would typically get a pimple a month. Towards the last week of taking this pill, my face broke out worse than it ever has. I had thousands of pimples. It was a mixture of small pimples, which are called comedo, and big cystic pimples along my jawline. I read reviews saying that you have to stay on the pills for at least three months, then things will balance out. I took the pill for another month, and things started to get even worse. I was so depressed and anxious. I stopped after my second pack, and my face immediately started to improve. If you're not reacting well, just stop, don't wait. I'm now on Lo Loestrin Fe."

For Birth Control "I'm 22, not sexually active, and taking the pill as a form of prevention against ovarian and uterine cancers. I've been on this pill for almost two full cycles. Before the pill, I rarely, if ever, had acne and prided myself on a clear complexion. Now, my face is a warzone, I have awful acne and acne scarring. It has been emotionally devastating, and my confidence has dwindled. Everyone in my life has noticed the drastic change. I feel embarrassed. My dermatologist said it may take 3 or 4 months for my system to regulate. Overall, I haven't had any other side effects, apart from weight gain."

For Birth Control "It's been really good. Still, I stopped taking the birth control pill. I got acne again, my period was late by 10 days, and it lasted for 3 days only. I'm going to see a gyno again soon because I'm worried."
