For Birth Control "After being on Mirena for 7 years (2 rounds), I had my IUD removed after developing severe acne and depression. My doctor prescribed Trinessa, and I was hesitant to use it. I went birth control-free for 2 months with little to no improvement in my acne. I was also using Retin-A to help with it. I have now been on Trinessa for four months, and I'm so impressed. I rarely break out, and it clears up quickly. I still have scarring that's improving. I discontinued using Retin-A when I began using Trinessa. I gained about ten pounds, but it's not noticeable, and I actually feel more confident with my body now. My breasts did grow about one size as well. My mood also changed dramatically, I feel happier and more relaxed. The only negative I can say is the irregular periods. The first two months of use, I had very long periods, like three weeks at a time. Now I just skip the 'placebo week' and only get a bit of spotting 1-2 days. Overall, very happy!"

For Birth Control "Been on TriNessa for over a year and just within the last six months, everything has changed. The week before my period, I usually got mood swings, depression, anxiety, acne, back pain. But this month has so far been the worst. I can’t eat, I’m anxious all the time, I want to cry for no reason, and I have no control over my thoughts."

For Acne "I requested Ortho Tri-Cyclen, but my pharmacy gave me this since my insurance did not cover Ortho Tri-Cyclen. Anyway, I went ahead and took this. It works as a contraceptive perfectly, but this caused me horrible acne like I've never experienced in my life. Seriously, at first, it was small bumps on my cheek, but within a week, they bursted into very irritated, red, sore, itchy pimples. I had only ever had like 2 pimples at a time on my face, but this medication made me have more than 20 on one cheek and more than 30 on the other. This pill obviously didn't work out for me. It may help for others in regards to acne, but my experience was so bad I finished my 3rd month's pack and stopped taking it."

For Birth Control "I switched to this birth control after being on the same one for 7 years. I changed because my other one was giving me extreme headaches when I went to the sugar pill. TriNessa has given me horrible breakouts, and I've always had really good skin. The main reason I will be switching is because of my horrible mood swings. I am annoyed and irate 24/7. It's horrible. I'm going to go back to a higher dosage of pills to get my hormones under control."

For Acne "I have been on TriNessa for almost 2 years now, and I haven't had any problems with it. I gained some weight at the beginning, but not too much. I started using it for acne and then was also using it for birth control, and both work great for me. Recently, I started getting a little acne back, but I'm pretty sure it's because of stress. Overall, it does the job well."

For Birth Control "I'm getting older, and my hormones are changing (I'm 28), but being on TriNessa this time around, my breasts have been sore for 2 weeks, and my normally clear skin has now turned into a breeding ground for bright red, painful acne cysts. I've only been on it for 1 month, but I'm going to give it a couple more months. On the bright side, I'm not pregnant."

For Acne "I am about to start my 4th month of TriNessa, and to be honest, my skin is nowhere near what I thought it would be. I can definitely say my skin has gotten a lot better. I suffered from very bad, consistent cystic acne on my cheeks. Since taking this, it has subsided. However, I don't feel like I necessarily have less acne. I still get a couple cystic pimples and break out pretty badly the week before my period and during. I also have bad scars, which I have been treating with peels. Although I have seen a huge improvement in my skin, I still do not feel comfortable without makeup. I was hoping by the end of 3 months I would have almost completely clear skin. I have had acne since about 12/13, and I am now 22. Any suggestions? Help please!!!"

For Birth Control "I am 18 now. I was on the lowest dose of TriNessa for 8 months to regulate my period. I get terrible migraines due to an irregular period, and they get so bad I end up at the ER, so my doctor put me back on TriNessa. I loved it. It gives me my period every month around the same couple of days. After a few months of starting the pill, my acne was all cleared, and I had 2 migraines in 8 months and no daily headaches like usual. The only cons are that I gained about 5 pounds, which isn't so bad. All birth control does this, but I am also tiny for my age (105 pounds), and I was also a bit moody. But those side effects are a lot better than migraines, which are not even bearable. I recommend this birth control. Also, my insurance covers the price every month."

For Birth Control "I have no problem with TriNessa. I'm sexually active with my boyfriend, and I'm not wanting a child, so it's done its job so far! I began birth control in 2010 and first started taking Tri-Specta (cepta? It was in 2010, I forget, lol), and wow. I had dramatic mood swings, it was incredible. I spoke to my doctor, to which she recommended TriNessa, and I've been on it since. I've never been super acne prone, but I occasionally get breakouts, just a zit or two, nothing bad, and usually right before or right after my period. No huge cravings. I've actually lost 24 lbs since 2010, so I can't say it's made me gain weight (a lot of other factors probably play a role with this as well). Birth control is birth control, so no one 'likes' it, but I'd give it 9/10."

For Acne "I'm so mad I started taking this. I used to have perfect skin, now my forehead is broken out, and nothing seems to be working to clear it up. Needless to say, I have stopped taking it. I only was taking it for 3 weeks, and the constant bleeding and acne, I just had to stop. I would not recommend this."

For Birth Control "Oh my God, I wish they could take this off the market! I'm 3 weeks in on TriNessa after being on Trisprintec for 5 years (ran out of refills and was put on TriNessa before the doctor could get me in). I have experienced terrible anxiety and thoughts of depression. I have never felt this way in my life... I'm so happy, but it is astonishing. One moment I start to feel down and sad... FOR NO REASON. Also, my acne has gotten worse. One more week and I'm back to Trisprintec, thank God!!"

For Birth Control "I've been on the pill for a month, started my second month, and almost finished with week one. So far, my cramps have still been horrible, and my acne has worsened since I've been on the pill. Hoping for changes in the third month!"

For Birth Control "Well, I haven't gotten pregnant, so I guess it's probably doing what it should. But since being on the drug, I have restless nights where I wake up constantly feeling nauseous. Sometimes it'll be at 4 AM, and then I just can't get back to sleep after it. As for my acne, it seemed to clear up a bit at first, but right around the time my period is starting, it gets horrible again. I don't like it at all."

For Birth Control "I went on TriNessa about a year ago for multiple reasons, such as acne, heavy periods, and just being sexually active. I went to my regular physician, and she prescribed me TriNessa. After about 3 weeks on this pill, I started noticing changes. I was gaining weight, which was strange for me as I stay around the same weight all the time. I was breaking out worse than before, and it didn’t show any signs of lightening up. My emotions were extremely hormonal, I could be laughing one second and crying the next. Not to mention, I felt as if I was going to throw up every morning. I thought maybe this was my body getting used to the hormones, so I decided to give it more time. About two months in, all of the symptoms were only getting worse. I had enough and got off of the pill. Within days, my mood was back to normal and I was no longer nauseous. But my skin has never been the same, I break out worse than before now, and I have hyperpigmentation, which I never had before. Absolutely do not recommend."

For Birth Control "I took Lessina birth control, but my acne got very bad, and my doctor put me on TriNessa. My acne started clearing away immediately when I started. I get terrible mood swings and nausea. The nausea would hit me in the morning and last anywhere from a few minutes to hours. Sometimes the nausea is so bad I have to leave work. I've been diagnosed with moderate depression/anxiety since starting this medication. Overall, this birth control is okay. My periods are light and last anywhere from 4 to 6 days. Cramping is mild/moderate. I haven’t gained any weight being on this birth control, and my skin looks great. After getting prescribed sertraline, I feel like it’s helped my mood swings/depression a lot."

For Acne "I have deep scarring acne on my cheeks and forehead. I was on TriNessa for 3 months and didn’t see much change. For the first 2 months, my forehead cleared up a little but no big change in my cheeks. In the middle of the second month, everything went downhill. My face broke out terribly and continues to get worse."

For Birth Control "At first, I’ve been using Lo Loestrin Fe for 6 months and had to switch due to being depressed all the time. I’ve never experienced depression until I took the pill. I would wake up every morning crying and feeling like a soulless human being. It was horrible to be feeling very low in life and starting my first semester of college. I finally decided to change to Trinessa Lo in hopes my depression would go away. Trinessa Lo has made me feel so much better, and I was myself again. The first month of using it, I did notice I broke out, but it stopped after the second. Another thing about the pill is I’ve noticed I’ve gained weight. I’m a skinny girl and have always been in shape, but now I can see I’ve got weight on me. I’m happy overall with Trinessa Lo because I’m no longer depressed. I don’t regret much in life, but taking Lo Loestrin Fe is something I wish I’d never encountered. It did ruin my confidence and relationship, but I’m in the process of healing again."

For Birth Control "Not good at all. I just started my 3-pack, and I'm taking myself off of it. The experience has been horrible. I've had unbelievable mood swings since the start. Major breast tenderness, my PMS starts about 2 weeks early. Lots of chin acne. Nausea every single night. Slight weight gain. But my worst side effect is my hair started falling out. Literally in clumps. I have very, very thick hair, and it's noticeably thinner. My mother noticed just by looking at my hairline, and my hairdresser also confirmed it was significantly thinner. Unfortunately, I have to be on a birth control, otherwise, I have too many issues without it. However, I've taken myself off of this and thrown away my last pack. I know pills work differently for everyone, but I would not recommend."

For Acne "I was on Aubra for 4 months, and I broke out on the jawline. I just switched to TriNessa and I'm breaking out with cystic acne on my jawline, sides of my face, and also my forehead. I've gained about 3 pounds, and it's only been 3 weeks on my first pack. I do not know what to do. I also became less patient, cranky, moody, feeling sticky, and swollen. I don't know if I should continue taking it and give it some time..."

For Birth Control "I am going to start by saying that every birth control works differently on every body and gene type, but I can say that TriNessa is showing me how horrible birth control can be. I started taking birth control when I was 15 and have been using TriNessa since then. This was my first birth control. I was okay for the first 3 years of my life, acne great, no weight gain, no irregular bleeding, but my period was heavy and my mood swings were absolutely insane. From having serious depression to anxiety about everything. For the past two years now, I have been starting to gain weight as I am 20. I have put on at least 20 pounds and still have depression and anxiety. I just went off of it today and hope I can be myself again."

For Acne "I was on Microgestin for 2.5 years and loved it. Cleared up my mild acne beautifully. But, I didn't get my period. Not once the entire 2.5 years. So, I decided to try TriNessa to give me a period AND maintain good skin. WORST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE. Made me break out SO badly for 4 months!! Now I'm back on Microgestin. Skin is still not better after 3 months. I am severely disappointed in how I reacted with TriNessa."

For Acne "I was on Orthotricyclen, which really cleared my skin, but my new doctor decided to switch BC on me to TriNessa, and I've been getting more than the typical one or two on my cheeks. And I never break out on my forehead, but I started to with TriNessa. TriNessa is horrible in helping acne!!"

"Trinessa was an awful experience for me. I wasn't on it very long until I started having bad side effects. I had vaginal itching, mood swings, depression, and an increase in acne. After experiencing depression, I soon quit taking it and my period started. Trinessa had also caused my period symptoms to be much worse."
