For Acne "I'm almost finished with my second month on Tri-Sprintec. First of all, I'd like to say that you cannot judge this drug by the way it works for you in two weeks. You need to take it for at least 3 months in order for your body to adjust to it. (Obviously, if the side effects are too much to bear, stop taking it.) Although it did clear up my acne in the first month, the only negative side effect I've had is a little cramping and headaches throughout the month. I've also heard that the name brand is better, so I'm thinking about trying that for a while."

For Birth Control "I have been on Tri-Sprintec off and on for the last 5 years or so. PROS: Skin is clear, minimal weight gain (if any). My breasts swell but aren't sore. CONS: Recently, I have a headache for the first three days of each new pack. Over time, I feel like it has given me more mood swings than it used to. Recently, I have been feeling that it has been making me feel depressed/sad. I just haven't felt myself. The breakthrough bleeding has also gotten worse. I had it for a week in the middle of my pill pack. I'm definitely bloated on this pill and retain water. It gets worse closer to my period. No problems during the first 4 years! My body must be changing... GYNO switched me to Microgestin 1/20. Hopefully, it's a smooth transition!"

For Acne "I've been on the pill for a short amount of time, and I'm already thinking of changing it. I've been nauseous, having horrible cramps, extreme appetite (which will probably lead to weight gain), headaches, and the WORST acne! I'm someone who has been struggling with acne, but my acne is worse than ever! It's everywhere too! Do not recommend."

For Birth Control "I am absolutely miserable on this birth control. I’m 21 and have been trying to give my body time to adjust to it, however, I’m going on month 3, and I’m ready to call my doctor and switch BC. Insomnia is terrible, I never had this issue before. Besides that, I spend more of my week being nauseous than not nauseous. I throw up at least twice a week due to this birth control. I have constant headaches and absolutely no sex drive whatsoever. Also, the mood swings are through the roof. I cannot wait to feel normal again!!!"

For Birth Control "I'm 16, and I've been taking this birth control for about 5 months, and at first, I loved it. I had shorter, lighter periods, and my breasts got bigger, but here lately, I've been having a lot of problems with it. I have been having really bad headaches. I'm really moody, get angry easy, I cry for no reason, my lower back has been hurting, bad cramps, gaining weight that I can't seem to lose, and my boyfriend and I fight all the time (which we never seemed to do before), and I think if I don't get off it soon, then I'd lose him."

For Birth Control "I started to take this pill and immediately stopped losing weight. I just had my second child and started an exercise program with a diet and was losing the baby weight fast. As soon as I started to take this pill, I have not been able to lose any weight. Also, I had my period, and a week and a half later I started to bleed again all the way till I finished my pack of pills, so for two and a half weeks straight. It has only been a couple of days without bleeding right now. Also, I have a headache every day, am exhausted, and I get in a VERY bad mood very fast. The other night I was so bloated I looked bigger than when I was 7 months pregnant. I called my doctor, and they did not seem worried at all. However, I think I will stop taking this pill."

"This is my first birth control, and I am happy with it overall, although the first day of my period I had terrible pain. I've never experienced this pain before... And I got my period 4 days after the last active pill. Not much side effects besides, my skin is pretty clear, no mood change/headaches, weight change. I think I will stay with it."

For Ovarian Cysts "This form of birth control helps with my making my period lighter and way less painful, but it has caused me to have both weight gain and crazy mood swings. I've only been on this pill for 5 months, but it's already causing me a headache. I feel depressed at times, upset, and even having problems when it comes to my sex drive. I'm not sure if that's this birth control or what, but I'm only 21. I shouldn't be having these problems."

For Birth Control "I started taking Tri-Sprintec about 3-4 months ago, at first, things were fine, and it worked great. Lately, I’ve been noticing some changes, though. For starters, I have developed some pretty bad acne, and before taking this pill, I have always had clear skin with occasional breakouts here and there. I also noticed that I get very nauseous and insanely bad headaches about an hour or so after taking my pill in the morning, sometimes so bad that I actually throw up. Another thing I noticed is that since being on this pill, I have become VERY emotional and snappy at times. Sometimes, I get so upset that I don’t want to move out of bed, which has NEVER been an issue for me before. I never used to have these kinds of mood swings before. I’m scheduling an appointment with my doctor to find a new birth control because even though this one gets the job done, it’s not worth always feeling like rubbish."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "So I've been on this a few weeks. I'm noticing more headaches. I generally feel sluggish. I feel sick, if I move too fast, I get dizzy. I take it in the morning, and if I don't eat soon after taking it, I have stomach pain the rest of the day. Weird fluttering cramps are another thing. Breast sensitivity out the wazoo. Increased sex drive. Metallic taste, like the taste you get right before you throw up. Random nausea spells, I have to pop mints like a son of a gun to feel okay. I'm disinterested in hobbies. I'm going to try to ride it out. It's better than the single hormones made me feel, but not by much."

For Birth Control "Tri-Sprintec has been a nightmare for me! It made me extremely moody and irritable to the point where no one wanted to be around me. It gave me insane, crazy headaches, and I’ve never suffered from any kind of migraine before in my life. It claims to help acne but made my moderate acne as bad as it’s ever been. And lastly, it caused me to gain weight and eat ungodly amounts of food as if I were always hungry. I do NOT recommend this form of birth control!!"

For Birth Control "Your body does take time to adjust to it. The first time I took it, I had it for 6-7 months and felt nauseous right after taking it and would get horrible headaches. I forgot to refill the prescription, so I was back on it a month later. And three months after that, I'm still experiencing nausea and headaches, but now I have light spotting a couple of days before my period, and it doesn't start until 1-3 days after the sugar pills. The only upside is no pregnancy, and it's cheap!"

For Birth Control "I've been on this medication for 4 months, and it has been awful. I originally got on it for my horrible stomach cramps and my irregular period. I will say that it has regulated my period and even made it light, which has been great. But I have been sick almost daily. I have gained a bit of weight since I started taking it 4 months ago. I have awful headaches every day, as well as stomach cramps. I would not recommend this medication at all!!"

For Birth Control "I started on Trinessa 7 years ago, I had no problems whatsoever! It actually worked very well! Because of changing insurance companies, I had to change pharmacies, and I could only receive Tri-Sprintec. The pharmacist said it was the same thing, although it was a pill 3x bigger. I don't believe it was the same dosage. Anyway, when I first took the pill, I noticed from the first day I was nauseous. I ended up quitting my birth control cold turkey on the 6th day of the pack because I couldn't stand the nausea, headaches, and hot flashes. Since I'm planning on starting a family here in a few months, I am just going to stay away from this birth control method. I would not recommend this medication, although everyone is different. Just not for me."

For Birth Control "First birth control medication I have ever been on, and it has turned out to be the worst experience for me! I got on it for heavy periods, which it has helped, but the side effects are not worth having a light flow for me! I have gained 20 pounds at least from this in two months (how is that even possible?), I have constant headaches and stomach cramps, and frequent diarrhea. Also, I have never had a problem with acne in my life. I got on this, and within a month, my face is breaking out like crazy! Needless to say, I am officially scared of contraceptives, and I will just take my week-long heavy, painful periods for the rest of my life."

For Birth Control "Similar to other people, I have found myself crying for no reason, anti-social at times, exhausted, dry eyes, significantly lower sex drive, less pleasure, headaches more often than when I wasn't on it, and I find myself less patient with others."

For Birth Control "I got pregnant and had an abortion, so the clinic recommended birth control to me to prevent another pregnancy. I haven’t used the pill in years because I didn’t like the side effects, so I shared my experiences with my doctor and was recommended this brand. I tried it because you can be very fertile after giving birth or having a miscarriage. Nonetheless, I’ve been on the medication for almost 40 days, and I’ve had several headaches, nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, dizziness, and for some reason, my urine smells like sulfur, which could also be a symptom of a UTI. I decided today I’m stopping this medication because I feel horrible, and I’d rather just use condoms."

For Birth Control "Every person's body is different, but I have had a HORRIBLE experience with this medicine. I switched from Lo-Estrin 24 FE to Tri-Sprintec because of the dramatic price difference, but I immediately switched back after three days of feeling like I was dying. Horrible headaches, extreme nausea, blackouts, and I was even randomly losing my vision. Like I said, everyone is different, so you won't know until you try, but if your body is accustomed to lower doses of hormones and you switch to something higher, it isn't a good result."

For Birth Control "I was on Tri-Sprintec for 6 months straight, and it was great. I had no side effects, no yeast infections, no headaches, and my weight remained the same. After that, I went to the doctor for my annual pap, and they gave me 3 months of FREE Ortho Tri-Cyclen pills. I took them because it was FREE, but those gave me constant yeast infections, headaches, tiredness, and my mood swings were insane. My sex drive went down, and I wasn't pleased, nor was my boyfriend. So, I couldn't take it anymore. I had the doctor write me a prescription for Tri-Sprintec, which always worked well for me."

For Birth Control "I used to take Loestrin, but I had breakthrough bleeding problems. So my doctor changed me to this pill. I am very pleased with it. I have gained about 15 pounds, though. I do get headaches, too. But overall, it's a pretty good pill."

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for about 3 months now, and the first month was okay even though my headaches were bad and having nausea. Before I had been taking this, I was having breast tenderness, but I took a test before, and it said I wasn’t pregnant, and my breasts are still having tenderness to them, and it’s my 3rd month on this kind of birth control. People are saying that your breasts shouldn’t still be feeling like that, so I’m getting worried about that. I’ve been pregnant before, and all my symptoms were breast tenderness and nausea. I don't know if I’m pregnant or what, but I’m sick of feeling like this. My cramps are worse, and my period days are longer but light. I’m having irregular periods now."

For Birth Control "I have been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo on and off for 2 years now and haven't had a problem. My insurance switched me to this medication, and I've had nothing but problems with it. Nausea and headaches, my periods have been up to two weeks long and I've had much pain during the time of them. You should try it for yourself, but for me it wasn't good, and I took it for 4 months. The doctor had me stay on to see if it got better, and it hasn't, so I was forced to switch to something else."

"I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for about 4 years before my change to Tri-Sprintec. With Ortho, my periods and acne had lessened, and I was extremely happy. In November 2009, I had a period for a month straight, and since the local Planned Parenthood shut down, I had to go to my family doctor for a visit. My dose was too low, so I had to be switched to a generic version of Ortho Tri-Cyclen. The first three months on this pill were hell. Bad acne, mood swings, nightmares, breast tenderness, and headaches. It almost ruined my relationship with my boyfriend because I didn't even want him to touch me. Since then, I've adjusted to the pill and am getting along fine."

For Acne "I am just starting my third pack of this birth control, and it has not been a fun experience at all. I've gotten headaches every single day, gained weight due to an increased appetite, and my acne has gotten worse. I used to get minor breakouts leading up to my period, but now I get 2-3 new cystic acne spots nearly every day. The only time my acne calms down is during the placebo week. I am going to finish this third pack and see what happens, but if nothing changes, I am definitely switching. As of right now, I would definitely NOT recommend this birth control."
