For Birth Control "Took this pill for 3 and a half weeks to help with my cramps, and honestly, this pill was the worst! Feeling depressed and having mad mood swings for no reason scared me. I’d catch myself crying for no reason and lashing out at loved ones. I was very irritable and just wanted to sleep. It interfered with my work to the point I had to take leave for a few days. NEVER AGAIN!!!!"

For Birth Control "I've been taking Tri-Sprintec for about 3 months now, and I haven't had any real problems with it at all. Just some breast tenderness right before my period and cravings every now and then. I used to be on Loestrin 24 Fe, and I had the worst side effects with it. I had severe mood swings and depression, which lasted for the entire 4 months I was on it. After getting off Loestrin, I went on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and didn't have any problems with it, but switched to Tri-Sprintec because it's cheaper. I was afraid that I might have the same negative side effects with Tri-Sprintec that I had with Loestrin, but I haven't, and that's just awesome to me! It's best to not judge a pill within the first week of taking it. It takes a few months to adjust."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for years. Originally I started on it for my heavy periods to make them more normal, and it did its job, never got pregnant. I thought all was good. Up until about 2, almost 3 weeks ago, I've been off it, and I have to say I feel like a whole new person, a happy person that's not sensitive to everything or an emotional wreck and depressed that I've felt for years. I caution this is a good birth control, but it does mess with your emotions and way of thinking for the worst."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I’ve been on Tri-Sprintec for a year now. My first month, I had a period that lasted the entire month, but it only happened that first month. This birth control does its job of preventing pregnancy. It also helped with my acne (like others have said, I get a pimple or two right when my period starts, but that’s it). It’s regulated my periods in the way that I know when I start the 4th week, my period will start. However, during the second week, I have spotting for almost the whole week... it’s very annoying. I’ve also noticed mood swings, depression, and anxiety. I have not gained weight with this medication. There are pros to this BC and cons. I’m staying on it for the next three months to see if any of the cons improve..."

For Birth Control "I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for about 4 months before switching to its generic version (Tri-Sprintec), so in total, I've been on the pill for 8 months. There are a couple of side effects I've had: weight gain, vaginal dryness. My sex drive is at an all-time low, and my hormones used to drive me crazy. I have problems with depression and anxiety, but I do believe it stabilized that and helped just a bit. It's cleared up my cystic acne somewhat. That's all I can think of for the side effects. I take the bad with the good, and the whole point of taking it was for acne and avoiding pregnancy, and it's doing a great job at the avoiding pregnancy thing! I would probably recommend."

For Birth Control "Honestly, I've tried MANY different birth controls that had bad side effects for me, such as depression, suicidal thoughts, breakthrough bleeding, longer periods... but this one has been the ONLY birth control that I've had little to no symptoms with. The only difference is I really didn't experience breast tenderness with my other birth controls, but with this one, my breasts are tender, and also I'm not quite sure when I'm supposed to start my period; I'm on my third inactive pill and haven't gotten it yet. With other birth controls, I usually start within the first pill of the inactive or the last active pill. Birth control AFFECTS every woman differently; it's never the same for each person."

For Ovarian Cysts "This form of birth control helps with my making my period lighter and way less painful, but it has caused me to have both weight gain and crazy mood swings. I've only been on this pill for 5 months, but it's already causing me a headache. I feel depressed at times, upset, and even having problems when it comes to my sex drive. I'm not sure if that's this birth control or what, but I'm only 21. I shouldn't be having these problems."

For Endometriosis "I’ll start by saying that I was on depo injection for 8 years without any issue. I quit taking it because I wanted my periods to be regular again. My periods have always been extremely rough, but about a year ago, I started having cramps almost constantly. This went on for months before my doctor prescribed me Tri-Sprintec. It got rid of the pain, and my periods were light and short, which I loved, but everything else got out of control. The first month was fine, but after that, things started going downhill. I am not an emotional person, and I found myself crying for no reason and so depressed that I barely got out of bed. It was a huge strain on my partner and me. I also had weighed 125 pounds my entire life and have now gained 40 pounds in the past year that seemed impossible to get rid of, even while eating healthy and exercising. I quit taking this a few weeks ago and already feel a million times better. Hoping that I can lose all this weight and start feeling normal again."

For Acne "I always had acne around periods, but after I had my son, it got severe. So much so that it left scars from inflammation that would make one zit into a pea-sized bump deep under my skin that was painful and caused anxiety, depression, and so on. After seeing a dermatologist, he prescribed a combo of 3 to combat it. The Tri-Sprintec to regulate hormones, a light topical antibiotic lotion, clindamycin, I think, and a year of doxycycline antibiotics. It took time, but after the antibiotics took care of the infection with this pill, it seemed to prevent acne. My reason for thinking this is the only time it's gotten bad again is after running out and going a month without or an occasional pimple during the placebo week. Overall, it helped a great deal..."

For Acne "I’ve taken this before and haven’t noticed any side effects, but starting again with Sprintec these last 4 months, I’ve gained weight, have had very unusual depression and anxiety, and my acne has gotten so bad, when it has never been that way. This definitely is not for everyone, the cystic acne makes me not want to show my face, it’s that bad, but I will say I’m not pregnant, so there’s that."

For Birth Control "It's the first time taking birth control, so I wasn't completely sure what to expect. I've been taking it for two weeks now, and it has made me extremely emotional, nauseous every morning (I take the pill at night). I have no appetite, my boobs are very sore, and I've had spotting after my period for about a week now. I'd say the worst side effect is my emotional state. I went from being a completely optimistic and happy person to feeling depressed and off-balance every day. I've cried almost every single day and for no reason. I hate this feeling. I don't feel like myself at all. I'm going to continue with the first three months (unless the effects worsen), only because I already paid for it, but I'll be talking to my doctor about switching."

For Birth Control "I have taken Tri-Sprintec for 2 months, and I refuse to start the third month. It makes me terribly nauseous, to the point where I will throw up about 4 times a day. (It happened so often I thought I was actually pregnant, which I am not.) I have never been a sad person, but since I started taking this pill, I have been extremely depressed and have had terrible mood swings. It also causes tenderness of my breasts that I've never felt before and is extremely uncomfortable. Everyone's bodies are different, but I had a horrible experience with this pill."

For Birth Control "I've had this birth control for 9 months, and I've had many problems. I became depressed, unsocial, and overreact to everything now. It feels like I'm constantly PMS'ing. It's affecting my relationship with my boyfriend and friends, and I've also lost interest in sex. I think I may have experienced one of its severe symptoms, which is depression. Though this birth control prevents you from getting pregnant, it's better to switch if you notice one of the listed severe symptoms."

For Birth Control "I took this birth control for a week and began having uncontrollable mood swings. I drove myself and everyone around me crazy because I was acting so psychotic. I felt depressed and would randomly break down and cry. I stopped taking it immediately when friends and family started noticing I was not acting like my normal, cheerful self. Do not recommend."

For Birth Control "I've been on Tri-Sprintec for about 8 months now after being switched over from Tri-Cyclen, which I was on for over a year. Unfortunately, Tri-Sprintec has really messed with my day-to-day mood. I'm easily irritated, lack motivation, and am constantly depressed. I tried convincing myself that it would get better the next month and the next month, but here I am, 8 months later and same symptoms. I have little to no sex drive, and because I'm easily irritable, I find myself pushing my boyfriend away. Will be looking into different pills or other methods of contraception, this is definitely not for me."

For Birth Control "I have been on Tri-Sprintec for about 4 years and overall would recommend it to anyone. I have had some moodiness and 'depression' but only at certain times of the month, and nothing I can't deal with since I know it's not REAL depression, and it doesn't last long. The worst thing about it is occasional nausea. I think taking my pill right before sleeping is the best, and that way I am only nauseated if I wake up really early. I consider these side effects minor after some of my friends' experiences of switching pills and all kinds of worse problems."

For Birth Control "I took Tri-Sprintec for 3 years, and the first 2.5 years were great! Very effective at preventing pregnancy and even lightened my periods. However, after that, I started to feel very nauseated my first week of a pack and then became so depressed during the second week that I could not get out of bed. I know others who have had this experience after extended use."

For Birth Control "Three weeks into taking this birth control, I experienced severe anxiety, debilitating panic attacks that sent me to urgent care and kept me from working, depression, sensitivity to light and sound, racing heart, insomnia, and a complete personality change for the worse. My family didn't want to be around me. I stopped taking this drug four days ago and already feel a tremendous difference. I no longer have anxiety about going to bed at night, or driving on fast roads, or anything else that used to shut me down before. I have noticed a difference in my outlook on life, my personality, and it's only been four days. My doctor told me it can take a week to get completely out of my system, but I am seeing improvement every day. Consumers beware of this drug."

For Birth Control "I had been using Tri-Sprintec for about 8 months before switching. While taking this birth control, I became a complete nutcase. My emotions were a constant roller coaster, I developed severe anxiety, and I couldn't understand why I was always depressed. The smallest things brought me to tears, and I was not in the least bit acting myself. After 8 months of feeling like a looney bin, my doctor and I discussed my birth control. Little did I know that it had 3 estrogen levels that increase over the month, which he said could definitely be responsible for my 8 months of sudden anxiety and increased emotions. My doctor switched me to Junel Fe, which has the lowest possible level of estrogen. It has been a month, and I finally feel like myself again."

For Acne "Oh wow. The side effects of this medication are not worth it. I had been on it years before, so I tried it again to help with acne. I became so fatigued and lethargic I could barely walk my dog or go up steps without a lot of effort. My boyfriend was extremely worried about me, saying it was the darkest I’ve ever been. I became depressed, overwhelmed, nauseous, upset stomach daily, hopeless, tearful, and had panic symptoms as well. No acne would be great, but I’m about to ruin my life if I stay on this any longer! Only took 12 days' worth, but I have to stop."

For Birth Control "I've used Tri-Cyclen for over 3 years with absolutely no issues. I would get a few pimples a month, no big deal. I've always had acne-prone skin. I've dealt with anxiety issues and depression a few years ago, but I haven't had any issues with it since. So my pharmacist tells me they no longer carry Tri-Cyclen and they only have Tri-Sprintec. Let me tell you, I am MAD. I had absolutely no warning it was changing and that it would be the exact same. That was a huge lie. I have been taking it for a whole month now, and I get deep cystic pimples every day on my cheeks. And my anxiety and depression have come back so hard I don't even want to leave my house. Seriously, this is the worst thing that could have ever happened. Please, for the love of God, do NOT TAKE THIS. Throwing it in the trash."

"I've been taking Tri-Sprintec for 4 years, it works well to avoid pregnancy and regulate my period, but I've gained almost 20 lbs, and I have spurts of intense anger and sadness. Sometimes I'm really hungry, and other times I can't eat a thing without feeling sick and bloated. Sex is usually painful, but my sex drive has escalated greatly, especially the week after my period."

For Birth Control "I have only been on this medication for three days, and I swear I have never been so depressed in my life! I thought maybe it was my imagination (because obviously three days isn't long enough to actually get a feel for what a medication is like), but after reading the reviews, depression and anxiety seem like a normal side effect. I'm considering stopping it already. I have absolutely no motive at all, and I'm very irritable."
