"Been on this birth control over a year now, and I gained so much weight. Thinking about changing it up. The periods are normal. It's always 4-5 days regular. I thought I was the only one gaining weight from this birth control."

"My experience wasn't that bad! When I first started taking the pill, I was very hormonal and nauseous, but once a month or so kicked in, everything was fine. My periods only lasted five days and were always consistent. I did make my acne fade, and I didn't gain any weight, the only sort of bad thing is that my bra size increased by a cup. I've been on it for a year now, and so far so good!"

"I took this pill for about 2 and a half years. It worked great, only had a few pregnancy scares from forgetting to take the pills on time. I usually always remembered, but it was sometimes a hassle to remember every day. I had good and bad side effects. It got rid of all of my acne and made my periods regular. I did gain about 25 pounds and had a much lower sex drive, though. I did spot occasionally, but not too often. If I decided to take the pill through my period rather than stopping, sex would start to hurt deep in my uterus eventually. That happened many times. I decided to get off that birth control a few months ago, and I could tell that I had a complete change in my body. I lost weight and felt happier. My sex drive went up incredibly."

"I started taking this pill when I was 21 years old. Because of recent times, I switched to the Mirena IUD, and it didn't work for me for various reasons. I switched back to this pill in January 2017 and love it. I like this pill because while you absolutely SHOULD take it at the same time every day, as long as you take it within a few hours of the same time each day--you should be fine. I've never had a pregnancy scare on this pill, so that's a major benefit. No crazy mood swings or bad side effects. This time around I will say this: my period is way lighter. Used to last 7 days, now only lasts 5. One and only bummer was the first month or two my appetite was weird - this symptom went away after 2 months though! Highly recommend this BC."

"I was on this medication a few years ago, and it worked great. I decided to go back on birth control about a month ago. I have been taking it for 23 days. No problems until this week. I am very irritable and extremely nauseated. I don't think this medication is right for me."

"When I first started taking it, my breasts were very sore. Other than that, it's kept my periods much lighter and manageable, and I haven't gotten pregnant using this as my only form of birth control. I've known people who haven't had good results from it, but I'm pretty sure it's one of the cheapest birth control pills out there and would definitely try it before switching to something else. I have no insurance, and using my pharmacy's discount program, I pay $7.50 for it."

"All in all, Mononessa has worked very well. I've been taking it for about a month, I'm just getting into the green-colored tablets. I woke up at 4 am the second day throwing up, but ever since then, I haven't been nauseated. I have pretty bad acne, it hasn't really helped. I was hoping it would. But I haven't been overly emotional (no more than usual, that is), and it seems like my period is going to start right on time. It's great. I tried Yaz before this one, and I spotted for a whole month. Was not going for that. But anyways, yeah, Mononessa's great! Glad I'm taking it now."

"Aside from the horrible nausea I have gotten, this pill is very effective, and the time window is 2 hours, but I have taken it 5 hours later a few times and had no problem. I also have unprotected sex regularly. It cleared my acne after my first month's dose."

"I have been on this pill for 3 months now, and I LOVE IT! At first, my moods were wacky, and my boobs hurt really bad, but I'm finally adjusted, and it's amazing. No accidental pregnancy, and LIGHTER PERIODS!! This pill is a winner in my book."

"While I haven't been on it long, I can say I have been worlds different. I originally was on Sprintec for a good 10 years. Got a new job where I just got my RXs filled there (insurance requirement) and was given Estrace as a substitute. Can we say all hell broke loose on it? Moody (which I'm not at all), gained 15 lbs, always bloated, foods I should want and love made me sick, no sex drive, horrible periods, lethargic, etc., etc. Well, then the pharmacy got Mononessa in. No joke, within a week the bloating subsided, I dropped 5 lbs, my mood was way better, and my drive is back. Honestly, I feel better on it than even Sprintec. Watch your inactive ingredients, those are what cause the side effects more than the hormones."

"I've been on this pill for years and years and love it, mostly because of how it evens out my moods. My doctor is saying at my age it may be time to wean off of birth control, but I will put it off as long as I can. I have a family history of clinical depression and mood swings and feel so safe on this medication. Having said that, Walgreens just told me they wanted me to switch to another medication. NOOOOOO!!!!!"

"I was nervous to get on this pill because of the reviews, but I started anyway. I've been on this pill for almost three months, and I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who has not experienced the bad side effects. This pill actually made my sex drive increase, and it does its job well. The only con is that I do break out a lot when it's time to take the seven inactive pills, but once I start the active pills, my acne clears, and it's also cleared all my back acne! No mood swings, no vomiting, no nausea, no weight gain (I do work out most days of the week), no fatigue, no cravings. Like I said, I'm one of the lucky ones. Best birth control I've been on."

"I had no problems the first 3 months I was on this pill. Now, the last 5 months, I have been eating like crazy more than ever, losing eyesight after getting a brand new prescription from my eye doctor. Migraines like crazy. Loss of interest in sex, vaginal irritation, swelling, and bleeding from it being so dried out. I cannot pee without crying anymore, it is so painful. Today, I started bleeding brown blood after taking myself off the pill a week ago. Would NOT recommend to anyone."

"I have been taking it to prevent pregnancy since I had my baby, and so far it's been really good. Hardly any side effects at all. Only thing I don't like is I'm a little more moody and get headaches sometimes, but for having a period every other month now, I'm right on time every month. I recommend it."

"Love this pill! Great hormone balancer and contraceptive. Pros: cystic acne gone, moods regulated, no more monthly migraines, few to no cramps, on my period for only 5 days each month, did not decrease my sex drive. Cons: weight gain (25 lbs in 3 months that won't come off 3 years later), bigger breasts (D cup to DDD). Other pills made me spot all month and have mood swings. This one does not. Free through my insurance too!"

"Took three months. Bled a whole month straight during, like a medium-flow period. No signs of pregnancy or miscarriage hormones, doctors say. No growths to explain bleeding or abnormalities in my blood test results. I experienced little nausea, headaches, and no swelling."

"I just switched from a different birth control brand that I was on for 2 months and switched to Mononessa. The first 3 weeks of being on Mononessa, I had a lot of irregular bleeding. Now I'm taking my inactive pill, and I am not bleeding at all. I am very frustrated. Since it is my first month, I am going to give this new pill 1 more month, and if I still have irregular bleeding, then I am switching. However, on a positive note, it has cleared up my acne, and I am loving that."

"I was on Zarah for 5 years and recently began ovulating on the pill, so my doctor wanted me to go on something with a bit more estrogen and recommended Mononessa. I was pretty nervous with all the mixed reviews I read before taking it, especially because I experienced no side effects with Zarah. In all honesty, the first 4 days were not pleasant. I had what felt like non-stop migraines, my anxiety was on a different level (I kept thinking I was suffering from DVT and was having mini panic attacks). I had weird palpitations when working out, and I had a lot of trouble staying asleep. All of a sudden on day 5, I felt normal again. I guess my body just needed to adjust, and hopefully symptoms don't come back!"

"Mononessa has prevented me from getting pregnant (even when I missed a pill), but not without side effects. I have been taking it for 2 years and have gained 15 pounds and constantly look bloated. I have vaginal discharge from it and experience vaginal dryness constantly. I don't have cravings from it, but sometimes I have depressive mood swings. On the upside, my period went from being so painful I couldn't function to pretty light and barely any cramps."

"I have been on Mononessa for two years. I started on it while young and then switched to Implanon, which I absolutely hated, but after being back on the pill, I feel so relieved! I rarely have skin breakouts, my cramps used to be awful, but now I hardly have them, if any at all. Only downside is dryness, but nothing lube can't fix!"

"I have been using Mononessa for about 2-3 years now, never any problems aside from nausea, and I fixed that by only taking the pill before going to bed. Even taking this at different times of the night, I never had problems with spotting or anything at all. I just got switched to Estarylla because Walgreens doesn't have Mononessa for me anymore. I'm nervous about switching. Every time I have switched pills, something bad happens, so I always revert back to Mononessa. I guess we will see how this switch goes."

"I've been on Mononessa for about 5 years now. I started the pill because of irregular periods and extra protection against pregnancy. The first two to three months, my body was adjusting to the change, which caused nausea and mood swings, but afterwards, I was back to normal. My appetite has gone up, my sex drive has gone down just a bit, but not to the point where I was worried about it. I have clear skin, and my periods are shorter and lighter. By far, the best pill I have been."

"This birth control works and does its job, it's just the mood swings that have been terrible for me. I cry all the time over nothing, and I go from being happy to angry to depressed. I feel it putting a strain on my relationship, and I am considering going off it. On the plus side, however, my period cramps are now nonexistent. I haven't experienced any weight gain or cravings (I've always eaten a lot, though, so it's hard to tell!). My acne actually got better, but only slightly, and that could be due to other factors. I just feel like the mood swings outweigh the benefits, and I just want to feel better."

"This birth control has been okay for me. I am switching to an IUD next month after being on Mononessa for 1 1/2 years. Pros: decreased acne, regular period, decreased cramps during the period, lighter/slightly shorter period, no weight gain, no pregnancy. Cons: CRAZY mood swings, decreased sex drive, dryness, other medications lower the effectiveness, bad migraines during my period. The migraines during my period were terrible the first 3-4 months, I assume because my body was reacting to the decrease in hormones. The main reason I am switching is the mood swings because Mirena does not have estrogen. I used to be laid back and happy, but my mood has become crazy and very unpredictable. Overall, a good birth control, just not the right one for me."

"This was my first birth control, and I was on it for about a year. I took it to help lighten and regulate my ridiculously heavy period, and it did just that. However, it gave me terrible mood swings, spotting, and the final straw was my once thick hair became extremely thin. Though it did its original purpose, the side effects were just too much."
