For Birth Control "I had a horrible experience on this birth control. After reading the reviews, I'm a little embarrassed that I didn't research it before I started taking it. I took the pill for 2 months and experienced severe mood swings, nausea/vomiting, headaches, and spotting. It was a dark brown color, and I stopped taking the pill after that experience and because of the mood swings. I would also cry constantly, I initially thought it was due to stress, but since I stopped taking it, I haven't cried once. I haven't been taking the pill for two weeks, and I have NOT experienced the above side effects. I know everyone's body is different, and after showing my boyfriend these reviews, we both are happy that I'm not the only one who experienced these side effects."

For Birth Control "I have not been on birth control for 2 years. I used to take a different Ortho-Cyclen birth control, so I assumed this generic Estarylla would be okay to use. I have only been taking Estarylla for 8 days, and it has been terrible for me. Where do I start? Constant bloat, water retention, weight gain, it has extended my period, headache every day, moodiness, major breast tenderness and swelling. I tried to rationalize these symptoms and relate them to my period, but all of these symptoms have increased in severity since I have started taking Estarylla. I also have experienced sharp pains in my chest, pain in my shoulder and neck, and shortness of breath while I was sleeping. I am no longer going to take Estarylla because of the way it has negatively affected me already."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have only been on this birth control for about 3 to 4 months. Prior to starting this, I had at least 2 weeks out of each month feeling sick, crying, severe depression, cramps that would keep me up all night, headaches, no energy-you name it. Since I've been on the pill, most of my symptoms have lightened up, and my PMS starts a few days before my period, not a week or more ahead. I will say this month I have been more emotional, but this is the first time I've noticed my flow being lighter. At my last check-up, I was told my symptoms would improve more the longer I've been on it, so fingers crossed it continues to get better each month!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Was on Sprintec for years and recently started having increased nausea and increased nervousness. GYN switched me to Estarylla. I've been on it for a month now, and I feel really good. No nausea, headaches, less cramping, but it takes about 3 months to regulate in your body, so the breakthrough bleeding has been unpredictable. With Sprintec, I didn't have a cycle for 3-4 months (taking it back to back), but now I've had some spotting and 2 episodes of heavy bleeding with clots unexpectedly. Don't like that, but cramps are much less and emotions are constant, so I will just wait it out the 3 months, hoping my body will regulate. Other than the bleeding, I actually love this pill so far."

For Birth Control "I have only been on Estarylla for a month, and I am having nothing but issues. I go to the gym regularly and eat a healthy diet, and I have done nothing but gain weight. I feel swollen and bloated constantly, and I have headaches almost every day. It was given to me as the generic for Sprintec (which was amazing), and I can't believe how different they are. I am emotional and on edge all of the time. I don't even want to know what my period will feel like if this is what I am going through already. I don't know why anyone would want to put themselves through this even for just a birth control. I do not recommend Estarylla at all."

For Birth Control "I have been sick since the first night, extreme abdominal pain, nausea, spotting, dizziness, and headaches. I haven't had any real mood changes save for being overly sensitive and crying at the drop of a hat. Terrible, find another brand."

For Birth Control "I started taking Estarylla in November 2018, and at first, hated the brand. I had skin rashes, migraines, and felt depressed to a point where I had no motivation to do anything. Unfortunately, my skin broke out worse than it ever has due to this birth control. The headaches lasted for only a couple of weeks, but I still felt emotional until recently. I was planning on getting off of the birth control because of how bad I felt, but am glad I pushed through. On the plus side, my breasts grew quickly after taking the pill, and I’ve been fully protected without other contraceptives. I’m towards the end of my third month taking Estarylla, and there are no more side effects, and I am feeling like myself again. Everyone reacts differently to this brand, but it’s not the worst out there."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've been on this pill for a month. This is my first birth control, so I don't have much experience. But let me just say, I have cried almost every day since starting, I've been moody and depressed for the past 4 weeks, I get extreme headaches, and I've been on my period now for nearly 2 weeks, so I'm not even having sex anymore. I'm stopping this pill, it's ruining my quality of life, and I cannot stand the side effects. And I'm out of town, so I need to wait another week before seeing my doctor. Please stay away from this pill, find something different, it's not worth it."

For Birth Control "I am not one to complain about medicine. However, I wish I would’ve read these reviews BEFORE I started taking Estarylla. I’ve been on Tri-Nessa for 2 years (with no problems) and switched medicine to find an easier way to skip periods. The doctor prescribed Mononessa, but I was stuck with this brand. I suffer occasionally from migraines outside of medicine, but I’ve had a dull headache most every day since I’ve been taking this medicine. Never had that problem with Tri-Nessa, as it actually helped my migraines. If that’s not bad enough, 3 months in on this medicine, and I have HORRIBLE anxiety and feel like I’m going crazy. I feel like I want to crawl out of my skin, as I’m jittery, and it feels like I’m dreaming my daily life. I never have had anxiety in my life. I cannot wait to finish this pack in 2 days and go back to the doctor next week, as I’m going back to Tri-Nessa. Do NOT take this medicine without doing your research."

For Birth Control "This is the worst birth control I have ever been on. I have had every single bad side effect. I have gotten a lasting headache every single day, I am so anxious 24/7, and moody and angry and sad. I have never struggled with acne, but ever since I started this pill, I started breaking out, and they have not gone away since. I have gained 12 pounds in the last month, and that weight will not go away no matter what I try. On top of that, I had my period for the first 3 weeks of taking Estarylla. Horrible, horrible, horrible. I'm switching off of this ASAP."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm fairly new to this pill. I have had very heavy, painful periods for the past few months, so my doctor prescribed me this. I'm only in my first week, but very hesitant on staying with it. I started the day of my period. I've had little cramps and light bleeding, so that's great and all, but for the past four days, I've had the most annoying headache. Not sure if this pain in my head is worth being cramp-free."

For Birth Control "So I’ve been on this birth control for about a week and a half, and so far it’s been great. I was very scared to try it because of all the bad reviews. I take it at night at 9 pm. The only side effect I've had was being super emotional, I'm very sensitive to everything. I had a huge headache for like 8 hours, but it went away after that. I hope this was helpful."

For Birth Control "I do not recommend this pill. I was switched to Estarylla after my drug store discontinued Mononessa. I called every drug store in town, and nobody has it anymore. They assured me Estarylla was the same, it is the generic for Mononessa, Ortho-Cyclen, Sprintec, etc. I’ve taken it for 3 days, and all 3 days I have had excruciating headaches and nausea. I skipped a day of taking it just to see if it was causing the headaches. I had no headache the day I skipped. Took it the next evening, and headache pain woke me in the middle of the night, and I feel like I could throw up. Absolutely horrible. I will be trashing these pills. Everybody responds differently to medications, just be cautious with this one!"

For Birth Control "So, I am 27 and suffer from PMDD. I'm currently weaning off of Prozac because I am now covered in hives. Anyway, I give this medicine a few stars because it prevented pregnancy. However, I had headaches every day for the few months that I was on it, my brother wanted me to get an MRI. Sometimes the headaches were so bad I couldn't see and had to lay down at work. I also experienced extreme hangovers for 24 hours or more, even if I only drank 1 beer. I do not recommend this medicine. I take Orthotricyclin, and it seems to be working fine. I also took Orthotricyclin when I was 17 for a few years. I'm reading up on some herbs now for PMDD. Good luck."

For Birth Control "I was put on Estarylla a few months after my miscarriage. I’ve always had PMS, but normally my moods and other symptoms only last a few days. Since being on this birth control, I’ve been irrational at times, have terrible headaches to the point of crying, pain in my legs and sometimes arms, and jaw aches, and I’ve been having crazy dreams as well. When I start my cycle, I don’t start bleeding for a few days after being off the pill. When I finally get it, it’s very thick and heavy. I thought all of this was just in my head until I started doing research today and found out this pill was the culprit."

For Birth Control "I was switched from MonoNessa to another one of the generics, Estarylla, because my pharmacy wasn't carrying MonoNessa anymore. This was in November of last year (2018). I was on Estarylla for a little less than 2 months (had to stop before a full two months because of the adverse effects). I was experiencing the worst acne I have ever had in my life, and I am finally now almost back to how I was before. I was depressed continuously (I don't have depressive tendencies), I would have outbreaks of anger and sadness (also not like me). Through this forum, I found that many people were feeling the way I was feeling and that it wasn't in my head. Since I have been off Estarylla, my face has cleared, I don't have as many headaches, and my mood has stabilized. The difference in my mood took about 5-10 days, and the process with my acne has taken a lot longer and is still going. I can't describe in completeness how I felt on this medication because it was so terrible."

For Birth Control "I gave this a 6 because I had both positive and negative effects on this medication. I'll start with the positive. I have been taking it for four months and it's done its job in making sure I don't get pregnant. I do take it at the same time every day though. I also used to get irritated easily, and now it is very rare, so that's a plus. I hated being moody lol. Now the negative. The first week I started this medication, I got SEVERE headaches. I put up with them because I thought it was my body adjusting to the medication. I had a minor breakout, but nothing that concerned me. Fast forward to month 4, and I still have the headaches. I also now have large breakouts that I haven't gotten in years. My hair started to fall out as well, and I have ZERO sex drive. I don't feel like myself either. My periods are not shorter, but I don't get cramps, so that's good. I like that it's done its job, but the side effects are too much for me. I will be getting on a new birth control pill next month."

For Birth Control "My obgyn switched me to this due to midcycle spotting on Trinessa Lo, and it was also determined that triphasic pills give me frequent headaches and migraine attacks. I have less to no headaches with consistent doses. So far, not liking this pill at all, except the almost no headaches part. I have been on it 3 weeks and have had constant stomach aches with bloating and indigestion. Ugh. I have been getting stomach bloat and diarrhea every 2-3 days. Sorry for the TMI. Most days I have to push myself to eat. And also, this pill has a very bitter taste. I had some mid-cycle cramping as well. I am due this month for my yearly. I will let my obgyn know and see if he will switch me back to Safyral or try a 30 mcg dose of levonorgestrel. 20 mcg got to where it wasn't enough, and this 35 mcg might be too strong. Not sure how my periods will be on this, but using birth control pills to regulate and lighten my period. But if this pill is hard on my stomach, chances are I need a different one."

"I was on Mononessa for about 6 months for my PCOS until my pharmacy suddenly handed me this pack. I read online they had the same doses, so I didn’t mind about the change. Ever since I’ve been on Estarylla, I’ve been getting TERRIBLE nausea and headaches about one week before my period, and the nausea persists until my period ends. This month I had those two symptoms with dizziness added. I have also been having terrible mood swings, and I’ve been really irritated about small things. I will call my pharmacy in hopes to get Mononessa again because even though they have the same active ingredients in equal doses, they are NOT the same for my body."

For Birth Control "Reading the horror stories about Estarylla had made me very wary when it was prescribed by my doctor. But in all honesty, I feel completely fine! The first two weeks came with a bit of nausea and light headaches (lasted 5-10 minutes max). But after that, I felt no different! I haven’t experienced any weight gain, no acne… if anything, I personally feel it’s helping my acne. I don’t have any raging mood swings. So I’d say don’t knock it till you try it! :)"

For Birth Control "I was on Mononessa for years (after a bad reaction to Sprintec), then Walgreens switched to Estarylla. I was nervous to start this new pack after reading these reviews, and I have experienced some bad side effects since taking it. I’ve had a constant headache for 10 days straight, and I’ve never experienced that before. I never get migraines, and I drink too much water for it to be dehydration. I also have no interest in anything I used to, and I have zero energy. Most of my days now are spent sleeping or laying in my bed. Since starting week two, I’ve started noticing some mood swings, like getting angry and crying for no reason. I am not myself on this pill, and if nothing has changed for the better as soon as the month is up, I’m done because I can’t take this anymore. The only good thing was that it seems like I’ve lost a little weight, and my breasts aren’t as huge as they were on Mononessa. I take the pill for irregular periods, and so far, it's done its job."

For Birth Control "So I’ve been on the pill about a week and a day, and I’m not liking it so far. Since I’ve started, I’ve been very sleepy, and it seems like I’m having the symptoms of the flu. My body is weak, and I have no energy to do anything. I read the instructions, and it’s telling me I basically have to get used to it since this is my first time, but it sucks. I’m tired, weak, I have diarrhea, headaches, the past 2 days I’ve thrown up. It even seems like I’m pregnant almost. I move too much, I feel sick, or even the sight/smell of something makes me sick. I don’t want to stop since I want to be careful, but jeesh. I don't like feeling like this."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Honestly, it did its job in regulating my period, but I was a completely different person. I had mood swings, slept for long hours during the day, and was always so drowsy. One of the good things was that it did help with my headaches as well. My acne also got way better, and I never had to worry about cramping and heavy bleeding when I was on my period. I think the hormones really affect one's mood and feelings. Like I said, I didn't like the fact that I slept so much and didn't feel like myself, but I appreciate the good things it did. Weight gain-wise, I'm not sure, I think my appetite got stronger and I gained a few pounds on my own, but I'm starting a new BC (Mili), and I hope the only side effect is mood changes!"

For Birth Control "I've been using birth control pills for over 10 years, and this one has been the best for me. Other ones cause me to have spotting, mood swings, etc. I haven't had any side effects with this one. My period is lighter, regulated, no spotting, no mood swings, no headaches, no acne. I do feel bloated, but that can be due to my poor diet. Everybody's different and may react poorly to it, but it's worth a shot. You never know until you try it. I was worried because of all the reviews, but it turned out great for me."
