"I had to switch over to Minastrin because Loestrin was discontinued. I've been on this pill for a year and a half now, and it's the worst pill out there. I'm 21 and fit, but I have developed varicose veins from this pill. Ever since I started, they have been popping up everywhere on my legs. Also, I have no sex drive, putting a strain on my relationship. And I have gained over 30 pounds. I'm just dropping this pill altogether."

"I've been on Minastrin for maybe less than a year, and for my body, it works great! I had no nausea, less cramping and bleeding, and cleared my acne up. However, I did gain about 10 lbs and lots of bloating. Overall, it worked great. My periods were much lighter and lasted about 2-3 days, plus I haven't gotten pregnant. Unfortunately, my insurance company does not cover it, so I've been paying around $80 per month. Keep in mind everyone's body reacts to birth control differently, so do not get overwhelmed with the negative reviews!"

"Just checking in again. Switched my pill from Minastrin to Kariva. Lost all the weight I gained on Minastrin. 10 lbs in 2 weeks. This pill is terrible. Terrible side effects. Terrible copay. Terrible behavior changes. Terrible everything."

"I freaking love Minastrin 24 Fe! I was on Loestrin before, and when the generic came out, I was happy to save money, but even better than that, now it's FREE with my insurance! Plus, I've been on this for, I don't know, 8-10 years, and don't have periods. At all. It's awesome! No periods, no cramping, no hormonal issues. Yes, I have women ask how I can tell if I'm pregnant, but I just don't worry about it. I use the pill, and my husband uses a condom, and honestly, I had more worries about pregnancy before, because if you were a day or two late, it was total meltdown time. Now, it's just a non-issue in my mind. There are no negatives to this pill for me."

"I have tried so many different birth control pills for so long and could never find the right one. Then I tried Minastrin Fe. I'm very pleased with it. It does make me a little more hungry. But I am aware it's only a side effect and ignore any extra appetite I may feel. In general, it's a good pill!"

"I have been on this pill for about 7 months, and the only side effect I've experienced is that I no longer get my period at all. I've been to my doctor, who says that this is completely normal. The reason I started taking Minastrin is because I had very severe period cramps that often caused me to throw up and pass out, and since I've stopped getting my period, obviously this problem has been solved."

"I have been taking Minastrin 24 Fe for 3 years now, and I have no more cramps or period ever! My period stopped completely for a year now! Before, I used to suffer from horrible cramps and heavy period, but now I feel amazing every month! I totally recommend and wish I had found it when I was a teenager!"

"I wanted to write this review because I see others really struggling with Minastrin at first, and I want to tell you - take heart! I'm in my second month on this pill, and the first was rough. I had mood swings, bloating, and bleeding every day for a month. I felt miserable and was convinced I would stop taking this. However, I took the very first pill of my second pack, and every single symptom disappeared overnight. I don't have a single issue anymore, and the bleeding stopped. Not even experiencing spotting. I know every body is different, so I'm not saying this will work for you as well, but in my case, sticking it out that first month was so important. I'm really glad I stayed with it, and I hope you give it a chance too."

"I am 16 and have been on this for almost a year now. I like this medication because, for me, it has done a great job of easing my headaches and nausea. I still get some once in a while, but it's not as bad as before. I have not had any real problems with my mood, but I do see that I cry more often and sometimes get a little depressed, but I am able to blow it off. The only real criticism I have about this medication is that when I started on my period again, it was regular, then it stopped. COMPLETELY! But I was like, what?!? I would spot, but at random times. For the year I have been using it, I can say I have only gotten my period maybe twice. Very hard to know if you're pregnant without a period."

"Honestly, I love this birth control so much. I've been on it for almost 3 years, and I've never had any problems. I feel it has actually helped me to not gain weight, though I am naturally thin to begin with. No mood swings, no weight gain, no weird side effects for me. My hair seems to grow faster, like from my scalp... but no weird body hair growth (as I had on a progesterone-only pill I once tried out. Yikes.) No acne. No problems. The only thing I would say is weird to most but really great, in my opinion, is that I haven't had a period on this stuff. I bleed lightly for 1 day once a year. I frequently have unprotected sex with my long-term committed partner, and we've never had a problem. 10/10 would recommend."

"This is my first time on birth control, so I'm not comparing it to another brand. I started taking this to help with my extremely heavy and painful periods. Pros: periods are 3 or less days and are extremely light, I no longer experience horrible cramps, just very minor aches. I haven't gotten pregnant, only 4 placebo pills compared to 7, my skin cleared up. Cons: my transition period was rough - I spotted 20 of 30 days the first two months. I had extreme nausea the first month that killed my appetite. I still have occasional nausea, particularly at night, but I no longer spot. Only side effects I've noticed. It took care of my main problem though - heavy painful periods, so it's been worth it, I will stick to it."

"I was switched from Loestrin 24 to this since it was discontinued, and at first, I was super nervous because it was chewable, but I liked Loestrin, so I went with it. The first month was okay, and it was exactly like Loestrin 24 with nothing different. The second month, I was told by my doctor that I can skip the placebo pills to not have my period, and I did just that. The first week after doing so was great, but then I started to spot. I knew it would happen, but it's been going on consecutively for three weeks, and it's into the next pack now. It's also caused mood swings, headaches (and I never get those), vision blurriness here and there, cramps, bloating, gassy, all the upsetting side effects. Overall, not good, and I may switch to another BC."

"I have endometriosis and polycystic ovarian disease, both of which have been proved via ultrasound and surgeries. I've been off birth control for 3 years and decided to start taking it again to preserve the bit of fertility I have left. After only a few days, I felt what was similar to a UTI paired with throwing up. On top of that, I have had panic attacks, high anxiety, suicidal thoughts, you name it. Following a heart-to-heart with a close friend, my mom, and my sister, I've realized the birth control definitely induced this. I haven't changed anything over the past except that. For anyone that has a very busy life, stressed anyways, or has any kind of underlying depression/anxiety, please be very careful when you take this."

"Loestrin 24 Fe was discontinued, and I was switched to Minastrin 24 Fe. I was told it was the same exact pill. I had been on Loestrin for 4 years and never had a problem. Sadly, Minastrin was not the same. I had horrible side effects from this pill. Besides the weird periods, I had mood swings that made me miserable. I also had a horrible allergic reaction to this medication. It was extremely unclear whether this has to be chewed or not."

"PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE!!! I started on Minastrin 24 Fe in February of 2016 because my fiancé and I were going to be getting married in April 2016. We both were virgins, and I had never been on a contraceptive before, but we both wanted to wait a while to have kids in our marriage. Well, at first things didn't seem too bad. However, I started noticing acne breakouts, and I was surprised at how I was easy to cry... however, I thought it was due to wedding planning and not birth control. However, after a month and a half into our marriage... about a month ago, I started developing extreme mood swings, depression, weird thoughts I couldn't seem to cope with, suicidal thoughts, emotional about everything, losing feeling for my husband (who believe me, I adore and love so very much), 15 to 17-pound weight gain, panic attacks, depression, anxiety, fatigue, swelling in my legs and feet, and even one of my big toes started to go numb. I even started thinking the worst things about my husband and losing loss of feeling for him. I was scared to death! I was usually full of life and happy and carefree, and a very energetic and outgoing young woman who loved her husband and her life! I was always active and tried to be health conscious. My husband has been extremely gracious and patient through all of this, and believe me, you do not want to start your marriage out like this!!! So he and I decided to stop the pill about 2 weeks ago (mid of June 2016). My acne has cleared, my swelling has gone down, and physically I am feeling better each day. My emotional swings are slowly lessening, and I haven't had any panic attacks lately. I am still struggling, but each day I feel more myself and am getting back to the real me. SO PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE FOR YOUR SAKE AND THE SAKE OF THOSE YOU LOVE AROUND YOU!!! Stay away from this pill! These hormones are synthetic and fake, and they aren't natural for our bodies. It may work for some people, but it is not worth the risk of going through what I have to see if it will work for you as well."

"I went on Minastrin to help regulate my periods, which were coming every two weeks or so, and ever since I've been on this pill, all I've done is bleed! Now I'm constantly having my period... Hope I don't bleed to death! FML."

"I have nothing bad to say about this pill. I had the Mirena for almost a year, and it was the worst BC ever. I had bad acne, weight gain, not able to lose weight, and stomach pain. I am very active (even had a trainer and ate healthy), and once I got the Mirena, I was not able to lose a pound and felt bloated all the time. It also made my migraines way worse. About a month after I got it out, I lost 10 lbs. Then, after a couple of months, I got Nexplanon. I have PCOS, so BC helps with my bleeding and cramps. I only had that in for a month, and it caused weight gain (4 lbs), water retention, migraines, and acne on my neck. I have been on Minastrin 24 Fe for a month, and it is a savior. No acne, no weight gain, and it has helped my migraines. I highly recommend."

"I've been on birth control pills for 20 years now. After I had my daughter, I started to have consecutive problems of urinary infections because my doctor decided to switch my pill to something that would not affect my breast milk. After I tried many different kinds of pills and other ways of contraception, I was finally given the Loestrin, which changed my quality of life. No more urinary infections, which made my sex life and consequently my marriage much better. Never noticed major side effects. Then, when I had to switch to Minastrin, everything was the same, as great as with Loestrin."

"My daughter began using this drug in December of 2013. On January 25, 2014, she died from a blood clot to her lung. She was not overweight, did not smoke, or have any conditions that were supposed to have negative implications regarding the use of this drug. However, in the prescribing doctor's notes, the doctor advised her not to take this drug. This information was never told to my wife by my daughter, and therefore, in my opinion, was a lie. This drug, I believe, killed my daughter. My daughter died 10 days before her 21st birthday."

"I have been on Lo Estrin 24 Fe or Minastrin 24 Fe for over 5 years now. Overall, I have had no problems with it. At first, I did gain some weight, but I was just entering high school at the time, so it may not have been just from the birth control. Before, I had very irregular periods - with them coming about every 2 weeks, and they were extremely heavy. Now I get my period every month at the same time for about 2-3 days, and they are very light periods. Before birth control, I had a few cysts on my ovaries, which is why I was originally put on the pill, and I have not had one in the last 5 years. I have never had acne either on or off the pill. I get very little cramps each month - usually only lasting a day."

"I am 36 years old. I have previously been on Loestrin 24 FE, then Generess FE. My physician switched me to Minastrin, and I have gained weight, I am so lethargic and tired all of the time. I am moody and overall unhappy, which I have never had in my life. I get cramps periodically, and I get spotting at random times, although very, very light. This is the most horrible pill I have ever been on. I will be getting off of it immediately."

"I have been on Minastrin for about 5 months and have had no real negative physical side effects. My boobs grew a half of a cup size, but that was it for physical effects. I did, however, experience emotional and psychological side effects. I noticed that I rarely wanted to leave the house and had no desire to see friends. It made me extremely overdramatic and moody. I just switched to another BC because I was beginning to feel too depressed. I'm not certain that this depression is coming from Minastrin, but it began around the time I started this pill."

"I have been on Minastrin for 7 months now. It is the first birth control I have ever been on. My OBGYN recommended I get on the pill due to severe cramping and unpredictable periods. During the first month, my breasts were very tender. I could not even stand to have a bra on. The first three cycles I had a strange brown discharge, and the fourth cycle I completely skipped my period. However, since then, my period has only been a day long, predictable, and very light. Other than the breast tenderness and weird cycles, the only other symptom I had was constipation. Overall, I found this pill to be wonderful. The only reason I am switching is that I have new insurance that no longer covers it."

"I was on Generess FE for about 2 years (loved it) and then could no longer afford it because it no longer had an Activis card to use when paying for it. So, the doctor put me on Minastrin 24 FE. I believe this pill has made me gain a little bit of weight in a very short amount of time, and my biggest concern is how it has affected me emotionally. I feel very moody and so unhappy, almost depressed. I also have no sex drive, which I am not sure if that is from the pill or the slight depression from the pill. Either way, it is just not working well with my body. I can't wait to switch off of this pill."

"I haven't had any problems with the new pill. I had Loestrin before they switched it over, and I never had any problems with it then either. If anything, it's made my period go away completely. I've been on both the old and new name combined for about 3 years now. The only thing that's changed is that they've made the chewable option, which tastes nasty, so I just swallow it."
