For Birth Control "I've been taking this for a few months now. No bad side effects, just a lot of bleeding. I'll have my period for a week, then boom, another one a week and a half later, and this one is way heavier and crappier. I've basically bled for almost a month. It's ruining my sex life."

For Birth Control "First off, let me start by saying that I am sensitive to hormones. I can't seem to find one that doesn't make me sick or extremely moody. I was put on this for endometriosis pain, and the first day I took it, I ate with it and was fine. The second day I took it, I also ate with it. About 8 pm, I went to bed at midnight and woke up at 4 am sick to my stomach, shaking, and my heart racing, just like I have before with another pill and was vomiting for about 2 hours. I am now, 2 days later, bleeding, and my period wasn't supposed to be here until 2 weeks from now! It doesn't feel like a period, but it's not fun either. Wouldn't recommend for anyone who is hormone sensitive."

For Birth Control "This pill is the worst! Never been a fan of birth control. Doctor recommended it due to my extreme menstrual cycles with heavy bleeding and cramps - you know the kind of 'call out of work' type pain. I gained weight within 3 months and bled for 3.5 months consecutively with cramping and major mood swings! My doctor insisted that I remain on it. I decided to stop this pill. I feel back to my happy self, and the irregular periods have stopped! I've even lost weight. This pill is an absolute NO for me!!!"

For Birth Control "The first time I took this, I was on it for a year. When I went in for my annual, I told my Dr. I had horrible, crippling depression and anxiety, and we both thought it was due to all my life changes (graduating nursing school, getting a new job, moving out of my parents' house, planning a wedding). When I told her I was having breakthrough bleeding on this pill, she switched me to a different pill. My depression and anxiety immediately got better. I recently started taking it again (after pregnancy and breastfeeding). I’ve only been on it 2 months, and the depression is horrible. I have thoughts of self-harm and am just so down. I’m ALWAYS hungry and tired. I know this pill doesn’t have the same effects on everyone, but just be careful and aware of these possible side effects before getting on this pill. I believed my doctor that these symptoms were not in any way related to the pill, and clearly, they are."

For Birth Control "I experienced bloating, depression, acne. No breast tenderness and no weight change. I had very little breakthrough bleeding and 2-day 'periods'. I didn't have mood swings, although I was freakishly mellowed out. I quickly fell into a deep depression complete with suicidal thoughts, and I have never had either of these before. My acne was intense, especially on my back. I also had a strange sensation of having out-of-body experiences (for lack of a better description). I was 'there,' but I felt like my mind wasn't, but I know and understand this is a rare side effect."

For Birth Control "Truly exceptional pill! I've been on it for almost a year. At first I had a little breakthrough bleeding, but that's the only adverse side effect I've encountered. My boobs went from an A to a C, I have no cramping, really light periods that last 2-3 days, and I've had no weight gain. Would recommend to anyone!"

For Birth Control "Took Lo Loestrin Fe for 5 months, wanted to regulate my periods. First few days of taking it, I was getting bad headaches and got acne on my face only, period stopped coming till the 3rd month and was followed by bleeding for 2 weeks. By the 4th month, acne was gone, headaches continued, had extreme anxiety and depression, was getting moody, lost weight, appetite was almost gone. By the 4th month, I had gotten my period, which lasted a week with painful cramps, a week and a half later again with breakthrough bleeding and this time was very heavy with passing blood clots. Felt very weak and miserable, I took it exactly the same time every day and never missed a dose, still had headaches and vomiting, breakthrough bleeding was getting heavy and was not stopping at all. I could barely make it through the 5th month, I felt weak and tired also, so I spoke to my doctor and told her that I’m stopping this pill. Been a week now since I stopped taking this pill, and I still feel weak and shaky. This medicine is not for me at all."

For Birth Control "I am in my 40s. I wanted to try this pill to control my very heavy periods. I was a little worried after hearing all the stories. I had a little bit of breakout bleeding in the second month, but otherwise no side effects. The first few months I had a light period for 2 days each month. I only needed pantyliners. I am on my fourth month, and I had no period. I highly recommend this BC. It worked great for me. I love it."

For Birth Control "GREAT PILL! Last year, after being on a brand of birth control pill for 20 years with light, predictable, and short periods, I began to have breakthrough bleeding, horrible cramping, and bleeding. Lo Loestrin was the third pill my GYN put me on, and after a week or so of spotting and light cramping, I haven't had a period since mid-December. So far, so good on this prescription, I'm happy to have tried it."

For Birth Control "I've been on the pill for about a year and 1 month now. This is my first birth control, and I got on it because my periods were horrible and extremely heavy and also because I entered a serious relationship. I was fine up until the half-year mark until I had spotting for 12 days before getting my real period 4 days late. Now I still have breakthrough bleeding right after ovulation, which always causes me to freak out. Other than that, the pill is fine. I actually lost weight on this pill, and I can't gain weight anything past 108. My sex drive is sometimes affected, it takes a while for me to get into the mood, and my boyfriend is supportive of it. It's just the darn spotting that irritates me."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for 4 months, and it has been great. I had breakthrough bleeding the first couple of months, but now I don't have any bleeding or period. I have lost 10 pounds because I don't have an appetite anymore, so that is great! I weigh 160 pounds now, so another 10 would be great. I am definitely staying on this pill."

For Birth Control "I've had bad luck with birth control over the years. Got prego on a generic pill. Tried Implanon, awful side effects. Three years of that, tried Mirena. No side effects. No pregnancy. Then it 'fell out' and caused hormone problems. Bleeding heavily. Couldn't work for weeks at a time. The only thing that made the bleeding stop was the Depo shot. Some years later, missed a shot and had my second baby. When the bleeding started again, went back to Depo. But couldn't lose weight. Tried coming off Depo last year and using a BC pill and nearly ended up in the hospital. Had to get one more shot. Waited three months for the cycle to end. Then gyno started me on Lo Loestrin Fe for the first time in eight years. I have had regular periods that only last three to five days with no crazy bleeding. Lost 32 lbs since finally coming off Depo and no serious changes to my depression or anxiety. The only downside is I get my period during the third week of my pack, but at least it's consistent. Finally feel normal and won't ever use another BC again!"

For Birth Control "I am finishing my 2nd packet, and I am loving it so far. On my first pack, I had spotting in my 3rd week, then a very light period. I have not had any spotting in the second pack, and my period is VERY light. I used to have horrible cramps and heavy bleeding. This has worked out great for me."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Lo Loestrin Fe for 2 months now and have only had one week of no spotting. The non-stop bleeding is very aggravating because I am unsure when my period begins, which has always been very regular. I have also been very irritable and emotional. The only positive effect I have experienced while taking this pill is no severe nausea. If the bleeding and mood swings have not stopped by the time I finish the third pack, I will be switching immediately!"

For Birth Control "I started taking Lo Loestrin Fe 3 weeks ago. I did have breakthrough bleeding, don't give up or get worried, it will stop once your body gets used to it. I really love this pill, I am not retaining water and I have no weight gain. Other pills make you gain weight and get hungry - not this one. I would recommend this highly."

For Birth Control "I have had horrible experiences with birth control, they made me emotionally crazy. This birth control is awesome! The first month I had spotting for a couple of weeks, but by the second pack it all went away, and my periods are around 3 days and light. I used to have heavy, heavy bleeding and barely be able to get out of bed. This has been great for me!"

For Birth Control "So far, no complaints. I just started month 4 of being on this pill. The first month was strange. A lot of breakthrough bleeding, but it wasn't terrible. Month two was a lot better. Sex drive is about the same, if not better! My periods are so light and almost nonexistent. I haven't noticed any type of weight gain with this pill. My mood hasn't changed much, occasionally I'll be emotional, but it happens. Everyone is different, and this may not be for everyone. For me, this pill works, and I love it!"

For Birth Control "I started this pill in April and started off with some side effects. I was getting a lot more irritable just randomly, breakthrough bleeding throughout the month, and my sex drive decreased a lot. The side effects were worse during the first month I was on it, but they gradually started getting better. It made my period even more irregular, though, and my mood started to decline a lot, so I brought it up with my doctor, and they said it would probably be best to change it. I didn’t have a horrible experience on this pill, but it just wasn’t the right fit for me. If you’re about to start this pill and see all the scary reviews, don’t fear because your body may react differently!!"

For Birth Control "I am 15 years old, and I was put on this birth control because I have extremely heavy periods. I'm going on my 3rd month of this birth control, and I've had very little negative side effects. I lost weight and am continuing to lose weight (I've lost about 13-14 pounds right now) on this. I've had a decreased appetite, and I've noticed I'm full sooner. I didn't have any mood swings or nausea. My acne cleared up majorly, and my face is completely clear now! I had moderate cystic acne, and now it's completely gone! The only negative side effect for me is I've had breakthrough bleeding for about 37 days, so my gyno wants to switch me. I can't say anything about the effectiveness as a birth control, as I'm not sexually active. I recommend!"

For Birth Control "Started Lo to manage perimenopause symptoms. At first, it made me bleed a lot, gave me terrible cramps, and made me cry for two days straight. About one month in, my peri symptoms got much better! I feel like myself again. And as of right now, I do not have negative side effects."

For Birth Control "I would give this birth control a rating of 0 if I could! This is absolutely the WORST medicine I’ve ever taken in my whole life!!! This is the first birth control I’ve been on, and it has done nothing good for me. This pill gave me excruciating cramps (worse cramps than I had before taking Lo Loestrin Fe), terrible mood swings, and I have had breakthrough bleeding 3 weeks out of the month for the past YEAR. It’s almost as if my body has never adjusted to this low-dosage medicine. I had anxiety/depression before I started taking this medicine, and this past year has been absolutely awful for me emotionally and mentally. This is NOT the right birth control for you if you already have anxiety or depression. I cannot believe I have waited this long to realize all of my problems came from this birth control. I do not recommend it at all."

For Birth Control "I love you all for your honest reviews and feel relieved that I am not alone! I was on Lo Loestrin FE years ago and did not notice too many side effects except nausea and some breakthrough bleeding. I am now peri-menopausal and am taking this instead of HRT, but it has caused months of steady nausea, pain in my lower back, extreme breast tenderness, and even terrible gas! It took me a while to put together that all these side effects were caused by this BC. Additionally, I began to feel depressed, anxious, and even suicidal. This is not like me! I took the last 'blue pill' today and am done with this medicine forever. I'll take my chances with hot flashes and insomnia or switch back to HRT instead of being on this med again."

"What people don't realize is that everybody has different reactions to medication. Our bodies are all different, therefore, what might cause one person a great deal of sickness may be very beneficial to another person. It's just a fact of life. Example: I had some of the worst side effects on Depo that nobody could imagine, whereas some girls have no problem with it. Anyway, I've been on Lo Loestrin Fe for 5 years now, and I love it. My periods have completely stopped, and I seldom have breakthrough bleeding (when I do, it's a couple of dots). My boobs went from a 32B to a 32D. I also suffer from depression my entire life, and this medicine has had no effect on it either. I won't stop taking Lo Loestrin Fe for a long time!"

For Birth Control "I started this BC for severe bleeding, and it was a horrible experience. I am 33 years old, and this is the worst BC pill I have ever used. I bled for 12 days straight during my first period while on this pill. It has also caused my face to break out horribly and awful mood swings. It has also caused me to be severely bloated. I would not recommend this to anyone."
