For Birth Control "I love this birth control! For years I have suffered from horrible bleeding, menstrual cramps that kept me in bed for a day or two, and sometimes vomiting. I have been on Lo Loestrin for 4 months. I get no period and no cramps. I wish I would have tried it sooner. I did spot for two months, but just a tiny bit. The downfall is it's very expensive. Luckily, my doctor gave me a year of samples. I am over 40 and actually do nothing getting my period for the first time ever."

For Birth Control "Look, you're going to read all of these 'DON'T TAKE THIS PILL' reviews, and the truth of the matter is you don't know until you try it. Everyone's body is different and will react differently to medication. So, don't let these bad reviews scare you away. Try it, if you don't like it, you can change it. Now to my review. I got this pill as a trial to see if I liked it. I ended up loving it. I had very few side effects. I think the most I had was a headache and nausea. Oh, and about 2 weeks of breakthrough bleeding. But of course, my insurance doesn't cover it... If it did, I wouldn't be switching. The only crap thing about it is the price if it's not covered by insurance, which is $171."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill, Lo Loestrin Fe, for about a month. Before I started the pill, I didn’t get my period for 4 months. After being on the pill for 3 weeks, I got my period. I take the pill at the same time every day and I don’t have any crazy symptoms. I have been bleeding for 5 days, so I’m waiting to see how long it lasts. But I have not suffered any wild symptoms! I do recommend taking the pill, if you don’t like it, you could always stop whenever. Remember, not everyone will have the same symptoms, so don’t get discouraged by what you see on here because when I first saw these reviews, I was very scared to try the pill, but I decided to do it anyway."

For Birth Control "This pill is great! I'm super sensitive to birth control pills, and this is the only one I've ever felt normal on. I would definitely recommend it to anyone! I did have breakthrough bleeding the first few months, but that seems to have cleared up. No actual periods, really, which is amazing. Also, it is indeed an experience, BUT the ACA under Obamacare has made it affordable. I was paying high out-of-pocket prices for it, but I called my insurance, and they told me I needed to have my doctor call and tell them it's the one I need to be on, and then they would cover it for $0/month! So, thank God for that. Definitely check with your insurance and pharmacist! They are full of helpful information!"

For Birth Control "Reading these comments is actually the most scary thing I think anyone trying a new birth control could do. I have been on Lo Loestrin Fe for 5 years now, and honestly, I have very little remembrance of what I was like before the pill, so I could be biased, but I feel that I have had a pretty good experience. I rarely have my period, and when I do, it is super light (maybe 3-4 days). I never broke out. I didn’t gain weight. I would say I am super emotional, but I also never thought to blame it on the birth control. After 5 years of feeling certain ways, I also know how to control my emotions and blame them on hormones. I am now switching to a new birth control for one of the reasons being just in the past 6 months I have experienced cramps getting worse and a bit of breakthrough bleeding, and honestly, I just want to try something new! Each birth control is different for everyone, and I know it takes time to adjust, so I would definitely say give it a try!"

For Birth Control "Just when I thought that this birth control was working great..... Boy was I wrong. The first week I was feeling great, no side effects, no problems..... life was great. Then week 2 hit and everything went to hell. Now I'm bleeding uncontrollably. It's been 3 straight weeks. Guess what? I AM STILL BLEEDING! I have gained weight in my sides making me look like I've just consumed a baker's dozen donuts. I am emotionally unstable, as you can tell from this review......!!!!! I am hungry all the time, I am eating everything I can get my meaty hands on, and my snack supply has depleted by 2/3. My sex drive is GONE like a bird that hit the damn window. Unless you want your life to be turned upside down in a month like mine was.... DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL!"

For Birth Control "The first and only hormonal birth control I've tried, and it's A+ for me. I've been on it for a few months now, and the only side effect I've had is my boobs getting noticeably larger and fuller. I haven't experienced any weight gain or mood swings, and I haven't had a period since I started it! I experienced a tiny bit of breakthrough bleeding the first month, and then it was smooth sailing from there. My skin is completely clear of acne, and I feel like I don't break out as easily as I used to. My sex drive has also been through the roof, although I did still have a high libido before starting the pill. Overall, I find this to be a great pill, and it feels great not having to buy tampons anymore!"

For Birth Control "This is my second time around on this. I took it about 3 years ago for a full year and totally loved it, hence why I got back on it. This time it was a much different experience. The 3 months I was on it was constant breakthrough bleeding pretty much every single day. About 8-10 lbs weight gain (fairly active, in my late 20s, eat clean). Sex drive was nonexistent. No acne, thankfully. I also experienced some depression, never suicide but just down and blue most days. I am switching to Microgestin Fe 1/20 because my OB said Lo Loestrin may have been too low of a dosage for me."

For Birth Control "I am on my 3rd month and have had breakthrough bleeding half of the time, except the week my period is supposed to be. I was put on this because I am in my 40s, and the doctor said I should reduce my pill strength. I've been using birth control pills for my entire adult life, except for maybe 5 years when I was trying to get pregnant. This non-stop bleeding is affecting my mood, my attitude, my attention span. Based on all of the comments, either this pill works well after the first month or doesn't. My doctor keeps telling me that it will just take time, but there has been no change for the last 2 months. I don't know how to convince my doctor that this is not the pill for me."

For Birth Control "I'm on my 9th day of the pill and feel depressed and have been crying nonstop. I had to call in to work because of this. I have gained 6 lbs in the last 9 days and have no sex drive. I have been bleeding for 9 days now and there are no signs of that letting up anytime soon. This is severely atypical for me. I am usually the happiest person you will meet and now I can't stop crying."

For Birth Control "I'm 20, and I've been on this birth control for about a year, and it's been nothing short of fantastic! The low dose is great, I get no noticeable side effects like I did on some of the higher dose generics, which were pretty bad. I also love not getting periods... I'll maybe have one day of light bleeding every once in a while. Highly recommend! Lo Lo is awesome!"

For Birth Control "I've been taking Lo Loestrin for 5 months now. My body has not adjusted to this dumb pill. I've had 2 weeks of periods, one week without bleeding, then I start again. I'm feeling depressed, all I want to do is cry. I haven't had sex with my husband because of the bleeding, and all we've been doing is fighting. I hate this pill. I'm done taking this damn pill, it's no good."

For Birth Control "I would say I've had an overall good experience. I just took my last pill from my first pack. It was a little rocky at first. I did experience some unusual heavy bleeding that lasted about 10 days mid-way through the pack. But it has calmed down. I've had no mood swings or emotional/mental side effects. My weight is pretty much the same, and I didn't get sick or have headaches. I'm just going to monitor the bleeding on my next pack of pills. I also have to see if my insurance will cover it. I got my first three packs from my ob-gyn as samples to see if I like it. I'm going to continue using it, and I'll update you guys in 28 days lol. I hope this helped someone."

For Birth Control "I've been trying to find the right birth control for me for about three years now, and this is by far my favorite! I've been on it for three months, and it's helped me a lot with my cramps. I barely even have any, and when I do, they are very manageable. I didn't gain any weight, and I didn't have any breakouts. I did have some mood swings in the first month, but by the second month, I didn't have any. I did have a little breakthrough bleeding the first month, but that only lasted about two days. I just finished my third pack, and I have to say, it's amazing. I didn't have any cramps, and I also didn't have a period! YAY! It's a keeper."

For Birth Control "I will be finishing my first pack next week. My only complaint so far is that I've had a lot of mid-cycle bleeding. This is the 10th day of my period, with no signs of slowing down. I know that it can take a while for your body to adjust to a new birth control pill, so I'm going to stick with it for a few months. Other than the bleeding, I've had mild breast tenderness and some bloating. Like I said, it is only my first pack, so hopefully these side effects are short-term."

For Birth Control "When I first started taking Lo Loestrin Fe, it was the first birth control pill I had taken, so I was expecting to become a little moody (which had subsided after about two weeks), but besides that, I was completely fine. The first month on the pill, I had a little breakthrough bleeding (very little brown discharge-only for a couple of days), and this too had subsided after the first month. Ever since then, I have had no period, no weight gain, no cramps, no breakthrough bleeding, no spotting, no nothing!"

For Birth Control "This was my first birth control, but I've got to say that it is probably the best birth control you can get since it has the lowest dosage of estrogen, which means you have the least side effects. Since it has such a low dosage, it's pretty dang pricey. The first month on this birth control is rough, and your first period will be a very bad period if you react to it like I did. I was bedridden from cramps, and I bled a lot, but honestly I was used to it since the reason I'm taking it is because of nasty periods. After the first period, it was amazing. My periods lasted 3-4 days, barely any bleeding, zero cramps, and I had no side effects! No weight gain, no acne, no mood swings, or nausea. It's wonderful. I highly recommend this birth control."

For Birth Control "The first month was great! It really helped with my PMS mood swings, which were awful! Had a short period with regular bad cramps but was elated that it helped my depressive mood swings, which is why I started taking it. Now I'm in my 2nd month, on my 2nd week and am bleeding and bloated! Feeling more bloated than usual too. Have been bleeding for four days now. Am hoping it will stop and even out because the aiding of my former mood swings is wonderful!"

For Birth Control "Have not stopped bleeding since I started the pill 3 weeks ago today. I have gained 10 lbs, and the nonstop bleeding is enough to make me go back to my painful irregular periods. I am stopping the pill immediately."

"Well, at first I thought this pill was going to be pretty good. I was having trouble with my other birth control because my hormones were all out of whack. So, within the first week, I had breakthrough bleeding, which was normal, I guess. And then I started becoming irritable, like super irritable, and it was strange. It was like PMS x10. I was at like 120, and now I'm 137 lbs. I have horrible mood swings, I snap for no reason, I'm hungry all the time, and not to mention the weight gain!"

For Birth Control "I started this Lo Loestrin Fe birth control when I was 18 and am now 25. When I first started this pill, I had breakthrough bleeding/spotting all the time for probably the first 6 months. It wasn’t the best, but I stuck it out to let my body adjust. I love this pill now. No weight changes, no period, it’s as if my body isn’t taking anything, but I’m protected from getting pregnant. Overall, everyone’s body is different. You can’t try a birth control based on someone else’s experience. What works for someone’s body might not work for you and vice versa. This pill has worked amazingly for me, and I love it. But you should try it for yourself and see how your body reacts."

For Birth Control "This is the third oral contraceptive I have been put on in my lifetime (I am 24). I am on my third month on LoLo (Lo Loestrin Fe) and was hoping by now my body would be adjusted to it, but I have had a week of spotting in the middle of each pack. I am currently halfway through my third pack and am bleeding enough to need a tampon. I still have been getting a light/medium period at the end of the pack as well, so basically, I am getting my period twice a month. The only positive thing so far is that I have lost about 7 pounds while on it, but I am not sure if that is because of the birth control. I have also had 3 anxiety attacks since starting this pill, and it has given me more acne around my chin. I wanted to give this pill a fair chance before leaving my review, but being at almost 3 full months on it, I do not believe it is for me and will be switching to something that hopefully does not make me bleed so much."

For Birth Control "Do not take this pill!!!! This is the worst birth control experience I have ever had!!! I've been on it for 5 months now, and within the first month, I was extremely depressed, and it lasted for 3 months. I didn't want to get out of bed, lost interest in everyday activities, and was very sad every single day. In the 4th month, I was not as depressed, but still have mood swings from months 4 to 5, and am very emotional. I started the pill due to heavy cycles, and my cycles are light on the pill, but I am also bleeding all the time in between cycles now. I can't even have sex without bleeding. It is extremely uncomfortable and embarrassing. I have gained 7 pounds in less than 5 months. My blood pressure is also super high now. I tried to give the pill some time for my body to get used to it, but I can't do this anymore. I've already gone to my doctor to request a different pill to start once this month's pack is done. This pill is poison!!!!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Lo Loestrin Fe for almost a year now. I really haven't had very many side effects with it. The one thing that's been a major problem is inconsistency with my periods, which was a problem before I started taking birth control too. There have been months when I haven't had a period at all, and others when I've had a period as well as breakthrough bleeding mid-month. I'm switching to a pill with a little bit more estrogen in it to see if that will regulate my period better. I haven't missed any pills, and I take them within two hours of one another every day. I was initially really worried about nausea being an issue, so I take them at night - but I've had no problems. I did have some breast tenderness for the first few months, but it's gone now."

For Birth Control "I have a history of anxiety and depression and have been actively working toward losing weight, so I was fairly nervous about starting Lo Loestrin Fe. I had read many reviews here and saw that others experienced many difficult side effects. My first night, I experienced a severe mood swing. As soon as I realized that I had no idea how I had gotten so upset, though, it became easier to shake off. I'm one month in and have experienced some light breakthrough bleeding and sometimes have a hard time shaking off sad thoughts. But overall, I've been very pleased. No daily side effects, and I've continued to lose weight."
