For Menstrual Disorders "I had been taking Lo Losterin before starting Junel FE but had to switch per my insurance. I've been taking Junel since late July, but since starting it, I've been hoping I would start feeling better. Constantly feeling nausea is the #1 problem for me. It doesn't matter how accurately I take the medication, at some point in every day, I feel sick. And then I start to get paranoid and wonder if I'm pregnant and feeling morning sickness. #2 is the irregular periods. I've never had a period that was consistent, so I thought this would be a good way to regulate - boy, was I wrong! My period will start in the middle of my active pills, be there for 3 days, and then come back for 3 days on my iron pills. WHAT THE HECK, Vern?"

For Birth Control "This pill literally made me miserable. Obviously, everybody is different, but I felt absolutely awful the entire time I was taking it. Almost immediately after starting this pill, I began to have vicious headaches for days at a time. I also felt nauseous for a good portion of the day and had no appetite. Maybe because of this, my energy basically disappeared, and all I wanted to do was sleep. I also started retaining a ton of water, which made me feel even more lethargic. I continued to bleed and have cramps throughout the entire pack, and I would frequently feel dizzy. On top of all of this, my mood was all over the place, and I started having anxiety that manifested as tightness in my chest and difficulty breathing."

For Birth Control "Was prescribed this for bad cramps and super heavy periods. Helped a little bit, but overall, the side effects made it not worth it. Intense mood changes, weight gain, and regular nausea and vomiting, which all subsided when I stopped the pill."

For Birth Control "My wife was put on Junel by her OB doctor and only took it for about one week. It made her feel extremely sick - nausea, vomiting, and flu-like symptoms. During the one week that she was taking Junel, she ended up developing a blood clot that went to both her lungs and was hospitalized with bilateral pulmonary embolisms. Luckily, she recognized that something was wrong and went straight to the ER and was diagnosed quickly and started on anticoagulants, which she now gets to take for 6 months to 2 years. The doctors state that Junel was definitely a contributing factor to the blood clots. People frequently die from pulmonary embolisms if not treated in time, and now my wife is at a higher risk for future clots... Think twice before using Junel."

For Birth Control "So I got on this pill because all my friends have babies, and I was like, no way. Lol. No. So I just want to say my first four days went great. Skin was clearing. Appetite curbed. Great. Day five hit, and so did the dizziness and migraines and random nausea. I ignored it because all my friends said it’s normal. Then I got my period again. Extremely dark blood. Now, day six I'm ending taking it. When I say my body is a 12/10 on pain, I mean I can’t leave bed without puking. I’ve cried all day. Leaking dark brown blood. No sex drive at all. Migraines. Everything. Worst decision ever. I can’t even eat. I’m hoping I can recover quickly from this torture I put my poor body through."

For Birth Control "Doctor prescribed Junel Fe 1/20 for uterine fibroids to stop bleeding until I have my hysterectomy in Dec. He told me to start off with 2 pills a day and then go to 1 a day. As soon as I started taking it, it made me so sick I couldn't even function. The nausea was unbearable. Also, yesterday I began experiencing SEVERE cramping in my pelvic area, back, and down my left thigh to the point where I could barely walk. I have stopped taking this pill and will not return. I also have had EXTREME mood swings. Today I'm still having extreme pelvic cramping. The issue is I wasn't having any problems before this, just longer than normal periods due to the fibroid. No cramping or nothing."

For Birth Control "My wife has been taking birth control for over a year, and out of the blue, her doctor switched her to Junel Fe. Things seemed fine at first for her, but then after a couple of months of it, she started having headaches almost regularly. She would never have headaches in the past. She also describes the general feeling of just never feeling well in her head, like always feeling foggy. Her energy has been very low. After only working for 3 hours, she is exhausted and cranky. She also gained a bit of weight. We go to the gym 3 times a week, but she never sees any progress with her weight. She also hasn’t been dealing with her stress well at all, and she has been getting very anxious to the point where she can’t sleep at night. And the nausea... She gets car sick easily, but it has been getting worse. After reading these reviews, I will get her to read it and suggest she stop taking it. I hope within the next couple of weeks, she starts to feel better."

For Birth Control "Do not take this pill! I took it for a week, and it gave me a lot of chest pressure and a rapid heart rate, and I was super nauseous. I couldn’t sleep for four nights straight because of my rapid heart rate. I did not like the feeling that I was going through. I truly do not recommend this birth control."

For Birth Control "I use birth control to treat endometriosis and "mittelschmerz" (pain associated with ovulation). I was on Microgestin for about a year, but was switched to Junel. Initially, sex on Junel was painful and I had issues with vaginal dryness that flared back up. While taking the placebos, I did get an increase in my sex drive, but after taking them, I experienced side effects: I have nausea, unprovoked, almost every day. Also, bloating, cramping, and unstable emotions. Recently, I spot between periods. I don’t want to do things I usually enjoy. My ability to feel full seems gone, but I haven’t had significant weight gain or loss. I’ve had vision problems, mainly episodes of temporary loss of lower peripheral vision in my left eye. Personally, I will be asking my gynecologist to put me back on Microgestin. But I wouldn’t discourage anyone from trying Junel. I didn’t have major side effects, besides sex-related, until after taking the placebos."

For Birth Control "I absolutely love this pill! Had Nexplanon, and that was just too much for me because the hormones were so high. The doctor prescribed me on this, was hesitant at first because I’ve had bad experiences with other BC pills. But I love this one! I’ve always had a regular period, but this pill made my periods very light, less pain while cramping, and an increase in libido, lol, which my husband and I don’t mind at all. But the downside is the bloating and I had nausea when I first started. But I switched to taking it at night, which helped with the nausea. Love this pill."

For Birth Control "I am on week 2 and have been experiencing the onset of severe fatigue and nausea on and off. I'm working through it, but I haven't had these kinds of side effects before when taking birth control pills. I'm going to weather through it and see if it gets better. My GP said it should take 3 months to adjust, and then we will reevaluate if I should adjust the dosage or try a different one."

For Birth Control "I started taking this pill about 5 months ago to regulate my period. 10 days, sometimes super late or early, extreme headaches, cramping, nausea, and vomiting from pain. This pill helped regulate my periods very well. Reading through these other bad experiences, it's weird. I've noticed nothing wrong. No acne, no weight loss or gain... mood swings are unsure, mainly because I had a traumatic incident in July and then again just 2 weeks ago, along with having chronic illnesses. Same with the sex drive; I haven't noticed much due to not paying attention and then a traumatic experience. I personally really like it, although the extra iron is pointless."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Junel for over a decade. I was diagnosed with endometriosis when I was 17, and have been on continuous birth control since then (as in no periods. My pill packs are 3 weeks each). Junel has absolutely been successful in stopping my period (thus stopping the spread of endometriosis), but I’m wondering how much it has impacted pretty much every other element of my life. In the past decade, I’ve been hospitalized twice for depression and continue to experience anxiety. I have bouts of unexplained nausea and vomiting. Now, out of nowhere, I have gained 10+ lbs, despite the fact I am the most active/healthiest I’ve ever been, I’m breaking out with horrible acne, and I feel like I’m going through puberty all over again. Obviously, all these things could have other causes, but based on others’ reviews, I’m becoming extremely suspicious. Junel has improved my quality of life in some sense, but decreasing it in others. Def going to talk to my PCP about switching."

For Birth Control "Switched to this pill because I moved states and they didn’t carry my previous pill. First month on it, I was consistently nauseous. After month two, then being on month three, I have noticed my depression/anxiety getting worse. I also notice cramps starting on week two of my pack and lasting through the next two weeks. I plan on switching to a new pill ASAP."

For Birth Control "My insurance stopped covering LoLoestrin, so my doctor switched me to Junel. I've been taking it for 3 months, but I'm stopping today. It has caused so many problems for me. The main issue is the extreme stomach cramps accompanied by nausea. I had to leave work this morning because I was so sick, and when I texted my boss later, I noticed that the last time I was this sick was exactly one month ago. It was like a lightbulb went off, so I started researching. I now realize it's not just the stomach issues. My depression and anxiety have gotten worse. I've had bouts of itching that I assumed were yeast infections. All of this started happening when I started taking Junel. I will never take it again."

For Birth Control "I started taking Junel Fe 1/20 about 2 weeks ago, and the side effects are unbearable for me. I’m bloated almost every day, and it makes my depression worse than before. I’ve gained almost 10 pounds, and it’s extremely uncomfortable, not to mention the crazy nausea and mood swings I’ve gotten since the day after I started taking it. Do yourself a favor and don’t get this BC."

For Birth Control "I started Lo Loestrin Fe about 5 months ago, which I hated so much, gained about 10 pounds, and was constantly tired, and mood swings were crazy. It was so expensive too, so I switched to Junel Fe 1/20. At first, I loved it (the first three months). Now I just started my 4th month pack, and I've had the worst cramping and nausea the week before my period, and ever since I got my period, and even when my period is gone, it's so uncomfortable. My periods are lighter than ever, and I've had no acne. But this cramping and mood swings and sad thoughts are just about enough to stop taking BC."

For Birth Control "I've been on Junel Fe 24 going on 3 months, and I can't wait to go off of it. I have very painful periods, and I wanted to go back on birth control after being off for 2 years (previously on Lo Loestrin, and it was great). My first couple of weeks taking it, I was nauseous on and off. I had my first period during the iron pills like I should, but then I had it again 2 weeks later for over a week. During my periods, I had a few days of cramping, but not as bad as I had before (the only good part). I'm 24 years old, and my sex drive is nonexistent, that's the main reason I need to switch. I'm also getting very sad and emotional over nothing. I tried to give it a chance and tough it out, hoping it would get better, but it's not. I'm switching ASAP."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed this medication to help lower my slightly elevated prolactin level, and boy was this pill the worst thing I EVER took! This pill made me sick to my stomach every day: nausea, vomiting, dizzy, lightheaded, you name it - I felt it. I had to take 3 days off from work just to recuperate and ended up having to take my anticonvulsant medication so I don’t seize up from the side effects. PLEASE ladies, if you don’t have to take this, don’t!!!! There are so many other BC options out there. I’m going back to the Nuvaring ASAP."

For Birth Control "I feel like I’ve been on my period most of the time during the 3 months of taking these pills. I definitely noticed the side effects during the second month. Decreased my sex drive, made me super emotional and sensitive. Like, why am I crying over a burnt waffle? Then the nausea and fatigue started. I thought I was pregnant for a minute, but then I started bleeding for another two weeks, so that was somewhat of a relief. Here I am finishing month three, and let me just say, I will definitely not be taking any more."

For Birth Control "I have been on Junel Fe for 3 months after taking Larin Fe for 3 months. It depends so much on the person because Larin Fe was really awful for me (amplified anxiety and depression symptoms, increased acne when I was trying to have less acne, extreme increase in discharge). However, taking Larin Fe was really awesome for me personally as I have way fewer breakouts, no anxiety or depression symptoms, etc. The one thing I will say is that it makes me very nauseous once or twice a month (typically at bedtime). Depend on your doctor and your body and not these reviews."

For Birth Control "I spent 7 years on Junel, and I’m sad I can’t get those years back. The pros: clear skin, no weight gain, no periods, and obviously no pregnancy. The cons: extreme anxiety and depression, constantly feeling like I was in a fog and not really there (just going through the motions of life), no sex drive, vaginal dryness during sex, bloating after eating, nausea in the mornings, low energy, always tired, night sweats, insomnia, constipation, dry hair and skin, headaches a few times a month, very high blood pressure. I’m a completely different person since stopping and will never take hormonal contraceptives ever again."

For Birth Control "I have good and bad things to say about this birth control. I got on it at age 15 to help with my period symptoms. I have recently become sexually active, and it has so far prevented pregnancy. I experience a light period, yet it is still sometimes painful. The worst thing for me has to be my breast tenderness and my nausea when I take it in the morning. I have anxiety and depression problems, and I'm trying to figure out if it's because of the pill or not."

For Birth Control "Okay, before I say anything, this birth control can be great for you and bad for me. Everybody is different, but for those that can relate, read away. I was on Loloestrin before this birth control, and that was awful, way worse than this. But in April, I decided to change and go onto this birth control. First month, I was really nauseous, and my anxiety was really bad. My period was okay, every day before my period, I get a really bad migraine, sometimes even a few. For a few months, I was fine, but then I felt as though I was having awful panic attacks. I was anxious over everything. I felt so different and not myself at all. No motivation and feeling as though my life would be like this forever. I began having awful thoughts and anxiety through the roof. I couldn't watch movies about people with mental illness anymore because it made me have panic attacks. If you are experiencing mental health problems from this pill or any pill, you should immediately get off of it."
