For Birth Control "I loved this birth control, contrary to everyone else who's written a review. I took this pill for 2 years straight, and for me it worked wonders - I gained weight in all the right places (breasts and butt), it prevented pregnancy, and I had clearer skin. My only complaint was that after I began the pill, my period stopped completely for the entire duration that I took the pill (2 years). Overall, I had no ill side effects like nausea or headaches, and it worked great for me! I would highly recommend."

For Birth Control "I was only on the Junel 1/20 pill for a week, and I had to stop taking it. It made me so sick all day, every day. Although I only threw up once during that period, I was constantly nauseous. I got bloated, my mood swings were terrible, like bouncing off the walls terrible, and my face broke out so bad. I know the pill affects everyone differently, but I do not recommend this pill."

For Birth Control "DO NOT GET SCARED BY THE REVIEWS!!!! My best advice is EVERYBODY is different. I read the reviews on this medication and got so scared and called my doctor and begged to switch before starting it. She told me to start and if anything goes wrong, we can just switch it. My experience: First pack: I did have some slight nausea within the first week, it wasn't too bad. I was still able to get through my days of going to school and work. Second week: light breakthrough bleeding, nothing traumatic. Got my period during placebo week as planned, no harsh symptoms. I am used to my period being very heavy, lasting a whole week with terrible cramps and acne. I experienced none of that!! A plus, I had slight acne, and this medicine cleared it right up."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this pill for 9 months. I don’t know how I made it through the first three months because I was constantly dizzy, nauseous, throwing up, I gained 10 pounds, and I started feeling sad and irritated all the time. Well, it’s 9 months now, and most of the symptoms have gone away, but I am still really depressed. My mood swings are off the charts, and I lack motivation for anything. It regulated my period, which is really great, but I don’t think it’s worth my mental health. I’m going off it."

For Birth Control "I have taken Junel Fe 1/20 for two months primarily as a method of birth control. So far, I have had a few episodes of mild nausea and one more serious episode where the nausea was nearly immobilizing and accompanied by harsh pelvic pain and spotting. I have had some mood swings and low feelings -- though I experienced this prior in the form of PMS, too. My breasts seem slightly larger, though I have not gained weight otherwise. Prior to taking Junel Fe 1/20, I had very occasional breakouts, which I am still experiencing. I experienced spotting and light bleeding on the active pills -- which will hopefully subside as the hormones regulate."

For Birth Control "I have never in my life had such serious side effects with any prescription like I have with this. I took it for a total of 10 days before I had to stop. At day 4, I had 3 pretty severe anxiety attacks. Days 4-10, I experienced really bad mood swings, hard crying for no reason, and at day 10, I was put into the deepest depression I've ever experienced, to the point where I had to go to a friend's house as I was worried about self-harm. I am serious. The most horrific feelings, and I'm on day 2 of not taking it, and I'm nauseous, have a headache that won't go away, and my chest hurts from the anxiety that I am feeling."

For Birth Control "I am only on the beginning of week two, however, I've never had a lower sex drive in my life. I've also never been more nauseous in my life. I throw up nightly. Took a pregnancy test, and I'm not pregnant. Unless it gets better after this packet of pills, I'll be calling my pharmacist to switch to a different type of birth control."

For Birth Control "I’ve been taking this pill for about 9 months and have had no problems at all. I used to have pretty annoying acne, but over time, this pill has slowed down the amount of pimples I get. My period is VERY predictable. During my “no pill” week, I start with 2 days of no period, 4 days of light to medium flow, one day with no period, then start a new pack. That’s how it’s worked for months, and I’m grateful. No cramps, no breakthrough bleeding, no super heavy flow, no nausea, no headaches, or anything like that. I feel like my face has gotten chubbier, but I haven’t gained any actual weight, so not sure what to make of that. In terms of mood, I’ve always been a very emotional person, so I won’t attribute that to Junel. I’ve been anxious and depressed for years, and I don’t think this has made it any better or worse."

For Birth Control "I've been on it for nearly two months now. The first month was fine, and my period was amazing. I normally have awful periods with so much pain I vomit and heavy bleeding, but the pill made all of that stop. But now, going on month two, there isn't a day that goes by where I don't feel ill. Dizzy, nauseous, headaches, mood swings, really weird dissociation, abdominal pain, and cramping – I'm going to stop taking the pill immediately because I can't take it. I would rather have a week a month of an awful period than feel like this every day. I might try another kind of birth control, but I'm hesitant because I don't want to go through this again, and I'm only using it to regulate my period, so I'm honestly not sure if it's worth it."

For Birth Control "I'm so glad I finally read reviews about this pill, and people are not lying when they say it's the worst. I recently found out that I have vertigo, but I was dealing with what I thought were vertigo symptoms for much longer than my doctor said they would last. The symptoms of this pill and vertigo are extremely similar. I am constantly lightheaded. Almost every day. Sometimes to the point where I can't even drive. It makes me nauseous. I can't focus at work. And if you think people who said it gives them mood swings were being dramatic, they're not. I have anxiety attacks on a regular basis. I've most definitely gained weight and have seen my acne get worse. DON'T TAKE THIS PILL!"

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control (BC) for about 6 months. (I used to be on Gildess, but it has been discontinued from the factory, and this one was a perfect match.) I feel like this BC has made my depression and anxiety worse. I still experience mild nausea. My face breaks out, and they seem to stay there. I’m always emotional and agitated. I get cramps, but they are minimal. My periods are light, but they are a brownish color. I’m going to stop it because I want to see if my depression gets better or maybe try a new birth control. I wish they would bring back Gildess."

For Birth Control "I initially came to this website when I knew I would be taking this drug, and I got worried after seeing all the dramatic reviews here. Honestly, this drug has caused me little to no side effects. Everyone is different, I suppose. I am just getting through my first pack. I recommend taking it at night if you’re worried about nausea or drowsiness, and plus, it’s easier to remember then. In my first month, I have had no change to my sex drive, if anything, I had an increase. I did notice my discharge is only or mostly white. And my breasts do feel heavier and are sensitive. I broke out with maybe one or two pimples at first, and now my skin is completely clear. It is a bit drier than usual. I highly recommend this as a birth control and for period cramps. My period on this is so light and painless-which was one of the main reasons for my use."

For Birth Control "3 YEAR USER: I suffer from endometriosis, and my doctor prescribed me this medication after trying several other forms. For the first year, I suffered migraines, mood swings, severe nausea, and a complete change in appetite. The past two years have been the worst, with the past 9 months being ABSOLUTE HELL!! I have NO SEX DRIVE, and I am 26 years old. I am depressed, feel lazy, cannot read as I could before, I stutter, my memory is bad (I forget things in seconds). I mean, the list goes on. Reading other reviews today, I am considering going cold turkey and just dealing with my endometriosis (as painful as it is)!!! I DO not recommend this at all. I actually recommend NO BIRTH CONTROL and pray for a real cure for endometriosis."

"I started taking Junel FE on Sunday, 10/4. The next morning, I woke up with intense nausea, dizziness, headache, and cramping. I started bleeding on Wednesday, with severe cramps. I also developed GI issues. The nausea, fatigue, and cramping were so intense that I remained in bed Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (10/12). I also felt extremely hungry. Medication did not work to help nausea or cramping. I got a rapid COVID test Tuesday, which was negative, to rule out any other possibility of illness. I did not take the pill Tuesday night (10/13). Today, Wednesday, I was able to get out of bed. I am still bleeding, but I did not take Advil today as my cramps are far less severe. I am less nauseous, and the headache is not as bad. I feel bloated and tired, but I was able to work today. Based on my personal experience, I would not take this birth control and would never recommend it to anyone else. Sorry to everyone else who had to go through this!!"

For Birth Control "Don't do it. Nausea, headaches (severe), heard about the spotting, didn't think it would happen to me, but it did, cramps/abdominal pain. Save yourself. Estrogen made my stomach weak. Really bad mood swings, luckily, my boyfriend is nice. Hungry all the time, empty feeling even after eating. Tired as anything."

For Birth Control "In the first 2-3 weeks, I felt really great! My mood did not change, my sex drive seemed to increase, and my acne lessened a bit. Then I got my period, and it was the worst I’ve ever had. A few days before my period, I was so bloated it was uncomfortable to the point of pain when walking. Through the second month, my acne went back to the way it was before Junel Fe (terrible), I gained 10 pounds (right to the hips and thighs), had no energy, headaches, severe food cravings, nausea, and became depressed and had anxiety. Now at the end of the second month, I had my first ever emotional breakdown, crying for reasons I can’t explain. Prior to Junel Fe, I was birth control-free for 7 months. I had felt the healthiest I had been in my adult life, minus the acne. If you are considering taking this medication, please look for an alternative. I never write reviews but felt I should share my story as I feel very strongly about how terrible this drug is."

For Birth Control "I’m 18, and I started taking this almost 2 years ago when I became sexually active. Since then, I’ve had at least 3 pregnancy scares due to the fact I went almost 3 months with no period, and honestly, as great as that sounds when you’re a sexually active 16-year-old, that stuff freaks you out. I’m pretty sure it also caused me to gain weight since I weighed around 130-140 and now I weigh around 160. Also, I barely ever get my period during the placebo/off week, which also drives me insane considering I have a tendency to freak out. Also, it has made me feel super nauseous the last couple of months, and my boobs are tender a lot, which again FREAKS ME OUT. So, in conclusion, I finally went to my gynecologist and told her I couldn’t handle feeling like that anymore, and I’m finally switching to another pill, which will hopefully make my periods more believable."

For Birth Control "Left a review when I initially started, said I'd update it after a while of taking the pill. PROS: Regulated and lightened period; effective birth control. CONS: Mild increase in acne; slight spotting in the beginning; nausea; cramping. Nausea and cramping got worse the week before, during, and after my period. By the time I got my period during the fourth month, this affected my daily life. Really interrupted my digestive functions - bowel movements ranging from constipation to diarrhea, bloating, general queasiness. On my period during the fifth month, actually vomited. Also exponentially increasing depressed feelings. Never before had these problems on my period. Decided to stop taking it because at this point I just want to be happy and healthy."

For Birth Control "On Junel Fe 1/20, periods became manageable, and I was finally able to wear a tampon without bleeding through. Cramps also went away. I’ve taken the pill religiously for 2 years now, and I cannot complain. However, I recommend taking it with food because it can cause nausea."

For Birth Control "I've been on Junel for 10 months now and have no complaints. I had very mild nausea and mood swings for the first 2 months, but have not experienced these since. My moderate acne has completely cleared up thanks to this pill. My only complaint is that my pack is 21 days with no placebo pills. I wish I had the placebo pills for consistency. Also, I did not gain weight, but I regularly make healthy lifestyle choices and am active."

"It has helped regulate my very erratic periods. I am bleeding less heavily and on schedule versus every six days or so. I feel great. I'm in a good mood generally, and I don't have any headaches or nausea or vomiting. I don't even have any breast tenderness. At 54, I am not concerned about getting pregnant, but this is helping with perimenopause."

For Birth Control "This absolutely did not work for me. I had changed from Gildess to Junel for some reason by the pharmacist. Within a week of starting the pack, I had daily nausea, terrible skin, and became incredibly depressed. I had awful hot flashes while sleeping. Finally, after about 7 months, I stopped taking it and asked for Gildess back. I wish I had asked earlier, within days, I went back to normal and my mood improved tremendously. Would not recommend! If you are experiencing this, get off it ASAP!"

For Birth Control "I had mild water retention (about 5 lbs), moderate bloating with abdominal pain, and persistent diarrhea while taking this pill. The first few days of taking Junel, I had nausea, vertigo, and blurred vision. The nausea and vision problems disappeared within three days, but the other side effects continued with use. I was taking this for endometriosis to try and help relieve my cramps. I was disappointed because instead of having pain only the first couple of days of my period, I was left with daily abdominal pain, and then my period pains were definitely elevated (from an 8 to a 9 on my pain scale). I'm off this pill now, though, because I experienced migraine with aura."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Junel for almost two years, and wow, those first 3 months were TERRIBLE! The nausea, anxiety, mood swings... it was insane! But after 3 months, it all went away. I had light, regular periods. It was really a great pill, I gained maybe 5 lbs on Junel, which wasn’t that bad compared to the 20 lbs on a pill I was on years ago. HOWEVER, the reason I’m going off of it is because I feel like it changed me completely as a person. I feel like I have no emotions, which is terrible because of my patient, loving boyfriend. I feel like this birth control protected me from emotions because I feel so disconnected with the world and myself. Also, this pill ended my sex drive... like *bang* I just can’t feel anything to get aroused. Smh, I hope this all goes away after stopping next week!"
