For Birth Control "I’ve been on this pill Junel Fe 1/20 for a little over three months now after I got switched from Larin. I never had any major side effects - no headaches, nausea, breast tenderness, etc. My cramping has reduced slightly, but not as much as hoped. The biggest problem is if I ever forget to take the pill and have to take two in one day, I end up with severe nausea and vomiting, even if they’re spread apart."

For Birth Control "First off, I began taking this immediately after an abortion because I was terrified to cause another unwanted pregnancy. I am almost 2 months in, and this is the worst feeling ever. I feel EXACTLY how I felt when I got pregnant: nausea, slight headaches, minor depression, increased appetite, random yeast infections. Took 2 pregnancy tests just to make sure! Both negative. I crave food constantly. I gained a good 5-10 pounds since I started it. I've been feeling unmotivated. I've never had an issue with acne, and I break out every day. Everybody's different, so everybody will react differently. By the way MOST of these reviews look, it's only fair to say it doesn't work right for the majority of users."

For Birth Control "I've been on Junel Fe for 9 months now. For the first three months, I experienced nausea and occasional mood swings, it helped with making my period lighter and regularly on time. After the first months, I was fine. Upon month 8, I experienced extreme mood swings and depression. I would pick fights about the smallest things, and I felt crazy for doing so. I became really depressed once I hit month 9 and just could not figure out what was going on. Finally, a friend suggested getting off of Junel Fe, and I have seen an immediate change in my mood even on day 3 of being off the pill. Did not work for me."

For Menstrual Disorders "I was prescribed this to regulate my periods, reduce my cramps, and help with my severe depression around my period. It did none of these things. I was on it for 2 months, and in that time, I got my period every two weeks, broke out horribly all over my face and back, gained ten pounds, and was nauseous every day. My gyno told me to try it out for 3 months, but honestly, the side effects were too miserable to last another month."

For Birth Control "Had the worst side effects ever on Junel Fe 1/20, with severe migraines every single day. I was nauseous as well. I had to go to emergency care once because my blood pressure was high. They said it was my birth control and to get off of it immediately. I’m very healthy and have never felt anything that this birth control (BC) made me feel! Worst BC ever! I did not feel like myself, and nothing seemed to help. That’s how bad it was! I was seeing a therapist for about a month because my hormones were so messed up. I was depressed and had severe anxiety."

For Birth Control "At first, this BC was great. It was the very first type of BC that my doctor prescribed to me, and I had no complaints the first month. When the second month hit, I had missed a day, so the next morning I took two (I had done hours of research on what to do if I missed a day, and that's what it said to do). During that day, I felt a little weird, but I kind of brushed it off. A couple of hours later, I was sitting in class, and it was like the feelings of extreme nauseousness came in huge waves. I had to go home ASAP. When I was walking to the office to dismiss myself, I dry heaved in the middle of the hallway in front of so many people. I was shaking and dizzy and crying, it was awful. This BC just didn't agree with my body. I am now on my 6th month of the Glenmark Norethindrone BC, and I'm doing much better. Norethindrone is a mini pill which only contains one hormone (instead of two)."

For Menstrual Disorders "I have always struggled with severe cramps, lengthy periods, and heavy bleeding. The OB/GYN gave me a sample of Minastrin FE, and it worked wonders: no cramps, light and short periods. I went back to the OB/GYN because of an insurance change and was prescribed Junel Fe. It started out with extreme nausea every night to the point where I couldn't move or I'd gag. Then there was leg pain. My period started, and it was back to the bad cramping, long periods, and heavy bleeding. Very disappointing. Thankfully, I'm being put back on Minastrin. Just because it didn't work for me doesn't mean it won't work for you. I hope everyone has a much better experience."

For Birth Control "I took my first pill before at night, and after 2 hours of taking it, I started to feel dizzy. I could not sleep very well that night either. The next day (about 12 hrs later), I got diarrhea and had really bad nausea and migraine. It caused me to vomit all day long. I couldn't eat or drink anything without throwing it up. I was getting dehydrated, and I had to go to the ER later that night to get fluids. I'm never taking this again!"

For Birth Control "This pill was wonderful at first. Did not experience weight gain, headaches, nausea, etc. I went through my teens without getting one pimple and never struggled with acne until taking Junel. Do not take this! My chin was covered with painful, cystic acne. Even now that I'm off this pill, my face has never fully cleared up."

For Birth Control "Junel Fe 1/20 has been okay. At first, I was ungodly nauseated every day, so I started taking it at night before bed, and I think that's helped. Also, I got extremely depressed at first, which was awful. But it's slowly easing up. My sex drive has entirely gone, though. That's my biggest complaint. Acne is much, much, much better. But my sex drive is shot. Even when I'm trying to be intimate, it's just not the same. Otherwise, after the first 3 weeks, this pill seems to be working fine. It took a little while to work out the kinks, but I'm getting there. I hope my sex life rebounds."

For Birth Control "I know I shouldn’t even be reviewing this medication (I’ve literally only taken it for 4 days) — I read the reviews and thought to myself, “Everyone reacts differently to meds” and “Most people who have a great experience are less likely to write a review than those who have a terrible one.” I’m on day 4, and I’m not sure I can even last another week, never mind 3 months. I’m almost 30 and have been on Loestrin and Sprintec in the past (with little to no issues). My first 2 days were fine, today I feel like I’m dying. I’m nauseous and cramping, can’t get out of bed, I’m already bleeding, I’m bloated and up 4.5 lbs of water weight, I’m crying at literally everything (unlike me), I’m exhausted. I must be having a bad reaction...holy heck, I am miserable. I know I should just wait it out, but I’m bedridden with two toddlers and can’t deal with this whatsoever. Will update if I decide to let my body level out and stick through the 3-month side effect phase."

For Birth Control "Wow, the experience I’ve had on this is so horrible. I’ve been taking Junel Fe for four months, and this is my last week because I’m switching. I’m not the type to leave reviews, but this birth control did NOT work for me. The only pros of this birth control are that my libido didn’t go down at all and I didn’t gain weight (mostly because it made me not hungry & probably added to my eating disorder by giving me immense anxiety). The first couple of weeks, I had migraines, nausea, intense thirst, hunger, and bleeding. Well, fast forward to 4 months on it, and I’m still bleeding (having periods twice a month), still have migraines, experienced the worst anxiety - ever. I can barely eat anything anymore, YEAST INFECTIONS EVERY MONTH & THE SEVERE ACNE IT HAS GIVEN ME. I am serious when I say my acne has never been this bad. Every day I wake up having a mental breakdown over my skin. I tried to wait it out, and the side effects increasingly got worse after my 3-month mark."

For Birth Control "I was on Junel for a year and 3 months. In that time, I have gained approximately 30 pounds. The first 3-4 months were bad, as expected (my doctor said it would take that long to adjust). Breakouts, depression, constant nausea, sore breasts, etc. After that initial period, things did get better, and I started to feel normal again. However, after 6 months, I began to have extremely irregular periods. I would go 3 months with nothing, then have 3 periods within one month. My skin started breaking out again. Worst of all, one week before the gynecologist appointment I made to switch to a different type of birth control, I found out I was pregnant while on Junel Fe!!!"

For Birth Control "I switched to this pill because the generic of Beyaz was awful. My doctor said I should switch to Junel. I had told her I was having stomach issues and nausea. About a month into this pill, and I have spent every day with stomach pain and nausea so severe that I am not always able to work. I was trying to get away from those symptoms, and now they're way worse. Not to mention, I am SOOO moody. I cry at the drop of a pin. I've had clinical depression in the past, and this is just sending me down a bad road. I'm miserable. (Oh, and don't forget the vaginal itchiness.) Long story short, this pill sucks. I miss being on Beyaz (insurance wouldn't cover it anymore)."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Junel Fe 1/20 for a little over a year now, and I am very pleased with it. I was really scared to go on any sort of birth control, this being my first one, because of all the stories of weight gain and bad experiences. Thankfully, I haven't had to switch. I did notice at month six I started getting migraines and was extremely nauseous to the point that strong perfumes made me gag. I thought I was pregnant, after a couple of pregnancy tests, I realized it was just birth control side effects and decided to overlook it and see if it went away. After about a month and a half later, the symptoms subsided, and I haven't felt anything since. Overall, happy with this pill, but I do accept I've been moodier since I've started it."

For Birth Control "I've been on this for over two years. In February 2021, I started having 2 periods per month. I just finished my period per the pill pack on 3/22/21. Then, on 3/30/21, I started to bleed again. I haven't missed any pills. It is now 4/5/21, and I am still spotting dark brown. Not supposed to have my 'real' period until 4/19/21. I'm currently considering just quitting this birth control and making my husband use condoms. My OB-GYN told me that this happens on this low-dose birth control and that if it doesn't end on its own, I should quit taking it for a week and start a new pack or just switch to a higher-dose birth control. Neither of those options sounds good to me. I have headaches often, I'm always exhausted, nausea at odd times. This birth control isn't for me. It never used to do this to me. I don't know what changed, but this is awful."

For Birth Control "This is the third birth control I've taken. I have been on Lo Loestrin for about 3 years, then switched to Minastrin for a year, then stopped. After a year off of BC, I decided to go back on and was prescribed Junel Fe. I too had night sweats, spotting, migraines, lost feeling in limbs, and nausea in the morning. On top of really bad breast tenderness, depression, and my entire body was bloated. I would not advise taking it."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on these pills for 3 months now, and I can honestly say I’ve never had such a terrible experience in my life. I had taken Alyacen (with zero problems or side effects) for almost 6 years and decided it was time to go on a lower dosage, and boy, do I regret it. I was prescribed Junel Fe 1/20 and got headaches, acne, nausea, constant exhaustion, mood swings like you wouldn’t believe. My depression and anxiety have been nonstop, and my lower back has been in tear-jerking pain since the day I started them - so badly that sometimes I can barely walk. The only good thing is that my cramps and breast tenderness are nonexistent, but I would take some cramps any day over the rest of the side effects. Definitely switching either back to Alyacen or to something else!"

For Birth Control "My gynecologist gave me Junel Fe after I had a cyst on my ovary. I’ve had a really hard time on this pill. I’ve been consistently losing handfuls of my hair for the past 6 months, and she only told me, “it’s normal.” I have bald spots on my scalp now and have to go to my usual doctor about it now. I’ve also gained 10 pounds and can’t lose it no matter what I do with my diet and exercise. Acne has flared up like crazy, especially on my body. It has also worsened my periods, I ended up throwing up out of pain my last cycle. I’m trying to get a gynecologist to listen to me and put me back on Jolessa. Everyone is different though, and I have undiagnosed menstrual issues, so this might not be the experience of everyone. Just hasn’t been a good time for me at all. Make sure you listen to your body and how it responds to any of the pills you take."

For Birth Control "The 1st week of being on this BC, I experienced nausea and anxiety. I started to experience some acne, which was normal to what I experience on my period. I also had no cramps during my 1st period, which was amazing compared to the very painful cramps I have had my whole life. During the 1st week of the 2nd month, I had extreme anxiety and depressive thoughts. I tried breaking up with my boyfriend (who is amazing) for very irrational reasons. I also was having some cystic acne. As the month went on, I started to feel better except for a few times I became extremely sad and depressed when I drank alcohol. Currently, I am halfway through my third month, and my acne has cleared up. I have not had much anxiety or any other issues. I am very active and have not gained any weight while taking this BC. Overall, I am happy with my life and my relationships. My advice is to not let all the negative reviews get to you, try it for yourself, and keep in mind the importance of a healthy lifestyle."

For Birth Control "The entire time I was on this birth control, I was miserable! I constantly experienced nausea, stomach pains, and severe depression. I cried all the time on this pill! Constant, non-stop crying, terrible mood swings. I would not recommend!! Everybody reacts differently to different birth control, this is just MY experience."

For Birth Control "I was on Loestrin Fe, to Minastrin Fe, now to Junel 1/20 since that's all my insurance would cover. I have been on it a week and a half. This is possibly the worst birth control ever. I have been on birth control for 5 years, and not ONCE have I ever experienced this. I am moody, anxious, depressed, exhausted, have mild headaches, and am nauseous. I have no clue who I am on this, and it's only been a week and a half. I'd hate to see long-term effects. Coming off of it immediately."

For Menstrual Disorders "I had been taking Lo Losterin before starting Junel FE but had to switch per my insurance. I've been taking Junel since late July, but since starting it, I've been hoping I would start feeling better. Constantly feeling nausea is the #1 problem for me. It doesn't matter how accurately I take the medication, at some point in every day, I feel sick. And then I start to get paranoid and wonder if I'm pregnant and feeling morning sickness. #2 is the irregular periods. I've never had a period that was consistent, so I thought this would be a good way to regulate - boy, was I wrong! My period will start in the middle of my active pills, be there for 3 days, and then come back for 3 days on my iron pills. WHAT THE HECK, Vern?"

For Birth Control "This pill literally made me miserable. Obviously, everybody is different, but I felt absolutely awful the entire time I was taking it. Almost immediately after starting this pill, I began to have vicious headaches for days at a time. I also felt nauseous for a good portion of the day and had no appetite. Maybe because of this, my energy basically disappeared, and all I wanted to do was sleep. I also started retaining a ton of water, which made me feel even more lethargic. I continued to bleed and have cramps throughout the entire pack, and I would frequently feel dizzy. On top of all of this, my mood was all over the place, and I started having anxiety that manifested as tightness in my chest and difficulty breathing."

For Birth Control "I've been on Junel for 9 months now. For the first month, I had the normal side effects of moodiness, weight gain, nausea, etc. I have not had those issues since. Overall, I've been happy with Junel. I've gotten a couple of yeast infections, but they cleared up with medication. I also struggled with breakthrough bleeding for the first several months, but that's common with any pill. What I'm concerned about currently is my acne. The pill has been helping my acne so far, but over the past couple of weeks, I've been having issues (acne along the jawline, although not as bad as when I'm off the pill). I intend to monitor it for a month, but if it doesn't clear up, I plan to switch."
