For Birth Control "This was the first birth control I was ever on and stayed on it for about 2 years continuously (no periods). I loved this pill in the beginning and had no noticeable side effects for the first year, except that it cleared my horrible cystic acne. In the second year, I was taking it I experienced a significant drop in libido, and it was impossible to have sex without extreme pain and bleeding, and to me, this defeated the whole point of being on birth control to prevent pregnancy from sex. So I decided to take a break from it for a few months, and my cystic acne came back, leaving lots of scars, so I started again. The pain and dryness came back, and my acne did not go away after 2 months, so I decided to try and change it. I just switched to Aviane with a few side effects, but I've heard that it makes acne worse, so I'm hoping to find a pill that works for me someday!"

For Birth Control "I had never taken birth control before and was extremely hesitant because I’m not a fan of the idea of putting more hormones into your body. After taking this, I don’t think I will again for a while. I only took it for a week, but during that week, I developed extreme anxiety to the point where it was affecting my focus. My friends even noticed and said they thought I had ADHD, and none of my thoughts made sense. Also, during the second week, I started bleeding, and the cramps and blood were about as bad as having a heavy period where you don’t want to move. The only reason I didn’t give it a 1 is that it did give me more energy during the day, and it’s the only time I’ve ever been on a good sleep schedule. Not sure if that’s directly related, but it seems like it."

For Birth Control "I would not recommend this product to anyone. Since the day I've started taking this pill, I have been bleeding nonstop. I bled my entire vacation in the Bahamas with terrible cramping. Honestly, it felt like I was having a miscarriage. It is now going on 9 days. I have to discontinue this. This can't be life. I will be reporting this adverse effect to Teva and deal with my regular period and its cramps accordingly."

For Birth Control "I was switched to this pill after they discontinued the one I was on and did extremely well with. The first month was fine, no changes, a little bit of acne, but it resolved itself. Going into 3 months now, and I’ve been bleeding extremely heavy every other week when I was getting it maybe once every 3 months before on the other stuff. I know everyone is different, but if it’s supposed to be the same dosage and the same ingredients, I feel like I shouldn’t be having these issues. Especially for going on 3 months now."

For Menstrual Disorders "I'm 41. My latest check-up showed that I'm severely anemic. My GYN prescribed Junel Fe. As soon as I started taking it, I started to have heavy bleeding, humongous blood clots, horrible cramps, and a migraine for 15 days now. I called my GYN's emergency line by the 11th day, and she advised me to stop taking the pill immediately. Guess what, the heavy bleeding continues, abdominal cramps are non-stop despite taking pain medication and has gotten me doubled over and in tears for days on end. Now my GYN wants to discuss surgery to fix my bleeding and my anemia. I'm still bleeding as I'm typing this. It's the 15th day, and 4 days since I stopped taking the pill."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Ok, so I'm on here to post on a post I did on February 23. Sooooo, my first review after a month on the pill was good. I can't say it is now :( on my second pack and calling the doctor tomorrow to change it.... I started bleeding 2 weeks before my period, and I'm also getting acne, something I never ever had..... I also get very sensitive and cry for any little thing. I'm definitely getting off this pill. The reason the doctor put me on it was to control my heavy cycle, and now I'm bleeding in between."

For Birth Control "Previously, I was taking Microgestin birth control, but was switched to this due to the pharmacy being out of Microgestin. The first month or so I liked it, then it all changed. I began having horrible cramps, breakthrough bleeding all the time, my face is broken out worse than it has been my entire life, and my anxiety is through the roof. Birth control has always made me a little emotional, but this pill is absolutely driving me insane. I start back on the Microgestin today. Thankfully."

For Birth Control "Please do not use this pill. I have breakthrough bleeding for 5-6 days on the active pills and then also get my period on the non-active ones. My stomach is bloated, my anxiety is off the charts, my mood is terrible, and I have no sex drive. I’ve been taking this pill for about 4 months and didn’t get these side effects until after the first month. I do not recommend. The only positive side effect has been clear skin."

For Birth Control "I used Junel Fe for a little over a year. It worked perfectly most of the time. It was my first ever birth control, so it did cause some abnormal bleeding in the first few months. It was fine after that. I didn’t notice many side effects until a few months ago. I started my period in the middle of my pack, and I thought it was just a one-time thing. However, my periods have now been two weeks long and started in the middle of my pack. I switched pills because the periods were painful and so long! Hopefully, my new pill works better!"

For Birth Control "So far, it’s made me nauseous and lightheaded the whole time I’ve been using it. My first period was way heavier than normal (about five super tampons within 8 hours) and lasted nine days, which is four days longer than normal. A week after my first period ended, I had bleeding that was heavier than normal spotting and so far has been going on for four days. I know I need to keep taking it for my body to get used to it, but I am DREADING it. My doctor says I need to use it for three more months before I can switch."

For Birth Control "I started Junel a week and a half ago, and I've been bleeding nonstop since day 1. I told my doc, and she said it can take 3 to 6 months to work properly. Well, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to stay on something that's making me bleed when I shouldn't. In the past, when I was younger and on Yaz and Yasmin, I never had this problem. I don't think it's safe for me. I'm sure it's different for everyone, but it's not for me. There is no way I am going to keep taking it and waiting to see when I will stop bleeding."

For Birth Control "I am a birth control newbie; the only other BC I've tried is NuvaRing (which is way better than Junel). I've been on Junel for less than a month. I had a Sunday start during my cycle. My cycle is pretty regular and lasts 5-7 days (no longer), but with the Sunday start, I continued to ooze dark, icky blood for an additional 4 days! I did some research and realized this was because I wasn't taking it at the same time every day. So I started taking it religiously at 7 am, and the bleeding finally stopped on the 11th day! However, with a week of active pills left, I've started bleeding (WHAT) again. Also, my sex drive is way down, and I'm very dry. I've stopped Junel Fe as of this morning, even before the pack finished (good riddance). Also, the first week, my emotions were all over the place and still are, but I'm managing it better. I've also been very itchy and breaking out in hives-didn't think it was related to Junel, but we'll see now that I'm off it."

For Birth Control "I've been taking it for 2 months because I'm in a different country and can't access my usual brand, but for these two months, I've been bleeding randomly and extremely heavily. I have to change a super tampon every 3-5 hours when before I never had to go over a regular-sized tampon being changed every 8-12 hours. I've also had cramps, which I typically don't. I'm sure these are issues that would resolve with further use, but I'm going back home, so I'm going back to my usual pill."

For Birth Control "When I first started birth control, I was on the Depo shot but had to be taken off because my body didn't react well to so much estrogen. I was then put on Lo Estrin, but for some reason, my doctor changed my prescription to Junel Fe 1/20 (WITHOUT TELLING ME), and it took me 6 months of pure misery to figure out it was this awful form of birth control instead of my original pills that I was taking. This has made me very moody and aggressive, and I bled so heavily I thought I was having a miscarriage. I had to change my tampon every 15-30 minutes; I went from a regular to a super tampon after putting my body through this torture. I stopped my period and then started it again the next day. I'm so outraged; this is the second worst birth control ever created, and I feel so sorry for anyone willing to take it. I'm definitely switching health providers because how unprofessional could a doctor be to do that to their client."

For Birth Control "My doctor prescribed this in February. I've never heard of it, so I did research. There were a lot of bad reviews. I told my doctor about the reviews, and she said everyone is different, which is true. I decided to try it. I started the pill 6 days ago on day 1 of my period, and it's not good at all. My period comes for 5 days, on the 5th day, there's barely any blood, so it's non-existent. This pill has my period running like crazy and heavy. Today is my 6th day, and it's running like it's the 1st-3rd day. I'm stopping it today to get it out of my system so my period can stop. When I pee, it just gushes out. I'm done with this pill and birth control pills, period! The fake hormones are not good for the natural body cycle. I used to take Orthocylen Lo years ago and never had a problem. I've been off the pills for a lot of years. I also tried another brand last summer for a month and had to stop that as well. There are other healthy ways to have safe sex and prevent pregnancy. Women, do your body a favor and keep it as natural as possible."

For Acne "This pill was alright at first but not really what I wanted. As a birth control, it worked fine, but I was mostly using it to regulate my period and help control my acne. After 4 months of breakthrough bleeding and horrendous cystic acne, I decided to switch brands. Before starting this pill, I used to get a cyst or two a month. After starting this pill, I could only start to clear my skin up on placebo week, and even then it was hardly enough time to get rid of the massive cystic breakout. My friend was also on this pill but didn't have the same cystic situation. My word of advice is if you're prone to cystic acne, don't take this pill. The only thing I liked about this pill was no mood changes, less PMS, larger breasts, and minimal weight gain."

For Acne "I started taking Lo Loestrin 1 year ago this March because I was getting married in June, plus my periods were horrible. I had a little bit of acne, but that soon cleared up, and my skin was flawless. I didn't have a period for about five months, and then I started having breakthrough bleeding every two weeks lasting one week long, so my doctor changed me over to Junel. I didn't use to be so emotional, but now I cry for no reason. Also, my stomach feels bloated, and I have a bad case of acne on my upper back :( What do you guys think I should do: go back to Lo Loestrin or stay on Junel and just get something to clear up acne? HELP!!! :("

For Birth Control "I'm now on my second pack of pills. Before starting, I was very hesitant due to reading many negative reviews, but I decided to give it a shot. Needless to say, the reviews are accurate. The first month was “okay.” I experienced breakthrough bleeding, which wasn't a big deal at first. That's all I really dealt with the first month. It's the second month that is taking a toll on me, my emotions and body. I have noticed my anxiety at an all-time high to the point where I can't sleep (I'm medically diagnosed with generalized anxiety). I have been very moody, I'm still experiencing breakthrough bleeding, my calf muscles are now hurting along with my arm. I'm skeptical, but I won't jump to conclusions. I'm honestly thinking of getting off. There has been no good from this pill. These reviews are very relatable."

For Birth Control "Junel FE is the worst! - I've only been taking it for 3 months, however, I've developed insomnia. My body, eyes are tired as anything, but my brain is going, and it won't let me get a restful night's sleep. The two weeks I had the worst cramping possible. Week three - I bled really heavily. I HATE this pill!!! The only positive - my acne disappeared! It cleared up my skin tremendously, however, I'll take a few pimples over the loss of sleep..."

"I took this pill after taking Tri Sprintec, and this pill gave me abnormal feeling cramps, along with pelvic pain. Along with this, my acne came back, and I occasionally had breakthrough bleeding. I switched from Tri Sprintec because of breakthrough bleeding and mood swings. Junel Fe did fix my mood swings, but that is the only positive. I am switching pills."

For Birth Control "I'm about to complete my 3rd week in my 21-day pack. I've been consistently bleeding since starting the pill and experienced excruciating cramps during the first week. Since then, I've only had light cramping here and there but have been spotting every single day (very annoying as I have to wear panty liners every single day and change them often as it's not exactly light spotting). However, I haven't noticed any weight gain nor increase in acne. One thing that is interesting is the complaints of a decrease in libido, which I can't exactly say if I've been experiencing or not since I've been bleeding. I haven't been all that excited to jump into bed with my boyfriend, so it might just be because of that, but I can't tell."

For Birth Control "I'm usually not one to go online and write up reviews for anything, but my experience with this birth control was horrible. I was on this for 2 months. The first month, I suffered from debilitating stomach cramps almost every day for the first 3 weeks, sometimes causing me to have to leave work. Also, I did not have spotting, but had my period midway through the pack, about day 13, all the way till the last pill. I had my period for almost three weeks. Along with the bleeding and stomach pains, I was also nauseous and lost my appetite completely. I was not myself, feeling sad most of the days. The second month was not much better, my period was only about 10 days, but it was before the placebo pills again. No weight gain or acne for me though."

For Birth Control "It was horrible. I bled for 23 days straight. I had to stop taking the pills after 2 weeks because of the nonstop bleeding/spotting, and I had gained 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I was 102.8 when I started, and in 14 days I was 112.8. Way too many hormones in that pill. Do not take this!"

For Birth Control "I started Junel Fe while on my period. I usually get bad cramps (not debilitating) and feel nauseous, but I can take some Midol and feel better. The first two days of taking it, I felt extremely nauseous and actually threw up. My first month, my period was totally regular, came during the week it was supposed to. In the second month, I had some random bleeding for about a week in the middle of my cycle, then I got an extremely light, 3-day period when I was supposed to get it (my week off the pills). Now I'm on my third month, I experienced the random bleeding for a week again (which is more like a period than my actual period), and my actual period is late. I don't mind it at all though besides the irregularity. Cleared my acne a bit, didn't make me gain weight or change my breast size. It also completely got rid of my cramps (and it prevents pregnancy as well). It's my first birth control, so I don't really know what to look for."

For Birth Control "This birth control sucks. I've been experiencing irregular bleeding ever since I started taking this, and I swear it's made sex painful, like I don't even know. I did experience a mental breakdown the first week, and now I'm just always moody. I have cravings more now than I did before the pill. I'm just sick of bleeding every day. What a horrible pill! I'm switching ASAP. I don't know why my doctor prescribed me this yucky pill with such horrid side effects. Today was probably the last day that I took it, and I'll be throwing the rest out. I don't even care what my husband says, my health is more important. Very unsatisfied. I took birth control a few years ago and had no issues. I think it was Tri-Cyclen, way better results there."
