For Birth Control "This birth control is giving control and giving me horrible cramps. I am bloated and always tired, as well as depressed and anxious. I am so anxious and paranoid to the point I think I'm pregnant with the symptoms I'm getting."

For Birth Control "I've been on this BC for 6 weeks after having a tubal pregnancy and a fallopian tube removed. For 3 weeks, I've been having severe panic attacks. I get agitated, can't focus, and have racing thoughts. I didn't consider that the BC could be to blame until last night when I realized that's the only thing that's changed. I did research on this drug, and I'm relieved to discover that other women feel the same way. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather NONE of us feel this way EVER, but it's nice to know I'm not alone. Holy balls. I stopped taking this immediately. Besides the AWFUL anxiety, I've also experienced nearly non-stop bleeding, headaches, nausea, and fatigue. It could take a while for my body to 'accept' these things and level out, but I'm not willing to feel this way any longer. This BC is HORRIBLE, at least for me. I'm going to just switch to condoms. I don't want to chance trying another drug that can mess with my hormones, my emotions, my physical well-being, and my life."

For Birth Control "I wouldn’t recommend this. I’ve been on it for 4 months, almost 5, and I have never had more anxiety about becoming pregnant. I’ve had almost every side effect in the book. I had headaches, nausea, breast tenderness, cramps, acne, vaginal dryness and itchiness, and breakthrough bleeding. Most of these side effects were not super bad and actually did clear up in the 3 months like they are supposed to, except the acne and breakthrough bleeding. I still break out and get really bad pimples. I also have had breakthrough bleeding every month, and the bleeding had gotten better, but now I am having bad cramps with it. It’s miserable. It’s like I have my period for 2 weeks. The period on the placebo week is actually very light and very light cramps, which is a plus! I’ve not had a super good experience with this pill and am going to switch soon."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Junel Fe 1/20 for almost a year. I’ve gained weight, am bloated, have zero sex drive, had an itchy, dry vagina, panic attacks, anxiety, boobs ache all the time, breakthrough bleeding, and a general constant tiredness. After reading through other reviews, I feel less crazy. The only good thing about Junel is it’s free on my insurance plan. I called my OB-GYN today to get back on Ministrin 24 Fe - which I loved and am now going to pay out of pocket for because... I lost weight on it. Had zero breakthrough bleeding, loved that it is a mint-flavored chewable too. Oh, and I felt normal on it. DON’T take Junel, it’s garbage!"

For Birth Control "I was on Microgestin for probably 2 years, I want to say, and I had ZERO problems. I would only break out here and there when it was the last week of the pack and my period was coming, but that’s about it. One day, I went to pick up my refill of my pills, and they gave me a new brand of birth control: Junel Fe. I hate it. The number one reason I hate it is because it has made my anxiety, PTSD, and depression skyrocket through the roof. I haven’t had anxiety this bad since I was in high school. I’m 22 now. It makes me panic for absolutely no reason and out of nowhere. I’ve also gained weight. I’ve gained a good 7 lbs from only taking it for 3 months, since my clothes feel a little snug. I have no appetite at all, but somehow gaining weight? If you have a history of anxiety or depression, I wouldn’t take this pill. If you don’t have a history, this pill is perfectly fine for you as it does the job, as I have not gotten pregnant and my periods are pretty under control."

For Birth Control "Junel Fe 1/20 drove me insane, my anxiety and depression got so bad, and I actually considered cutting myself again after being clean for probably 8 years. Made it harder for me to lose weight. I was getting 2 periods a month. Acne did not get better or worse, really. This pack gave me menstrual cramps, whereas before I hardly ever got them."

For Birth Control "I started on this pill after moving and seeing a new doctor, and it has been around 7 months of use. My anxiety has escalated an insane amount, and my motivation for anything is almost nonexistent, which is very unlike me. I have also been spotting like every other week. I was starting to get really concerned until I decided to look up reviews on this medication. Seeing that people have had the same experience as me makes me feel much better. I am switching ASAP."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "In 2014, I was diagnosed with PCOS. I was 14 years old and had no idea what to expect. In 2017, I was switched from Tri-Previfem to Junel FE 1/20, the 21-day pack. I've been on it for 3 months now. In that time span, I've been constantly woken up from nightmares and have anxiety attacks and heart palpitations. My mood has literally been off the wall. I snap at everything. If someone even asks me a question, I blow up. I'm also constantly nauseous. I honestly thought I was pregnant at first, but many doctors and home tests proved me wrong. I wouldn't suggest this because I've never had problems with anxiety before this. Definitely going to my gyno to switch soon!!"

For Birth Control "I have been taking Junel Fe for several months now, it is very similar to Nortrel. I have no 'weight gain, no emotional or mental problems, no anxiety attacks or feel like I am floating,' lol. These pills are awesome. I even take them so I don't get a period, and I haven't had a period in 6 months. AMAZING! I recommended these to my two sisters already, who are making the switch, and would gladly recommend these to anyone. Junel Fe does the job completely."

For Birth Control "Had the worst side effects ever on Junel Fe 1/20, with severe migraines every single day. I was nauseous as well. I had to go to emergency care once because my blood pressure was high. They said it was my birth control and to get off of it immediately. I’m very healthy and have never felt anything that this birth control (BC) made me feel! Worst BC ever! I did not feel like myself, and nothing seemed to help. That’s how bad it was! I was seeing a therapist for about a month because my hormones were so messed up. I was depressed and had severe anxiety."

For Birth Control "This was my first experience with birth control and most likely my last. Now thinking back, two weeks after taking Junel Fe, I began my symptoms of irrationality, anxiety, and depression. For the last three months, I have been so confused as to why I have been so anxious and sad even though I have so much to be thankful for. It wasn’t until my husband researched this pill that I was relieved to find out I am not crazy and many others have experienced the same effects. The intrusive nonstop negative thoughts have been persistent for almost three months. I am eagerly awaiting the end of my cycle to see if I will ever go back to normal after this pill."

For Birth Control "Since I started this birth control, I have felt off. It's the only one my insurance covers now. It's fine at its job by preventing pregnancy, but the side effects aren't worth it. I'm a pretty emotional person to begin with, but since starting this, I have never wanted to cry more in my life over the dumbest things. My anxiety has worsened, I get my period two times a month on this. But so far, the worst has been the depression and anxiety. I am stopping it immediately."

For Birth Control "I started Junel 2 months after I had my baby, and it immediately made me gain 10 pounds. It also made me depressed, anxious, and crazy moody. I know it's the pills because I was maintaining my weight well after I gave birth and was not feeling depressed at all. I've decided to finish up the pack and not take any birth control pills after this at all. Although it did make my periods lighter, it was not worth it for me."

For Birth Control "Took Junel Fe for about 1.25 years. Everything was fine (besides 2 random hot flashes in the beginning) for a while until about 1 year after I started taking it. Didn’t have my period for 84 days (Jan-May), and I got really freaked out and kept taking pregnancy tests, which were all coming back negative. Apparently, it can make you stop having a period after a while, which I cannot handle. Then I got my period again and was in some of the worst pain of my life. Switched to Larin, but I’m a little worried 'cause a lot of people are reporting having more anxiety on it. I guess we’ll see..."

For Birth Control "I've been on Junel Fe for 4 months now, and it is horrible! I have never had anxiety this bad, and I cry all the time over the littlest things!! I am tired all the time, and my boyfriend has noticed that I've become a lot more emotionally unstable since starting this pill. My last two periods lasted over two weeks, and they were very heavy. I would not recommend this if you struggle with anxiety or depression. The one good thing that came out of this is that I'm not pregnant, lol."

For Birth Control "I have been on Junel Fe (Sub) for 6 months now, and I want to give my honest opinion because I read these reviews back before I started it, and they scared me. First few months, I was dealing with very painful and sore breasts, headaches within an hour of taking my pill (I took it at 9 pm so that I could fall asleep after due to the headaches), and bloating. At month 3, I was having some anxiety, unreasonable irritation at anything and everything, and random crying. But once I hit month 4, everything changed! The breast pain stopped, the headaches stopped, I felt like my normal self again: calm, kind, relaxed, no more bloating, my skin was really clear, and at my 6-month visit with my gyno, I was down in weight. I think with all birth control, you need to give it some time to regulate your hormones. I definitely talked about stopping the pills during that 3rd month, but I am really glad that I waited it out because I feel back to normal, and I don't have to worry about an unplanned pregnancy."

For Birth Control "Wow, the experience I’ve had on this is so horrible. I’ve been taking Junel Fe for four months, and this is my last week because I’m switching. I’m not the type to leave reviews, but this birth control did NOT work for me. The only pros of this birth control are that my libido didn’t go down at all and I didn’t gain weight (mostly because it made me not hungry & probably added to my eating disorder by giving me immense anxiety). The first couple of weeks, I had migraines, nausea, intense thirst, hunger, and bleeding. Well, fast forward to 4 months on it, and I’m still bleeding (having periods twice a month), still have migraines, experienced the worst anxiety - ever. I can barely eat anything anymore, YEAST INFECTIONS EVERY MONTH & THE SEVERE ACNE IT HAS GIVEN ME. I am serious when I say my acne has never been this bad. Every day I wake up having a mental breakdown over my skin. I tried to wait it out, and the side effects increasingly got worse after my 3-month mark."

For Birth Control "Terrible, terrible pill. Tried Junel Fe for a few months, advised that it takes a few months for your body to adjust to the pill. I could not say anymore, MY BODY DID NOT ADJUST. I thought the mood swings, anxiety attacks, and extra felt stress were a temporary effect... nope! I felt this every day of every week of all the few months of taking this. Horrified by this pill and had a very negative experience with it. Crazy emotions, anxiety fits, mood swings galore. I'm usually cool as a cucumber, so this pill did one dramatic number on me. I feel bad for my boyfriend."

For Birth Control "I am a 20-year-old woman, and this is my first time ever going on birth control. Obviously, birth control affects everyone differently, but this birth control is not the one for me. The first couple of months were rough on this birth control. I was breaking out more than usual, high anxiety and depression, and I was just a mess. I had breakthrough bleeding every month. Then month 3 got better for some reason, and I thought I was adjusted and life was great. Now I’m on month 5, and the same symptoms from the beginning months are coming back. I’ve been taking this consistently too, so I don’t know what the deal is. Lately, I’ve been so irritable and cry at everything. I’ve been starting so many fights with my boyfriend because I’m in such an emotional state. I’ve also been bleeding for 2 weeks now, and I can’t take it anymore. I am switching to a new birth control once this pack is finished, and I can’t wait. The only good thing is that it prevented pregnancy for me."

For Birth Control "I’ve only been taking Junel Fe 1/20 for 3 weeks, but it’s honestly taken me for a wild ride. This birth control has amplified my anxiety x100. I’ve managed to get 3 panic attacks in one week. I’ve been on two different birth controls before this one and didn’t have any anxiety or depression issues. The only reason I’m giving it a 2 instead of a 1 is because it cleared up my acne. Other than that, all it’s done is make me super emotional and have horrible anxiety."

For Birth Control "This is the worst birth control I have ever taken. I am 27 and was recently switched to Junel Fe 1/20 after my previous brand was discontinued. I feel like I have been taking crazy pills for the past month and a half. The anxiety and depression have been overwhelming, and I can’t remember the last day I didn’t cry. I have had difficulty sleeping and maintaining my relationships with those around me. I have had strange heartbeats and difficulties breathing. It may be effective in preventing pregnancy, but my periods also did not start until I was 3 days into the last week of the pack. I wouldn't recommend this pill to anyone. I can emphasize how much you shouldn’t take this if you have a predisposition to feel anxious unless you want to feel sad and insane all the time."

For Menstrual Disorders "I took this pill for the first time in college because of abnormally heavy and frequent periods. I stayed on it for about 6 months before stopping once my cycle leveled out. During this short time taking the pill, I was very anxious, nervous, and depressed. I started taking the same pill again about a year ago for the same reasons. I have noticed over the last few months that I go through spats of depression, and I am always anxious. I am beginning to wonder if there is a correlation between the pill and anxiety/depression. Other than that, this pill has been great for me; no weight gain, no acne, and my last period was 8 months ago. Decent pill, but planning to talk to my doctor soon to look into other options."

For Birth Control "I got dumped because of this birth control. I have developed anxiety, depression, and have mood swings all the time. Everything annoys me so much. I snap out of nowhere. I am so sensitive. I have anxiety and have changed as a person. I am not the same anymore. I am going to my doctor in 2 weeks to switch my birth control or get off of it entirely. I'm over it."
