For Birth Control "Stopped BC for about 2 years, and then went on it again a year and a half ago, about 3 months before I got married. About 4 months after taking it, I had my first ever panic attack. I slowly gained weight all the time to the point that now I am 22 pounds heavier than when I started. I have bad anxiety and feel stressed ALL the time. I thought this was just due to being married (everyone kept telling me 'the first year of marriage is stressful, everyone gains weight after they get married'). I've literally tried everything to lose weight and manage my stress and have only GAINED weight and felt the same emotionally. I thought this was all normal due to my life change and getting older (turned 33 this year) and now to find all of these reviews a year and a half later, it's all getting put together in my head. Finishing this month and then getting off this! Will give an updated review a couple of months after being off it."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Junel Fe for about two months, and it has shortened my period and made my cramps easier to deal with, but I’ve experienced EXTREME nausea. There are certain days when all I can think about is how nauseous I am. I also have experienced mood swings, anxiety, inability to focus, fatigue, and almost constant bleeding all throughout the month. 6/10 sort of recommend."

For Birth Control "At 18, I went on birth control to help with menstrual cramps that would cause me to miss school, they’d get too bad. I was on Microgestin for ten years and never had a problem. Last year, after switching PCPs, I was put on Junel Fe. I experience major mood swings, random emotional outbursts, lost my motivation to do pretty much anything active, and developed anxiety. The problems didn’t stop there. This past July, I was admitted to the hospital with a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung) that almost killed me. All from switching to Junel Fe."

For Menstrual Disorders "I have been taking Junel Fe for 1 complete year after switching from Loestrin because of the expenses. Personally, it did great for me for preventing birth control. But I gained 18 pounds and always have food cravings. My breasts gained 2 cup sizes and are always sore...it's hard to sleep. My emotions are all over the place, I can be fine one minute, then I am angry and crying my eyeballs out the next for no reason. My anxiety increased severely, and I was depressed. My acne got worse, and my periods were awful. Obviously, this pill wasn't for me. I am finishing my pack and then starting a new one that my doctor prescribed. It's the generic for Yaz, which has me worried. But I will give it a try since I know my doctor would not recommend it if not safe."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Junel Fe for about 3 months. I already suffer from anxiety, but after taking this pill, it has been so hard for me to leave the house or just do normal daily tasks. My anxiety has gotten so much worse. I have been moody and even meaner. I feel like I’m a completely different person. The only good thing about this pill is that my periods now only last about 3 days, and my periods are light and not heavy anymore. This was my first experience with birth control, and after these 3 months of anxiety, mood swings, and my sex drive completely disappearing, I decided to stop. My sex drive has gone down so fast. My husband and I have not had sex in a whole month, and I have no desire to have sex or do any sexual activities. I’m scared about the side effects of going off. I also started taking herbal remedies to help boost my sex drive, and they are good for women’s health. I have taken those for 2 days, and I already feel a little better."

For Birth Control "This medication is horrible. I started taking it right after I had my daughter. I have never felt so anxious/depressed in my entire life. I didn't know what was wrong with me until I thought the only change I had made was my birth control. My doctor tried to tell me this pill wasn't the cause of my symptoms, well, I stopped taking it and guess what, all the symptoms disappeared."

For Birth Control "Never ever will I put this in my body again. I moved for college, and when I switched pharmacies, I went to pick up my normal prescription of Lo Loestrin Fe. Instead, they gave me Junel Fe. I tried to tell them this was the wrong prescription, they told me it was the exact same, the exact same formula, everything just a different brand. After being on this for only 2 weeks, I can tell you right now they are not the same. This has been the worst two weeks emotionally of my life. I am someone who very rarely cries, I am not an emotional person. These two weeks I’ve cried every single day, multiple times. I’ve never been so insecure in myself, my body. It caused my eating disorder to almost come back after about 2 years. I was convinced my incredible loving boyfriend was going to break up with me for absolutely no reason at all. It was purely in my head from this terrible drug. 0/10 DO NOT TAKE THIS."

For Birth Control "This medicine is horrible for me. The first time I took it, I felt it 20 minutes after. I had random spot pains all over my body, insomnia, throwing up, dizziness, my limbs went numb, and my already diagnosed anxiety and depression got 10 times worse. I could not rest, it felt like my body was going 100 mph. I had horrible mood swings, and it affected my relationship even though he understood. I felt very angry and hostile. I cried over almost anything, with terrible migraines and canker sores. I also got blood clots. I am 95 pounds. I would not recommend this to anyone."

For Birth Control "I started taking this birth control shortly after my first pregnancy. I have never felt so terrible in my life. After reading several other reviews, it all makes sense. Severe anxiety, panic attacks, randomly up in the middle of nights, extremely emotional, pregnancy symptoms which increased my anxiety, severe migraines, nosebleeds at night, as well as fatigue and nausea. I would not recommend this medication, and doctors shouldn’t either."

For Birth Control "1 of the biggest mistakes I've ever made! I was on a different birth control and got switched to Junel because of insurance reasons. Right after starting it, I felt nauseous almost every day, and my anxiety and depression have been the worst it's ever been. I couldn't even be out in public without my anxiety starting up. Not to mention I was crabby and pissed off at everything and everyone for no reason whatsoever. I never thought it could've been the Junel doing this, but then I came on here and read all the reviews and noticed most of them described everything I was dealing with. I quickly contacted my OB and am getting switched to my old birth control!"

"I got on Junel Fe 1/20 to try to get periods on track to become pregnant. The first day was fine. Second day I turned into a crazy, emotional, dramatic monster who hated everyone. I'm very bubbly and lovely even on a bad day. I didn't feel myself at all on this. I have horrible acne now, which I've never struggled with. Maybe a breakout here and there every few months. My breasts are so tender without even touching them. My back has been killing me since I started it. The nausea subsided after the first week, thank goodness, but the second week I began eating everything in sight. I've gained weight, and I'm so bloated it's ridiculous. I'm always tired and have no drive. And the everyday, nonstop headaches are awful. My anxiety is through the roof, which I had just gotten under control before taking this. I also have no sex drive at all. I am only supposed to take it for three months, but I can't even make it three weeks. This was a horrible experience with no benefit."

For Birth Control "I’ve been taking this birth control for about 4 months now. I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for about 7 months. Mood swings, acne, bloating, anxiety, you name it. I was advised to switch to a lower estrogen birth control, and that’s when I started Junel Fe 1/20. I’ve had ultra-light to no periods, and my mood swings, bloating, anxiety GONE! I’ve had the best experience with this birth control. I’ve been on the IUD twice, and nothing has been as good as this brand of birth control. I’ll get a cyst on my chin around the time I’m supposed to get my period, but other than that, everything has been great. I take my pill before bedtime."

For Birth Control "Was switched to this birth control after my previous birth control was back-ordered at my pharmacy. Within 2 months, noticed extreme mood changes/swing, depression, severe anxiety-picking fights and crying for no reason. I've never written a review for anything in my life, however, this pill has affected me significantly different than the non-generic version (Microgestin Fe), despite being told it 'is the same makeup.' Everyone reacts to pills differently, however, be cautious if switching from the non-generic version."

For Birth Control "I took this pill for 2 months, and I couldn’t regret it more. I’ve bled for over half of the month since I started, sometimes with no break between the spotting and my actual period. My anxiety has gotten significantly worse. I’ve experienced migraines, which is something completely new to me. Rather than cramping for a few days like I normally would, I would cramp for weeks when I was spotting and on my actual period. This pill was a very bad option for me. My sister had a similar experience with this birth control, but my doctor decided to put me on it despite that, and it was a huge mistake."

For Birth Control "I started taking this when I was just about 18. Wanted to quit using condoms with my boyfriend and just go on this. The first month or two, my periods were irregular, and I got extremely moody, but I just thought it was me getting used to it. Nine months into using it, and my moods, anxiety, and depression have gotten horrible! To the point where I was crying or getting depressed at my boyfriend simply not texting me back. Moods so bad affected my relationship. Other than the moods, I have little/no period, no acne, no weight gain, no cramps. Overall, the moods were so bad I could not take it anymore, even though everything else was great."

For Birth Control "This pill was great for regulating my periods and making them lighter. However, I constantly felt I was walking around in a cloud. I had ZERO sex drive, and the anxiety and anxiety attacks were getting out of hand. This medication also caused my chest pains. I went to my primary, and she, without a doubt, said that these birth control pills were causing the anxiety attacks. I also gained weight. The worst part was it started to make me feel extremely depressed. Anyone already on depression meds or struggling with depression SHOULD NOT take this pill. Won't ever try birth control pills ever again."

For Birth Control "This pill is not worth it, EVER! I have PCOS and was given the pill to help it. I naturally am an anxious person, but the 6 months or so I have been on this spiked the anxiety! I was more emotional a day or two before my period than I ever was before I was on the pill! Then, there is the nausea right after taking it, which has led me to physically get sick from how it messes up my stomach. No appetite. Then, there are the horrible cramps and clot-filled blood, which was made WORSE by taking this pill. Nope! Never again! I was on Microgestin for years with minimal side effects. This pill has been 6 months of awfulness that literally only makes you feel worse the longer you take it. I cannot wait to finish the next 2 weeks of this pack. I'd rather get ovarian cysts than take these. Heading to my OB-GYN to switch back, ASAP! Ladies, if you find yourself anxious, stomach sick, PMSing, fatigued, crampy, and heavy bleeding while on this pill, you are not alone. Beware."

For Birth Control "I stopped and restarted this BC to see if maybe the side effects would change, but they only got worse. My emotions have been up and down, and I'm suddenly getting really bad anxiety. My appetite is also out of control. My stomach feels like it's a black pit 24/7, and I'm tired all the time. I've tried other birth controls before, and I just think the hormonal changes don't agree with me at all."

For Birth Control "Personally, Junel did not work for me. I was on it for about 7 months, and at first, I thought it was great—I wasn’t nauseous, it didn’t make me break out, and I didn’t notice any side effects. However, after more time passed, I became aware of how anxious I was and how stressed I felt about everything in my life. On top of this, I was literally ravenous. I gained 10-15 pounds going on this pill, on top of terrible anxiety. I recently switched to Tri-Legest FE, and I’ve lost weight and feel much better in general. I loved Junel for its ability to keep my skin clear and keep my cramps at bay, but the anxiety and hunger were a bit too much for me to handle."

For Birth Control "I have spent the last 6 years of my life with an eating disorder, depression, anxiety, and overall misery, which is just completely not like me at all. My mind has become so obsessed with food and exercise, and I have been so fatigued all the time. I went off the pill 1 month ago, and in the past 2 weeks, I have felt 0 depression, barely any anxiety, and finally feel ready to take the steps to recovery. I looked back to when I first started taking the pill, and that is exactly when all of these feelings began. How did I not put this together before now?! I will never know, BUT I do know I will never go on the pill again. Thinking of switching to the IUD."

For Birth Control "Junel Fe 1/20 is the worst medication I have ever taken. I can’t believe this is on the market! I’ve read through hundreds of reviews, and so many of us women have had the same awful results. I had never had anxiety before this medication. But while on it for 1.5 packs, I was having at least two panic attacks a day. My brain felt at all times like I had consumed gallons of caffeine, even though I had fully taken both coffee and chocolate out of my diet. I couldn’t function, and I could barely take care of my two kids. I was having persistent migraines, dizziness that never went away, and I lost ten pounds in eight days because the nausea made it impossible to eat. I was always sick to my stomach and borderline dehydrated because I couldn’t keep anything down. I tried everything: taking the pill before bed, taking it with food, etc. I only got worse. I went to the ER five times in two months. I’m FINALLY off this medication, and my symptoms are slowly going away. NEVER TAKE THIS MEDICATION!"

For Birth Control "So I’ve been on birth control for about 3 years now. A year ago, I switched gynos, and she put me on a new pill (Junel Fe). At first, everything was fine. But I developed major anxiety, was having attacks daily. Couldn’t control my emotions. Gained a little bit of weight, but not much at all. After being on it for almost a year now, my face has been breaking out horribly. I never even had this much acne in high school. Yes, periods were shorter and only had one day of heavy bleeding. I would get bad cramps the week before, the week of, and the week after my period. One other thing it increased was my migraines. The only good thing that came from this pill was keeping me from being pregnant, but it’s not worth it, and I am switching ASAP."

For Birth Control "I started taking Junel Fe a year ago. I contracted mono a month after I started taking the contraceptive, so any symptoms present I assumed were from the virus. Months after recovering from mono, I had weird symptoms: fatigue, low blood sugar after workouts, high anxiety, headaches, brain fog, depression, shakiness. I assumed these symptoms were from having mono. It wasn't until 2 weeks ago that the fatigue became strong that I was convinced I had CFS. I went to the doctor and asked if it could be my birth control causing this, and she said no. I got tested for mono reoccurrence along with 6 other blood tests checking for autoimmune diseases, which all came back negative. Days later, one of my friends mentioned it may be my birth control, and I immediately stopped taking it. Now, only 8 days later, I am starting to feel normal and healthy. The listed symptoms have subsided, and I don't feel nearly as tired. I never imagined it was birth control related, I'd never recommend this product to anyone."
