For Birth Control "I was on the medication for 4 months. In the beginning, my period was fine. As time went on, my period got lighter and lighter and was eventually 2 days long. Usually, I have a 4-day period, so this freaked me out. I also had yellow/brown discharge. I took pregnancy tests and had blood work done, and I'm not pregnant. I was very emotional from start to finish. I cried every week, nearly daily. My depression and anxiety was at its worst in a while. The only good thing it did for me was I guess lighten my periods (way too much) and clear up my acne perfectly."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control, Junel Fe 1/20, for 2 1/2 almost 3 years. The first 2 years were great. Cleared up my acne, no PMS symptoms, period was light, no side effects. This past year or 1/2 year, I have had nothing but issues. Periods are a bit heavier and irregular, for the first time, I got migraines 3 days in a row with some nausea. I also have started having panic attacks, a bit of depression, and anxiety, which is so unlike me. Thinking about going off of this."

For Birth Control "For 5 years, I took Junel. For the first year, it was fine. Lighter periods and fewer cramps. Year 2, I started suffering from increased anxiety and what everyone else decided was depression, even though I insisted it was fatigue. I was as tired as if I had the flu all the time, and the week before my period, I could not handle a thing. So I got therapy and started eating healthy to treat what my doctors insisted were not symptoms of the pills. I worked out, ate healthy consistently, but the weight kept coming on at 5 to 10 lbs a year. My sex drive completely disappeared, which doctors will blame on the depression. I finally couldn't handle it and went off two weeks ago. I feel like crying at how much better I feel. It's like I woke up from a coma."

For Birth Control "I've been on Junel Fe for about a year now without any problems. My doctor recommended this brand for my extremely painful cramps I'd get at the beginning of every cycle, which would often lead me to throw up from the pain. Upon first starting it, I immediately noticed a positive change. My period lasts about 4 days now (as opposed to 7 days) with very light bleeding and hardly any cramps. Also, even though I've read bad reviews of this birth control due to anxiety and depression-related side effects, I've never experienced any, and I've been diagnosed with both (prior to being on this brand of birth control). Junel Fe is a great product."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Junel for almost two years, and wow, those first 3 months were TERRIBLE! The nausea, anxiety, mood swings... it was insane! But after 3 months, it all went away. I had light, regular periods. It was really a great pill, I gained maybe 5 lbs on Junel, which wasn’t that bad compared to the 20 lbs on a pill I was on years ago. HOWEVER, the reason I’m going off of it is because I feel like it changed me completely as a person. I feel like I have no emotions, which is terrible because of my patient, loving boyfriend. I feel like this birth control protected me from emotions because I feel so disconnected with the world and myself. Also, this pill ended my sex drive... like *bang* I just can’t feel anything to get aroused. Smh, I hope this all goes away after stopping next week!"

For Birth Control "I was on Microgestin before it switched to Junel Fe. I had gotten on the pill because of irregular periods and severe migraines around my period. I started taking this in December, and by the end of January, I had full-on depression and my anxiety was through the roof. I got into massive arguments with friends and family over nothing. I had no control over my emotions. It’s taken me almost 6 months to get to a spot where getting up every day isn’t a battle. I went to a therapist for the first time in my life because I felt so out of control. This pill also increased and worsened my migraines, which is incredibly frustrating. I’m not sure how a pill like this is on the market. I’d warn anyone who has any sort of anxiety or family history of depression to stay far away from this pill. I don’t feel like myself anymore, and the worst part is I’ll have to try another birth control just to try to feel like myself again. I’m so disappointed in this pill."

For Birth Control "For what it's worth, I started this already having high anxiety and bipolar, compounded with an eating disorder - so the points about weight gain and mood swings were pretty freaky to me. I started taking it due to endometriosis-related period pain. Junel Fe 1/20 has worked perfectly for me; the only change I've noticed is that I don't spend a week in bed barfing from the pain. If you have bipolar II and are worried about the complaints of anxiety/depression worsening, give it a try. It worked just fine for me alongside Latuda."

For Birth Control "OMG, this birth control was a disgrace. I can't believe it's FDA approved. I felt so depressed and so anxious to the point where I was crying all the time, and I couldn't even get to sleep at night. I tried to make myself at least finish the first pack, but I couldn't. I've never felt such profound sorrow in my life. Mood returned to normal after discontinuing."

For Birth Control "I've only been taking Junel Fe 1/20 for 2 months now (I have my 3rd month, but I don't know if I'm going to take it). I get my prescription online through a service, and the only reason I switched to Junel Fe was that I had to renew my subscription and they didn't pick back up where I left off. I figured I'd give it a few months and see what happened. I mostly take birth control to help with my ovarian cysts and regulation. I immediately noticed with this medication that I have a lot more pain and cramps. It also did not regulate my period, as I have missed it since I've been taking this medication. I also struggle with anxiety, and it not only doubled it but has made me feel extremely depressed. Also, I have relatively clear skin, but I've been having acne breakouts since starting. I already messaged my doctor to see about changing."

For Birth Control "Uncertain about writing this because who knows what’s the stem of my declining mental health, but I stopped taking Junel Fe a few weeks ago and we will see what happens. Like other reviews are saying: days of crying, increased anxiety, feeling like I’m going to break at any second, etc., etc. I guess time will tell if this is due to the pill, but timing does line up from when I started taking it. Be careful if you have struggled with mental health in the past. However, made periods really light and painless."

For Birth Control "Junel Fe 1/20 was the worst experience ever! First, I became anxious and depressed and had no sex drive. My primary care physician put me on anxiety medication. Then I gained so much weight that was never like me, especially while dieting, then night sweats... The last straw was when I bled for a month straight... I wish I had looked up the reviews for this sooner because I would have stopped this way sooner."

For Birth Control "I have never in my life had such serious side effects with any prescription like I have with this. I took it for a total of 10 days before I had to stop. At day 4, I had 3 pretty severe anxiety attacks. Days 4-10, I experienced really bad mood swings, hard crying for no reason, and at day 10, I was put into the deepest depression I've ever experienced, to the point where I had to go to a friend's house as I was worried about self-harm. I am serious. The most horrific feelings, and I'm on day 2 of not taking it, and I'm nauseous, have a headache that won't go away, and my chest hurts from the anxiety that I am feeling."

For Birth Control "Was on Loestrin Fe for over two years when I got switched to Junel Fe. I have never had mental health issues, but this pill made me feel like I was going insane. For the first two months, it was fine; I had a little anxiety, but thought nothing of it and brushed it off. Then around month 3, everything got worse by each month. Every month for two weeks, I’d have severe night anxiety; paranoia about family dying, home break-ins, general impending doom; night sweats leading to nightmares; and insomnia. All of which culminated in meltdowns at 3 a.m. Also experienced acne (which I’ve never had issues with), GERD, chest pains, heart palpitations, anger, and some weight gain. I was seriously considering therapy/anxiety meds until 10 months in, I clocked it. I promptly got off of it and felt like normal after 2 weeks. It might work for someone else, so it might not happen to you. If you are having these symptoms, it might be this pill; call your doctor. I wish I had sooner to save me from 10 months of hell."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Junel FE for about 8 months. The first 2-3 months was okay. But I did notice after that I started gaining weight, even after working out in the gym 3 times a week for 2-3 hours a day. Then I started getting anxiety, depression, fatigue, constipation, bloating, and breakouts."

For Birth Control "I have been taking birth control for 10 years due to surgery at a young age. I can honestly say that Junel almost ruined my life. I became completely depressed on this medication, but blamed that on the fact that I just moved 1,000 miles from home, and I was homesick. Then I started to realize that there was a pattern. I'd get extremely anxious and depressed for a few days, and then it would subside (somewhat) for a week or two. It got to the point where my anxiety was so bad I could barely breathe, and making it through a day seemed impossible. I talked to my gynecologist and had my pill changed. I am a completely different person now and thankfully got off of this medication before it claimed my life."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "Was prescribed this pill for PCOS and acne. Read the reviews and was very nervous but decided to try it regardless. Within 3 days of taking this, I had horrific nightmares and night sweats, heart palpitations, and the worst constant anxiety of my life. Everyone reacts differently, but if you are prone to anxiety, I highly suggest not trying this pill. You will regret it."

For Birth Control "If you want to know how severe these side effects can get-keep reading. So I’ve been on Junel for two months now. This past week, both my mom and dad stayed home from work because I became suicidal, manic, and more angry than I have ever been for a week straight literally for no reason. I broke my new iPhone 8 Plus (for no reason) and then started ripping my hair out because I was so distraught. I cry for no reason. I panic to the point that my throat feels like it’s closing up. I can’t stay in a store more than 5 minutes because the anxiety starts to turn into a panic attack and I just start staring at the floor.. etc., etc."

For Birth Control "I strongly advise against taking this birth control. I was on it for 2 months, and I had bleeding while taking them, but during my period week, I had no period. This pill caused fairly severe anxiety and depression for me. I've always been a slightly anxious person, but I've never had serious anxiety or depression until taking this drug. I was constantly anxious about everything in my life and felt like my life was worthless. It took me some time to realize that the pill was causing these feelings after I questioned my relationship, my friendships, my life decisions, thinking that one of those factors was causing the anxiety. I'd very strongly advise anyone who either has anxiety or anyone who gets anxious even a little bit, to not take this pill as it can severely mess up your mental health."

For Birth Control "I'm so glad I finally read reviews about this pill, and people are not lying when they say it's the worst. I recently found out that I have vertigo, but I was dealing with what I thought were vertigo symptoms for much longer than my doctor said they would last. The symptoms of this pill and vertigo are extremely similar. I am constantly lightheaded. Almost every day. Sometimes to the point where I can't even drive. It makes me nauseous. I can't focus at work. And if you think people who said it gives them mood swings were being dramatic, they're not. I have anxiety attacks on a regular basis. I've most definitely gained weight and have seen my acne get worse. DON'T TAKE THIS PILL!"

For Birth Control "So I'm writing this review to help others. This pill works great for preventing pregnancy, but if you already have problems with anxiety and depression, I don't recommend taking this pill. I've been taking Junel Fe for about 9 months now, and it has caused me to become very moody, angry, very depressed and anxious, low energy, and very little sex drive. Now I've had regular periods, not very painful periods, very light periods. I do have some acne, but not bad. Again, if you already have depression or anxiety, I do not recommend this pill, but it did great for my periods and preventing pregnancy."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control (BC) for about 6 months. (I used to be on Gildess, but it has been discontinued from the factory, and this one was a perfect match.) I feel like this BC has made my depression and anxiety worse. I still experience mild nausea. My face breaks out, and they seem to stay there. I’m always emotional and agitated. I get cramps, but they are minimal. My periods are light, but they are a brownish color. I’m going to stop it because I want to see if my depression gets better or maybe try a new birth control. I wish they would bring back Gildess."

For Birth Control "I got the Skyla IUD and loved it. When that expired and it was time to get it removed, I opted for the Mirena IUD because it lasted longer. WORST MISTAKE EVER! There were too many hormones. I kept it for over a year hoping my body would adjust, but I couldn’t stand it any longer. I was depressed, anxious, insecure, sad, and my mood swings were so bad I thought I was bipolar. My boyfriend could hardly recognize the girl he met prior to the Mirena. My doctor didn’t seem to fully believe the Mirena was causing this, but I am 110% certain. I started Junel immediately after removing the IUD and have felt a huge weight of relief. I’m smiling again, I no longer want to rage at every person who annoys me, and my relationship is healthy once again. I read a lot of reviews saying they hated this pill, and maybe it’s because my body was already super accustomed to hormones, but I love it! The bleeding at first was severe, but some iron pills and rest cleared it up."

For Birth Control "I've been suffering from anxiety recently, and a couple of months ago, I got put on this birth control to help with my worsening PMS symptoms. I was told to give it 3 months to balance out in my system, but I had to stop after 2.5. It made my anxiety 10x worse than it already was. I haven't slept in over a week from how bad my anxiety gets at nighttime. The placebo weeks had me feeling a little better, so I think it's time to just quit altogether. I think if you have any kind of anxiety or depression, it's best to stay away from this pill."

For Birth Control "Before I started this medication, I had read reviews of it, and I was horrified. It's now been a year and four months that I've been on Junel Fe, and I honestly haven't encountered any issues. Before I was on birth control, I was depressed, had anxiety attacks very often, always tired, had my period for at least six days, and had a lot of cramping. I never had any issues with having acne. Ever since I started, I feel like a whole new person. Zero anxiety attacks, no longer depressed, very light periods that last three days (at most), no cramping at all, and still no issues with acne. I constantly see reviews that other people leave saying that they're constantly nauseous or having headaches or gaining weight, but I personally haven't had any of these issues. Although this medication doesn't work well for some people, it works perfectly for me! Don't let other reviews discourage you. I almost didn't start using this medication due to the bad reviews I had read. I'm also glad I'm not pregnant."
