For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for 3 months now, and I'm gaining so much weight! The weight gain makes me sad. This pill makes me feel so lazy and emotional. My skin is better than normal, though. Plus I'm not pregnant!"

For Birth Control "I'm 17, so this applies more to teens. I was on the DEPO shot. I had horrible effects, would tell anyone and everyone to stay away. So after my 9 months on it, I had a 2-month-long period, incredible pains and mood swings, and it was all too much. I came off and went on Lutera. It's been 3 weeks. I put on about 5 pounds, but so far I've been working out and dropping it! The weight gain is fast, and I'm finding it easy to get rid of! My moods are much more stable, which is amazing because it really makes a difference if you are in a relationship. So far I would recommend it."

For Birth Control "Wow, this birth control was awful. I was on it for about 4 months and gained about 10 lbs. Worst of all, it gave me depression and bouts of really dark thoughts. It was gradual, so I didn't even know it was because of the pills. Luckily, my boyfriend made me stop taking them, and I felt better within 3 days. If you're taking this, please be careful!"

For Birth Control "Lutera is a great birth control in terms of no moodiness or other severe side effects. My boobs did get bigger and did gain some weight (healthy weight around my hips and butt), but my acne did not clear up. I also broke out in hives throughout the four months I have been taking it."

For Birth Control "I've been on Lutera non-stop for about 5 years. Pros: Never had any noticeable weight gains, acne, mood swings, cramping, or any other side effects that would be linked to the pills. Also, no pregnancies, which is kind of the whole point! Cons: Within the past year or two, I've noticed a big decrease in sex drive. Also, stopped taking it for a week or two recently (was on antibiotics), and my next period was medium flow for almost two weeks. Noticed my PMS kicked in big time when I took that time off."

For Birth Control "I am 17 years old, 5'1" and 125 pounds when I was originally 105 lbs. I started taking Lutera almost exactly 1 year ago. It was my first birth control, and the reason I was getting it was because my periods were horrible. There would be days I couldn't go to school because I had to change my pad every couple of minutes. Also, I planned on being sexually active once it started kicking in. I became sexually active about 3 or 4 months later, and it is great with protection. I gained a LOT of weight. I expected to, but not this much. It's made me have very low self-esteem. ALSO, I don't know if it's just me or the pill, but even though I have been sexually active, it's impossible to have an orgasm. I want to switch because of the weight gain, but I'm too scared."

For Birth Control "Before I was on Lutera, I was on Lo Loestrin FE (which was awful! I would bleed literally two weeks out of the month, had no sex drive, and gained 10 lbs). After switching to Lutera, which I have been on for a month now, my mood swings have been consistent (even though I cried when a dog commercial came on). I have actually lost weight, there is no breakthrough bleeding, and my sex drive is back to normal, and this is covered 100% by my insurance. Also, no bad side effects such as acne, stomach pain, or severe discomfort in any form. The only thing is my boobs swell up a little bit, but no complaints there. This is such a great pill! I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to start a new BC or wanting to switch."

For Birth Control "I’ve taken Lutera throughout high school and still to this day, and it works fine for me. When I tried a different birth control (APRI), it made me gain so much weight. I went back on Lutera. I don’t break out, I didn’t gain weight, and I’m not sure about the mood swings because I think that’s just how I am, lol."

For Birth Control "This is my second birth control. I started off with Microgestin, and it worked okay for me, but my periods were extremely irregular, and my breasts were so sore that even slightly touching them on accident would hurt a lot. Now that I've been through a full pack of Lutera, I really do like it. Other than the fact that I seem to cry at every little thing and seem to irritate a little more easily, my period was on point this month, and it lasted only 4 days. Although before I started, I cramped really terribly, I'm thinking that since it was my first month on Lutera, that should subside as my body gets used to it. My skin is the clearest it's ever been, my breasts grew a little, I gained a little weight, but it seems to work for me quite nicely!"

For Birth Control "I started taking Lutera at the end of Feb. 2016. I was getting married and thought I would give it a try. It's pretty good overall, I don't have any emotional problems, and it doesn't make me sick to my stomach. However, I've gained 17 pounds in 2 months! My boobs got a lot bigger as well. I went from 165 lbs at my wedding to 182 lbs today, May 9th, 2016! I feel so bloated and fat! I am in my late 40s. I was anorexic in my early 20s. This medicine makes me want to stop eating again! Other than the weight gain, it's okay, but I don't think I will stay on it."

For Birth Control "For 8 years, I was on Aviane. Had horrible cramps, breast soreness, awful mood swings, weight gain (at least 5-7 lbs), and very odd periods (some would be heavy, heavy, then the next month barely anything). Not too long ago, the pharmacy gave me Lutera instead for no reason. Questioning how good this was, I was very nervous. My first week on Lutera, I lost those lbs, felt happy (like a weight has been lifted), no cramps! My period was light, short, and cramp-free! I had NO MOOD SWINGS. Then, the next month, back on Aviane...worst breast tenderness I have ever felt within the first few days back on it! Cramps returned. The next month: Lutera. After that...Aviane. Now, I've finally been on Lutera...for good! This is the best."

For Birth Control "Honestly, I’ve been on three brands of birth control, and Lutera has by far been the worst one I went on. I had weight gain, and since taking it, I have suffered from the worst constipation. While on the pill, I would have sore, bloated spots on my lower abdomen, and it would not go away unless I downed a bottle of magnesium to help pass stool. It’s been around 2 years, and it still hasn’t gone away despite going off birth control a few times as well as changing brands. Would not recommend at all."

For Birth Control "I've been on Lutera for about 4 years. The positive effect was that it was very effective and no period. The side effects were horrible, and I didn't even think it was from the pill. I would have the worst mood swings and get so mad that I would just blow up. Moody all the time. It made me very sensitive. I didn't want to do anything, didn't want to socialize often. Made me so tired, no energy. It made me bloated, I went up a cup size, not to mention I gained 40 lbs, yes, 40 lbs. Over time, it raised my blood pressure to 155 over 110 with shortness of breath, pain in the center of my chest brought me to the hospital. This pill now gave me anxiety and I had to get on a depressant. I am now on a mini pill which has no estrogen in it! What a difference!"

For Birth Control "Negatives of this pill: Rapid weight gain (I gained 30 pounds, and my diet was the same as it has always been, and prior to birth control pills, I've never had problems with weight gain). While I already suffer from anxiety and depression, taking this pill had doubled that. Almost every day, I felt depressed, angry, and sad. I've had so many breakdowns, it was tiring. Now that I am off it for a couple of weeks, I feel much more calmness and peace of mind. There's no doubt that the hormones in this pill had something to do with it. Do not take this back to back (skipping inactive week), when I did this, my legs swelled up and hurt, and I couldn't stand for long periods of time and also had constant spotting and cramps. Always had breast tenderness."

For Birth Control "I've been on Lutera for 5 months now, and I absolutely love it! I was very hesitant to ever get on birth control because you never know how hormones will affect your body. Lucky for me, never any spotting or random bleeding. Took my PMS symptoms from severe to barely there... Cramps? I used to cry and puke for my first 2 days, and now that time of the month isn't affecting my job and life. Weight gain? I was a very unhealthy 77 lbs before I started this. My doctor explained the pill itself does not cause weight gain, but increases your appetite and helps slow metabolism. I am now 95 lbs. I also suffer from anxiety and mild bipolar disorder, so I was worried this pill would make my symptoms worse, but I'm happy and healthy as could be right now!"

For Birth Control "I switched to Lutera after my previous birth control got taken off the market. I was told that it had a lower level of estrogen, which may cause spotting. The first packet was wonderful - no issues. The second packet, before I completed the active pills, I started bleeding, and it is paired with horrible period cramps and nausea. I thought birth control pills would help with cramps. And according to my doctor, I will be having a period again when I get to the placebo week. Basically, I will have a two-week-long period. Not to mention, I did gain weight, got tender boobs, and have trouble sleeping. I did expect those side effects, but definitely did not expect a full-blown crampy period that lasts for two weeks. I’m giving it a shot for one more packet since it takes three months to settle in. Hopefully, I don’t go anemic before then from all this bleeding. If anyone has found the perfect birth control, please let me know because I’m still on the hunt for one."

For Birth Control "I have taken Lutera for about a year and a half. It is great at preventing babies, and it has made my periods much better. I do not bleed as much, and my cramps are nothing compared to what they were. However, I have gained weight-about 20 lbs. I have tried to lose the weight and have lost a little, but I have never had to try so hard to lose weight. Much of the time, it is a losing battle because since Lutera, I always seem to have hunger pains. Also, at times, I feel very tired, and taking caffeine only helps a little bit."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "For the first 6 months, Lutera worked very well for me, unlike other birth controls that I previously took. Lutera had almost no side effects, such as weight gain and moodiness. My periods were regular and lighter, then, after about 6 months, I started getting my period every 2 weeks. This went on for 2 months until I stopped taking the pill."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for over a year now, and it has worked great. There have been no mood swings, no weight gain, and I have seen a decrease in my period cramps and the length of my period. In the first few months, I did have breakthrough bleeding, but that went away by the third month. I take my pill at 8 pm every night, a few times later (but still within a 3-hour window), and have not gotten pregnant, though I have had unprotected sex on more than one occasion. I would recommend it to anyone."

For Birth Control "Been on Lutera for about a month now, and so far, so good! I got my period the day I took the red pill, and so far, my period has been SO much lighter than before. I have little to no cramps, and before, I had horrible cramps and heavy, heavy flow. I haven't felt moody or depressed, and I've experienced no weight gain. Although I do get hungry come night, I just drink water, and it fills me up. But so far, so good with Lutera!"

For Birth Control "I have been taking Lutera for 7 months now. The first 3 months, I had horrible, painful bloating every time I ate anything. That has subsided, but I have gained a lot of weight, my hair and fingernails are growing rapidly, but are very brittle, my acne has gotten worse, my breasts are larger and more tender, and I get frequent headaches. I have been on several other birth control pills, and they all gave me insane mood swings. I don't seem to have that problem with this pill."

For Birth Control "This birth control is terrible! It increased my mood swings, made me feel as if I was on my cycle for about a week and a half (which only lasts normally 5 days), decreased my sex drive, caused me to discharge a lot, and caused a drastic weight gain (at least 15 lbs)... Only gave it 2/10 because I didn't get pregnant."

For Birth Control "I had been on Lutera for a little less than 3 years. I never experienced drastic mood swings, weight gain, or acne. My periods were way lighter and less painful than before I started Lutera. Before birth control, I would throw up and be in uncontrollable pain for the first two days. Now I have mild cramps on day one and that's it. When I went to pick up my prescription last week, I was given Aviane instead of Lutera, and I am praying that nothing changes."

For Birth Control "I've been taking Lutera for 10 days now, and I have pros and cons for this pill. Ever since I've been taking this pill, the cons are an increase in appetite, stomach pains, and headaches, and a little weight gain. Pros: my acne has cleared up a little since using Lutera, and also less depression. I've been thinking of switching to another pill because the stomach pains and headaches are horrible."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've been taking Lutera for dilated veins in the uterus (PVC). I've been on it for about 3 months to ease cramps and decrease bleeding, but it hasn't really done either. During the first month of the pill, I bled daily, so I didn't necessarily have a period. I also gained about 5 pounds within 2 weeks, became extremely moody, and still had issues with cramps. Month 2, I still experienced a lot of spotting, but it would be suppressed for about a day or two, then continue for a week. I actually had a lighter period, and some of the cramping was eased, but the weight gain and moodiness came with depression, lack of energy, and made my skin break out (seeing I never really had acne issues). I'm almost done with my 3rd pack, and I plan to switch pills once I'm able to visit my doctor again."
