For Birth Control "After taking Lutera for 4 months, all of a sudden I got my period two times in three weeks. Since I started taking it, my breasts got huge, I gained weight, I've been depressed, and my sleep pattern has been thrown off. As soon as I stopped taking it, I felt 1000 times better, I feel like myself again, and now just have to work on getting back into shape because of the weight gain."

For Birth Control "I had previously been on Orsythia until my pharmacy started to fill it with Larissia, which made my breasts severely sore and sensitive. From Larissia, I moved on to Lutera, which caused me to gain 7 lbs in 1.5 months. I did not notice an increase in appetite, just an increase in weight gain. My scalp turned extremely dry and flaky to the point that I purchased several medicated and moisturizing shampoos to try and correct the issue. I experienced extreme bloating almost daily. The first day of my period was extremely painful, it felt like terrible stomach inflammation."

For Birth Control "I've been taking Lutera for about 3-4 years now, and overall it is great. I originally started with Yaz, which gave me awful side effects such as acne, depression, and weight gain. Lutera is a very low dose and works well for me. I have experienced a few minor side effects such as stomach pain and decreased sex drive, but all in all, I like it and don't want to change to another pill."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this pill for about 3 months now. My mood swings are crazy. I cry over the smallest things, get irritated fast, felt weight gain, and my sex drive is crazy to the point I want it all the time. In the beginning, I've experienced headaches, not too bad though. Before the pill, I had Depo-Provera, that made me crazy! Also, I lost weight on the Depo. On this pill, I've experienced very much laziness! I'm thinking of switching my birth control, but don't know what to get."

For Birth Control "I wanted this pill to work because I loved Lessina for 7 years, and then it stopped working for me. Lutera was close to this pill. It was horrible for me, though. Week 1, always dry... down there and mouth and eyes. Week 2, extreme, extreme bloating as if I drank a bottle of salt water, which would last week 3 as well... even my fingers and feet were severely swollen. Somehow, my sex drive increased, though, which is the only reason I tried to give it 3 months and gave it 2 stars instead of 1, but the severe bloating, weight gain, and high anxiety in the middle of my cycle were unbearable. Searching for yet another pill :-("

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for about a month now. I like it. No weight gain, no severe acne, since I usually have a couple of pimples on my face, no changes. Loss of appetite. I, myself, am 5'1" and weigh about 145, no sudden weight gain. Although my breasts do get tender from time to time, being a 38DD it gets kind of annoying. Regardless, I recommend the pill."

For Birth Control "Well... 50 pounds gained later, I'm not very happy with this pill. I've talked to my doctor numerous times about this side effect, and she says you will feel hungry all the time, but you just need to tell yourself not to eat. The weight gain has made me depressed and self-conscious, beginning to think this pill is not worth taking. Other than that, it has helped my periods, and I haven't gotten pregnant, so that's a plus."

For Birth Control "I've been taking birth control for about a year now, and my doctor just switched me to Lutera from Aviane. I've been on it for 2 months now, and though it's effective, I have to say it makes me a little nauseous at the start of a new pack, and I've gained like 10 lbs. Acne is a teeny bit worse, but I'm also using a new soap, so that may or may not be it. My breasts have gotten fuller, but when I PMS, they HURT. I guess these are normal for birth control in general, though."

For Birth Control "Lutera has been pretty effective throughout my couple of months using it. I experienced nausea quite often during the first couple of packs. My breasts were tender and swollen in the beginning, but that doesn't happen anymore. I gained about 7 pounds. Sex drive is actually up the wall. I'm naturally a moody and emotional/sensitive little flower, and I believe since this is a hormonal pill, it adds on to the emotions. I'm frightened by the potential pop-up of depression issues or psychological issues I've been reading about birth control pills. I just don't want it to be too late before I possibly go crazy like some people have mentioned happened to them. Overall, the pill is cool. I used to have severe cramps and heavy bleeding, but Lutera helped."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for almost 4 weeks, and I have experienced some side effects, such as weight gain. I noticed that my breasts are VERY tender, but they have gotten bigger. My hair does grow back faster also. I shave my arms, so after one day, I would feel stubble. Before I was on the pill, I would have at least 3 days before I would feel stubble. I took the pill to get my period regulated, but I haven't gotten my period this month. My doctor said sometimes you won't get your period for at least six months if you are on the pill. I have also had some mood swings, but not severe."

For Birth Control "My acne was terrible, weight gain of 10-15 lb (the other 10 lb I’ll take the blame for), and I had really bad cramping. Overall, a neutral experience and common side effects, especially considering this was my first bc pill. I took this for about two years and no baby!"

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for nearly 2 years (will be 2 years in January). At first, I didn’t notice anything too alarming. I mean, my depression and anxiety were a little worse, but I figured my body was just getting used to the new birth control. Well, fast forward to now, it hasn’t let up. I have gained over 50 lbs, and my periods have moments of being a week late or a week early, or I’ll be bleeding heavily for 7-10 straight days, when I normally just bleed for 5, and I’m only heavy the 2nd and 3rd day. I had one month where I bled for 14 days, which is extremely out of the norm for my body. I was using Emoquette before Lutera, and I never experienced any issues with Emoquette, especially not weight gain. I will be switching back to Emoquette when it comes time to renew my prescription."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for about 3 months. At first, I experienced a lot of bloating and possibly weight gain, but I am not sure if I can attribute that to the medication or me working out less frequently. I also felt a lot of hunger pains and would be fatigued if I didn’t eat at first. Now, after three months, the weight gain and bloating have gone down tremendously. I don’t have the mood swings I had before starting this birth control, and my moods have been a lot better. I’m grateful for this birth control."

For Birth Control "Great BC. Initially, I gained about 5 pounds, but that's probably the case with every BC, and you can work to keep it off. Didn't change my mood or my sex drive, and periods have been much more bearable. Only thing is-if you mess up the pack (i.e., miss a pill, etc.), your period can start early and last very long. Try to keep a consistent schedule with this pill. Oh, and I've never been pregnant either."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for 3 months after switching from another birth control. Within 3 months, I have gained over 35 lbs-not even in my boobs. I eat healthy, exercise daily-and still gained weight. Not to mention the constant mood swings or depression. My boyfriend and I never really argued until I was put on Lutera. I would be perfectly fine one minute, then yelling at him for nothing the next. I hate how this pill makes me. Stupid hormones. I already called my pharmacy, and they're ordering my old birth control for me, so I'll be back on that when this pack runs out."

For Birth Control "I've been on birth control pills for 33 years (other than 3 planned pregnancies). :) My pharmacy switched me a few months ago to Lutera after supplying me with Aviane for years. For the first time, I think I'm having reactions: weight gain and fatigue that I didn't have before. Other than the occasional nausea at the start of a new pack, I've been pretty lucky over the years. I just couldn't understand why I've gained 10 pounds in just a few months. I've been racking my brain and beating myself up, dieting, etc. Then, just this morning, I realized that something did change a few months ago-Lutera! Have a message into my doctor about changing. Fingers crossed!"

"I started using Lutera a month ago, and haven't had any adverse side effects. The only thing that has happened is that my breasts have gone up an entire cup size, and they are often very tender. Other than that though, this medication has not caused any weight gain (as I feared), moodiness, or any other unpleasant side effect."

For Birth Control "I've been on Lutera for 2 weeks now, and I hate it. I'm a 20-year-old college student, 5'3, 120 lbs. After taking Lutera, I now weigh 125 (already). I'm constantly crying at everything for no reason, and I never cried before. For example, I tried to cross the road to get to class, and I saw a car coming, so I cried. I was sitting in class and got hungry and had to forcefully hold tears back... Not normal. I also lash out very often at nothing I should be mad about. It's also making me break out SO MUCH!! Like huge cystic pimples that no one wants to see. I keep going back and forth about whether or not I should get off, 'cause, well, I don't want to get pregnant, but I also don't want to be fat, moody, and pimply."

For Birth Control "I dislike Lutera. I got a new doctor, so this is her go-to, so I said alrighty. I've been on it for over 6 months. My period never regulated with it. Some months I have 2 periods within 3 weeks, and I spot whenever. I gained a lot of weight, about 15 lbs, and my boobs gained a cup size - doesn't sound bad but it's weird. I also have been very sad and just in a low mood. I'm trying a new birth control this month, and I cannot wait. I didn't get pregnant, though?"

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I took Lutera for a year, it was my second try on the pill since my first attempt with Loestrin Fe was horrid. I got acne spots every once in a while, but nothing big. My breasts were insanely tender almost constantly. My sex drive was destroyed by the end of my one year of trying this pill, and I would get so moody. My poor boyfriend had to go through a lot with me taking this pill, and I gained 50 lbs. I never did notice a difference in my Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome-related symptoms, which was a bummer. It could work for someone else, I'm sure, though, since birth control affects everyone differently. I'm on Nexplanon now, which has given me absolute clear skin, my sex drive is back, and my moodiness is normal again. No more crying at the drop of a hat."

For Birth Control "I love this birth control! I was on Lo (lo) and I gained 25 pounds in 3 months. Then I gained 20 pounds on this B.C. But I always got my period, clear skin, everything is all good, but I can't lose the weight! I'm 5'6, I used to weigh 145-150, now I'm 198-200 due to this B.C. My doc is now giving me to try YAZ, very scared. I don't know if I'd rather be fat or get a blood clot."

For Birth Control "I'm convinced this birth control is causing my depression and weight gain. Before the pill, I was very irregular with my periods. But I never even had a lot of symptoms either. Half the time, I wouldn't even get a period, so that's why I went on the pill. I had also started a very serious relationship. I looked forward to regulating my period and also having another form of contraceptive. But I've had worse periods since starting. Cramps, terrible mood swings, no urge for sex. Just awful :("

For Birth Control "I have been on Lutera for around 2-3 months now, and I absolutely hate it. I switched to this BC because my other one had too much iron in it. First of all, my acne is horrible now. It has never been this bad. And my boobs are way bigger and always sore, and I also feel like I’ve gained a lot of weight and am always bloated. I also feel like I am constantly in this “sad” state now, which I am not a fan of. The only good thing I’ve found from this birth control is my periods are a lot shorter and lighter now. Other than that, nothing good to say. I do not recommend!!!!!"

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for 16 days now. Despite the fact that I have only taken this pill 16 times, I have noticed drastic negative changes in myself. I can assure you that I am not exaggerating my experiences with this pill when I describe it, however, I wish that were the case... Physical changes I have experienced while taking Lutera: - Painful, nasty-looking acne on my face, back, and shoulders (I have NEVER had acne in my 19 years of life) - Weight gain in my abdominal area and shoulders (I have not weighed myself because I am terrified to do so, since it has been that drastic) - Constant hunger that is difficult for me to control - I have my period 2 weeks sooner than I should this month."

For Birth Control "This was my first time on any birth control, and I did not have a good experience. This birth control made me nauseous, gave me headaches, caused me to gain weight, gave me horrible breakouts, and even made me sick. I took this for less than a week, I will never recommend this to somebody. I was put on this by my doctor, so I hadn't had a chance to look it up before I got on it. This is not a thing I will take again or give another chance. I suggest trying something different."
