"My GP recommended Seasonique because I was anemic and experiencing very heavy blood flow each month. In the year that I took this medication, I felt depressed and even suicidal at the beginning; gained weight as expected and had a hard time losing weight while on it. At the end of the first 3 months, the flow was heavy for 8 days! I kept with it in spite of menstrual cramps, higher appetite, heavy bleeding when I had my period, and really annoying mood swings. After one year, I decided to stop because it's easier to take iron supplements than take this pill. With 2 children and at peri-menopause age, I wouldn't recommend this product to any woman at any stage of life. Too unpredictable and not worth the unseen side effects."

"Start taking the medication to stop it. But it never did. I've been on the pill for 2 weeks now, and it seems like I'm bleeding more than when I was not on the pill, having huge blood clots and bleeding uncontrollably. Calling the doctor in the morning to see what I can do."

"Honestly, I have been on Levora birth control for roughly a year. At first, it was fine, although I did gain a significant amount of weight no matter what I did. However, now I can’t stop bleeding between my period, and I have horrible pain in my ovaries and back. I have been to the ER three times in two weeks because of these symptoms, and they keep telling me that all tests are normal. I’m telling you, I know it’s my birth control. I used it to skip my period, and now I am regretting that decision immensely. Tomorrow is my last day before placebo week, and it will be my LAST day of taking Levora because I am over this depression and anxiety, which are awful, and this pill has increased it tenfold! The bleeding, cramps, depression, weight gain, gas, bloating, mood swings, and migraines are not worth this pill. TBH, at this point, I’m young, but I’d rather have a baby than go through this for any longer. I feel like rubbish almost 24/7."

"Love this! I have been on this pill for years now, and it is amazing. I used to have heavy bleeding and horrible cramps, and this pill has stopped it for me. Due to being anemic and having endometriosis, I am set to have my period every 6 months, and I never spot in between. This pill is definitely for people whose body can handle going long-term without a menstrual period. And you have to follow directions, taking the pill at the same exact time every day and never missing a pill. It's the only way it will work properly."

"Worst BC I've ever taken. I thought it would be nice to be able to skip my period, so my doctor prescribed me this. I get breakouts bad, worse than if I'm not even on BC. I also get spotting and full-blown periods way before the inactive pills. I'm on the 3rd pack, 1st week, and having my period. I ordered new BC, hopefully, it comes soon. I wouldn't recommend this BC at all."

"I started taking this medicine in December, got sick and forgot a pill. I got my period, it lasted 15 days, and I wasn't supposed to have it yet. Then my doctor changed me to a different one. I started taking that one, and within a few days, I started bleeding again. It would be a great thing to only have a period every 3 months, but the side effects for me made it worse."

"I have fibroids that cause very heavy and painful periods. I was prescribed this medication after declining Depo-Lupron (the shot). Things started out fine the first few weeks, but then I started spotting (which I was told was normal), but then spotting turned into a period. I'm now on the 3rd pack and will have to finish it at the request of my doctor, and not a day has gone by that I haven't bled. This pill did not work for me."

"I was prescribed this medication to slow down the rate of growth for my large fibroids and to reduce cramping. Here is how it has been thus far. Weeks 1-3: Very normal. No bleeding, no mood swings, no weight gain, etc. Weeks 4-5: Very small old blood spotting. One panty liner a day is all I needed. Weeks 6: Mix of old blood and fresh blood. No cramps. Weeks 7-8: Heavy flow with very intense cramps. This is where I am currently at, and I am not sure if I want to continue this medication. My cramps are more intense than when I was not on the medication. Not to mention, I've been bleeding fresh blood for three weeks straight. I want to stick it out in order to give a full analysis of this medication, but I am not sure it is worth it."

"So I've wanted to be on BC pills for the longest just for menstrual cramps. My PCP said this would be great. I've been constantly sad and extremely tired. No matter how much sleep I get, it's never enough. I always have itching in my private area, and it never seems to go away to the point where it breaks open and seeps blood. Also, the nonstop spotting is crazy to deal with. I've been spotting for literally a month. I know spotting is definitely expected, but I didn't expect it to be this bad. I definitely want to be off of this pill, and it's only been a month, literally! I'd rather take a Motrin 800 mg pill to deal with my cramps than to deal with this mess. It's so NOT worth it."

"Took this pill to have control over when my period would start. Into the second pack, and I have started feeling very anxious, nervous, and panicky. I’ve started crying for little reasons. Just threw the pack away. I would much rather have my period come at the wrong time than control it and feel like this."

"I have been on Seasonale for over a year now, and it is the only birth control that has actually worked for me, after going through 6 other brands. I went from having very heavy periods and cramping for 7 days to having a very light (hardly there) period every 3 months. It also managed to clear up the cystic acne that came along with it. My only issue with it was that for the first month or two on the pill, I did have some spotting and bleeding, but it quickly went away, and I haven't had any bleeding since then. Other than that, I haven't experienced any other symptoms, and I highly recommend Seasonale!"

"I'm 38 years old and perimenopausal. I started this pill to regulate my horrific bleeding and cramping. The first two months were awesome, but since that time I have been bleeding for six weeks straight. My doctor advised that I skip the sugar pills and try a couple more weeks of the second pack and see if my cycle regulates. Into the second week of the second pack and I'm still currently bleeding and cramping and am stopping this medication today. Also, I gained 10 pounds, feel 'blue,' randomly cry for no reason, and have had extreme mood swings. I would not recommend Seasonique or any generic equivalent of this drug. My next step is an ablation procedure. : ("

"Switched from the depo shot to Seasonique after my sophomore year of college. My doctor said I would have one week of bleeding at the end of each pack. But for some reason, I end up spotting heavily the whole third month, with a heavier period during the 'bleed week.' I am very consistent with the time I take it and I don't miss a day. But yet, I'm still stuck with a month-long period. Not sure if I should switch birth control methods because of this. The only reason I was sold on Seasonique was because I was expecting one normal period once every 3 months."

"I've been on Quasense for 7 weeks and 5 days, and as of today, I have been bleeding for 7 weeks straight! I started my 'period' 3 days after taking my first pill, and I haven't stopped bleeding since. The first 3-4 weeks were constant heavy bleeding, and then it began to taper off (actually giving me hope). Weeks 4-6 were pretty light, brown blood here and there (but still consistent daily) throughout the day, and I was even more hopeful. Week 6, the bleeding began to become heavy again... Now, here it is week 7, and I'm bleeding like I would be on my normal period! I'm OVER IT! This is STUPID!"

"My experience with contraceptives has been a rocky one. Levlen, so far, has been the only contraceptive I've tried that did not lead to constant black discharge. I've had the Implanon and several times have been prescribed slightly different pills, and there was absolutely nothing I could do to regular my discharge and periods, sometimes for months at a time. After taking Levlen for two days, my discharge would return to normal. It is definitely my preferred contraceptive method :)"

"I am 24 years old and have been taking CamreseLo for approximately 2 and a half years. I love this pill; I have had no side effects. I have been on birth control continuously since I was 12 because of extremely heavy and irregular menstruation. After being on CamreseLo for a year, my flow became very minimal. Now, after over 2 years, my period only lasts 1 day. It's amazing considering I have very minimal spotting in between the 3 months of active pills. It has also reduced my cramps, which used to be so bad I couldn't move."

"I have been taking Seasonale for 2 months, and I had to stop in month 3. The side effects were awful! I had night sweats, waking up at 4 a.m. every morning for no reason, lots of spotting, a huge appetite with weight gain, and severe depression and anxiety. The depression and anxiety were the worst! I do suffer from depression and anxiety, but it's not as bad as this medication made it! I stopped taking it, and about 4 days later, I felt so much better. Now I'm having a cycle, and it's been over a week now, hoping it will end sometime soon."

"I'm going on my 3rd week of LoSeasonique and have been bleeding ever since I started. Just when I think it's going to stop, it starts heavier again. I do get a little dizzy, but I'm hoping it's just my body getting used to the hormones and I'll stabilize soon. No skin problems, and I feel I'm less emotional than with another pill I had tried."

"I want to reply to an earlier post. Birth control pills do help with facial hair. They are used to treat PCOS, which causes excess facial hair. High levels of testosterone can cause facial hair. Birth control pills have sex-binding globulin, which binds extra testosterone, helping to reduce its levels and excess facial hair. It is also why some women on birth control pills may experience a decreased sex drive (testosterone is responsible for sex drive in men and women). I've also been using Lutera for a month and have noticed a significant reduction in facial hair, but I have also had spotting for over a week."

"My wife was always getting abnormal, heavy periods with pain, went to many doctors, everyone had their own views, been through many types of ultrasounds, physical exams, blood tests, but no use, and no one was able to diagnose the problem until she was prescribed to take the birth control pill 'Alesse'. Had a few problems with the side effects in the beginning, and after the first cycle, but it's getting a lot better now, except for a little mood swings. She is not bleeding anymore, and all those unknown cramps and whatnot are gone. I guess every contraceptive pill is not for everyone, if one does not suit you, then try some other type. These reviews help a lot, please keep sharing."

"I am on my 3rd month of this birth control, and at first glance, I thought this would be wonderful. I recently switched from Nexplanon to Seasonique, and I'm starting to regret that change. I have been bleeding for 17 days, and it does not seem to let up. I am still experiencing menstrual cramps on top of the bleeding, and I am not seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Although I want to continue the pack, I am having second thoughts. Nexplanon isn't great, but this isn't a holy grail to your period answers either. Pick your poison, ladies."

"Levlen is a product I have used for the last three years in order to regulate my periods (I have amenorrhea). Without the aid of hormones, I do not have a proper cycle, and therefore have been on 'versions' of the pill since fifteen. Levlen is just as good as any, and (for me), the contraceptive ability is an added bonus."

"I started the generic of Seasonique about 5 months ago. The first three months were great, I got my period when I was supposed, was light, and didn't last long. Then about 2 months into my next pack, I started bleeding again, and it lasted until the end of that pack. Once I started the new pack that I am on now, it stopped. I'm only a week in, and I'm bleeding again. I have a daily alarm on my phone so that I take it at the same time every day."

"My doctor put me on Aviane to suppress my periods for terrible PMS and mood swings. I have been taking them now for 4 weeks. I am supposed to be getting my period today and feel GREAT. I have not gained any weight, which I would gain 5 pounds just prior to my period. Besides the very mild cramps, nothing unusual. I do not feel any lack of sexual drive but do feel slightly drier than normal. Again, I can deal with all of these symptoms to skip the PMS rollercoaster. So far, so GREAT! I am 39, two kids, no more, with a history of depression-type symptoms."

"I was a little hesitant to try LoSeasonique due to all of the negative reviews, but thought it was worth a shot at no longer having a period every month, since I struggle with heavy periods for 11 days every month. I have just finished taking my first pack and never once experienced spotting during the three months on this pack. Nor did I have any changes in skin, weight, or cramping. My sex drive even increased. Some factors that may have helped ease my body onto this pill so smoothly might relate to the fact that I took the pill at the same time every day and have been on birth control for about nine years. Everyone's body reacts differently, so it may be worth taking the risk. I, for one, am very pleased with this pill."
