For Birth Control "I have tried several different kinds of birth control pills. My main concern is heavy, abnormal periods, but it is also my preferred method of birth control. Yasmin made me borderline nuts, so I expressed that concern with my PCP when trying Aviane. Aviane did not make me as emotional, but I felt really unhealthy taking it. I did notice an increased appetite, but no significant weight gain. However, my ankles got super swollen. The worst part about this pill is the insane acne that I got. I am 30 and have never had any serious skin problems. My skin is so awful that I had to discontinue this pill as of yesterday. I am in sales, and my chin is so broken out in huge pimples that it is making it painful for me to talk."

For Birth Control "Aviane is the first pill I have been on. So far, I have had no spotting, just a few pimples here and there, and no major mood swings. I do tend to get mad a bit faster, but it's no big deal. I haven't gained any weight. I actually lost 4 lbs. Plus, I heard of it lessening your sex drive. I actually feel like being more active while on this pill. Altogether, I think it works great. Just remember, everyone's body is different."

For Birth Control "Started off taking the birth control, and I thought it was fine... then I noticed myself gaining weight even though I work out 6 days a week, and my acne got so bad I would cry because it would hurt so bad. It wasn’t always my face, mainly my back, and it worsened my eczema by making my skin very dry. I also experienced fatigue a lot more while on this. I took myself off of it, and now I’m in the process of starting something new."

For Ovarian Cysts "I was switched to this generic after being on many others, including the same Rx formula and other formulas in the past. This was by far the worst pill I've ever taken as far as being ineffective for hormone control. My ovarian cysts returned, I had more painful periods, acne, bloating, mood swings, and the feeling of not wanting to be near or touched by anyone. Once I was back on my previous brand of generic for 2 months, I stabilized completely again."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Aviane for the past three months, and I have to say I’m really liking it! The first month, however, I was extremely bloated every day and had gas. My acne broke out a little as well, but it cleared up. Also, the week before my period, I have breakthrough bleeding. But now I don’t have either, and my moods have actually been really positive, as well as my skin being really clear. And as a sexually active person, I definitely feel protected and can confirm it works extremely well when taken at the exact time every day. So overall, I would recommend this BC for anyone wanting to regulate their period or be protected from pregnancy."

For Birth Control "Wanted to share a positive review since that doesn't happen often! Also, because I was pretty nervous to start birth control since many of the women in my family have responded poorly to it. I've been taking it for a month (so, time will tell if things change in the future), and I have had minor side effects. The first week, I did have one night of bad nausea, but that was definitely due to me not eating very much before. The first week, I also had a minor breakout on my chest. And the only ongoing side effect has been tender boobs, and I'm pretty sure they have grown a bit, too. Otherwise, all positives and hoping it will stay that way :)"

For Birth Control "I initially wanted an IUD, but went on the pill so I could manipulate my period so I wouldn’t be on my period for my honeymoon. I had horrible breakthrough bleeding on my wedding day and whole honeymoon, so that whole point was moot. The absolute worst part is that I have had severe anxiety and paranoia, something I have never experienced before. I am constantly in fear of horrible things happening, it is so severe it is affecting my quality of life. I can barely walk outside by myself without going into full panic mode. This all started shortly after starting Aviane, there has been no other factor that would cause this. I have insane mood swings, extreme irritability, nausea, my chest went from a D to a DDD in the first month, I got cystic acne the first few months, and I still get bad cramps during my period. I made an appointment to switch to a copper IUD, I can’t handle the hormones."

For Birth Control "I was scared to try birth control for the first time, especially after reading the horror stories here. But people only post things if something happens. For me, nothing has happened. The first day I had crazy mood swings, but maybe it was a placebo effect. I was scared that I would lose all my progress with depression, but actually, nothing has happened. I'm still the cheerful, calm person I was before starting it. The rest of the week, nothing happened. I even forgot I'm taking BC at all. I guess I did break out a lot more and my skin's pretty raw, but I'm only on it for Accutane, so it'll be fun to see the chemicals duke it out."

For Birth Control "If you have acne-prone skin, do not use this birth control. I’m aware that different people react differently to things, but before taking this pill, I had slightly acne-prone skin (like one or two pimples at a time), and about a month after I started taking Aviane, my face blew up. No over-the-counter treatments or prescription topicals worked to clear it. It got so bad in two months that when I went back to the dermatologist, I immediately was given a prescription for Accutane. Even now, I’ve been taking the Accutane with an added antibiotic for a month and a half, and my skin looks no better. I do not recommend this pill for acne-prone people, however, it is important to note that it did get my insane periods under control."

For Birth Control "I tried taking Junel Fe for a month, and it was bad. So I got switched to Aviane, a lower dosage. At first, it made me lose my appetite, but on the second month, no side effects at all, no weight gain, acne, or mood swings. I would recommend this birth control to anybody."

For Birth Control "I'm almost on month 3 of this birth control, and I've not had any problems with it. I haven't experienced any acne or weight gain. I'm just still trying to figure my periods. The first month it came the day I started my first sugar pill. This month I'm on my 2nd sugar pill and no sign of my period. However, overall I have been very satisfied with this BC."

For Birth Control "Was on this pill for 3+ years. The only positive was that it stopped my heavy periods. Other than that, it made my acne worse, caused terrible mood swings, and made me gain over 20 lbs. I also experienced a very serious side effect. As a result of the estrogen in this pill, I ended up having a transient ischemic attack (TIA) at just 19 years old. I understand that the fine print does state that you are at an elevated risk of blood clots when taking this pill, however, I guess I was one of the unlucky ones."

For Birth Control "So I started Aviane earlier this year and was on it for two months. It made my periods shorter, and it did lessen the pain of my period. I stopped the pill for personal reasons and then got back on it after two months. Since being back, I had a period last 14 days. I saw an influx of acne, and I never had an issue with acne before. And nausea. Now I'm noticing a deep depression, anxiety, and irritability. I'm already depressed enough, so this isn't really helping. I want to give the pill at least 3 months to even out in my body, but so far I am not liking how it is making me feel."

For Birth Control "I recently had to switch to Aviane after finding out that my health insurance (Blue Cross) refused to continue to cover the cost of Alesse after the first 3 months. I've only been using Aviane for a little over a week. So far, I don't see any problems except I've been breaking out more than I should since I'm on birth control. Other than that, I think it's fine."

For Birth Control "I am 23 years of age, and this is the first BCP I was put on to treat my severe cramps. The first week of taking it, I was extremely nauseous, but that was the only side effect I noticed. Until my third week, in 10 days before my period, I started getting dark discharge heavily for a week. On top of that, I experienced cramps that weren't as painful as they usually are, but still enough pain for me to feel uncomfortable and notice them. My skin also broke out really badly, which was the worst side effect of them all since I had clear skin when I started. I'm not sure whether I want to continue into my second month to see if it will improve or switch altogether. My impression of it at the moment is it hasn't done much good for me."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "It's only been a month, so I can't guarantee any of this is the pill, but I switched over from Yasmin. Since I have started this pill, I have been in a way better mood. I have started losing weight (5 lbs so far). My complaints are that I am breaking out on my face, back, and chest. Right before my period started, I got sick. I thought I ate something bad, but then I got my period the next morning. I was one for very painful and nauseating periods, so I hope this is just a first-time occurrence because I really don't want to switch pills AGAIN!"

For Birth Control "This pill made me feel terrible! It caused me to break out everywhere, bloating, and migraines every day I was on it! I have taken it for a week, and my doctor advised me to switch mid-pack back to my old pill, Lo-estrin, which has worked the best for me."

For Birth Control "I’ve been taking the Aviane pill for a month. I’ve taken Lessina and Lutera before and never had any issues like the ones I’ve had on this pill. I experienced anxiety for the first two weeks that eventually went away. My skin has cleared up, however, I still get about two breakouts here and there. My first cycle was completely fine, except it ended up being longer than what my cycle usually is. I did spot during the second week and then three days before my second expected cycle. My second cycle right now hit me like a wrecking ball. My cramps are so bad, and I’m sick to my stomach. I have a headache, backache, and bad nausea. I’m also really emotional and cried a couple of times, which is not normal for me. This is the second day where I’m feeling this way, and it’s definitely not worth me continuing to take this pill. I’m going to look into another pill because I’ve never had this many side effects before."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for about 3 months, and so far, it's been pretty good. I've had no weight gain, hardly any spotting, and absolutely no pimples, lighter periods, a few mood swings. I do get migraines, which I got before I started the pill, and nausea, which are both tolerable."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Aviane for about 3 months now. First birth control I’ve tried, ever. I take it regularly at the same time every single night. My first period taking the sugar pills was on time, I didn’t spot afterward or before, which is good! I had acne breakouts the first 2 months. Cystic, painful acne I never had before. I suddenly had eczema under my eyes, and the eczema around my mouth worsened. It’s dying down now, my skin is beginning to clear up for the most part, but I still have a little acne on my face and back. I think this is a good birth control, and I plan to stick with it."

"I'm going to start with the inactive pills tomorrow. I must say that the first week I used Aviane, my face and shoulders broke out terribly. But by the time I reached the middle of the 2nd week, the breakouts started to calm down. I still do have pimples right now and discoloration from the breakout it gave me, but my skin is getting better. I noticed that my shoulders aren't breaking out anymore. I'm experiencing a loss of appetite, so I think that's what's making me lose weight. Also, I tend to have 'gag moments.' I know it's kind of weird. I think my boobs got a little big too. I guess my body is still adjusting to the hormones I'm putting in, so I'm just going to be patient about it."

For Birth Control "When I first started taking this pill, I broke out along my jawline due to hormone changes and my body adjusting to it. After 2 months, my acne improved, but the downside was that I got very bad mood swings. It wasn't until I stopped taking the pill that I realized how depressed and short-tempered I had become. With that being said, it helps with clearing acne but gives you bad mood swings."

"I’ve been taking this birth control since May, and I’ve been breaking out with cystic acne ever since. It’s terrible, and nothing will help it. I honestly don’t recommend this birth control if you have acne-prone skin like I do. My acne wasn’t nearly as bad as it is now. I would just get a few pimples here and there, but they would go away in a day or two. My face is extremely bad now, to the point where I can’t even leave my house sometimes."

For Ovarian Cysts "After the month, I started to have headaches. I've always had cysts and, as a consequence, acne. It got worse! Terrible! And I started to have hair everywhere! It's horrible! The doctor said it was going to get better after the three months, it's been six, and it's just worse every day. I'm definitely changing."
